I scheduled an appointment with Airmax HVAC for today between 9:30 AM and 10:00 AM. The company explicitly confirmed this window via text message and even provided the specific name of the technician who would be arriving. Not only did they completely fail to show up, but there was also absolutely no heads-up, no follow-up text, and zero respect for my time. If a company can't manage a basic scheduling window that they confirmed, I certainly wouldn't trust them with my home's HVAC system. Completely unreliable. Save yourself the headache and call someone else. read more

I chose Air Max because of past Yelp Reviews that were largely positive and also because of their affiliation with Lowe's who offered interest free financing for two years. The Air Max staff and workers were courteous and responsive to my questions and concerns. However, the quality of work was somewhat disappointing and I give them an average rating. During our in home estimate, the Air Max rep explained to us in detail about the equipment that would be replaced and the amount of work involved. One of the items he included in the contract was a "flat roof pad" on which the several hundred pound HVAC unit would be sitting on. After the installation of the unit, I checked the work and saw that the workers did not install the "flat roof pad" per the contract. Instead, they placed two 2"x 6" boards (which they found on my property and used without my permission) under the front end of the unit to level the HVAC on the slightly pitched roof. The boards were positioned perpendicular to the direction of rainwater drainage. At the back end of the unit, the metal framed HVAC sat on bare asphalt roofing. Thus, this several hundred pound unit was installed on my roof with only two points of contact to support its weight and one of these points consisted of a three foot long, 1/8 inch wide edge of metal frame. I showed a photo of this to a licensed roof contractor and he said that was not an ideal situation. Earthquakes, strong winds, and vibration from the HVAC could cause movement and damage the asphalt roofing. I called Air Max and the workers returned a week later to remedy the install. They installed 2"x4" boards (they brought their own wood this time) and positioned them parallel to the flow of drainage and added vibration dampeners underneath the front end of the HVAC. They secured the HVAC to the 2"x4"s with steel straps but left sharp pieces of steel strap cuttings on the roof. Since the HVAC was now raised about 1 1/2" with the 2"x 4" boards underneath it, I checked the main duct connecting the HVAC to the attic opening and saw a 1/2" gap between the duct and the attic opening, a large enough gap for small critters to access. I didn't want to deal with Air Max anymore so I just sealed the gap with expanding insulating foam. The representatives and workers from Air Max were courteous and professional and the Lennox HVAC they installed delivers strong cold / heated air. Air Max also installed new ducts and registers to two of our bathrooms without charge which I appreciated. If you hire them, make sure you check their work! Ensure that their work is done to your satisfaction, that they clean up after themselves, and perform the job according to the contract. read more

Service after they installed the unit it's been good. When they installed the unit the tech did some damage on my property. The gas pipe is right in front of the door where we have to open to replace the filter. My roof got damaged when the install the new exhaust pipe. Plywood on the attic got damaged , and soooo may things to point here. read more

