I am extremely skeptical of restaurants where the hype is through the roof. Doubly so when multiple locations pop up left and right. But after stopping by the Edmonds location, I'm happy to say that Moto Pizza is the real deal. I kept things simple with a pepperoni pizza, and it was absolutely divine. The texture and flavor was perfection, and everything I could hope for from a Detroit style pan pizza. There are many other options available in the Seattle area, but they all have issues ranging from underbaked crust to overly salty pepperoni. With Moto, I had no notes. I'll also give a shout to the staff. They're super helpful and clearly love their job. If Moto can keep the magic consistent as far out as Edmonds, I'm sure they'll be successful anywhere they open up. read more

When you walk in, you get a fun vibe thanks to the bold colors on the walls, the fun artwork and half a corvette hung on the wall! To order a pizza, you use their kiosk to enter your selection for a full or half size pizza. I ordered the KISSD half pizza and a lemonade. The KISSD pizza has pepperoni and spicy sausage with a spicy honey sauce on top. The pepperoni and spicy sausage were perfect, but I thought the spicy honey sauce elevated the pizza to another level! Everything was great from the moment we walked in until we were done. The girl who greeted us was so helpful, knowing it was our first time. Excellent happy hour! I'm really confused why this place doesn't have more reviews about its happy hour. From 7 to close on most days of the week, you can get a pizza and 2 drinks for $20! I mean, where else has a deal like that? Also their soft serve is excellent--I like it more than the pizza. During the summer, spending a Sunday evening in Edmonds became part of our routine. Catch the ferry to Kingston for the views, come back and enjoy some bomb happy hour pizza and dessert. Makes for a fun and low-cost date night. read more

This place is my go-to whenever I'm craving Detroit style pizza! They don't skimp on the toppings and I love that it has the perfect crunch and softness when bitting in. I've tried the Crab, Kissd, and Mr. Pig and my favorite is the Mr. Pig. It's very flavorful with a small kick to it. I also love that they have a happy hour menu from 7-10pm for a full-size (4 pieces) pizza + two drinks for $20! It's shareable because two pieces definitely fill me up. Service is mostly self-serve because you order through the screen and staff has been friendly every time I went. MOTO - This name sounds like a robot or an ET. It's not but the pizza is out of this world (ha ha). I've sampled this Detroit style pizza at T Mobile Park at an M's game and am always amazed at the very long lines there. The pizza is very tasty with a thick chewy crust and some great toppings. At our visit to the Edmonds location we ordered ahead and got the "All In" pizza which is a combo. It cost $23 and with tax and tip our bill was under $30. It was ready when we got there and we sat at a booth. We brought our own drinks in and they didn't seem to mind. They do offer soft serve ice cream as well at the counter. The Edmonds location is cute inside and looks like they are still moving in with a lot of large rolling carts and various other machinery along the side wall toward the rear of the restaurant. I got a Mr.Pig & Crab! They were both delicious I would definitely get these again. Services was great, was it was about 10-15mins. I KISSD pizza, which is a meat lovers of sorts. I also love how they have an arcade which is free to play, which make is a great way to pass the time and be nostalgic while waiting for the pizza. Great pizza! Moto had been on my list to try for quite a while. We went at 11am on a Saturday. At that time you can only order the solo size pizzas. And there did not seem to be a way to make any modifications. We wanted to try Kissd...but we didn't want the hot honey. But since we could not seem to make any modifications on the self order screen, we skipped that one. Our favorite by far was Mr Pig. It was excellent. Second favorite was pepperoni. We were not crazy about the beef adobe. But we would definitely come back and get the Mr. Pig and the pepperoni again. The crust is insanely good. Loved that they sell a "solo" pizza that's just 2 slices. Perfect for us to sample and not get stuffed. We ordered it for pick up, so I can't speak to anything about a dine-in experience. One slice per person was actually plenty as the crust is thick. We had the Kissd pizza. I liked the crust. It was tasty and fluffy and crunchy. I didn't care for the hot honey on it. If you like New York, Chicago, Detroit, or other regional styles and have ever wondered what a great Seattle style pizza would taste like, l'd say this is the best candidate. I would never have guessed that making a pizza that has Dungeness crab as the main topping could work, but I think it works really well here. Great blend of strong flavors that somehow still has crab as the star of the show. Same with their Clam Chowdah pizza. If there is such a thing as a Seattle style pizza, it's obviously gotta have fresh seafood on it. If anybody else does a good job of that, let me know. The crust itself was spongey and thick. The bottom part of the crust was cooked but not crispy. My pizza was covered with mushrooms and a balsamic glaze, which gave off a sweet finish. Now, I love mushrooms, the balsamic glaze was an okay addition. Was this the best pizza that I've ever had, no. It was a decent pizza, I've had better. However, when 1 of our 3 pizzas was taking longer than usual and other patrons behind us had gotten their order, she said that our remaining pizza is still being prepared. After about 15 mins, I went back to the front counter and asked what had happened and she noted that she gave it to someone else (as I had suspected). It wasn't busy. I said next time, just be honest and tell us what happened - she shook her head (?). She was nice to comp us ice cream but that wasn't the point. Just be transparent and open with patrons - as a server, people will often be forgiving. But when you try to hide a mistake, it does more harm than good in terms of service and reputation. read more

