I use to love TSC. What has happened to restaurants? TSC Harbison Blvd location near Publix is the worst. Filthy cringe. I was there twice in two months. Pour judgement on my part and today was my last visit. I purchased a smoothie both times. Today I almost returned it for a refund but instead poured it out. Prep area floors were saturated, wet on both occasions. These are health and safety hazzards/violations. Staff seemed unconcerned, uncaring, not particularly involved. I noticed one employees shirt front was soaked. Understating when I say the premises were very unkept, unclean. While there I didn't notice the restaurant rating but I hope DHEC gets involved and shuts it down. We need better. read more

Me and my family went here to get a smoothie but we waited 40 minutes just to have 2 of our smoothies. People who ordered after us got their things first and the server had a big attitude. She did not read the label on the smoothie because she waited 20 minutes to give us our last smoothie that was on the side. The second we left she smirked and gave us a bad look. Came into this establishment for lunch today while making a few errands. The place was clean and not many people were inside. There were a bunch of kids in the back working. While we waited at the front, they still stayed in the back and then finally one came up front and took the orders. I ordered the pomegranate plunge (I think that's the name) smoothie and the chicken pesto wrap! I'm not sure what Chicken Gods created this masterpiece, but it is so delicious! I mean, it is really DELICIOUS! And that smoothie, should be outlawed for how good it is. Who comes up with these things? Can I shake a hand? Keep up the good work. Alright so this was the second time I have had an incident at this location which is why I don't like to come here. I typically prefer the one off belt line but this one is closer to my job. Coincidentally, both times have been with the same server (Young brown guy, thick black hair). This time I ordered the new chicken and avocado breakfast flat bread. My food came out prepared correctly. However when I tasted it I realized I didn't really like the chipotle mayo and the sandwich was LOADED with it. So I promptly went back inside to see if I could exchange it. When I got inside the brown thick haired guy approached with an attitude (he was not the guy who took my order that guy was great). I told him I had just ordered this sandwich but that I didn't like the sauce and it was too over powering to ignore. Instead of apologizing he kind of rolled his eyes and said "well how long ago did you order it?"....I told him that it hadn't even been 5 minutes. I literally went to my car took two bites and walked back in. Then with an attitude he asked me "what do you want instead?" I told him I wanted the same sandwich just without any sauce. He rolled his eyes and took it back. I waited patiently and got a new sandwich. I got to my car and guess what...THE SANDWICH STILL HAD SAUCE ON IT. At this point I was late for work and just took the sandwich back. I didn't ask for a refund or anything because I didn't have time and honestly I was just frustrated. The guy who took my sandwich back (my initial cashier) was very apologetic and said there had been a communication issue. This is the second time this server (Brown guy with thick black hair) has had a "communication issue" with my order. First time was a few months ago he forgot to put the ginger in my smoothie and I just didn't feel like going back and forth so I let it go. But I did yelp about it. To management: That particular server has a LISTENING PROBLEM. Im not sure if he is stoned or what but maybe have a sit down with him on how to be a better listener and communicator. The staff is not knowledgeable on anything. They are not up to date with the scanner for the app. They had no way of giving us credit for the visit. Before I purchased out three smoothies I was told I would be able to upload the receipt to the app!!! That was just a ploy to get me to purchase. Once I purchased the smoothies I was told I should go to google and figure out how to send my receipt because none of them had ever done so. Great Drink but horrible customer service. Lack of communication made our visit less then stellar. We waited a good 30 minutes because the peanut butter was frozen and they were waiting for it to thaw. Ok no problem but how about letting your customers know what's going on. Not a good feeling when everyone who orders after you is getting their drinks and walking out happy as a clam and we are looking like sitting ducks who are clearly growing more and more frustrated -__- Doubt we will return that kinda ruined the moment for us. If you are in a hurry don't bother. There have been three customer complaints with no resolution in the last 30 mins. The food is sub par for the price. There was limited to no hummus on my veggie wrap. My advice, don't go. There was a problem with my smoothie and when asked if there was a way to get something else because I was a first time customer, I was told that their policy stated that they only replace stuff if it's their fault. My bad- I've never been here before and I happened to order the one the that didn't have sweetener in it so, it tasted bitter and was not what I was looking for. And just a side note, how do I know if it's your