Beware of replacement item mark-up! They replaced an old heater thermostat with a new entry-level unit and marked it up 200%. Service was fine but an item that was in the $50 dollar range online they charged $165 for. Gouging to the extreme. read more

The furnace in my rental broke down in the middle of a cold spell. Arie was wonderful. He responded to my request quickly, and assessed the problem. I never usually write any reviews but it would feel wrong if I didn't. Starting last summer, it's been a nightmare! My a/c had problems in the summer . I had 2 different companies come out because one company fixed it but it stopped working a couple weeks later. Then I called back the same company and they said it was something else and the charged me again without even explaining what was going on with my ac so I tried calling a different company and they fixed it but it broke again . At this point I spent over a couple thousand dollars fixing my unit and then the weather started to get cooler and I didn't have money to just throw away . I decided to wait and then my heater broke. So I called A/D and they fixed my heater temporarily but was very honest letting me know that it was most likely going to break again and explained that my system is 17 years and it's not recommended to invest all this money on an old unit. They didn't charge me all this money to fix my heater. They only charged me for a small fee for going out there. Sure enough my heater broke again and at this point I had to get a whole new system. I shopped around and found that A/D was 3-4 thousand dollars cheaper then the other companies. So I went and got a new system with A/D. What I l8ke about Arie the owner was that he is compassionate towards his customer and explained everything thoroughly to me. I also liked his employees who were very nice and got the job done timely. They don't leave a mess and clean up at the end of the day. Everyone was very nice. If there were a "10" rating I would give it. My air conditioning went out during this horrible heatwave. I called them early in the morning before they were even open and a live answering service took my call and said someone would get back to me. Within a half hour, the owner, Ari, called me and told me that he was on his way into the shop, would check the schedule and get someone to me as soon as possible. He also promised to call me back within 30 minutes and kept his promise. I was told that someone would arrive between 8:30 and 9:30 AM (the business opens at 9:30). By 9AM Rick had arrived. Like Ari, he was friendly and personable and set right to work to figure out what was wrong, explaining everything along the way and inviting me to look at exactly how he was testing to find out what was wrong. He had to leave briefly to get a part for the final fix but took the time to get everything working temporarily before he left. Rick returned, checked everything out and had me up and running soon afterward. I was so impressed with him and with the company that I signed up for the regular maintenance plan. So, I can recommend A/D highly -- fast, knowledgeable service from an excellent repair technician from a company owned by someone who really cares about his business and his customers. read more

This company serviced the central air in the last place I lived in and were always prompt with their maintenance schedules. I have since moved so I called to ask if they can give me an estimate for a new unit and I made sure to specifically ask if: 1. They charge for estimates 2. Do they service my area. They said, no charge for estimates and yes they service my area. After setting up an appointment they called to reschedule from Friday to Saturday, I made it a point to tell the receptionist that if they didn't service my area we could just cancel the appointment. She said no its fine. When he got here he wasn't very happy because we are far from Van Nuys. He was pleasant enough to look around and climb in the attic and stuff. As he gets ready to leave he asks me if I know their is a service fee for coming out of the area. I politely said no, I checked before scheduling. Then he said he only gives estimates for an $80 fee. What completely baffled me was when he went to his car to put the ladder away, (so I thought...) but he actually just got in his car and left. No estimate, no "we will be in touch", nothing. WTF At this point I'm really confused, I don't know what just happened. I check online again about the FREE INSTALLATION ESTIMATES, sure enough it is advertised as so. I call their office to ask when someone is going to call me with an estimate, they said they would call me back to let me know. I'm still waiting but I don't expect to get a call back. read more

My heater was making strange thumping sounds when I turned it on and a friend suggested I call these guys since she had used them before for get ac. They gave me a good price and the guy showed up on time and was really helpful. The work he did was fairly quick and didn't hurt my wallet to bad. I had them replace my old furnace and AC unit. I was dreading the process, but they made it painless. The technicians were so professional and efficient. They also replaced my ducts, and still finished everything in a day and a half. Before leaving, they tested everything and set up my new Nest thermostat. If you need an air conditioner, do not call this company and make the same mistake I did. He is not dependable and a very bad businessman Arie Genchel installed my air conditioner 5 years ago with a 10 year warranty. I am having a problem that it turns off and on every 2 minutes and its is short cycling. Arie has promised to come out to check my problem out every day for the last 1-1/2 weeks and never shows up. He told me to call anytime, at 7am or 8pm in the evening and he would personally come out to help with my problem. on Friday 9/1/17 I talked to him at 3pm and he promised to be out himself after he finishes work at the shop. Instead of showing up as promised, he blocked his phone for 3 days and I could not contact him until 9/5/17. Every time I call him he has a million excuses. Today I had to call another air conditioning company, at my expense He is not reputable and he is dishonest. read more

