We've bought 3 campers from Camping World. Camping world (CW) is a bigger box store so there are good & bad things to note. Their camper prices are extremely competitive (sometimes). Although the trade in offer was pretty low and I was only able to negotiate $500 extra. I will privately sell my campers in the future. It's best to do your own work/fixes on the smaller items. In a pinch or for bigger items like; slide outs, Fridges and AC's I hear CW Service is adequate. CW allegedly charges an hourly rate above $150 dollars an hour for service charges not covered under a warranty or service plan (per what the sales team told us based on what it cost to fix our new to us camper prior to purchase) Admittedly, C-19 & economic supply chain issues have caused significant disruptions in obtaining parts. CW accessories are often priced significantly higher than Amazon even with an elite membership so check those prices! CW Cedar Falls pre-delivery inspections are hit or miss & unless you do your own work & are mechanically inclined, I recommend taking a mechanic with you to do the inspection (new units often have just as many problems or more off the manufacturer lot as the used ones do). Unfortunately buying a camper is different than buying a car. Furthermore, things will break because when you pull a trailer it's like going through a hurricane & an earthquake at the same time. Our latest purchase was a 2021 Rockwood 5th wheel from Camping World & our experience was extremely disappointing. CW had our walkthrough scheduled at 9 am, somehow it was moved to 10 AM without us being notified. We inspected the camper & found a handful of minor issues & 1 major issue which was the super slide was not functional (hanging up on the inside wall frame). It took 4 CW techs (1 master & 3 certified in various camping mechanisms) 4 + hours to fix the super slide-out. We tested it thoroughly & are happy with how it's working now. Essentially, what should have been a 2 hour ordeal turned into an all day event due to failed processes & procedures. I did buy a used unit so I also bought the extended limited major mechanical insurance/service plan but only after I verified the deductible & that multiple other RV shops and mobile services cover my items. Furthermore, when we stopped on our way home the newly installed D ring on the slide out had migrated 5 inches towards the back of the bumper most likely because the clear silicone wasn't allowed to cure adequately. Luckily, it didn't rain & this was an easy fix. We felt the Sales manager Rob was disrespectful & unkind. We asked not to work with him after some snide comments (subjective & our emotion based opinion). Our salesman Patrick & the service department tech(s) & manager Eric (unsure of the dept.) were great. Shane in finance was fun to work with! We made sure corporate & local management knew about our recent experience. Local leadership gave us a $200 gift card for CW accessories which was a nice gesture but the aforementioned experience left a bad taste in our mouth. I feel like an informed buyer can get a good financial deal on a new and some used camper(s) at CW but you have to know how to safely navigate the process. Do your homework, all campers have issues off the manufacturers line. Pre delivery inspection processes are bound to miss things but it is really like going to the casino and pulling a one armed bandit. Also, some other camper retailers have a campground on site where you actually stay for a weekend and learn how to safely use your new rig (great for newbies). In closing I wouldn't let my friends or family buy from CW unless myself or a mechanic was there to assist inspecting said rig.... & we will probably never return. Good Luck! It's a big commitment but the memories made will last a lifetime. Lastly, if you see a 2017 Mallard M26 Vin # 5SFNB322XHE337836 they gave me a low trade in value & claimed it need $1K of work per Rob the Sales Manager. In my personal opinion I wouldn't pay much more than $16K for said unit even though it was well cared for. read more

We tried dealing with Camping World (Cedar Falls) They gave us an offer on our rig that we were trading in for smaller unit. We told the prior of some of the items plus pictures of some if the items that needed attention. The day we went to trade, they did there elevation and came back to us wanting to charge us gor items that needed repaired. Ws the same ones we told them about. Went in on may 24, 2023 to trade in our 2022 cardinal fifth wheel for a Forest River Sabre. We had already made arrangements with Mike from sales to make the transition as fast as possible as we were on a time limit. Andrew from finance is relatively new to this position, but he did a fantastic job getting our paperwork done immediately. And Nick from service was so very helpful and accommodating. We highly recommend this location at of all the camping world locations we have been to this is Ny far been the nicest and best experience have had. 5 stars for sure. When we first purchased our camper we were treated very well. Now after going on our 3rd year we have completely changed our mind. They have the worst customer service in their maintenance dept. We have been lied to and frankly swindled into a bunch of money spent because supposedly "it was included in our extended warranty". We had the roof of our camper resurfaced as advised only to have them tell 3 month later that our roof needed redone. Several items we brought to their attention were not fixed. I would not recommend anyone but a camper at Camping World on Cedar Falls. read more

