I was staying across the street and in the mood for a couple slices of NY style pizza so was excited to find Brooklyn Bros so close. I spotted a lunch special including 2 slices and a fountain drink which sounded good but I noticed I was overcharged by a dollar. I think I got charged a la carte for everything instead of getting the special price. I flagged it and was issued a refund on the spot. One of the employees seemed unclear about the lunch special. The pizza wasn't bad, but I've also had much better NY style pizza over the years. It has a thin, crispy base with some puffy edges and not overly cheesy or greasy, but still lacked any distinguishing flavors or characteristics to crave more. There was a stale quality to it, and at nearly $5/slice, it feels overpriced given that the slices aren't that big or special. The interior is clean and a good spot to catch a game on TV, but the guys behind the counter didn't seem that friendly and just kind of go through the motions. However, when you order by the slice - it is not made fresh + taste like pizza you would buy at 7.11 cold + stale. Anyways, just not for me + not worth the price. I have to give 5 stars for this place. First time here and was looking for a bite to eat before I headed to the ferry. Came in right before closing not realizing they were about to close and they told me they were closed. I asked if I could get a slice of pizza and they said yes that is fine. I was expecting just one slice but they gave me three which was amazing and heated it up for me too! They probably had to throw out what didn't sell at the end of the day which is what happens often with restaurants so I was lucky to get 3 slices for $5 including tip. My husband and I saw Brooklyn Bros on the way to the Mukilteo ferry, and I made a note to look at it again when we were on our way back to get pizza from here. I placed an online order before they opened. They open at 11 AM, and the earliest I could pick up was at 12 pm. I put in an order for an 18 inch Bowery (pepperoni, Italian sausage, and red onions), well done. It was nice that you could add more toppings if you wanted as well. They had an extensive list. I don't know if you could make your own pizza, I didn't see that option, but it would have been nice to have been able to do. We got on the 11:30 AM ferry from Whidbey back over and got to Brooklyn Bros Pizza a little before 12 PM. I went in, let the guy know my name/order, and he had it boxed and ready for me in about 5 minutes. It smelled AMAZING. The drive back to our place was about 30 minutes, and the whole time, the pizza smell never let up. YUM. When we got back to our place, we dug in. This is some good pizza. The sausage is super flavorful. I love the pepperoni. It's the smaller size pepperoni that we really like. It's a pretty big pizza for a good price in my opinion. If this place was closer to us, I would absolutely get pizza from here all the time. Right now, it'll just have to be a treat on the way home from the ferry. They also sell by the slices as well. The food quality is the same from location to location, from everything I've seen. What changes is the character and personality of each location. Everett is the coolest, with the brick building suiting the by-the-slice and dining room vibe perfectly. They also get the most foot traffic, which fits. This Mukilteo location is more on the strip mall side. Plenty of parking, almost no foot traffic, plenty of elbow room inside. They do a ton of to-go and delivery business. In fact, I've never eaten at the place. I've come in and picked up at least half a dozen times. What stands out about that here is that they wait to finish the final heat-through of the pie until you come pick it up, so the pie doesn't cool off while it waits for you. I've ordered the New York Combos and the Sicilian pie, to feed as few as 2-3 people up to as many as 20. Every pie has been really tasty, made well, very filling. They put on plenty of toppings, and the crust isn't crackery-thin but it doesn't weigh you down by any means. The Sicilian has a much heavier crust but it's airy enough that it's easy to eat and doesn't feel like a bowlful of oatmeal with every bite. The prices are fair, and the kids behind the counter are always super nice. Put it this way--I'm not the biggest pizza buyer; it has taken me over 2 years to order half a dozen or so times from here. But they are the place I order from the most, by far, even though they don't deliver to my house. I gotta go get it, and they still win out over places that deliver. read more

One star for the customer service and for serving salad that should have been trash. Stopped in to pick up a to go order and was informed my pizza had just gone in the oven and would be 10 minutes. Cool! I love to eat a slice hot from the oven before I head home. I sat down and entertained myself on my phone while I waited. After what seemed like a long wait (turned out to be about 45 minutes)...still no pizza? I went to order a soda and an extra salad dressing. I stood at the counter for several minutes before someone noticed me, even though there were 3 guys behind the counter and the place was nearly empty. A couple of them were busy balancing a dough tub on someone's head. I inquired about my order and the guy looked annoyed with me for asking. Said they hadn't told him I was here. (I wonder what he thought I was doing sitting in the restaurant for nearly an hour with no food at a table in front by the door like a person waiting for a to go order?) No apologizes for the inconvenience or anything and proceeds to put my pizza in the oven to reheat it so I can wait even longer. I asked him to just put it in a box so I could go. I would have forgotten about it if I hadn't come home and opened up the saddest looking box of brown lettuce with a few shards of Parmesan passing for a $13 Caesar Salad. There are a few decent pizza places in the area (one less now, RIP Sullys), but Brooklyn Bros is easily the best, highest quality pizza in town. Yes, it's more expensive than Papa John's or whatever, but any decent pizza is. And this is better than "decent"! The bad reviews of this place are super weird. Some are obviously fake or driven by some personal grudge (like the last reviewer before me, "Bishop"). I can't understand how someone couldn't like the food, but I suppose that's subjective. The service has always been good in my experience. Friendly, prompt, etc. What put Brooklyn Bros on a new level, though, was sometime in the last year when they hired Mary to work the front counter. She is SO warm, kind and personable. She makes genuine connections with her customers, gives great advice about the food, and performs her job with ease and precision. Pizza is decent if you order a full pizza. Individual slices are atrocious having sat under lights for hours. The older lady at the register has a lot to learn when it comes to human interaction. She is condescending, rude and has no patience. I've tried this location three times over the past few years and had the same experience with her each time. This review is of a sit-down experience, not take-out. I do love a good thin-crust pizza, and they offer both thick (called "Siciliano") and thin here. The faster, hotter cooking method on thin pies makes for a more aromatic and flavorful slice, the toppings seared and not over-cooked, and the bit of char on the crust adds a toasty flavor and more interesting tooth and satisfying mouth feel than the thick, bready crusts on casserole-like deep-dish pies. That said, they do a fair job on thin pies here. I think they over-work the crust slightly, (handling the dough too much, which over-develops the gluten and makes for an overly-chewy crust) but they bake it perfectly. I would prefer a richer and spicier sauce with less oil and more herb and acid, but theirs isn't bad and gets the job done. Still: a way-above-average pie. But the salads are a misery. Old lettuce with blackening rot at the edges of the leaves, croutons you could sand down woodwork with, too much stringy onion, sloppy plating and non-sensical portions (tiny salad on giant plate? Why?)...don't get the salads. Service is prompt and friendly. Beer selection is good and highly local, though IPA-heavy. Tables and booths are not very clean or well-stocked, covered in graffiti (deliberately I think; yuck) and obsequious music competes with food network television for your attention. Maybe someone's idea of comfortable, or a way to distract patrons from the substandard salads, who knows. This joint might be ok for take-out, for thin-pie lovers without access to Italian Family Pizza (Seattle), which still sets the bar in this area, as far as I'm concerned (those boys can make a real salad too, BTW). Not recommended for sit-down, unless you must. read more