Went through Lowe's and was connected with Air Max. I want to start off by saying the technician, Jose, was amazing. I have no complaints. However I have a lot of issues with the sales team and Matt in particular. When I spoke to him on the phone after Jose came to do the walkthrough to discuss changes in the plan, he was extremely misogynistic and rude to me on the phone. He tried to man-splain to me things I already knew and understood without even considering I know enough about home repairs than he can imagine. I've never been spoken to so poorly before. Soon after the conversation was over my husband called to talk to him on my behalf and my husband shared it's like we were talking on the phone with two different people. Had two AC units installed by them about 5 years ago. Paid $17,000 for the units and installation. The Air Max installers broke a hinge off of a crawl space cover while shoving the massive unit through. Not a big deal, I understand it happens. The owner said he will send over a handyman to fix it in the next few days. Never happened, I called him multiple times, no one was sent. Decided not to use them for annual servicing. Then last year it looked like there was a possible leak in one of the units so I asked them to take a look. They didn't discover a leak but did service the unit since it was due. I mentioned the handyman work that was promised to me over the phone and to the technician. Called them 3 times about it, each time they said I would get a call back. Never happened. We started out with Lowe's because they offered a discount for a tune up. They sent Jose from Air Max HVAC. He found that our system was fine but we needed a new thermostat. We had him install it and it seemed to be working, later we realized it wasn't working but the company made everything right for us and we have a new thermostat that works great and I am very pleased with their service and wouldn't hesitate to use them again. We just purchased a coil and condenser from this company. And already, the compressor has gone out twice . We were charged $11000 to install the first time. In what we thought was going to be a good purchase. Nineteen months later we have to replace the compressor which is still making noise. We were then charged $1700 to replace said compressor. Air Max HVAC installed a complete new Lennox AC unit, furnace/coil/condenser along with all new ducting. The service and care from the very first phone call was outstanding. The office customer service was thoughtful and considerate and went through every possible option with me. After speaking with the owner I realized the only decision was to completely replace the entire system including replacing the poorly routed and installed ducting. Abe walked me through carefully without any type of pressure and when I went with my decision he worked with my on the price for it all to make complete sense. I noticed my air conditioning stop working one evening. I'm 93 and need the cool air for health reasons. I called and spoke to Edgar who originally sold me my air conditioning system. He responded immediately and told me he would be at my house early the next morning. He arrived on time and found the power cord for the unit had been accidentally disconnected. Just had a new HVAC installed and the whole process has been great. They send out an actual engineer to see the job beforehand and actually beat out other contractor estimates/bids. It's still an expensive endeavor to replace an older HVAC unit, but their price was great for what it was and it was worth it. This year the serviceman was Juan, and he was very courteous, friendly, and troubleshoot the reason that the cooling process was low. Like one of the comments below, I ordered a new HVAC appraisal through Lowe's. They pushed me so hard so I had to sign the contract and open a Lowe's credit card to kick them off. I then cancelled the contract next day. However, they refused to refund me the $1000 deposit. I had to file a dispute to the credit card center to claim my deposit. read more

Our issue with our AC was an epic one. We had just purchased our condo in West Hollywood, and once we moved in, we discovered that the AC unit was not properly working. The AC unit had been described to us as a new AC system, however, upon inspection by an HVAC expert, the condenser had been replaced but the air handler had not. There were many phone calls to the seller and from the seller to Air Max, which was the initial installer of the condenser unit. Blame was being placed all around for why the entire system had not been replaced. As the new owners, it was very frustrating to have to deal with the finger-pointing from both sides on why our AC wasn't working during a heatwave. Finally, we talked to Air Max directly. The company was willing to work with us directly to resolve the issue. Matt worked out a deal for us to be able to get a new air handler installed. Once we were able to talk to Air Max directly, we were able to have AC within a few days. However, the air handler unit the company installed had a production defect. As soon as the AC was on for over an hour, it shut off completely. Air Max sent another technician out that same evening of install to check the unit and the next day, after speaking with the owner Abe directly, they sent a technician to the City of Industry to pick up a brand new air handler and install it. There are many places in this process where I could easily give Air Max a lower rating. But the issue was a complicated one that involved many different people, including the seller of our unit, trying to cover their tracks for a situation that shouldn't have happened. But, outside of that, Air Max was extremely responsive once we were able to let go of the issues that predated our purchase of the condo unit. Abe the owner was especially responsive and even called us back a month later to check on our unit. read more

