Had a great experience with Cliff from Candid Heating and AC. We needed a new system and he assessed the problem with our old system on Monday and had the new system installed and cooling our house by Thursday morning. Cliff explains everything and sets you up for success! Highly recommend Candid! read more

I recommend them strongly becuase of their values around prioritizing customer interest instead of their interest. They do not recommend unnecessary repairs even when they could possibly talk you into it and focus on what's value for the customer. They also communicate well and tend to be available quickly when you need them. read more

update on my previous review. i hate to give cliff a negative review but since the time i wrote my previous review (right after cliff asked me to write a review for him which i was happy to do), he has been very difficult to get in touch with and has left me hanging for 2 months on a small job he was supposed to complete. in mid june i needed a new wall AC for a tenant and i also needed him to replace some parts on the roof connected to our heater exhaust pipes that were rusted. getting him to the property to do the job took a lot longer than usual and he was slow to respond to my texts but my tenant was patient and i wanted him to do the job since i had previously been happy with his work. unfortunately when he came to install the AC, he forgot to bring the parts for the roof exhaust repair. he installed the AC & promised he'd come back for the other job so we made a follow up appointment. unfortunately an hour before he was supposed to go back for the job he texted me and cancelled saying he was sick. that's fine - i totally understand. i explained to him that i needed it done before an insurance inspection by the end of july. he assured me it would get done. sadly, he has still not done the job and won't respond to my texts with any updates. not really sure what's going on but i feel like making me wait 2 months and not even texting or calling me with an update or to tell me he can't do the job is uncalled for...and now i'm scrambling to find someone else to do the job. very disappointing. read more

Was referred to Cliff by our neighbors who had used him for their HVAC replacements. Cliff was so easy to work with....responded so quickly to my message, and quick to come and help us when our HVAC finally gave up (during a heat wave of course). He and his crew were meticulous, did a fantastic job, and had the best price in town. The system he installed is fabulous, and he did it in a fast, efficient way. We were very happy with this company, and would highly recommend to anyone with HVAC needs! read more

Excellent service. Quick communication. Im glad I chose you guys to help with my AC. The problem was identified right away and fixed. Was also very kind enough to show up at my door on short notice. Very diligent and reliable. Thank you ! read more

5 star reviews are earned and not just given! Arrived early, troubleshot issues, sourced parts. While one tech went for parts the other removed and prepped the broken equipment. Fast, efficient, through. Reasonable price. Timing was perfect as we are expecting 114 this week in the San Fernando Valley. Thank you, you have my business for life and will be the only one I recommend. read more

So, last Fall I got one of those routine maintenance tune-ups for my packaged HVAC unit. And that's when my problems began. My system had been trouble free for the last 11 years. Now, I know nothing about HVAC units and so I can't accuse the company that did the tuneup (NOT Candid) of doing anything to damage my system, but after that tuneup, I started having problems getting heat. The company that did the tuneup and two other companies looked at my system. Two of them did some repairs that did not solve the problem and the third one just threw up their hands and told me I need a new system. my system is 17 years old and so I have the suspicion that at least the third company doesn't really look carefully at an older system because it's so much more profitable for them to just sell a new one. So I saw the reviews that candid has and I thought "all right I'll replace the system. I just think I'm gonna use this company because they have really good reviews". So the guys at Candid came to my place. I told the owner what's been going on with it and I told him "it seems like I need a new system and so after you look at it if you agree, let's talk about what my options are." After about 30 minutes, he came down off my roof and he said that the control board ( or electrical oard or console or something--these are my words. I forgot exactly what he said) is clearly the problem. He said your system is old, but it's really not bad, you probably are going to get at least several more years out of it. So Cliff, the owner, ordered the part and replaced the control board thingy and it's working fine. And that wound up being about a $900 repair instead of a $15-$20,000 job. Often times you don't get objective measures that help you compare the quality of different HVAC companies. It seems to me this is a pretty objective measure. Three companies came out and two of them spent a fair amount of time looking at my unit and none of the three were able to diagnose the problem that cliff, at candid, diagnosed after about a half an hour. read more

Cliff not only undercut the "big guys" in price, but his honesty and professionalism are top notch! From the start, he gave me his personal cell phone and when my thermostat was having problems in the middle of a heat wave, he returned my call and fixed my problem right away. He went out of his way to help me with financing and let me choose my pick of A/C brand. Unlike the competitors, he didn't try to force a brand down my throat. I asked for extra vents and while other contractors said "no problem," Cliff said he would do them, but thought they were unnecessary. He said if after the install, If I still think I needed them, that he would install them: no extra charge. Guess what? I didn't need them. read more

