    Gabby Taz and Cody!

Our 3 dogs have a great time during their weekly day camp visits. They have good interactions with other dogs and the camp counselors. And we know when we board them that they are well cared for and safe. Thank you Camp Bow Wow!

First, I'd like to express how much I enjoy all the holiday events. It's pretty neat to get a email or social media post showing my pups in a kissing booth, grinch photos, etc. It seems like the staff is putting in the extra effort to create memories for our pups while we're separated. The staff is great! I have had nothing, but positive interactions with each employee. Even when I was missing paperwork, the staff worked with me until I was able to provide proper material. Never felt like I was being ganged up or picked on. Everyone is sweet, friendly and willing to help. My 3 German Shepherd pups all have attended Doggie Day Camp, and Boarding. This facility will make sure to follow any food guidelines, allow personal blankets, and toys for overnight stays. It's important to make each pup feel secure and safe.

Oh, and the best part is, they have "Camper Cams" on which you are able to watch your dog while he's out in the play yards.

**Life-Changing. Truly.**…read more I don't write reviews lightly and I especially don't write emotional ones--but Bark Busters of San Diego quite literally gave me my life back. For years, I lived in silence and stress. I couldn't leave my home without my dogs barking, howling, scratching at their crates, and spiraling into panic. The mouth watering alone was enough to break me. So instead, I stayed home. I adjusted my life around their anxiety. I suffered quietly because I loved them and didn't know what else to do. Until one day I broke down completely. I realized this wasn't living not for me, and not for them. We deserved calm. We deserved peace. We deserved to live our "best" lives and this wasn't it. Some people complain in reviews that dog training "doesn't work." Let me be very clear: anxiety whether in humans or dogs is not something you fix by checking a box. A true behavioral therapist understands one thing above all else, "awareness". Anxiety comes from surroundings and perceived safety. The work is learning how to respond and create calm and that takes consistency. I spent three straight weeks training four hours a day, every single day. I cried. I doubted myself. I wanted to quit. But I followed the Bark Busters program exactly as taught--daily simulations, real-world scenarios, repetition, and patience. And then something incredible happened. My dogs slept. They relaxed. They trusted. Today, I can leave my home and my dogs are calm, quiet, and peacefully sleeping, knowing I'm coming back. Visitors come and go with ease. My 9- and 6-year-old Maltipoos are relaxed, confident, and happy. And so am I. Here's the truth people don't want to hear, there is no magic pill. There is no shortcut. The training never "ends" because leadership and love are lifelong commitments. And honestly? That's the gift. Once it becomes part of your daily life, it feels natural. I walk more. The cuddles are calmer. I'm no longer being climbed on out of anxiety I'm being loved in peace. And about the cost? Think about it. You've already spent more on multiple trainers, treats, wasted time, emotional exhaustion, and a very unhappy household. Bark Busters' training is guaranteed for life. If you move. If life changes. If new challenges come you're supported. That matters more than people realize. Justin and his team are beyond words. Compassionate. Honest. Direct. They don't just train dogs, they train families. Value your pet's life. Value the short, precious time we get with them. Happiness--for everyone in the home is worth the work.

As first-time dog owners, the early support really did help us. Having someone we could call during those overwhelming first months was a relief. Over time, though, I realized I was hoping the training would shift toward more positive reinforcement. The constant, harsher corrections worked at first but eventually didn't seem effective anymore and started affecting my relationship with Mimi. I noticed this during a family trip where Mimi, who is usually fearful of strangers, bonded more easily with my husband and his family. She gravitated toward them when scared, and I realized it might be because they weren't following the correction-heavy approach, while I was. I also asked for help with Mimi's fear and reactivity toward other dogs, but was told they didn't have dogs available for training and that I would need to bring a calm, socialized dog myself. As a non-trainer, that was very hard, but we tried by traveling many hours to introduce her to my husband's family dog. The experience ended up being chaotic since the family didn't fully understand what the process required, and new people and dogs kept appearing even though Mimi wasn't ready. Her reactivity came back in that environment, which made me feel like the training had only put a bandaid on deeper fear issues. Maybe I should have clarified expectations better from the start, but with a high-need dog and being new to all of this, I didn't know what to expect. Since then, we've switched to a positive reinforcement trainer who organizes structured group activities. Mimi is still scared of bigger dogs and can still be reactive, but she's improving slowly and has been able to meet a few smaller dogs. She's also still fearful of people, but she nips a lot less now, so progress is happening. Overall, Bark Busters helped us in the beginning, but long-term we found that a different, more positive approach has been a better fit for Mimi.

We stayed in touch even after puppy graduation and I would text her from time to time to ask questions or stay in touch. I found her on social media and loved her training information. I actually have 2 giant breed Greater Swiss mountain dogs and she has helped me with training both of them. Mainly frustration reactivity for my younger female "puppy" and then being able to successfully loose leash walk both of them together (2 strong willed and physically strong, with a combined weight of ~200 lb) female dogs. Each time we meet I leave with so much information. She's been great and I only wish we started training them with Amillie when my girls were younger. You won't regret this partnership or Amillie's expertise. Training comes natural to her. It's a gift and that's with me already having had 2 large breed independent dogs before working with her!

But, Xavier explained that it was all fear-based. We felt like prisoners in our own house because we felt we couldn't have people over and were constantly on edge that he might bite someone. Xavier made recommendations that gave us back our lives. We bought a crate and took Link everywhere in the house (and eventually outside) on leash. Initially I felt guilty because Link was confined for large portions of the day, but now he has more time outside or the crate/xpen and he will even go in on retreat there when he needs a break from the activity in the house. I was taking him on walks regularly, which made him very happy, but he still gets the "excited poops" and I have to stop and pick up after him 3-4 times per walk, which is not conducive to my exercise requirements (due to a health concern). I plan to try him on more relaxed evening walks and hopefully break his fear cycle and get him better socialized in the coming months.

We were beyond thrilled to add him to the family, but had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. Shortly after getting home, chaos ensued. Barking at everything, lunging at people and pets as we would pass. And I spent entirely too much time getting drug through the concrete. We were so disappointed and ready to give him back, which broke our hearts. Shortly after, we called Xavier. Having talked us off a ledge after my second trip through the concrete, we had our first meeting. We learned boundaries and consistency. With time, patience and setting boundaries and staying consistent we put in the work. We knew it wouldn't happen overnight but stayed with it. Now, 2.5 years later, he is a totally different dog. Do we still not love people passing the house? No.. but if I was abused previously I'd probably be weary for the rest of my life too. However, he is an amazing dog and we look back and our more and more happy that we didn't give up. We welcomed our first child last month to our crew. We were always slightly nervous with how he would do, but with staying consistent every step of the way and using the tools Xavier has given us for the rest of our lives, we were able to keep putting in the work. He has been a dream with our little girl, we will always proceed with caution and respect all boundaries, but he has so much love.