I had a medical issue this week that caused me to not be able to hook up my trailer and deliver it for winter service. I explained the issue to Austin and he actually came picked up my trailer and delivered it back to me when I was at a pretty desperate moment. It's hard to describe just how bad this place is - or how much has gone wrong The make promises, sells warranties, and then do not honor the warranty. I They charge close to $1000 for a pre-purchase inspection- but don't really do one. How else could they not notice they panels were not attached, or no one bothered to clean up tons of putty oversmear and items are working - or simply an thick layer of dust/debris on counters. Lemon is the only word to describe the new camper I got. Before I even used it once , - after I had to take it back due to defects in panels and they gave me the wrong keys, - when I received it back - without the panels fixed - I opened the door to the bathroom to find the vanity laying on the bathroom door - fallen and smashed a hole into the back of the bathroom door. Broke the shower track, damaged the vanity and other issues. -- that was approaching two months ago. -- it still is not fixed!! I have a lost of items, including those that I pointed out before accepting the vehicle, and they are still not fixed - despite the bumper to bumper warranty I'm supposed to have and the other warranties they sold me to compliment that one. Did I mentioned I've spent over 12 hours in a car cumulatively spring back and forth to the dealership to try and resolve this and a huge gas expenditure. Have they sone anything to compensate me - no! Then to simply this I asked them to text off this lemon - they had the audacity to offer me almost 30% less than I paid just 2-3 months ago!!! Seriously!!!! Who are these people? In short- never buy from any camping world anywhere!!! Period!!! With all the hidden fees, lack of warranty compliance, and simply the worst experience of my life - stay away. Stay away, stay away, stay away! Buying an older RV from Camping World, you are their best buddy. Couldn't be more friendly, helpful and trying to get you financed. Went to pick it up, had to wait wasn't done being detailed. Had a walk through, so much to process as we walked around our Motor Home. Was told one curtain was stained, from possibly a water leak, was checked and fixed according to staff. More than one curtain stained and one curtain needed mending. But was not told about the toilet, not functioning properly, called for help, whoever was called was not happy for the phone call, impatiently said he was going to transfer the call to someone else. Which he did, not our Buddy anymore. We ended up trying to fix the issue ourselves. The fix was temporary because a part was needed and it had to be ordered. Next problem was having to dump the black tank every two days. Still not sure why it is happening. After the first call we felt why call again? To be fair we were out of state when calling for help. Some suggestions were made, tried them concerning the toilet. Took it all apart, had to buy more parts to fix the issue. Yes it was an older model motor home, but if you want sell it, get top dollar for it, make sure everything works, if not be honest. Lastly, bought the motor home at the end of the month, about 3 weeks later tried to get license, no go. Problem was on Camping World's part, it was taken care of right away. Still their Buddy in that department. Problems discussed goes to show selling is more important than the after sale reputation. Not going to buy, have them look or fix anything. I will no longer do business with Camping World in Cedar Falls, after 32 years as a Camping World customer.  We purchased a new rear bedroom 5th wheel from Camping World Cedar Falls in August 2017.  We asked our salesperson if the single 12.5k BTU rooftop A/C would be adequate without a 2nd rear bedroom A/C unit.  He assured us it would be fine as-sold.  Thankfully, we also purchased the extended warranty for the unit although we usually don't buy these warranties. July 23 - Aug. 20, 2018: in for A/C service (not working in "auto" mode and compressor cycling frequently); no problem found, but CW replaced the thermostat.  CW installed a rear bedroom A/C unit at CW's strong recommendation at our cost.  Front A/C compressor was still cycling frequently, so CW replaced the front thermostat a 2nd time. June 21 - July 26, 2019: Front A/C stopped working. CW said the cause was compressor failure.  A rainwater leak was caused by improper rear bedroom rooftop A/C installation.  CW replaced the rear ceiling panel, A/C seal, and installed a new and larger A/C unit in front.   July 21 - Aug. 18, 2022: Front A/C stopped working again.  