My air conditioner was 22 years old and stopped working. I was going to replace it. Cliff said that I should look at repairing it rather than repacing it. He found that the blower motor had to be replaced and some freon had to be added, and it's working perfectly. He saved me so much money. I am so grateful because replacing the unit was going to be a hardship, as I'm on a fixed income. So happy I found him!!!! read more

Candid is a great company to work with. I needed new air conditioning unit, new furnace and new duct work. I can confirm all the positive reviews on Yelp are true regarding Candid. I initially had another high end company come out and access my needs. They only offered one solution and it was just wasn't working for me. From my first call to Candid the Office Manager was very nice and quickly scheduled a visit for an appointment Cliff Inzunza came out and my first impression was how knowledgeable he was. He offered several solutions and let me choose what would best for my situation. He listens to he customers. I had major issues/concerns about summer heat in my upstairs master bedroom. When he did the re-duct he used a larger duct and put a new vent in the master. He actually does the work with his staff. They were on time, respectful of my property and VERY neat and the job was completed on schedule. They are really hard workers and other than a short lunch break never stopped. This is a top notch company and I highly recommend! Everyone at this company was courteous, helpful and-experts in their field. read more

I called before Thanksgiving about my heater needing repair and to my surprise they picked up and agreed to help. They came out and did a diagnostic and told me I would need a part that would take a few days to arrive. I paid them for the diagnostic and thanked them. They were supposed to contact me when they had the part. I've called but no answer so still with no heat. The funniest part is that I was just going to replace the unit...if only they showed up. read more

Once again, Cliff Inzunza of Candid did a fantastic job today! I found Cliff and Candid years ago when I was looking for an air conditioner. I interviewed many contractors, and he was the most knowledgeable of all of them. He and his company have always done a great job, for years. This time, he came to my house and fixed my furnace in under an hour. He is very honest, and he knows what he's doing. He and his family are also very nice people. My significant other had the same wonderful service from Cliff and Candid. Thank you so much! read more

Thank you Cliff! Cliff and his team came out and installed a new air conditioning unit. The old one was 30+ years old, so there was a fair amount of work to do. They were in and out in about five hours. Works so much better than the relic we were used to. Now we've got cool air for the coming San Fernando Valley heat! read more

Came out and performed normal system maintenance plus changed out a thermostat. They did exactly what I expect from a good contractor, went beyond the obvious and did a thorough inspection. They found components that were getting close to end of service life and made the repairs. Also had an issue with an electrical component that was near the AC Unit. I asked if they come back and see if it was possibly dislodged during the inspection. These guys were great, came back out and rectified the issue. Wasn't their fault, but they fixed it anyway. Highly recommend their company. read more

To start, Cliff called me back immediately. He was able to troubleshoot our problem with our central AC. He then followed that up with a visit the following morning. Very knowledgeable, professional, kind and thorough! He made sure everything was addressed and fixed and even replaced our thermostat. Checked the boiler, connections, added Freon, replaced filter and fixed unit outside. I would highly recommend Cliff and Candid for any AC and/or heating needs. read more

My wife and I just completed a total-remodel in which we converted a 4-bedroom home into two homes, one of which is an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU). We put central HVAC in both of the new units. I requested estimates from a number of companies, and Candid HVAC came in the lowest. Cliff was extremely responsive and flexible. We had to change plans and he accommodated us without any complaint or delay. We have had many workers on the property over the past 5 months of remodeling, and Cliff was the hardest worker of all. He got the job done quickly and efficiently. We are very pleased with his work. I highly recommend Candid. - I am posting this second review because for some reason, my other email posted me in San Francisco. Cliff is an amazing guy! He replaced my 20-years-old AC ducts, moved the old AC units so that my roofers could replace the plywood and platform under, and he cooperated with my roofers 100% during the entire process. His team was always on time and did everything to the most details! Best of all, Cliff's estimate beat all other major competitors and he used the best materials! I have interviewed more than 7 AC guys and based on Candid's Yelp review and my interview with Cliff, I chose Cliff and his Candid AC company! Now, I cannot be happier! My new AC ducts worked well and all Cliff's work easily passed the HERS test and got the City Permit!! So don't waste any time interviewing, if you need any AC work, call Cliff first! Cliff, the owner of Candid heating/AC, saved my life! (almost). I had called another company December 8, 2022 to come out to my home. My heating unit stopped working. The prior company came out 3 times and "decided" it was the pressure valve. That company ordered the part. I am a very patient person, but by week 4 the part still had not arrived. Made a call to that company and was told it would be at least 2 more weeks? The delay was blamed on bad weather across the country. This had been a VERY cold December. I nearly froze in my own home for ONE MONTH waiting for that valve to arrive. When told I would be waiting at least 2 more weeks I called Candid heating. Long story short Cliff came out, diagnosed my problem and my heating unit was fixed within an hour of the diagnosis!!!! And I didn't need the pressure valve that the other company claimed. No parts needed--just a good cleaning! A million thanks Cliff!!!! read more

