While "wintering" in our RV in the desert Southwest we encountered a couple of problems with our rig. The charging system with the generator gave up and more concerning our furnace quit working. Since it was late in the season we decided to bring the rig back and have the work done closer to home. Since Gander RV took over from Camper World we decided to give them a try. We had decided to not let our poor experiences with Camper World carry over to Gander. What a great decision that turned out to be!! Gary was our contact and boy did he do a great job. He stayed in close contact and kept us in the loop during each "diagnosis " to discuss options. The two problems were fixed up and during the processes we even added a couple more things to the wish list which were promptly taken care of. All was done on time and for the prices quoted! We recently purchased a 2027 ENTEGRA Odyssey Esteem Edition 29V. When purchased we stated that we would pick it up the following week so that they would have plenty of time to prep and fix any problems Upon delivery we were given a walk through of our unit by a tech. When we asked some questions about the prep, he answered that he didn't know because he wasn't the person who prepp the unit. That should have been my first clue. I asked him to start the generator, but he couldn't because there was less than a1/4 tank of gas. This is the same amount as when we test drove the unit. Again, they had a week to fill the gas tank. The tech then called our salesman to get the unit filled with gas. Our salesman Bentley had to find someone with a credit card so that he could fuel up. We were waiting for over an hour for this to happen. When given keys for the unit, we were given two keychains but only one ignition key, 2 keys for storage units and one key for outside shower door. When I asked for the other ignition key and storage key I was told that it what is given by Entegta. I thought that very strange. Since delivery I have contacted online customer support from ENTEGRA and they referred me to an ENTEGRA dealer, I called that dealer and was told I should have received 2 of each key as well as 2 fobs/ remotes to enter the cab. I also contacted my local Ford dealer and the service manager confirmed that Ford provides 2 ignition keys and 2 remotes for the cab.I have also confirmed this on various Entegra forums. I called my salesman and told him this and told me he would check, I also told him that I was missing various owner manuals for the unit. He did send me online manuals. I've heard nothing about the keys. I've called numerous times this week but have not been able to speak to my salesman or a manager, everyone seems to be busy. I've left messages to call me back but haven't had any response. We also tried the generator when we got home, it only ran for 5 minutes, then cuts off. I called the ENTEGRA dealer that I was referred to by ENTEGRA and they gave me the phone number of Cummins Sales and Service because Cummins needs to do the warranty work. It is in the shop now. So I'm sure that nobody from Camping World checked the generator during prep. I wonder what else hasn't been checked. I have only had the unit 12 days as I'm writing this. Terrible after purchase care from Service Department!!!! We bought a 2025 Keystone Cougar in June 2025 from Camping World Madison, located in Deforest - over an hour away from our home. After one season of camping it needed a long list of warranty work. We dropped it off Oct 2025. No updates, no call backs, nothing from them! Finally got it back in MARCH 2026 after FIVE months, and we're still dealing with service over a lock on the docking station that was replaced but they didn't give us keys to open the door!! We had to break in to open it. It's now mid-May and still waiting for a replacement lock, hopefully with a key!!! MANY calls to service, promised "someone will call you back". In what century!?!?! Nothing! Thank God for duct tape! Buyer beware!!!!!!! Wish you had zero stars. read more