No other provider was supplying Lennox which is the higher end for heating and air. All the workers were very professional, courteous and friendly. They installed in one day! Worst service ever! Took our money, many mistakes and once the install was complete we NEVER heard from them again! Justin Siva the sales person working through Lowe's told us we had free maintenance for 2 years but charged us for "Warranty Labor" for 2 years. Basically he duped us out of $500.00 that will do nothing. All they need to do is pray the system doesn't fail. No way to get our money back. No maintenance! Abe the supervisor claimed he programmed our thermostat to notify them when we needed a replacement Purair Filter but over a year later NOTHING. The person that answers the phone Elodie has no clue. Even goes as far to say she doesn't know much about the Pureair system. Tells me they don't order them but after a quick phone call to Lennox we find that's not true. All Dealers order all parts. She even emails me the wrong size and says "your filter size is 16x20. You can try to look for a "pure air maintenance kit" maybe that helps" WOW! He calls after I raise all these concerns with Air Max Abe the supervisor calls and confirms they do order all parts. Then he's trying to explain how to program the Thermostat when HE programmed it? We have in writing from Justin that the system we purchased would qualify for up to $4,500.00 in rebated! Not even close. Not even a third. We were forced to find a company through Lennox that would service our system and replace the filter which we did. Do not hire these people. If you do, have an attorney look at the contract before your sign it. read more

I am updating my review because of the following: I got my unit installed back in May 2019 with no permit because that's how AirMax did my job. And I didn't know I was required to have a permit. Later I was being asked by my landlord about the permit and I informed Abe and he said he would get it. November, December 2019 passed and nothing. He would read my texts messages and would not respond. I could see he read them because of the "Read" feature. In January 2020 he finally got back to me. Abe told me something along the lines that he changed his mind and he would not get my permit unless I removed my Yelp review. I said no. I was so worried my unit was going to be removed because there was no permit. And the unit was not cheap. No other company wanted to get a permit for an installation they didn't do. Fast forward to April 2020, after my neighbor was taking Abe to court for a similar permit situation, he randomly reached out to me and left a voicemail saying he would get the permit. He no longer mentioned the Yelp review. I wondered if it was because of the court situation with my neighbor, but I figured I rather let him get the permit than to take him to court too because it's such a hassle. The day I received my permit (early September 2020) The permit specialist approached me in person to address the Yelp review I had previously written. He talked to me to reconsider removing the Yelp review. He explained how it was hurting the company, and told me to name my price. I informed him that I would think about it. Honestly he made me feel so bad. My intention is not to hurt any company, I just wanted to provide my experience as it is the point of writing reviews. I was offered compensation to remove it, but I did not feel right about that because who knows who else might go through similar experiences as my neighbor and I did. Unfortunately, my A/C started acting up and it was not cooling (end of September 2020). I had another company come in to check it and they suggested I reach out to whoever installed it because the part that needed replacement had a 5 year warranty. So I called AirMax to get an appointment and it was given to me by the permit specialist. The permit specialist then called me back again and told me they would come out to fix it at no cost but I would have to remove my Yelp review. I said I would not do that and to invoice me for the repair. He questioned why I would want to pay if I could just remove the review and have my repair for free. I was feeling pressured to remove the Yelp review. It was getting so hot and I really just wanted my air fixed right away, however I continued to say I would not remove it. By the next morning, the receptionist left a voicemail saying they were canceling my service appointment. It was very clear that since I said I would not remove my Yelp review, they decided to cancel my appointment. It was honestly for the best. I was always nervous/anxious when dealing with this company. Please AirMax, I would appreciate if you do not contact me anymore about the Yelp review. It took over a year and all these experiences for you to do what you should have done from the get-go. I get it, nobody is perfect and mistakes are made--taking ownership of them is what makes a difference. Accept the mistake, and accept the review. Maybe others have good experiences with AirMax, but for me it was really bad. I continue to not recommend this company. Thankfully, I found a new one I can trust. read more

We recently had our complete HVAC system replaced including ductwork, as our then ductwork contained asbestos. The team at Air Max did an excellent job for us, even the HERS testing person commented that he was impressed with the install. The guys were polite and kept everything clean and tidy even though it was raining pretty much everyday during the 3 day install. During a follow up visit, I asked Rami, the technician, about a concern I had which involved inspecting the drain line under the house in the crawl space. He didn't hesitate to check it out, made an adjustment and it was done. The office personnel has always been helpful and responsive. Everything is working well so far and I would recommend them to anyone looking to replace their HVAC System. read more
