Casual, authentic, delicious, no frills Mexican that gets the job done. Great service as well and they are quite quick.

I generally avoid chain restaurants like the plague. However, my local Campos Tacos on Robertson Boulevard has an excellent quesadilla Mexicano and for Taco Tuesday at $12 my go to meal is I a very generous three tacos with Al Pastor, double rice (instead of rice and beans although their beans are good) and a glass of Tamarindo. With a side of guac and chips, I have two meals that can't be beat. The gentleman at the counter is always extremely friendly and they make everything fresh to order. The interior has booths surrounded by Mexican folk art and a television for that soccer game if one is being played. Thank you Campos. read more

Not all nostalgia makes sense. Just because the avocado burrito at Campo's was a revelation when I was a teenager, does not mean that it will make the same impression now, some 30+ years later. It's not bad, nor particularly good. And I guess I mistakenly grabbed a mild watery salsa at the salsa bar. The horchata was also watery. I was in the area because we had an appointment to go to and I had some time to waste so I figured I'd grab a bite to eat when I drove past this place, something just told me to look it up and the pictures look so yummy and when I got my food, it looked exactly like the pictures I saw on yelp and it was so freaking delicious I got three Asada tacos with rice and beans. It was phenomenal. I will return to the spot.. the restaurant itself is very clean inside. I'm not sure if they had a restroom or not. The service was great. I placed an order through GrubHub, and I've never been treated so horribly. When my meal was delivered, one of the drinks was missing. I called to report the issue--ten times--and each time the person on the line hung up on me. The man was extremely rude, and it's astonishing that after being a loyal customer for years, I was treated this way. I asked if they could bring the drink back, since I was only a few blocks away and it was late at night. What hurt even more was that I genuinely felt the treatment I received was discriminatory. I believe the way I spoke--sounding Caucasian--triggered a prejudiced reaction. Maybe, in light of everything happening under the Trump administration, he assumed I was white and refused to help me, taking out his anger on me. That kind of behavior is unacceptable. I shouldn't have to justify that my feelings are valid--but they are. No customer deserves to be treated this way. If someone doesn't want to work or interact respectfully with customers, they should not be answering phones and behaving so rudely. The order seems simple enough for a place that only sells MEXICAN FOOD. They make these tacos before you order and have them waiting for you to place an order whenever that may be. This place is going to be on kitchen nightmares soon. It's dirty and food is so inconsistent. My biggest issue with the place is they get orders wrong constantly. One time I ordered a steak burrito, then they send me a Chile Relleno burrito. Another time I order something with no cheese(can't eat dairy), then they add crema on their own even tho it isn't listed as an ingredient on the item. It is exactly what I've always wished for out of Mexican food. The food is absolutely delicious, they have big portions, and it's so affordable. The staff are so nice, this one dude is always smiling and it brings me such joy to see him so genuinely content, especially when I'm absolutely desecrated from a night of pounding shots. This is my 3rd time ordering from here because I grew up loving the Santa Monica Campos but this one is by my office. Campos holds a lot of memories for me.