Sales manager responded with is corporate prices and just wants you to finance for there cut backed after we made an offer and they didn't like it we walked out. Camper Buyers Beware! This store has the worst customer service that I have ever experienced. I would not recommend this store to my worst enemy. I wish I could rate this company 0 stars or less. The sales process was good... our sales representative did a good job but once we scheduled our camper pick-up, it all went downhill from there... to the point where we refuse to work with the finance team at this store. They have repeatedly lied to us for months and months. When we purchased our 2022 brand new camper on June 29, 2023, we thought we were getting a good deal. When we arrived at the store to sign the papers, it turned out to be our worst nightmare and a huge regret. The service area gave a great overview of the camper... this took an hour. Then we were personally chauffeured to the store where our personal shopper showed us every possible item we could possibly EVER need to purchase... this took a while and cost us over $600. This is our regret #1. Then we were taken to the customer service area to sign our papers. They weren't ready and they had us confused with someone else. We waited. They then asked if we had our insurance secured. We didn't since we were picking up the camper in a couple of days. We called our insurance rep and secured insurance. We waited some more. Finally, we were taken to an office to sign our paperwork. We had to sit through personal stories from the finance guy and watch a video on the Good Sam membership. By this time, we were more than irritated because we were already at the store for more than 3 hours and they clearly were not ready for us after they rescheduled our appointment to this specific time. We eventually signed the paperwork and left after more than 4 hours after our initial appointment. We then had to go back the next day because they missed a signature. When we arrived, they didn't even know who we were and we had to explain why we were there. Seriously. It is now the 4th of July weekend and we picked up and stored our brand new camper. On July 5th, I was reviewing our paperwork and was shocked to learn that we signed paperwork for about $10,000 more than what we agreed to. Now, this is on us as we signed the paperwork but there was little to no explanation on all of these different warranty and service charges. Our good deal of a camper turned into a financial nightmare. Upon reviewing the paperwork, I called the store and talked to the Finance Manager, Jeremy Martin. He tried to explain the reasons for the additional charges. I was livid. He told me at that time (7/5/23) that he would at least refund the service warranty (= $5,683). He explained the environmental protection (= $3,995) is non-refundable since it was an application. To this day, I don't know if this application was ever done. We should have returned the camper that day. Regret #2. Jeremy told me he would call me with more details. We didn't receive a call. I called again. Still not return call. We then drove to the store on July 16th to inquire and we sat down with Jeremy for an hour. After 30 minutes of personal conversation (which wasn't needed or appreciated), he told us he would take care of the refund, but it would take 6-8 weeks to process. We waited. Called a few more times in August and never received a call back. Nor a refund. We went back to the store on September 5th. Jeremy wasn't there but we talked to another gentleman, and he gave us a cancellation notice request. We had this form in our file at home. Again, we were told it would take 6-8 weeks. Now it's October and we're headed to Florida for three months with our camper. On October 20th, I called Jeremy again. He didn't have the form. And told me there wasn't an "Adam" in his office - which was the name of the representative on the form. Nothing has been done. I had to take a picture of the form and send to him. We've been waiting on this refund for more than 3 months now and told it was in process during this entire time. But nothing has been done. We then filed a complaint with the corporate office. Again, delayed calls and lots of time to hear back from this company. In the meantime, we were experiencing service issues with the camper - brand new, by the way. Leaks in the shower, bathroom faucet wouldn't shut off entire, water behind the toilet, the door won't lock on the outside and the microwave wouldn't work for more than 5 secs at a time. At the beginning of November, our hot water heater stopped working. This was the last straw. We sold the camper back to them in November. We finally received our refund on 12/26/23. They lie to and ignore their customers once you pick up your camper. Their business practices are questionable to say the least. I also emailed the CEO - with his tag line of "If you're not happy, I'm not happy". Never received a reply. Regret #3 - buying from CW. read more

The store was a little short of some things but who isn't this year? Plenty of workers at the store to help you and I'd like to make a shout out for Aaron who was especially helpful. Recently, visited the Kenosha store and showed interest in a class B RV, made a discounted offer on a unit and they said they wanted to run my credit to see if I was able to qualify for financing. Explained to them that wouldn't be an issue, my score came back nearly perfect (i.e., well in the 800s for all three bureaus). They then said that we were miles apart on the price (i.e., they could only discount it a few thousand/less than 2%). and then showed me what the financing would be per month, I asked them at what term (amount, length and interest rate) and they couldn't answer but said it was the average based on the algorithm of last 30 people to qualify for financing. What kind of lending practice is that? Why run my credit if we weren't close to agreement. read more

We Called the dealership immediately to report it. They had us bring it in. They gave us false hope that we will be getting their motorhome repaired and returned to us immediately. We bought a new Camper in 2019 from here and it was a good experience. Now in 2022 we attempted to buy a camper and it has been the worst experience ever. The Culture has changed. We were very close to signing on the dotted line. Then one lie and cover up after another and the spending sale began to tumble on pickup day. Delivery dates were missed, items to be fixed undone, trailer not clean. Honesty and customer service are important to us. After the sale began to fall apart, they did not even, consider offering to see if they could get us into another similar camper. They were too focused on pushing a shopping cart on us and a store tour. The initial sale your lady was awesome, but the second general manager on pickup day was horrible and uneducated about his store and staff. Lack of communication was real apparent between staff. This is now the Walmart of RVs ( that's not a compliment). From a reasonable customer " You can do better and must do better if you are going to be around. You represent the larger company, and words gets around. Very sad and disappointed. We will see if we get our deposit back. I wish you better success and care of your customers. read more

