Canal is a go-to tradition that my sister and I have created whenever we're traveling down I-26. In my personal opinion, I prefer Canal over Starbucks, only because I feel that Starbucks is overrated. Don't get me wrong, I like Starbucks too, but if I had a choice, I'd choose Canal every time. I thoroughly enjoy this location because the baristas are always friendly, the service is consistently good, and the drinks are always spot on. My favorite drinks to get are the 30 Below drinks. I usually go for a large salted caramel 30 Below. Recently, I tried their Maple waffle ( sausage and egg between two maple waffles) and it was really delicious too. I HIGHLY recommend this location. Whenever I'm rolling down I-26, the trip isn't complete unless we make a stop by Canal! Whether it's for their amazing drinks or the warm, welcoming atmosphere, Canal always hits the spot and makes our travels even more enjoyable.

Great road-trip stop! Lots of snack options and treats for the dogs :)

Fast friendly service as we stoped through on a roadtrip. Chai latter was delicious with donut holes! Also had a turkey sandwich to save for later. Staff was so kind to our dogs and gave them treats.

Service was good. Coffee is gross and food was also very poor. Cute place and location but would not visit again. Pic of donut holes- soggy and flaky

The food is amazing, and the service is quick! Always met with smiles and would definitely reccomend the lavender and honey oat latte.

Meh. First of all you cannot view the coffee menu in the website. You can only buy "swag" and…read morecoffee by the pound. Also this location IS NOT a drive through even though it indicates that it is on Google maps and Yelp. It's such an irritating thing when a business, especially a coffee location, keeps the only menu available at the cash register. This means that the line backs up and everybody has to wait so that the the peeps at the front have to spend several minutes at the cash register to figure out what they want. That adds to the slowness of the baristas, which are pretty ho-hum about the whole endeavor. We each got lattes, I got the spicy honey-cinnamon and G got a regular. Nothing special about either, just middle of the road. In addition we asked for a "Pupa-chino", for our Puppy-Dog, which is usually a small cup of whipped cream that most coffee shops (and even McDonald's) give you for no charge. When we looked at the receipt they had charged us $1.50. Would have been nice to know they charge for it. It was huge, a full 12 ounce cup of which we ended up tossing out half of. Puppy-Dog certainly enjoyed what he got but it was just way too much greasy fatness for him. Finally, I'm not sure what the deal is, the people working there are as quiet as mice. I had to ask the girl to speak up at the check out because we couldn't hear anything she was saying. The person who called people's orders out was also really mousy quiet and so orders were piling up. We just got the vibe of incompetence and mediocrity. Likely wouldn't come back.

PSA/spoiler: long-winded but wholesome ending My boyfriend…read moreand I have eaten here a handful of times previously, and we went in for brunch again yesterday. (side note: for context, we both have years of experience working in the food service industry & are very patient/understanding, sometimes at our own detriment, bc we know how unpredictable working in restaurants can be.) The restaurant was moderately busy, but there were a few open tables. Two ladies were already waiting to be seated at the hostess stand, and although the hostess was physically present, she didn't greet us when we walked in, nor was she talking to the 2 women waiting in front of us. I'm not sure if she was in her own world or having an off day but she didn't acknowledge us at all and avoided speaking to/making eye contact with all of us at the front door for 5-10 minutes. I wasn't sure if she'd already spoken to the ladies beforehand, and maybe that's why she didn't feel the need to say anything to my bf and i but it was insanely awkward, to say the least. However, after she wiped a table down and we were seated, not a big deal by any means. Our waitress got our drinks, took our order, and brought our food out very quickly. Both my bf and I ordered the crab benedict biscuit - his came out perfectly and was delicious! The only issue with mine was that the egg yolk looked like it'd come from a boiled egg and had the consistency of a piece of sidewalk chalk. As someone who usually orders eggs sunny side up or over-easy, my bf and I both knew I was either going to waste the entire meal or have to ask for a new egg (and I hate asking for things bc I feel like it's an inconvenience). We eventually settled on asking for a new egg bc I hadn't eaten anything all day and was pretty hungry. I started looking around the restaurant to see if I could see our waitress. I saw her but she didn't see me and I didn't want to bug her. It was actually the owner/GM Danielle who saw me scanning the restaurant and came over almost immediately asking if I needed something. I explained the minor problem and apologized for being a pain and when I say she couldn't have been more kind, helpful, and absolutely hilarious, I mean it from the bottom of my heart! Danielle ended up getting me a crab benedict biscuit to-go (we had plans & were on a time crunch), talked to the kitchen to see what happened since both mine and my bf's were made together, chatted with us for a bit, and comped our bill. I continued to apologize, thank her for her help, and told her it really wasn't necessary to comp anything bc it wasn't a big deal at all and she'd resolved the issue but she insisted. Needless to say, we will 1000% be going back thanks to Danielle! Loved getting to talk with and meet a genuinely kind-hearted person/new(er) small business owner in Chapin. You rock Danielle For anyone who made it to the end of this dissertation and has the pleasure of meeting/seeing Danielle at Bakon, do yourself a favor and ask her to do an impression of a piece of floppy bacon.