CW replaced the top unit, thermostat, and controller with identical parts. Sept. 26 - Oct. 24, 2023: Front A/C stopped working a 3rd time due to compressor leak.  Only contacted by CW once to ask whether there was supposed to be a heat pump in the front unit.  I responded not as far as I knew.  CW replaced the failed unit with a correct single-mode.   In conclusion, it took CW many years of mid-camping-season service encounters to figure out that they had installed a 2-mode (heat pump and A/C) top unit back in 2019 that was apparently incompatible with the heat/cool thermostat.  In 2022 they replaced everything with identical (still incompatible) replacements.  I did not receive any explanation of their mistake until I pressed for details.  I did not receive an apology for their original mistake, let alone how many iterations-and many shortened camping seasons-it took them to figure it out.  I even gave them the opportunity to "make it right" with me by doing several (mostly labor) goodwill gestures and they declined.  I was told by 2 different CW Service Advisors on two separate occasions that "they don't make things like they used to".  While this may be true, I let each of them know that I wasn't very happy if that was the case, since I spent almost $50k buying that "poorly made" 5th Wheel from them at the same location.  This was particularly upsetting, because my wife and I were considering buying a new RV from them, and they'd even captured this in their service notes in 2022.  The Service Advisors should have been blaming their department, rather than a poorly made unit.  This reflects an unfortunate culture at CW where they're making excuses instead of providing competent, professional, responsive and prompt service to their customers.  After being a long-time loyal customer, I am disappointed that I have received this kind of service and will be looking for a new dealership to purchase and service RVs read more

I just spent over a hundred dollars to have a leak fixed in the fresh water line . it's sad that camping world has the same reputation everywhere. As soon as I turned on the spigot, water started running out of the bottom of the Rv. Bought a new Kodiak camper . Had no TV reception from day 1. We are an hour away and took back for all warranty work after the season was over. Supposedly fixed all issues. Put camper in storage as it was November. Pulled camper out this spring opened up. Debris everywhere from the warranty work they did. And TV's still no reception. Called back and they told us they couldn't do anything because it is now out of warranty. Horrible service dept. Sales team was great. Will never buy or recommend Camping World to anyone. read more

Will never go there again! Went for our walk through and to sign papers the trailer wasn't ready we had to wait to see it. Waited four hours to get out of there. They sneak all extra stuff into the price and add extra again at signing sound good till you get home and look at the cost total. Paid 17000 for camper they added stuff to make it 20000 . Bought our camper last July and only used it like three times. The last time we took it their was a rain and all of a sudden the big slide out started leaking uncontrollably. It was ridiculous you could see the damage done to the ceiling and the water sitting in the light above the table. And the electrical stopped working. Took it back to camping world to get it fixed. I have the service tech admitting on recording that camping world didn't check the camper over properly and the slide out was never caulked!!!! So obviously anyone who knows campers knows that when water gets into a camper it is not long that it starts to rot!!!! So a brand new camper will be rotted in a few years. Decided to work with them and ask them either replacing the slide out so there is no future problems or letting us find something on their lot of equal or lesser value. Rob denied all of what the service tech said and their service manager Justin didn't even know that there was wood in the walls of the camper. ARE YOU SERIOUS???? I even tried dealing with the number of the cooperate office and they all refused. So finally got a lawyer and we started out civil, we did a defamation instead of making a huge splash. But they still say no fault to them on the leak or electrical damage that still they have not found. WE are not done, we will be fighting further into it. Especially since I every phone call I make or take on my phone is recorded and all of it is documented very well. OOOOOOOHHHH and I tried picking up my camper this weekend because they all stated to give a days notice and i can pick it up whenever but now if i do there wont be a walk through like both legal parties stating that needed to be done at the time of pick up!!!! So this is my 2nd review of this place. Unfortunately I have had my camper for a few months now. The A/C is now tripping the breaker, the blind in the bed room has ripped out of the wall, there are leaves in the caulking around everything on the roof, the frame of my camper is twisted. You can not use the tounge of the camper, which is of course welded to the frame, to level the camper, the floors are uneven, I have to use the back bumper to level