I inquired about an RV and some telemarketing person told me to go there on a Sunday, I arrived after an almost two hour drive to find out they couldn't show, sell, or even discuss a motorhome on Sunday (9/1/19). I called the salesperson on Monday and put $1000 down but couldn't complete the deal until the end of the week due to cataract surgery and since I had not seen the inside I was going to bring an inspector with me when he was available. Their credit mgr had a loan with stipulations that seemed high to me so I sought financing on my own and cut almost 2 points and was at my credit union when the sales manager called me and said he sold the unit, I told him we had a deal and he should honor it I was at my credit union finishing the paperwork and he said he would honor it He changed his mind about two hours later and said he was refunding my money, that actually took three days for him to turn in. I will never visit another camping world or gander mountain as long as I live. Brad is the sales manager and actually hung up on me twice. I did nothing wrong here but he screwed me over to sell to someone else. I called corporate and heard from his boss Mitch who by now couldn't reverse what Brad had done he did tell me they issued me a credit three days after the sale was canceled. We purchased our camper this month, July 2019, from camping world and it was honestly a sh*t show from start to finish. The phrase hurry up and wait doesn't even begin to describe the process. We paid retail price for our camper and still were there for 5 hours because of lack of organization and their ridiculous inspection/detailing protocol... why not safety inspect and detail the camper when it comes in?!? Regardless, after 5 hours, they found a problem and needed to keep the camper for another few days...fine. When we went to retrieve the camper once fixed, there was no direction about who to talk to, where to go, where the camper keys were...nothing. We ended up being sent out to the lot by ourselves, threw our camper on our vehicle and left... what was stopping anyone else from throwing our camper on their vehicle and driving away?! Giving this business a one star rating is being EXTREMELY GENEROUS! We had electrical issues while vacationing in Wyoming and found a RV service company to do a temporary fix. We took our RV to Gander RV & Outdoors of Madison so that a "professional" could do the repairs. This was one of the WORST experiences my husband and I have ever had for the following reasons: 1. Customer service was HORRIBLE both in person and on the phone. Long wait times on the phone and standing for long periods of time in the store without being acknowledged. There was no follow-through on their end - we always had to make the contact. The individual in the parts department was very rude and condescending, to both customers and co-workers. He was confrontational and easily lied to make his story seem plausible. Several employees stated that they have received numerous complaints about this individual. 2. They attempted to charge for repairs to the RV that they caused. Our first visit we took a working RV in and brought a broken RV home. The second visit was to repair the damage they caused. 3. We were charged for PPE equipment (masks and disinfectants) when NOBODY was wearing a mask or disinfecting. The manager saw the "porter" exit the RV without PPE and without disinfecting. He also saw the service tech enter the RV without PPE and without disinfecting. 4. We were charged for "supplies" - cardboard, paper towels, etc. However, there was dirt and scuff marks inside the RV. The manager admitted that no protective measures were used and they should have been. 5. My husband questioned the quality of the work as the service panel wouldn't open and close correctly. The service tech admitted that he "rushed" it because it was hot that day and "sweat was rolling of his face". He was polite and did fix the issue as best as he could. 6. We were charged for parts that they didn't use. They were supposed to replace the breakers. When we asked to see the work before paying my husband noticed that the installed breakers were original to the RV. The ones that were ordered were sitting in a tub on the couch. My husband had taken a picture of the electrical panel. He showed it to the manager and asked why we were being charged for parts that were not used. It was amazing how quickly people started to listen to us when we showed them proof of thier dishonesty!! Overall, the experience was horrible! The manager was polite, respectful and listened to our concerns and ended up removing the PPE charge, the supplies charge, the labor charge and the parts charges (especially after seeing that some of the parts were not even used). However, this took 4 hours and two separate trips (our drive time was 3 hours each trip). I WOULD NOT recommend Gander RV and Outdoors for service. They are rude, dishonest and untrustworthy. read more

