Still no response to my email sent 8/27/2023:
Mr. Balouzian,
I would like to tell you about my experience with your company. It has taken me some time to write to you because I needed to calm down.
In November of 2020, I had an issue with my heater, I had someone come out and try to fix it. My unit is a Carrier.
He said it was a circuit board. I needed one made by Carrier, which he didn't have, so I did my Google search.
Your company came up as an authorized Carrier Service company and I told a friend of mine and she said that you had put in a new thermostat for her, and that Zodiac was great, so I made the call.
Your technician came out on Nov. 30 and sure enough it was the circuit board but didn't have one with him and he came back on Dec. 3 and replaced it!! ($696.00).
My heater worked great!!
So, this is the hard part for me to write as I never have written something like this before.
In July of this year, my air conditioner wasn't working properly. It turned on, felt the cold air coming out of the vents but it kept running. After about 45 minutes and it seemed like the air wasn't as cold as it first was. The air flow didn't seem strong, and the thermostat hadn't even lowered 1 degree!! I went into my basement where the unit was and saw that the line set had frost forming on it. I quickly turned the unit off.
My daughter and son-in-law are in the HVAC business in Las Vegas. She works for a company and my son-in-law owns his own company.
Both said that it could be several things: the capacitor, low freon, blower motor, etc.
So, I immediately called Zodiac!!
It took about a week to get an appointment as you were booked solid because of the extreme heat we were experiencing.
On July 13, 2023, your technician came out. He went on the roof and said he checked to see if I had any leaks and I had none.
The blower was working fine, so he replaced the capacitor. ($468).
It was fine when he left, just like it was when prior to me calling to schedule an appointment. I turned it on later that day and I thought it was fixed, even though it didn't seem like the air was blowing out any stronger than before. Then the same issue started happening again an hour later.
I checked the unit, and the line set was starting to frost over again, and the temperature hadn't lowered. I couldn't use my AC.
I called and got another appointment on July 18. A different technician came out, he went on the roof and also checked for leaks and found none.
He checked the coil, and it was clean. All he did was put in a new air filter saying mine was dirty. I have extras so he used one of mine.
I looked at the air filter and it wasn't dirty. I had replaced it MYSELF at the end of June and hadn't turned on my unit until the heat wave started in July.
I was charged $125. I was surprised that I was charged for this since it was less than a week later, my air filter was used, and I was still having the same issue.
He had me talk to Bella why I was being charged and she said because it was something different was done and the capacitor wasn't the issue.
I thought WOW, I just paid $468 and still had the same problem!!
Well, the replaced air filter wasn't the problem as it still existed!
The capacitor wasn't the problem as it was "new" (?)
I had "no leaks" per both of your technicians.
Still, I couldn't use my AC.
I went to Las Vegas the following week to get out of the heat here and enjoy being in an air-conditioned home!!
My son-in-law asked me if they checked the freon level. I told him they just said I had no leaks.
He asked me if they took big gauges when they went on the roof. I told them I wasn't outside to see what they took with them.
He asked me some other questions and other things for me to check when I got back home.
He said it is an air flow problem, explained a few things to me how things work. He even offered to have one of his technicians come out from Vegas to fix my AC!!
When I got back into town, I got another referral from a friend, called her person and he came out. Right away, he went on the roof with his gauges.
Came back down and said I WAS LOW ON FREON!!
I don't know how many pounds it was low, but once he put in the freon my AC works!!!
The air comes out stronger, doesn't take 2 hours to lower the temperature ONE degree now and NO frost on the line set.
I asked him if he thought if I even needed a capacitor that your technician replaced, and he said most likely NO!!
It cost me $593 for nothing. I don't know what, if anything, would make this right or even if you would consider making it right.
I decided to go online to see how much the capacitor itself costs. They sell from $8 to about $30 for the part.
I will never call Zodiac again nor will I recommend Zodiac to neighbors or the community on NextDoor who ask for recommendations for a good HVAC company. read more