Will have to say the Mr. Pig pie was the best IMO. The sauce with the lechon was on point. The All-In was solid as well as the Kiss'd. The store in Edmonds had a great vibe, 3 arcade games for free. Decor was great and gave off old diner vibes. Thought the boxes they came in were really cool and high quality as well. Pretty easy set up. I think the thing that stood out to me first about MOTO was their unique pizzas. They have classic toppings and then also beef adobo, crab, and clam chowder inspired pizzas. We got the clam chowdah pizza because the whole clams on the pizza stood out to me and the concept overall intrigued us. I was really impressed by the flavor of the pizza when I first took a bite. It didn't exactly taste like clam chowder, but it did take the elements and apply it to a pizza pretty well. I wish there were more clam pieces. The garlic chili oil crunch was a nice touch to it. The edges of the pizza were pretty crispy. I like my pizzas to be more crispier and I felt the non-edge parts of MOTO was not as crispy as other places that I had. I definitely want to come back here to try their other pizzas. The Mr. Pig sounds interesting to me. I think the price is okay for what it is. Having just moved to the area about 2 months ago from Detroit, I was happy to see that Detroit-style pizza, the best pizza style (fight me), has grown so popular nationwide in the last couple of years, even making it to the Seattle area. I was a bit dismayed that pizzas from MOTO had to be reserved months in advance after reading some of the old reviews, but I guess at this point, it's expanded operations enough to operate more like a normal pizzeria. I placed a same day order online and was soon digging in. There are several characteristics that define Detroit-style. Firstly, a focaccia-like crust, airy on the interior, but with a crispness on the bottom and sides that's somewhat greasy but not overladen*. There must be Wisconsin brick cheese, melted on top and spread until it spills over the sides of the crust, creating a crisp caramelized cheese ring surrounding the pie. The pepperoni must be underneath the cheese**, and the tomato sauce, just a smattering of it, is spread on top of the cheese. The crust must remain crisp without becoming soggy with moisture. There must not be too many toppings to prevent the crust from compressing and ruining the texture. *Note 1: The grease is very important, both to allow the crust to crisp up and to act as a hydrophobic layer to prevent sogginess. **Note 2: This is the one trait I dislike about traditional Detroit-style, since it makes the pepperoni limp and soaked with grease. Any place that moves the pepperoni to the top is okay in my book. The pizza is typically made in only two sizes: 8in x 10in (aka Four Square) or 10in x 14in (aka Eight Square). The largest "shareable" pizzas made at MOTO are the four square size, which follows the trend of the more modern pizza joints in Detroit. MOTO also serves a personal size pizza that seems to be half a four square. I've never seen this size before, but it's nice touch! Pepperoni Pizza ($22) - I started with the pizza closest to a traditional Detroit-style pizza as possible. This pizza measures out at around 8in x 9in. Starting with the crust - the sides and bottom are appropriately caramelized with a nice slight crisp on the bottom and a good cheese crust on the sides. The center of the crust is compromised, compressed far too much from the weight of the copious amount of toppings, causing it to be more in line in texture with a NY-style pizza than Detroit-style. The crust nearer to the edges, on the other hand, is quite nice and airy and overall the crust is cooked very evenly and is not soggy at all. Cheese is melted on top of the crust, with what they call "Moto cheese blend." It's quite heavy, fatty, a bit buttery and milky, and almost a bit chewy. I don't know if it's pure Wisconsin brick cheese or if it's adulterated with a bit of mozzarella. They add absolute tons of pepperoni on top, way more than you'd find at any place in Detroit. They cup upwards and generally are cooked until crisp edges develop, although in some areas the slices are stacked on top of each other, causing the bottom layers of pepperoni to be soft. Finally, on top of everything else is a generous drizzle of tomato sauce and parmesan. The tomato sauce here is too tangy and acidic for my tastes. I feel like it could be cooked down a bit more to develop some of the tomato sweetness. Of course the entire pizza is a sodium bomb, but that's to be expected with the massive amounts of pepperoni. I wish the pizza were a bit lighter on the toppings, to allow the crust some breathing room and to lessen the levels of salt. To be fair, I found it to be better than some of the popular modern pizza spots in Detroit that feature soggy crusts, and also better than some of the mainstays that don't brown the pizza evenly. (3.5/5) Mr. Pig ($22) - I originally wanted the Personal size, but for some reason, it wasn't available for dinner. The crust is identically cooked, but the taste profile is completely different. It's mainly sweet and salty, with a slight bit of fruitiness. There's red sauce on top that's sweet and tangy, different from the tomato sauce on the pepperoni. There's a green sauce that's herbal, sweet, and quite citrus fruity. There's kind of a garlicky cheesy white sauce. A couple of chunks of fatty pork belly lie on top, with some chunks that are pure blocks of fat. Some sausage is scattered about, salty and a bit spicy. Some aggressively sweet onion adds to the dish. Overall, I think the flavors might be a bit too sweet for me, but it's nice to try. (3.5/5) For the freshest pizza, I arrived 10 minutes earlier than my pickup time and they had just taken the pizza out of the oven. Pricing is about 40-50% more than a similar pizza in Detroit (typical pepperoni only four square is $15-16). I feel like MOTO may be better served by removing some toppings and reducing the price. Pizza is all about the balance of ingredients and MOTO unfortunately doesn't excel in that regard. Still, it's an above average pizza and I would return. read more