A scammer gave us a "cracked furnace" and this company came, took apart our system to discover that it was a scam. So glad I called them.

Candid heating, and air conditioning is a great company! The owner, Cliff, is very knowledgeable and responsive. He explains everything thoroughly and listens to the customer. He does fantastic work, and we were so pleased with his first work on two rental units that we hired him for our own home. He just installed the third HVAC system for us and we are very pleased with his work. read more

Candid knows how to do this right. Cliff was the technician and he managed everything -- so respectfully in this sensitive time, always taking precautions and respecting social distancing, wearing a mask -- and then he got down to business. In record time I had a new ac and heating system that perfectly suited what we needed and he asked all the right questions along the way to be sure it was how we wanted it done. The price and service could not be matched. Fantastic. Thank you, Cliff and Candid!! read more

I called late in the day as my air conditioning went out during this heat wave. They were nice enough to squeeze me in at the end of their day. Cliff the repairman came diagnosed and resolved the issue very quickly at a very reasonable price. Further he came back the following day (at no cost to me) to check to be sure all was well. Additionally we crawled into my attic to check to be sure that all was functioning properly there, again at no cast to me. From the lady who answered the phone to Cliff and his assistant everyone was so polite and informative I couldn't be more satisfied. I have already recommended to a friend and will continue to do so with my family and friends. Again.. Thanks Candid. read more

2018: Reponsive. Keeps Appoinment time. Pleasant. NOT pushy! Thorough, fixes problem and sticks around to make sure it's resolved. 2 service calls -- still VERY HAPPY! Our old AC stopped working last night (Fan stopped functioning.) Called this morning and left message at 8:30 am. At 8:32 am, Cliff returned my call! Told me he could come between 9:30-10 am - showed up AS PROMISED! Able to fix problem today (had part on hand). I realize we need to replace 20+ years-old system (end-of-life, improve efficiency), but I appreciate that Cliff is NEVER pushy/high-pressure about getting a higher-priced job of replacing everything. I appreciate that he enables us to buy some time and do this properly, and in future when the weather is more consistently cool. 2016 REVIEW: AC started leaking over weekend. Called Candid (Cliff)) for 2nd opinion. Accomodating. Called me back (as promised). Scheduled same day to see problem. ONLY ONE to open sheetmetal to inspect coil, showed me it was completely clogged; water marks everywhere leaking occured. Mentioned it must be expensive running AC since we don't have good airflow... appears never been cleaned/conditioned in 20 years. Clogged (previous owners didn't change filters regularly or filters fell through (missing part)/not functioning. Offered options as fixes, explained pros/cons. Happy to answer questions. Not pushy with new system or any fixes. Scheduled Cliff to clean/unclog everything (Drain Lines, Coil, Blower/fan). Discussed options with me, again, before starting work. Seemed thorough, showed me before/after including Drain Pan with no crack/leaking. Seemed very knowlegable, informative and happy to educate me. 2nd opinion critical! Cliff found clogged drain line: "1st opinion guy" said drain line NOT clogged (didn't look at entire line) and we "need new expensive coil, but should just get entirely new system" that he kept pushing... Candid -- 5th HVAC company to our house (less than 10 years!!) OTHER HVACS: No good advice on properly maintaining AC. Gave various nonsense about improving airflow or why it's so expensive to run during hot months and not great at cooling. 3 Co.'s really pushy about replacing EVERTHING (ductwork & AC/FAU units), but NOT great at answering questions (and jerks about it!) on their $10-$20k quotes!. Tune up service just completed today. We plan to call Candid to get quote/details how he'd address our needs for a more efficient and cooling system! Candid also has Very good reviews on Home Advisor. read more