Be careful when you buy your camper there. When we bought ours they told us the first winterization was free. When we took it in they were more concerned with the warranty work because that comes out of the manufacturer's pocket. We even provided the antifreeze. When we got it back we found out that the service department was using it as their own personal restroom. There was urine all over the toilet and the black water tank had stuff in it. So we took it out camping last weekend to find all this out as well as water lines broke in the bathroom sink and the shower head was split, the canister for the filter was split and leaking, so we were unable to take a shower in our brand new camper. We called them right away and told them the issue. Now they can't fix it for at least another week. So here we are sitting here without our camper and now it is camping season. So here's the long short of it, checked out a Mallard and put a deposit on it with app for financing in store hands. No call back for roughly a week and when someone did finally get back with me I was told I only qualified for high rates due to my credit score. After asking "sales manager" to check on one last very important detail on finance I well, never heard back again for another week. Well I liked the camper so much I ended up inquiring on the unit at a different Camping World location and was told from what they saw Madison never even ran credit on me! I'm pretty sure for some reason or another they just decided at some point they would rather not sell me a new camper! So anyway turns out my credit is actually very good and I am taking delivery of the new unit shortly. I wanted to sell my used motor home and took her to Gander Rv of Madison. I felt that I was offered a fair price, either to sell out right or to sell on consignment. I chose consignment. BIG MISTAKE! My RV had some surface scratches, after all, she had been boondocking! The offer price was adjusted accordingly. Still happy. Communicating with them was like pulling hen's teeth. I would leave messages with the salesperson that I originally dealt with that went unanswered. I left voicemails that went unanswered. I just want to know what is happening with my RV. Why isn't she for sale yet? They determined that one of the scratches was structural damage and that I needed to get an estimate to fix it. I asked Gander RV to take care of it. OK. They could do that. There was a local body shop that they worked with. More unanswered calls and texts. The sales person blamed the lack of response on the service department. I finally told them that I would pick it up and gave the day and time. Arrived to pick it up and the sales department couldn't find the second set of keys, nor all of the owner's manuals that I had left with it. 20 minutes later, I was leaving. I did a "walkaround" like I always do and found the electric step to the coach in the 'locked out' position, just as I had left it six weeks prior. Gander RV had supposedly taken my motor home to their service department for an evaluation, and she was NOT parked where I had left her. The step could have suffered major damage by being left in the 'out' position when driving, but luckily was not. I will never go back there, not even to buy RV toilet paper! read more

I'm unsure why it is called Camping World when all they really have is mobile homes, camper trailers and equipment designed for such. Their website advertised that they had pop-up tent trailers and camping equipment. They did not really have either. But if you need a satellite receiver and a memory foam king size bed topper for your 'camping' experience, they have that sort of thing. The sales associates ignored me completely, and chose instead to speak exclusively to the man I had with me, even when I tried to talk to their floor staff about their selection while they took him out to see their 1 pop up tent trailer. (Which was so far away from their store that they had to drive him to it.) I stayed behind to look for camping gear, and came up disappointed and un-helped there, so we went to nearby Gander Mt. for that afterwards. Eventually when the men folk returned from a disappointing viewing of their 1 relevant item, he decided to leave his information with the sales rep in case they had something suiting our needs come along. They asked him for a copy of his drivers license, which he said he would do but on the condition that he be allowed to see them make 1 copy only and block out his license number. So, they took him to an office room to do this. Once they brought him in, a different sales guy was sitting at the desk and turned to him and said "Sir, can I ask you to please leave." Of course the answer was no, not until I have my license back. He was quite rude about wanting him to leave him alone in the office with his sensitive documents. Eventually he backed down until the license was copied and returned. Overall unpleasant experience, yielding no results, and making us feel uncomfortable with the idea of making a large purchase with them. Maybe they would have treated us with more respect if we had been looking to buy a $40,000 mobile home instead of a basic, more rustic pop up trailer in the range of 'only a few thousand dollars.' read more

