Simply a gem. Great coffee as well as fancier drinks (I.e. the cold brew tiramisu). Plenty of space to work too.

Great space for patio working

I did a search on Yelp for coffee and patio and this spot came up! I'm so glad it did. Came here for breakfast and coffee and to get some work done while hopefully enjoying the sunshine (visiting from Wisconsin where when I left it was snowing). They don't have a full breakfast menu but do have a variety of pastries and I was happy to see they weren't all sweet but had some savory options as well. I got a rosemary cheddar scone and a honeysuckle latte to go with. The scone was outta this world. The rosemary was fully present and paired perfectly with the creamy sharpness of the cheddar--it was spot on perfect. The honeysuckle latte was beautiful as well. The espresso was rich and smooth and went well with the lightly sweet honeysuckle. The service was lovely. It's an order at the counter situation. You then wait for your order at the pick up counter and find your seat. The seating is plentiful. They have seating in the area where you order, a separate dining area in an adjacent space and a lovely shaded patio out back. Get to it!

Great coffee shop in the Cayce area. Nice indoor area with plenty of seating as well as an outdoor area with seating. Parking is adjacent to the building as well as across the street. The staff was nice and the place is pretty clean. They have a seasonal menu which is what I ordered the smoked maple bourbon latte. I believe the gentleman said the sugar was smoked in a bourbon barrel. I almost ordered the sweet potato pie latte until he said that about the bourbon barrel smoked sugar. The latte was delicious. I definitely enjoyed it. They have a menu full of their beverages in addition to their limited release menu.

piecewise is my go to coffee shop in the cayce/west columbia area they have a great fresh baked goods selection you just gotta ensure you get there early to get your hands on them i'm a HUHE fan of their chai because they have their own signature blend but i opted to get the iced caramel macchiato today as i was in need of a post run pick me up they NEVER disappoint, either with amazing food/drinks or amazing service the staff here always has a smile on their face and will even grind coffee fresh for you to take home! lastly it's always such a great atmosphere here, especially with the additional seating in the mail room

Excellent coffee! I got the honey cinnamon cardamom latte- it was perfection. I don't like sweet coffee, and this was not too much. You can tell the espresso is quality and the foam was steamed to perfection! They had been so busy that they sold out of most every pastry- bummer..but I guess we will have to go back to try a scone and almond croissant. But we did luck out on the last oatmeal cream pie and it was delicious! The cafe was nice and clean and lovely. We will find another reason to pass thru sometime!! They also sell methodical coffee.

This is a hidden place in Cayce, SC. If you blinked, you missed it. The service is chill and so is the ambiance. The prices reasonable and place well kept. Hope you enjoy as I did.

We are in love with piecewise. Their coffee is amazing. The cinnamon roll biscuit is delicious! I love the ambiance and that there's always plenty of seating, whether inside or outside. I feel so tranquil and calm each time I walk in. It's always very clean which I appreciate as well.

OMG, this place is addictive. This is hands down the best coffee we have had, besides our home brew of café bustelo. The coffee here is rich and robust and the baristas are top notch and know their way around this coffee bar. Our group had the Iced Honey Cinny Cardamom with macadamia milk, The Salted Caramel Latte Iced and Iced Coffee with fresh vanilla infused simple syrup. No detail was not well thought through, to create perfect coffee alchemy. The staff here is amazing. I can't say enough about the drinks and the atmosphere is great, simple, clean, modern and inviting. Support local & do yourself a favor and get your daily brew here. This is a treasure here in the Columbia area & we need to keep it here. Thanks Piecewise, we will be back!

I travel from Lexington for a cortada because Piecewise does it right. Chocolate chip scone was good. Just be sure to check your receipts.

What a beautiful, warm, and welcoming coffee shop in Cayce! The coffee shop sits on the corner tucked away in a local neighborhood in the Cayce Arts District! The space is simple, green, and very clean. Welcoming messages are through your, really giving a sense of belonging. Cute patio in the back for conversations with friends and families. The baristas and staff are so accommodating, friendly, and make recommendations based on what you're looking for! Wonderful selection of coffee, teas, and seasonal drinks, plus fresh baked goods (daily). Give this place a visit!

Cappuccino made with love.

Lovely little place. Super clean and uncluttered, un-fussy displays. Several specialties offered up; I chose the maple cinnamon latte with oatmilk and my husband had his usual espresso which he declared delicious. Pastry options provided by SmallSUGAR (which we enjoyed when we last passed through Columbia). We thoroughly enjoyed the recommended almond croissant warmed up- beware of all the powdered sugar. Plenty of parking and adequate outdoor seating. Also, counter help was friendly.

A great place to sit and get some work done or meet a friend to chat! I loved the atmosphere in here and the baristas were so sweet. I really enjoyed the latter I got from here:)

Great space for a quick meet up and coffee. The indoor and outdoor seating is nice. The baristas were knowledgeable about the product also.

Croissants and cookies are great too: they said small sugar in Columbia provides them fresh daily.

They were all so sweet and really went above and beyond to make sure it was a high-quality experience. I noticed that they openly advertise that they don't accept tips and have slightly higher prices in order to pay their workers a living wage, and the results were directly reflected in the customer service that I received. As for the food and drink (coffee), that was pretty good as well! While I do wish that they might have had bagels, the croissant that I substituted it for was warm, buttery, and tasty, and it was a nice change from my usual coffee shop meal, as I've only had a croissant a handful of times. The coffee was fine, and I loved how they offered free refills, which I've noticed that other local coffee shops usually don't. Finally, I loved the setting of the restaurant, which gave you the opportunity to either sit inside and enjoy the ambiance or on the outside patio and enjoy some peace and quiet. I also loved the artwork that they had on the walls, which the waitress informed me was painted by a local artist and which you could purchase if you wanted to. All-in-all, I loved smallSUGAR, will be back in the future, and would highly recommend stopping in!

Stopped by smallSUGAR and had a decent overall experience, though a few things held it back…read more The space itself was clean and well-kept, with a modern, minimalist vibe that works well for a casual brunch or coffee stop. Service was fine. Nothing particularly standout, but smooth and efficient. For drinks, the coffee was average. It wasn't bad by any means, just nothing memorable. Especially considering the price point. Food-wise, there were some highlights. The sweet potato bowl was well-dressed and flavorful, though it felt like it was missing a protein component to make it more complete. The shakshuka was very good overall, with great flavor, though it leaned a bit salty. The biggest issue was the bread portion. It simply wasn't enough for the dish. I ended up ordering an extra side, and while it's listed as two slices, it's really just one slice cut in half. At $4 for that portion, that is very unreasonable. That was a recurring theme. Pricing felt high across the board for what you receive. While the flavors were there, nothing really stood out as exceptional enough to justify the cost. Overall, not a bad visit. Just one where the value didn't quite match the experience.
