I have been dealing with Ricky Pena in terms of Camping World in New Braunfels for selling our almost new RV. Unfortunately, even though they offered the highest bid of dealers for our RV, we are so upside down with a new RV we have only owned 3 months, that we will need to explore selling it ourselves. Ricky completely impressed me with a response that offered extremely helpful advice including other online sites we might use to sell our RV. He also told me that we can cancel our extended warranty for a prorated refund. All of this helpful info was offered freely as a way to help. We got a dry hub 500 miles from our home heading back from Texas to Mims Florida Martin Luther King weekend what should've been a routine trip back to Florida turn into a 4 1/2 day nightmare leaving us with a dry hub problems with bearings and had a source own repair to limp home after spending 110,000 on a fifth wheel. read more

Salesman told me to watch YouTube videos about the systems in the RV, and did not explain how any of it works himself. During the test drive he made inappropriate comments about his mental health, and told me he is on psychiatric medication for PTSD. Which made me feel uncomfortable. Believe the negative reviews! I was helping my sister-in-law find a place that might buy or consign her travel trailer for a fair price. The online offer estimate from Camping World (Good Sam valuator) was the best, so we made an appointment for an intake inspection. I spoke to a representative from another dealer who told me exactly what would happen, but I didn't believe him. In summary, he said they would find major issues that need to be fixed and then they'll offer you less after they make the repairs. TL:DR version: that's exactly what happened. Full version: We brought it in for inspection. After two hours, they told us that there was a soft spot in the slide out floor caused by water damage and the floor would have to be replaced. The consignment specialist said it's a big job and the entire slide out would have to be removed to replace it - an $8-$10K job he thinks, but he would get an estimate from the service department. No way was my sister-in-law going to pay that much for a trailer she's never used and just wants to sell. As we're hooking it up to haul it back to Bandera County and weigh her options, the consignment specialist says it's too bad because we'd be looking at a "$22-$23K" offer if that wasn't an issue, which was almost enough to pay her note. We were just about to jump on Hwy. 46 when I get a call from the consignment specialist with "some good news" - the repair was less than he thought and would be closer to $4,500 before tax. After we pulled over and debated it, my sister-in-law decided it would be less hassle to just get the repair done right there and take the loss if we can just leave the trailer there for the repair and sell it to Camping World. (We had to arrange to borrow a relative's truck and take time off work just to move the thing, not to mention getting temporary tags at the assessor's office, so the whole thing was an ordeal and she was willing to pay for convenience of not repeating the process.) We spoke to the service department and they told us they would try to do it there, but might have to send it to the body shop and that might take longer. Before we left, the consignment specialist let us know that prices can change and they can't make an offer until the repair is done. This was Friday. On Monday I get a call from the CS letting me know they had a sales meeting and prices are going to go down, so we'll likely be looking at something closer to $21K. Not the best news, but still in the ballpark. The following day the service advisor emails to ask authorization for another ~$800 dollars in labor charges because it's supposedly more complicated than they anticipated. After authorizing the additional labor charges, the repair was done within a week. I requested a formal offer from the CS now that the repair was completed, 9 days after he suggested $23K and 7 days after he said $21K, and he said "prices are changing daily" and offered $16.5K for the trailer. I was stunned. This isn't bitcoin. There shouldn't be that kind of volatility in the price of a travel trailer. Bottom line is they never intended to pay the kind of prices they were offering unofficially. In a short amount of time, we went from an online estimate of $26k, to $23K, to $21K, to $16.5K. We were seduced by the higher offer price, which persuaded us to pay Camping World for an expensive repair. They made money on the service end of things, and if we accepted their insulting offer, we'd be losing more than $11,000 on the sale. We're just left feeling robbed/scammed and questioning the entirety of our experience with Camping World: was that repair even necessary, should it cost that much, etc? For further insult, it took a week to schedule a pickup and I finally got a reply from the service advisor after leaving a voicemail and a message with reception, reaching him by email. We scheduled the pickup and when we got there I was made to wait and extra 45 minutes after paying for the repair because they didn't pull the trailer out in anticipation of the appointment I had made days in advance, and there were other units that had to be moved to access our trailer. Wouldn't normally be a huge inconvenience, but at this point it felt like an additional poke in the eye. Bottom line: If you are considering Camping World for selling or consigning your RV, DON'T! EDIT: my sister-in-law looked inside and the trailer was left a mess. They didn't even bother to clean it up! read more