Hands down, Candid Heating & Air offers the best prices in the valley! More importantly, they are professional and have integrity. They give their customers that old-fashioned service that you seldom see anymore. I needed my 17 year old AC tuned up for the summer. Dustin did a fantastic job! He was incredibly thorough. He explained everything and answered all my questions in great detail. Dustin pointed out to me ways to improve the efficiency of my AC especially in these hot summer months. We were in need of an entire central a/c & heating system installed--including ducting and new register cut-outs. Our house was built in the 50's and the existing registers are on the floor which won't get the job done when you need your house cooled in the heat of summer so we wanted registers placed on the ceiling. We received multiple quotes and Cliff came in with the best price. He recommended a 5-Ton 16 SEER cooling system for our single-level 2,500 sq. ft house. Cliff was very professional and is licensed which was important to us as we wanted our work permitted by the city. Cliff installed the furnace portion of the system in our attic which included adding power and a light switch. He also installed our outside condenser (a/c system) along with a disconnect and all new ductwork. In addition, Cliff installed a wifi thermostat that allows us to download an app where we can operate the system remotely. It's a smart thermostat so it keeps track of your usage patterns and memorizes your settings. It's so cool that we can turn the a/c on through our phone prior to getting home. We have indoor cats so it's nice to be able to turn on the system if we think the house is getting too hot or cold when we're away. As for Cliff he was very professional from start to finish. His contracts clearly documented exactly what would be done, it took less than a week to perform the entire job as was expected, and he worked with the city to get city permit approval. He clearly takes pride in his work and was extremely responsive with any questions/concerns we had. We were so pleased with the whole process. I would definitely recommend Cliff to anyone who's in need of a/c work. Cliff really knows his stuff. read more

Our Carrier heat stopped working and Cliff from Candid came to diagnose & repair it. Normally we use Canoga Park heating & air but I couldn't get a hold of them and found Candid thru yelp reviews. I called and immediately got a hold of someone who set up the appointment and within about an hour Cliff, the owner & one of the techs, arrived at my house. He spent a good deal of timing checking and rechecking the heater and determined we needed a new heater blower. Since Carrier was closed for parts over the weekend, Cliff told me he would call them on Monday and see if the part was in stock. Early Monday morning at 8:30 am I received a voicemail from Cliff letting me know the part was available and he could install same day. He did the repair work and yahoo the heat was back on! Cliff is extremely professional, easy to talk to, took his time to explain the repair and answer questions, and was overall very pleasant to be around. Forget Canoga Park heating & air, Candid & Cliff have a new customer in me and my family. :-) read more

Cliff came out to check our condo's central heat and cooling unit in the Palms/Overland area. Our A/C started making a buzzing sound when we tried to turn it on. The appointment was easy to make and Cliff was so professional. You can tell that he cared about your home. I really appreciated that he was very thorough, looking even beyond just the problem and checking all the aspects of our air conditioner. He was patient enough to explain what the problem was and what fixes he was doing--which is a big plus for me as a homeowner, I do want to learn. Cliff fixed our problem and made some notes for the next maintenance person who might come by but you can be sure we'll be calling Candid again! read more

There are not enough stars for the service provided by Cliff! He installed a new HVAC for us four years ago. This week we were having work done in our home and the workers taped up the intake and let the air run! When they left, we had no air and the house was up to 90 degrees! I have a disease that gives me an intolerance to heat and was literally sitting in my car with the air running when I called Cliff. When I reminded him of my disease he was at my house in 15 minutes! My A/C started making a rapid clicking noise whenever the fan turns on. Everything else seems to be working just fine. But since it's been stupid hot and muggy in LA the past couple of weeks, I decided to have a professional come to my condo to take a look at it. I went on HomeAdvisor.com and found Candid. Lucky me, I was able to book an appointment in 2 days instead of waiting 4-5 weeks for other companies (like I said, major heatwave and monsoonal weather). Cliff have me a call to confirm and arrived with his assistant Jose within the designated time frame. Cliff thoroughly explained the problem and gave me options. I like options. I decided to go with the simplest option, which is to fix the rattling noise instead of replacing the whole motor. Cliff assured me that when the times comes for me to replace the system that Candid will already have the parts number and will get everything ordered up and installed. Service was efficient, thorough, professional, and friendly. I will refer Candid and Cliff to my HOA without any hesitation! Thank you! Thank you! read more