Overall a good salad and worth repeats--far from the bottom of the list. Black garlic cheezy bread (sic) Huge flavors, tons of garlic aromas from the first second you open the door to get your food. Nice crusty chewy bread. Probably about 12 square inches (2" x 6") of bread for $15. Kisssd (sic) Great flavors, just the right amount of hot honey, not overly generous with the toppings. 4 slices of pie for $23. Good stuff, and our appetites get lesser and lesser all the time, so this wasn't too bad. But there's a Detroit-style pizzeria near us with bigger pies and thicker, more-flavorful crust, plus more toppings, for about the same price. Bottom line, Moto is a solid choice and worth checking out more than once. That bread is very craveable. I don't have them #1 in the area but they're top 5, no question. read more

It was also happy hour time, so we were able to get a pizza and two drinks for about $20. Also note, it's a self-serve kiosk at this location. We had ordered the Mr. Pig which had lechon kawali and a bunch of cheeses. It was pretty dang tasty and felt filling very quickly. The meats were flavourful and the pizza was sauced up. My girlfriend did say it tasted a little too sweet for her, but she also really liked the pizza overall. I can see MOTO as a place I would come back to try again, and I'm sure I will soon! Isn't it nice when the hype is deserved? That's Moto. First, the space. Super cool, you can see the faded out Tavern sign out front, walk in and it then feels like a 50s diner, except it smells like damn good pizza. From the cashier to the kitchen, the vibe of the place is "I like pizza, I like these ppl and I like this place" which adds a lot. Inside sparkling clean too. Ok the pies. Detroit style. Thick. The crust is crispy and delish. You'll want to take a walk afterwards. Good thing downtown Edmonds is a lovely place for a stroll. Got the Kissd, Adobo, Crab and Mr Pig. Kissd had a lovely hot honey that added just enough sweetness to a classic pepp and sausage. Crab is simpler, had nice chunks of crab, which really let that shine.