the camper. Today I called to talk with the service department, and was told they would have to call me back. Every time I have called for something or to talk with someone, I am told they are busy or not there, or in a meeting and to leave a message and they will call me back. But Noone ever calls back. This is by far the worst place to ever have to deal with. They do not care about customer service or the product they sell. Avoid this place at all cost. It's worth your time to drive elsewhere to purchase a camper or camping supplies. This has been the worst experience with a brand new camper, and a so call reputable company. My husband and I travel a lot. We have been all over the country and never had better service than we have received here! Ryan in service remembered us after a year and was so incredibly helpful when we called about an issue with our roof. While we were here they noticed another probably that could have had dire repercussions. They fixed everything no questions asked. They handled the all the paperwork for the warranty company and even ran us power so we could stay in the parking lot overnight while we waited for parts. The sales staff, reception, finance, store and service departments were very friendly and easy to work with. Ivan in the service department did a thorough walk thru and explained all operations. I'll give a quick run down, I could be here for hours. We were supposed to purchase a 2020 Montana from Camping World, and after signing loan paperwork from bank, Camping World came back and said they couldn't sell us that camper "because of mechanical issues." It was a brand new camper. Wouldn't give us an exact reason. So they were going to give us a 2021, okay fine, but the one they were trying to sell us, we HATED. We ended up finding one we loved and asked to get that one. They told us we were going to get the one we loved. We went to pick it up and it went downhill from there. It wasn't the camper we just bought online. It was exactly like the one they wanted to give us and we said we hated. Few issues with it, said they could do a work order on it. We just drove 4 hours ONE WAY to pick this up. It did have the dark couches which is the one thing we needed, with small kids. We got it home, when we went to hook the water up, pipes were leaking everywhere. We called them and the service manager even told us it hadn't been WINTERIZED!! Like, really? They can let a camper leave the lot in the middle of February when we're at below 0 temperatures and not winterize it? So now we have broken pipes, toilets, etc. it's been hell trying to get ahold of them to fix our issues. Let alone, not giving us the camper we originally purchased. Their excuse, someone uploaded the wrong pictures with the VIN # we wanted. I've even called corporate and they aren't doing anything! I will NEVER buy from them again! read more

I would not do business here. Extremely poor service department. I had work done to my camper, it was forgotten about. It was there for about a month. What was done I could have hired the neighborhood kid next door and would have received better quality of work. A few weeks ago CW was having a big sale we went out just to look around ending up buying a 21foot Coleman camper its was just the right size for my husband and I. The sales person Dean was awesome and funny he made us feel right at home and here comes Eric with 2 food chips for $12 each so we got BBQ ribs and Brisket mac and cheese and baked beans free water and popcorn & live music had a great day. Than a few days went by and went out to pick the camper up and got a walk though around the store, Nikki was great she introduce us to Justin in Tech service he was super nice and he went over everything that the camper had to offer and how everything worked. there was a couple of things that I didn't like and the only reason why I am giving you a 4 out of 5 stars is when the water drips down from the Air conditioner it goes right on top of a window and runs down and eventually will leak inside the camper and for paying that much for a camper you should get a sewer hose that comes with it instead we had to buy one to go with the camper so maybe I should give you a 3 out 5 stars read more

I bought a NEW Thor Class C rv here last year. Buying process was brutal. Don't believe them when they tell you that you are approved for a loan. After you sign a "deal" document, they want more money down. We got the RV, but we had to complain about their sales tactics to Camping World corporate. Now, after have some repairs done there, I believe the techs don't care about my 70,000 dollar RV. NO PRIDE IN THEIR WORK. NO ATTENTION TO DETAIL. Like Daniel G., I feel like the neighborhood kid could have done better. I know I could have done better, but it is under warranty. I mean, 3 trips to fix a water heater, bolts missing or over-tight, screw heads sticking out, and under body wood not sealed. BAD SERVICE DEPARTMENT. We just purchased a camper from the Cedar Falls Camping World. They were great to deal with. The weather was less than favorable each time we stopped to look at the camper. On our third visit they pulled the camper in so we could do a