Elite coffee & equally elite vibes. When it comes to coffee shops the vibes are arguably the next most important factor when it comes to the coffee. Methodical happens to nail both. Centered in the heart of the bull street district, this spot is worth checking out.

Great location, classic menu, best banana bread I've had in a minute. Truly, get it! My flat white was a little bitter, I thought it was going to be smoother but maybe it was that roast. They have a small merch area and grab and go drinks as well. Bar seating can also be a "standing" area.

Methodical has everything I'm look for in a coffee shop - an inviting interior, spacious seating, good treats, and of course the coffee. Upon entering you place your order and, assuming you stay in to enjoy your drink, find a table where your drink will come to you. Everything was well prepared - the biscuit and apple butter was a pleasant surprise: a wonderful play of texture with crisp exterior and fluffy interior, and an apple butter that fully embraced the fall - and the Vermont latte which had a lovely amount of salt to offset the sweet maple undertones. Two drinks and the biscuit cost around $20 which felt right given the service and quality. I look forward to visiting again soon.

Methodical is HERE!!! this is one of my favorite roasters in the state and their new location is absolutely amazing. there's ample space to work from either at the bar so you can watch the baristas work their magic or upstairs with a few of the action from above. there's tons of natural light and the place is absolutely beautiful. the baristas are literally artists! the lattes were not only mixed masterfully but they were also pieces of art! this place is a 100/10 and will be my new remote work destination.

I've been here a few times since they've opened and let's just say I'm already a fan. In the great location of Bull St., District. Parking is quick and accessible in the garages. I love this coffee shop because it has a sense rustic, outdoorsy, vibes meets chic, and cozy coffee shop. The service is always immaculate even though they've always been busy at each visit. There's plenty of seating upstairs and down additional city rooms as well. Coming soon. The bakery will open up with lots of pastry options and I cannot wait. On my first visit I got a Tres Leche iced coffee and it was very very good but the one that stole my heart is the Vermont. It's a maple flavored coffee with sea salt on top it's definitely a 10 out of 10 and has been crowned my coffee of the winter!

Very cute coffee shop in Columbia near campus. I tried their seasonal latte called Vermont with nutmeg, black salt and other spices. It was like a warm hug on a cold winter night. The flavors blended so well together and was a perfect fall latte. The banana bread was the perfect accompaniment to the latte. If you're in the Columbia area you'll definitely want to try this coffee shop.

Very good coffee and the glassware really caught my eye. Lots of seating without feeling too cluttered. I stayed until close and they gave me a few biscuits for the road which were excellent! They came with a sort of blueberry compote that was great as well

Methodical is an excellent addition to Columbia! The coffee is perfectly balanced--not too sweet, not too bitter, just right. The space is roomy and comfortable, great for catching up with friends or getting some work done. The baristas will help you make a decision if you're having a hard time.

Absolutely thrilled to have methodical join the columbia coffee scene. The bull street/fireflies area is really developing into a fun community and I think the location is perfect. The workers were kind and I appreciated them helping me select coffee beans to take home. I got a pour over (not pictured) which was perfectly brewed and gave me a perfect kick of energy to make it thorough a long day at work. I've been ordering their coffee beans online for years so it's nice to have a brick and mortar location to frequent.

They were all so sweet and really went above and beyond to make sure it was a high-quality experience. I noticed that they openly advertise that they don't accept tips and have slightly higher prices in order to pay their workers a living wage, and the results were directly reflected in the customer service that I received. As for the food and drink (coffee), that was pretty good as well! While I do wish that they might have had bagels, the croissant that I substituted it for was warm, buttery, and tasty, and it was a nice change from my usual coffee shop meal, as I've only had a croissant a handful of times. The coffee was fine, and I loved how they offered free refills, which I've noticed that other local coffee shops usually don't. Finally, I loved the setting of the restaurant, which gave you the opportunity to either sit inside and enjoy the ambiance or on the outside patio and enjoy some peace and quiet. I also loved the artwork that they had on the walls, which the waitress informed me was painted by a local artist and which you could purchase if you wanted to. All-in-all, I loved smallSUGAR, will be back in the future, and would highly recommend stopping in!

Stopped by smallSUGAR and had a decent overall experience, though a few things held it back…read more The space itself was clean and well-kept, with a modern, minimalist vibe that works well for a casual brunch or coffee stop. Service was fine. Nothing particularly standout, but smooth and efficient. For drinks, the coffee was average. It wasn't bad by any means, just nothing memorable. Especially considering the price point. Food-wise, there were some highlights. The sweet potato bowl was well-dressed and flavorful, though it felt like it was missing a protein component to make it more complete. The shakshuka was very good overall, with great flavor, though it leaned a bit salty. The biggest issue was the bread portion. It simply wasn't enough for the dish. I ended up ordering an extra side, and while it's listed as two slices, it's really just one slice cut in half. At $4 for that portion, that is very unreasonable. That was a recurring theme. Pricing felt high across the board for what you receive. While the flavors were there, nothing really stood out as exceptional enough to justify the cost. Overall, not a bad visit. Just one where the value didn't quite match the experience.
