I sampled the Reese's flavor, caramel coffee, and one other, but the flavors were all so mild that I really couldn't tell them apart. You'd think that peanut butter would come through in the Reese's, but no. And the caramel coffee has no coffee flavor at all. I felt bad for the young woman soloing the empty front of house. She looked so happy to actually have customers. I can't believe how icy all the flavors are. Many people say this is good gelato, but it isn't. The only thing I can think is the people who wrote the positive reviews don't know what good gelato is like. Over the past couple of years, I've been here three times, mostly because it was summer and seems to be the only gelato place in downtown Edmonds, but I am determined to avoid it in the future. Three strikes. The gelato from Canario is not good gelato. Heck, it isn't even good ice cream! Gelato is creamy and rich. The stuff that Canario serves always has grainy ice crystals in it and, frankly, tastes like ice milk. It's not creamy at all and the flavors are weak. Today's stratiatella was especially bad. Not just ice crystals. Mine had some huge chunks of ice in it. I think the owners need to go back to gelato school. read more

Cute little gelato shop! Its rather expensive for such a little scoop they give, but I presume its because of the quality. They're open late on a weekday which is why we went in to celebrate getting a new work contract haha. We got a lemon, a strawberry, and a strawberry mango, the flavor is very condensed, fresh and delicious. You may notice some of the bins of gelato are larger than others. I was very hesitant coming here because of the low reviews, but I sure was proven wrong! I hadn't had gelato in a long time too. The inside is cute, and it was pretty calm too. I got a modern kind of farmhouse vibe. I had seen a lot of reviews on how the service was bad, but when we were there, the service was pretty good. I mean it was bad, but our server was pretty nice and sweet. Anyways, the main reason that I was proven wrong was because of the amazing sorbet and gelato!! All of them were super bold in their taste and flavors. I had a chance to try the vanilla, mango, ruby chocolate, and a dark chocolate (I can't recall the actual name). The vanilla was super creamy, probably the softest and creamiest out of all of the ones I tried. It was also very buttery, both in the texture and flavor, it was quite intriguing. The mango was amazingly refreshing, but also quite tart. It really tasted like as if I was biting into a real mango. That was pretty much it for the mango. The ruby chocolate on the other hand was very interesting. I still couldn't distinguish what it reminded me of. I kept finding myself eating it some more trying to figure out what it tasted like. It was more like a milk chocolate, and slightly reminded me of fondant? Finally, the dark chocolate, probably my favorite one of the night, competing with the ruby chocolate. The dark chocolate was insanely rich, and was actually slightly fudgey. It was definetly the thickest, and the most dense. It reminded me a lot of a brownie. Overall, everything was very impressive, and everything I had that night was so luscious and delicious! Stopped here for the first time tonight after our dinner in Edmonds! My husband was craving ice cream and after all, it is Father's Day weekend so he gets what he wants... just this one time. Lol. We googled ice cream and we didn't feel like DQ and we searched a little more and found this little cute spot! We went in and though the young gal working there didn't seem to happy to be there, we didn't let that stop us from going in. We looked at their flavors and all seemed yummy. I wished though they had more of a variety. I was craving birthday cake and didn't see it. They had about 3 things of butterscotch and 3 tubs of peanut butter. A lot of the same flavors. We decided with just the last bit of coconut they had and a scoop of peanut butter. Enjoyed both. They were truly creamy and tasted delicious. We will be back! Oh! Canarino Gelato in Old Mill Town/Edmonds biggest plus are the business hours. Saturday evening, for example, open until 11pm. Snoreline, I meant Shoreline, pretty much closes shop by 6pm. The attention to detail is way off though during my 90 minutes spent there. See my tip comment. Weird sounds, worn chair, rickety table, dead bugs, chandeliers with burnt out bulbs, counter staff talking too loudly over the generic cafe din, focal fireplace during a warm summer night, ad naseum. Between the three of us, we tried scoops of dark chocolate, vanilla, grape, nutella, and strawberry. One had a just okay Caffe Vita mocha. I tried Canarino on a sunny Sunday afternoon. I got a scoop of the butterscotch and of the peanut butter. Both were pretty good and I thought the service was fine. It was pretty creamy and not icy. I happened in on a day that some equipment was down, so the selection was limited (still 7 or 8 flavours of gelato and sorbetto) , so I tried their signature Canario, with a nice lemon zing and sweet cookie crumble. It was fabulous, and I definitely want to come back to sample some more. The staff was sweet and helpful, and it's a perfect location near to downtown Edmonds shops and restaurants.