fault or not because I don't know what it's supposed to taste like, because I'VE NEVER BEEN HERE BEFORE. Eventually they agreed to sweeten my smoothie but my problem with this is why are you not educating your new customer on which smoothie are sweetened or unsweetened especially since I recognized myself as a first time customer when I got up to the register. After asking for the manager on duty because the "shift led" did not resolve the problem. She explained the policy again, which as a customer I don't care about, I just want you to fix the problem. My girlfriend informed her that we had not had a great experience with the first person we asked for help from and with great hopes of a resolution the end of the conversation resulted in us being told never to come back. No worries, the lack of customer service, the sub par food and the unwilling to just remake a smoothie ended in a verbal assault by the Store Manager. I will not come back. Tropical Smoothie is a fantastic choice if you are interested in a more healthy option when you are out and about in the Harbison Blvd area. The staff are typically young but friendly. I'm giving this place 4 stars for the smoothies (+5 stars), but would not recommend the food at all (-1 star). Most of the sandwiches are pretty mediocre, but will do the job if you are really hungry. Parking is plentiful and free. This restaurant is located within an outdoor mall. Overall, highly recommend. PRO TIP: Call your smoothe order in at least 10 minutes before you get there to prevent waiting on your order. They put it in a special freezer / cooler, so it is ice cold when you pick it up. read more

I went into this location and ordered my usual: a Bahama Mama smoothie. I placed my order, and immediately had the cashier walk back into the kitchen. I waited at the register (unfortunately holding other customers up) until a new one came out. I requested the previous cashier actually take my order. They did, and never asked me if I wanted a receipt. I had to wait until the next customer ordered to ask for a receipt. Once all that finished, I sat down and waited for 10 minutes only to see that the cashier had forgotten to say my smoothie was ready. When I got it, it was good (which is the only thing saving you from a 1-star) but it wasn't cold, as it had been sitting in the kitchen for the entire time. Fast, friendly service. Clean. The to-go boxes for the quesadillas are designed to keep the food flat, but the bags don't allow for it to stay flat (handles force the bag to turn the box vertical). We asked for the chicken on the side since the person eating the quesadilla is vegetarian and I would eat it myself, so it didn't exactly keep the chicken 'on the side.' Hello. I am from S.C. but currently live in Maryland. I always visit Tropical Smoothie Cafe and love their smoothies and food. I am currently in SC visiting family and was so excited when I saw that there was a Tropical Smoothie on Harbison Boulevard. My husband and I decided to stop by this location and spent $22.85. This was approximately 30 minutes before closing. We waited at the counter approximately 1 minutes before being acknowledged. This wasn't bad and not a big deal because when we were greeted, we were greeted pleasantly. After placing our order, I pulled out my phone to scan my barcode for points and was told by the cashier that they don't have a scanner machine. I was also told that every time they get one, it crashes. Then the cashier said that I can go online to enter my purchase but she doesn't know how to do it. So my husband and I sat down to wait on our food and smoothie. When she brought us our smoothie she said "oh, I forgot to print your receipt" so she proceeded to get the receipt and gave it to us. Then she told me she would ask someone else if they knew how to enter the purchase on-line. I heard her asking someone but could not hear the response. Then she never came back with any guidance. After getting in the car, I tasted my smoothie and it was a little more loose than I am used to getting at the Tropical Smoothie locations in MD. I could tell that it included all of the appropriate ingredients but I am used to them being a little more thick versus watery texture. I totally understand that sometime scanners or any computer equipment doesn't work or that companies run in to issues. However, the employees should be trained on how to properly handle a "work around" response. Meaning, each employees should know how to provide guidance to the customer when the scanner is not available. The food and smoothies are not cheap so most frequent visitors will want to receive credit on their account for their purchase. We were just a little disappointed with this location overall. My husband children and I are faithful customers at tropical smoothie on harbison. We both always come in and use our military discount. Today the cashier takes my order I show her my ID and she asked if I was a dependent. I reply yes!! She Then informed me that the company only honored active military not the spouses and whomever gave me discounts prior was not following owner policy. I am beyond angry because spouses of the military may not go to war but we serve and sacrifice also. I strongly encourage the owner to rethink his bias against military spouses because he will never understand what all we endure. read more