PSA - Camping World in New Braunfels Warning! If you take your RV in for service be warned that they have had multiple thefts of vehicles on their lot. We had our RV in for service and our catalytic converter was stolen. CW hides behind the fine print in the service contract. They parked our RV in a very vulnerable spot and left it unlocked. They parked our RV right up against the fence, where thieves cut the fence previously, and blocked it from the view of cameras. We were told the RV was so close to the fence that the thieves put up a ladder and went right over onto the top of RV to gain access. They did not do everything they could have done IMO to protect our vehicle. They then replaced the stolen catalytic converter and some other parts that were damaged and offered no discount for the work. They did not offer even $1 off for the theft or inconvenience. We ended up paying about $700 more for the theft repairs than we did for our original repairs. Our total was almost $5000 of which more than half was due to theft. And when we picked up our RV the other repairs we had done were not completed! read more

We are new to the world of RV'g so a visit to Camping World was a must for us. We wanted to join Good Sam bc the membership has a lot of perks. You can join AT Camping World. If you join there then you get a temporary card immediately. As you walk around Camping World you will see the regular price & the club price. The club price is 10% off or sometimes even more than 10% lower than the original price. As we were shopping numerous sales associates checked on us. They didn't hover or bother us. They just asked if we needed help & then wandered off. I always appreciated not being stalked...lol When I did have a few questions John was very helpful. He gave me great advice & was friendly. Later, we needed prices on the Blackstones. Cindy was working in that area. She immediately stopped what she was doing to help us. She was wonderful! She gave us prices on all of the grills we had questions on. (A few twice bc we forgot! I put the prices in my phones notes the 2nd time ) She was awesome & we had a great conversation w her. This store is huge & I love that they had a clearance area w items that were 25% off! Who doesn't love a sale? Raise your hand if you don't.... No. Put your hand down. Your nuts! When we went to check out Bianca helped us out w our cart full of items. She did really good keeping track of what was on clearance bc it didn't automatically ring up. (So, watch the register, you can't expect the sales associate to know every item that goes on sale so you may need to let them know). The customer service here is fantastic! Just wanted to warn everyone....don't go to the Camping World in New Braunfels, Tx. We bought our camper from Camping World 2 years ago and always believed they were a class organization, but not this one. We went in for a 22 Point Inspection and told them that our toilet was leaking and needed a new valve....our bill came to $468.35 which included $64.99 for the valve. Now I know how they pay for the FREE 22 Point Inspection!!! I sent them an email expressing my disappointment and Mike, their Service Manager called me and basically said tough luck, we charge standard rates. If this is how they treat a customer who buys a camper from them just think what they will do to someone that hasn't already spent $20,000 with them.....don't go here! read more

We sold our Class C motorhome to camping world. I liked the price we got for it, and the whole experience was good. They are very efficient, and they pretty much do what they say they will. I contacted them via the internet, and they had a very short list of questions about the RV. Based on this, they gave us a very nice price but we needed to bring the RV in for their inspection. I called and talked to Michael Frits, and discussed the condition of the vehicle. My experience is that getting all the problems out avoids surprises. He gave me a more realistic estimate of price, and I agreed to bring it in. Based on their inspection, we got a slightly lower price, which we agreed to. The one hiccup was that they were 2 days late in getting the check out to us via Fedex. That I can live with. I believe that they are well run, and have a better than average understanding of the RV market. Because of this, they can outbid other dealers, both buying and selling. read more