Buyer Beware...we purchased a new camper only to find that they added $9100.00 to our loan for extras....when I called and was upset, Dave said, " I cannot believe I was pulled away for a call like this." Way to go Dave! The cost of extras was never explained to us...we were charged $1995.00 for someone to spray a can of stuff on our camper...it only took him 10 minutes. We have always kept our campers indoors...this make no sense to me. I will never go back...be careful...read everything...if you get Travis as the financial guy...run!! We bought a 2017 Winnebago Navion 24J from a dealer in Georgia, and had to have warranty work done on our awning. We spent 3 months trying to get the awning delivered to DeForest, so that it could be installed. The day we came for the appointment we were lucky to get Derrick (service advisor) to help us. He was incredibly helpful and even helped us get the discarded awning into our motorhome, which was quite a feat. He was polite, knowledgeable, and very helpful. Another wonderful employee there was the service manager, Meaghan. She helped me finally determine that Camping World actually had our awning at their store. I wouldn't even give it one star if I could. I will never go back to Gander RV again. They completely screwed me over, selling me a used pop-up camper with a busted water line and a propane regulator valve that didn't work. The least they could have done is disclosed the issues but they SAID they did a full inspection and everything is fine. Also, we toured it, noticed a loose part, they said they would fix it before we took it home. When they tried to 'fix' it they put a 4" hole in the screen right by the door. First they said they would replace it. Then they said they would only patch it. I wrongly assumed that it would look professionally done, better than I could fix it myself. Instead it's just a clear adhesive patch that is an absolute eyesore. We bought the camper in February and because of the patch, we couldn't pick it up until May. There communication and customer service is Atrocious. Disgusted, angry, and I will never go to another Gander in my life. read more

Traded in our Forest River R-Pod 179 / 20-footer for a new 2018 Heartland Mallard M26 / 32-footer at a Camping World in Byron, GA! However, they completely mis-wired the Battery Disconnect Switch in Georgia, and once home to my guys at Camping World Madison, I got a complete "REWIRE" and "RECHARGE" from my brothers within hours. Bought a new 2019 Mallard M-25 from Camping World, camped in it one night and the shower leaked, the stabilizer jack aft drivers side collapsed when lowered, and the sewer dump valve handle is missing. Two of these items I asked about before I purchased and they failed to check and install both. I brought it in for warranty repair and two weeks later I am going to pick it up with repairs not complete and arguing over who is going to cover the warranty repairs, even with a 6 year extended warranty plan. if you value your customers you fix it, make it right and argue with the manufacturer on your own time. Worst customer service experience ever. when I bought my motor, I specifically asked if the generator worked great and I was assured it did. it's been nothing but a hassle since I bought it. I've had the motor home in three times for generator repairs and it needs to go back again. The very first time I used it, it kept staling out. My first mistake was trusting the salesman, Calvin. My second mistake was trusting the store manager when they said they would make it right. I have gone to the camping world web site to set up a time for warranty work. No response. I left a message for someone to call me back to schedule and no response. There is no way I will get warranty work at camping world. I haven't even stepped foot on to the parking lot and they are underperforming. If you can find ANY other place for your service, go there! Not only do they have very poor customer service, but they ridiculously overcharge for their services. For example, they charged us $107.49 to put our battery into a new box which was $24.99 of that cost. That is all they did. They also charged us $99.19 for a plastic screen for our door (cost 16.69) that does not fit properly. They charged $82.50 to diagnose and advise to do it. I told them to do it. They did not diagnose and advise anything. It would take less than 3 seconds to put it in. I know because it falls out all the time and I have to place it back in. At one point we were told by the service representative that we could pick up our travel trailer and not return it to finish installing our solar panel which we had contracted for them to do because he misunderstood a conversation he had with us. I then had to call the office of the CEO to get this issue resolved. The CEO's office also told me they thought this whole process was poorly managed. It is a very poorly run center, extremely overpriced and very poor customer service. Do yourself a favor and save the stress in your life, find any other place to get your service. read more

Don't go here for service. Poor communication. They dont fix it. They overcharge and their customer service is poor at best. I have brought my RV there 3 times for various fixes and nothing but a nightmare every time. Bad. Really bad. read more