My central air blew out and with one call they scheduled the next day, called & emailed to tell me when they were coming, were on time, diagnosed the problem, went and got the parts, came back the same day. SO IMPRESSED! David & Ali & Leon all took care of me, made my house cool again, and Dena in the office was so helpful for payment and invoice. What a PRO JOB! My heater's automatic gas valve was leaking gas (according to the Gas Company) and I am extremely pleased that l called A/D air conditioning and heating. The owner, Arie Genchel is reliable and trustworthy. He is also very knowledgeable and friendly. Arie spoke to me on the phone a few times, answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns with utmost professionalism and patience. He quoted me a fair price for replacing the gas valve and repairing/servicing the heater/air conditioning unit. Arie was very accommodating, soon ordered the part and send it with a team of two very polite and professional techs to our home. Arie's techs were diligent, thorough, explained things, and even gave me some tips as to what to look for and how to clean or maintain the AC and the heater for getting more efficiency. I purchased a unit through AD airconditioning about 5 years ago and am happy with it. I call them to check and service my system once a year and generally have a positive experience with their technicians. The last time I called them, though the technicians were almost 4 hours late, which would have been okay if they had called and kept me apprised of their schedule and apologized once they finally arrived. The technician, Oscar, that showed up was in a very bad mood- obviously having a bad day and unfortunately taking it out on his customers. I was very shocked and unhappy with Oscars' attitude toward me and his refusal to go under my house to check the ducting because it is "an old house and might have asbestos". He left my house without doing anything and I immediately called the company to complain. Within a half hour the owner of the company called me back and when he heard what had happened he apologized profusely. He offered to send a different technician to my house and do whatever needed to be done to make me happy and win back my loyalty and he told me there would be no charge for this service call at all. A few days later a much more pleasant and professional team of two came to my house and did what needed to be done. As promised, I was not charged. The fact that Ari, the owner , was so polite and eager to keep my business was worth a lot to me. I will continue to call AD airconditioning for my needs since aside from this one unpleasant experience they have been a generally very satisfying business to deal with. read more

AD to the rescue. In the peak of last week's heat wave our 9 year old Payne air conditioner flat-lined. dead Kaput nothing. Sent out a frantic call to friends for references..first place so busy has yet to return call..Second guy responded quickly but booked through next week. Vivian at AD took my call put me on hold while she checked schedules and said she could have someone out in a hour and a half. I was thrilled it was just going to be the same day. Carlos and Hugo arrived within that window. (Again impressed!) and quickly set about assessing the situation....The motor was gone, was in need of a new capacitator (sp?) and probably some freon. They needed to bring my old motor in so they could do an exact match. We called Vivian and again with a little back and forth got the first appt for the next day. Carlos was on time and got to work right away and within and hour we had things up and running. It wasn't inexpensive the motor and capacitator with tax ran $632, 2.5 pounds of freon $160 and 2 Hours labor $170. --962.20 all told. BUT I have never had a service call on this unit since 2005 --so all told a value. Really a great experience from start to finish. Good office support. professional, knowledgeable and friendly field techs, the right equipment and the fastest turnaround anyone could reasonably expect. THANK YOU!!!! read more

Arie was extremely rude !! He came out to fix my air conditioner, together we decided to change my unit from a 3.5 ton to a 5 ton. He quoted me one price, and when the job was done the price went up by $1,500. He was rude and not professional, while he was working on the unit, he never mentioned the fact that all my ducting was too small and now he wants more money to reduct my home, seriously!!! I have used Arie in the past, he installed my old unit 12 years prior and has serviced it through the years, you think he would know in advance that the ducting need to be changed! NO....... he took the opportunity to grab the job and then let me know that its "not advisable to keep the small ducts" That is not customer service to me. On top of everything when I called in to pay they told me there would be an added 5% charge for credit cards, which was not disclosed to me when we spoke on the phone. Arie has always had an edge in his voice but this time he went to far, when I spoke to him about it, all he did was yell and scream at me, and on top of it his office hung up on me when I called them. I've got to say that Arie and his team are great. Fast, efficient and honest. But most importantly, they are responsive. Have used them for years, but just haven't made the time to review (my bad). A few months ago, a tree trimmer in the area cut a power line causing a power failure and a significant power surge. When the power came back on, we found that many of our appliances weren't working. The biggest problem was that the AC wasn't working. Apparently the surge fried a number of control boards, including the AC system. Of course this was during a valley heat wave. Called AD that morning and they were out the same day and got the system up and running. Just came back the other evening from vacation (again during one of the heat waves) and the AC wasn't working. First impression is everything. They promised to arrive between 1 and 3 and they did. 1:05 to be exact. By 1:30 we had a diagnosis and by 3 p.m. a resolution to our problem. We didn't expect it to be cheap and it wasn't, but Richard Martinez, their technician, explained everything and showed us step by step what needed to be done in order to repair our AC. He was very patient and understanding, a pleasure to do business with. And of course Ari, the boss, was also very accommodating.