UPDATE AFTER INITIAL REVIEW --The day after posting the review below, I received a response from Camping World Corporate asking for my contact information, so they could look into it. I responded with copies of all previous correspondence and the following morning I received a call from the local service manager informing me that they were refunding the amount overcharged. I want to acknowledge that Camping World finally did the right thing and I'm changing my review to 3 stars based on the action taken. After a month of waiting for Camping World to respond, I find it necessary to warn all potential customers needing service on their RV to BEWARE of unscrupulous and deceiving business practices! I needed a bearing pack and called around to get the best price and Camping World beat the competition by $30. When I arrived, the service advisor said the price was $369. I noticed a sign by the register advertising a 25% discount, called it to her attention and she reduced the price. Later, I was told that after removing the wheels, they discovered I needed new brake drums and backing plates and the price would be over $2,600! After saying I would take it somewhere else, she said they could not let me take it because it was dangerous. After looking at the detailed invoice, she agreed the original charge for bearing pack should be removed since they were replacing everything and agreed to give me a 10% Good Sam discount. I reluctantly agreed to a final quote of $1,867 plus tax and authorized the work based on the quote. When I returned the following day to pick up the RV, my service advisor was absent and the person checking me out said I owed over $2,600. I protested that the quote I authorized was $1,867 plus tax and noticed they had charged the full price of a bearing pack in addition to replacing all hubs and backing plates. She and her supervisor insisted I owed for the additional bearing pack charge of $369. Again, I called their attention to the sign advertising the 25% discount and they pretended to know nothing about it. They reduced it and gave me a $76 discount, leaving a balance of $2,383.56 which was $400 more than quoted. I called competitors and learned they charge a little over $600 for labor on this job, but Camping World charged me $1,106! I called the following day to talk to the service advisor that had given me the quote and she apologized, saying they should not have charged the additional charge for a bearing pack, that she would honor the original quote and make a credit adjustment. After several days of not seeing a refund, I have repeatedly tried to call the service advisor, the service manager, sent multiple emails and even emailed the Camping World CEO, but NO ONE has had the decency to respond. Once they get your money, this is the kind of customer service you can expect from Camping World. Beware of their scam to offer a slightly lower price for regular maintenance to get customers in the door, take them hostage and commit highway robbery. read more

Took my trailer in for a warranty leak. They told me that there was a screw in the roof and it was under warranty. Then a Hailstorm came through in while it was at their lot to be repaired. They then told me I had to claim it on my insurance because of Hail damage. This was after they told me they found a screw in the roof. I ended up having to claim it on my insurance and paying for the new roof. They were supposed to fix the AC so it would blow into the bedroom and it still doesn't. Terry MCNEELY read more

Unless you want to buy an RV, they won't talk with you. We were looking for a couple of small items and they stared at us because we were wearing a mask. Nobody even wanted to assist us. So we didn't buy a foldable bike and we didn't buy a cassette toilet and we didn't buy a couple of items that would have been worth a couple of thousand backs. We are taking our business somewhere else. If we want to buy an RV, this will be the last place we will be going to. I wish we can do a neg star review, this place is the absolute worst place to shop for, please save your time, money and you'll save yourself lots of headaches. We purchased paint protection, got charged and they never even did it! If we didn't ask about the proof they would've kept our money and not said anything. We purchased all the warranties and were told we can easily get our money back if needed, well it's been months and they still haven't done anything. My wife took our RV to Camping World to have auto leveling system repaired. The initial stated it needed a new switch. The quote to repair was approximately $400 for the switch. After ordering and replacing the switch, the system still didn't work. They said that it now needs a new sensor. After ordering and replacing sensor, once again the system failed to work. Now, they indicated need to replace circuit board. When asked if new circuit board would definitely fix the problem, they couldn't guarantee it. Amazingly, what was originally quoted as a $400 repair has now grown to $2,700 (Parts and Labor) and still auto leveling doesn't work. We decided enough is enough and will just stick with manual. To our surprised, in process of installing the new parts (parts apparently never needed) they damaged the manual leveling. Some how they managed to totally burned up motor. They had the nerve to tell us it would cost additionally $3,800 to replace motor and several other items they managed to destroy. Needless to say neither the auto or manual leveling works now. Our RV left the service center in worse condition than when we dropped it off. PLEASE, DON'T TAKE YOUR RV TO CAMPING WORLD! read more

