Okay I am probably being g hard on these guys. It's more me then them. This looks like a nice family run place. And it was consistently busy. I am from Ohio. I am only in the area and in Texas for business for a few days. Looking for something unique to eat. Good ratings so I came here. I ordered the chicken fried steak. I have never had chicken fried steak in my life. It was way too much for me. Not really what I would order again. Not the restaurants fault. It was good. Lots of food. Very heavy meal. Not something I'd get again. Just not me. That's why I am not faulting them. Not their deal just mine. They have fried chicken and a burger. Both of those probably more my speed. Very rich gravy and heavy. Not use to that and mash potatoes and green beans. Wow it was like a large food baby. I had to go walk it off for a bit. If you like southern cooking this is it. It's good. Chicken Fried Steak was the worst I have ever had. It was listed in the Best of Fort Worth. I want to know who took a bribe. Unless they intentionally made my meal bad. I usually tip after the meal in cash. OK I had to get my own drink. However, when we asked where the silverware was, the person looked like we were speaking Martian. Silverware? Our daughter and her family moved to North Richland Hills a few weeks ago. We decided to try out your place so that when we visit we have a go to place. So glad we stopped by. My husband ordered the fried catfish and I ordered the BBQ Meatloaf. Both were perfectly seasoned and delicious. We finished our plates off and order a chicken fried steak to go for our son in law. This place is a Watauga, TX locally owned business. The food has been really well prepared each of the past five or six times we have gone. I have had the Pecan Grilled Chicken salad, Chicken Fried Steak, CFChicken, Grilled Salmon, Patty Melt and a BLT. We went right before the new year and again the food was really good. The drink machine has local sodas that use real sugar. The Root Beer is really good. Bring an appetite because the food will not not disappoint. The place is clean and simple. This place is so good! My family and I have been coming here for years - even all the way back when they were at their old location. Really good southern food! I usually always get the chicken fried chicken. The gravy is to die for! My husband usually gets the chorizo burger and he always really enjoys it. Chargrilled burgers with extra char. We ordered two Nolan Ryan 1/2 pound cheese burgers and both of them had about 1/4" of char all around them. Charred meat does not digest and makes people like me pretty sick and sometimes hospitalized. The guy who took my order was short with me and not polite at all. Seemed like he did not like his job. I called and asked to speak with a manager so I didn't have to review online and the same rude guy answered and stated they don't really have a manager so I just hung up and started writing. Sorry for the bad review. Need better customer service and be careful serving charred meats without telling the customer. read more

Ordered Chicken Fried Steak - it came as a fixed platter with mashed potatoes & green beans. To take advantage - I also got greens, mac & cheese and corn. Love that corn meant seasoned corn on the cob. For dessert- banana pudding & brownie. It all came via doordash. Everything was delicious - levels of flavor to every bite. This is one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants because of the tasty food at affordable prices. I always get the fried catfish and shrimp with fries and banana pudding. I've ordered to go as pick up or via food delivery and the food is consistently hot and fresh when I get home. I have not eaten inside but plan to soon. The catfish and shrimp are battered and fried so crispy which I love and the portions are enough for you to get full. The bonus for me are the yummy hush puppies made similar to how my granny made them. The best menu item is easily the banana pudding. You have never had banana pudding like theirs. My wife and I are takeout here once about 10'years ago from their old location. It was delicious. Just got takeout for 6 people about 2 weeks about and man it is even better then what I remembered. All the classic country food are perfect, but that gravy is something else. Catfish also was great. My biggest regret is not trying the banana pudding. They have a weird system of half fast food style and half restaurant... you go to the cashier to order and pay, get your own drinks, get your own silverware and napkins and seat yourself. I didn't like that part so much, but the food and hospitality made up for it. The Chicken Fried Steak was awesome, Texas sized with flavorful homemade gravy, mashed taters, Texas toast, and green beans. It was delicious, I guarantee you won't be let down with it. My wife raved about the Chicken Strips, which was interesting because she doesn't really like Chicken that much. My daughter got the catfish and said it was really flavorful and tasty. My son got Mac n Cheese and being 9 years old, tore it down pretty easily. Bottom line, it lived up to the reviews. The cashier and waiter were very friendly and hospitable, big smiles, patiently explained how it worked, genuinely appreciated our business. The decor was Texas themed and minimal and the menu was large with many American favorites. I got the chicken strips with fries and my husband got the patty melt. Love their lunch and dinner meals. Won't go back for breakfast. So excited to have a breakfast place close. It wasn't good. The eggs must have been powdered eggs, they had a funny taste and texture.