thorough walk through just to make sure we were happy with the camper. Eric G. our salesperson was not high pressure but very helpful answering all questions, something that means a lot to us. When doing the walk through John, our technician was very knowledgeable and explained the new features in our toy hauler. We bought our first Brand New camper from Camping World July 4th, 2019. It all started ok, until we came to the part when we picked it up.We found out our camper was dropped while it was being moved to the bay area for finally inspection, so therefore the front jack buckled and bent in half and had to be replaced.I have seen the way they move those campers around, so unprofessional, I should have taken that clue on that's how they run their businessThe tech assured us it was good to go, we took it home used it one night and saw the kitchen sink was cracked, called them and sure we will fix it.We took it in and told them to go through it, to make sure everything was ok, since your company dropped it.Took it in on a Saturday,they told us they would call us on Tuesday to let us know how things were going, but it would be for sure ready by the following Saturday for pick up.We received a call on Thursday to tell us, " oh they ordered the correct sink but the company sent the wrong one". So that is another week without a my New camer I have called Store management on this, NO RETURN CALL, customer service is horrible and there is no support system, no offer of how can we make this right for you !!! I have now spent $25,000.00 on a Brand New camper , and in a month time only been able to use it once.So " Buyer Beware " They promise you the world in their sales pitch, but when it comes down to it, the Customer service is terrible.The only reason they are even getting a 1 star, is because of our tech.With the way we are being treated, I will never recommend this place to anyone.The only way I will change my rating is if this company makes it right with us. read more

The vast majority of people working at Camping World Cedar Falls are sincere about helping and concerned about getting a camper that works for you & your needs. Regardless of some poor experiences people have shared here, we would say this...if something is going wrong with your experience here, SAY SOMETHING TO MANAGEMENT. Truth be told, I've delt with quite a few warranty repairs that reflect poorly on both the manufacturer and Camping World. In the past 6 months I've taken it back no less than 3 times for items that were either broken by the CW tech who "set-up" the camper or during assembly at the plant. It started with the tabs on the door falling out, stripped screw holes on the 4 glide rollers that attach to the beds and the dinette bump-out, a broken faucet handle, sprung hinges on the stove top cover, a broken panel on the swing down galley, vacuum locking on the sink drain, and the latest is discovering cracked welds on the steps. I attribute all this to poor quality control at the factory and the lack of mechanical aptitude by the CW service techs. Now...having said all that, I have made upgrades/modifications myself to remedy these things as I am a Mechanic by trade. Should you decide to entertain a conversation with a Rockwood salesman, don't let them mislead lead you into a "sale" price...that is a fairy tale. Rather...see what the MSRP is and deduct at least 30% from that as a starting point in your negotiations. Also...the add-on charges like set-up fees, dealer handling, vehicle service contract, wheel protection package are all inflated so that CW recovers that 30% off the MSRP that you thought was going to be a good deal. CW is sneaky when it comes to purchasing items as they will mark-up items and try to create a line item for shipping and then compound the taxes on it. Knowing what I know now, I would have purchased a different brand from a different retailer given the poor quality and service work I have experienced. We bought a camper from Camping World Cedar Falls a year ago. The salesman was super pushy and disregarded anything my wife had to say, super rude. He was suppose to be the most experienced and best salesman they had. He promised us we would get the best price for our trade in when we decided to upgrade. Well we went back to upgrade this year and they gave us a super low ball offer. I was offended by the offer and told the guy the salesman promised us we would be treated more than fair on our trade in. Of course he said it was a fair offer (for them). We used our camper for 6 separate weekends and kept it just as clean as when we bought it, if not better. I know they were going to turn around and sell it for the same price I had originally bought it or maybe a little less. Now they keep calling me wanting do business with them and get me to trade my camper in. Of course they want that has they would make good money on my trade and then make good money on the sell. Not to mention the whole operation is super unorganized and there is no communication between the departments. I will never do business with another Camping World ever again or recommend them to anyone. There are so many other places to get a camper from. read more