Bought a used 2019 Primetime Tracer from camping world in early March right before Covid put us all on lockdown. First the buying experience was horrible, and since the purchase we've had to replace the a/c and fix shattered drain pipes under the shower. My distrust in Camping World is extremely high. So the buying experience. We'd been looking for months and finally found the right floodplain at the right price. It was one year old but we thought a used camper from a dealer is probably a non-issue. Our salesman Matt was completely disinterested and only got our sale because that was the camper we wanted. Should have taken it as an omen and just walked out. We got there in the morning at 10am, decided to buy it by 11 and didn't leave until the doors closed that Saturday. It would have been fine if they'd have told us to just come back but they didn't. We were hanging out at the dealer all day. They kept pushing us to sign the finance papers before the final walkthrough (after they clean it up). But we refused noting it is used and wanted them to show us everything worked. Another omen that should have sent us out the door. But we waited. In the walk through they confirmed everything was in working order. We noticed the a/c not cooling very well and they assured us it just hadn't been on long enough. They said, Trust them it has been inspected and everything is good. Again we'd waited all day and thought we could trust them. Ok great. Then the guy setting up the hitch to the truck was awful. I get it, it was now the absolute end of his day and he just wanted to leave. But It is a new hitch setup from our last camper so I had some questions. But he wasn't having it. Shut me down on every question. The new setup though looked wrong to me. Although I was now frustrated too after waiting all day, so I stopped asking questions. We leave but I feel uncomfortable with the setup. Pull over at the gas station right outside Camping World to unhook and rehook up the camper. Tried to open the slide but it had no power.. What? Hooked up and went right back after they had just closed. Service manager said the battery was dead, just needed a charge. I should do it when I get home. My response was, no you charge it and give me a new battery. It took me complaining to the the general manager for them to give me a new battery. Then the real problems start. Ran the a/c a few times at home (parked on a pad in our backyard) and still we couldn't get it to cool. Thought ok this is a larger camper than our last one and it's prewired for a second a/c, lets just bite the bullet and add one. So we did. Had a mobile RV service come out and put the second a/c in. However then we noticed that second a/c could cool the whole camper all on its own. Then what's wrong with the main a/c? So had the mobile repair guy come out again to confirm the main a/c had no coolant. There was a hole in the system and it all leaked out. The only option was replacement. Complaints and calls to camping world then ensued. The camper being a year old with a second owner had no warranty. I get it , but camping world had assured us everything was working. After many emails and calls, the end result was the service manager standing his ground noting everything was working on delivery. So we bite the bullet and had the mobile RV service install a second brand new a/c out of our pocket. Mind you, this is all within two months of purchase and we haven't gone camping yet. Ok now here's the kicker! First trip after our state "re-opens" given the Covid situation. While my wife is in the shower my daughter comes running in from outside to say the whole back of the camper has running water all over the sidewalk. Ran outside to see the water running like a waterfall out the back of the camper. With some investigating we identified that the drain under the shower was shattered in three places. I'm convinced it was broken when we got it. I've since fixed this on my own and replaced all the parts. It now makes sense why someone trades in a one year old camper. Broken a/c and shower. If camping world didn't know when it was traded in, they sure didn't do the complete inspection they sold us on. I understand it's a used camper but these were easy items they should have known about. Instead we're stuck with the extra costs and no help from camping world. I would never buy from them again, take my camper there for a repairs, buy anything in their store, or stop sharing this awful experience. Buyer beware !! read more
