We just had a horrible experience at Camp BowWow CR. We got a call 5 days into our 8 day stay that our dog had been in a couple fights and he needed to be isolated. He has been kenneled in other locations before and this had never happened. I was told by the manager it was possibly the large number of dogs in the play area that didn't work for him but because of fighting they couldn't have him back, and they were going to keep him in his kennel 24/7 for the next 2 days until we picked him. I understand, safety first, but when I asked how often he would be taken out to potty I was told the staffing was overloaded and he would probably not get out, but they would try to work something out. I told her that was not ok! She back pedaled and said it would be fine and they'd take care of him. Well, I don't think they did. My dog came home dirty, smelling, skittish, clearly had lost weight and was not himself. He threw up the first night home - which he never does. When my husband went in to pick him up, he came out tail tucked and not even happy to see us. My husband questioned them when we picked him up, they just brushed us off. They clearly had no plan for a dog they needed to separate. I watched my dog on video while he was there and he was interacting very well. If he got in a fight, I can understand keeping him isolated from group play - but they have to have a plan for that, a place they can potty dogs separately and give him interaction separately. I wasn't paying to keep him locked in a kennel alone 24/7. Based on his behavior when I picked him up - I am concerned he was not only isolated but treated very unkindly. It is taking time to coax him out of being skittish and back to his normal fun loving self. I do not recommend this place at all!!! read more

If I could do lower stars I would. My dogs went for a 3 night stay they came home and I've never seen dogs so sick in my life. My dogs both vomitted and had diarrhea multiple times since they have been home. My older dog has never had accidents in the house came home and has had diarrhea so bad that he's had accidents 2 nights in a row. Our best guess is that our dogs wet food was left out and spoiled during their stay making them both sick. We will NEVER bring our dogs back to this location. read more

I took my pup there twice for boarding. The first time was fine and we had no issues. This last time was a little different because we added a grooming service during his stay. When we picked him up he just seemed off. Just not himself and I just thought he might have been tired from all the playing, because that's what happened last time. However, the following day he started coughing and wheezing and I knew right away he had kennel cough. Called the vet right away and took him in and they said he had it, but then told me he also had Grooming Furunculosis which is caused a combination of poor sanitation of grooming tools and also using the brushes too hard on their coat. They also said he had what looked like a dog bite on his left side. I understand dogs roughhousing, but this is way too many strikes during one stay. Needless to say I spent hundreds of dollars on bloodwork and medication. Sorry bow bow, I won't be returning. read more

This place is disgusting and horrible. My dogs were in their cage most of the time. 2 days into our trip, we recieved a call from the camp saying our dogs has lost a lot of weight and we would need to bring more food. Our emergency contact brought in 2 extra bags of food. When we picked them up, the bags were never opened and our dog was extremely thin, we could see his bones. We took him to the vet and he had every parasite a dog can get. We saw on the cameras that over 10 dogs were drinking from the same bowl. The caretakers would just stand there and not play with the dogs. Do not bring your dog here. read more

I've been to numerous Camp Bow-wows (depending on where my job took me), but never have I ever seen my dog so excited about going anywhere! We have been taking our dog Charlie here for almost 3 years. Charlie is ten years old and I have taken him to different franchises once a week for day play since he was a puppy. We have had numerous unpleasant experiences with this ownership. Today was the last straw. We not only take him once a week here but when we go out of town we use them for boarding. We also pay for the most expensive package and they get all of their money up front. I am a small business owner myself so I understand what owning a small business is like. Today we had a Mother's Day trip planned and when my husband signed him up for his overnight stay, no one informed him that he needs to drop off before 11 am. Now, we have done this before (honestly I forgot) but he has never been the one who sets it up, it has always been me. So how would he have known? We have our car packed and about the head out when we realize this. He calls them at exactly 11:02. Someone named Alex answers and says "I'm sorry but I cannot hold my staff for you." We live 10 minutes away. You are telling me that you can't have 1 person stay for another 15 minutes for us? It was a mistake on our part, but we were never told. Not to mention they know exactly who called. They know we are a valuable customer who has been coming weekly for 3 years! I work in customer service and I still am shocked at the response we got. We have to wait until 5 pm to drop him off. If Alex truly is a manager or even the owner, shame on him. I will be sharing this experience with as many people as I know. read more

We've been having a good experience until I was detained at work and was late by 10 minutes. They were nice enough to call a couple times but told me he'd have to stay overnight. The reason for this is because they don't staff anyone overnight. I repeat: no one is there from closing until opening while your hound hangs out in a cage. I was pretty agitated when I learned I couldn't pick him up, most places just make you pay a fee. But when I learned it's because no one is there I was simply livid. So, basically, they really care about your dog, but not during off hours. Like, literally, they don't do that. read more

We have been using CBW since moving here two years ago. Our opinion is still the same ... happy dog ... happy owners! I was dismayed to read the post in regard to shots, etc. They must realize it is for their dogs good as well as all of us. With many dogs in the population, it is important they are up to date on vacunations & that their bordetello has the waiting period before boarding the dog. Our dog has never become sick while boarded. I highly recommend this kennel & their staff. read more

Prior to an extended vacation, we brought our dog to the daycare for the day just to see if she would like it....she absolutely loved it. She was buggered out when she got home. When we went on our vacation, we decided to bring her here. During our vacation, we were able to watch her online with the doggy app. When we picked her up, I truely believe she wa sad to leave Camp Bow Wow. The business is extremely clean and the staff was really nice to us and great with our dog. The prices are great as well. But regardless of the price, the way they treat our dog is worth the price they would charge. We have another vacation coming up and we will definitely go back. This place has been a great place over the last year and a half but in my personal experience it only takes one F-up to ruin all of those attaboys. My dog and I have been with this location since my dog was 6 mos old so we are going on a year and a half. I moved to Denver and still brought my dog to this location having to drive backwards from Highlands ranch and the back to the DTC so obviously I liked and trusted this facility and the people there with the care of my pet. I have done my part to keep my dogs vaccines up to date. When they post a sign in the window about requiring influenza vaccines I get them, both types. Two trips to the vet (one for the shots the second for the boosters), 4 shots, and over a hundred dollars later I get refused boarding privileges. My dog received the Bordatella vaccine 6 mos and 8 days ago. The vet said the vaccine was good for a year, so I took them at their word and put a reminder in my calendar at 11 mos to get the vaccine updated. Apparently this location requires this vaccine every 6 mos. I respect that and am not upset about that but for the life of me I can not figure out why they never bothered to tell me until I was turned down service at the door. This part is for the company: Your job is to board dogs and keep them healthy. You know your rules regarding shots and other things I do not. These rules are a fluid thing and are subject to change e.g. Influenza shots. I need you and your people to tell me these things and let me know when these things are changing or a something is coming up. When a customer comes in and gives your company the shot records of a dog those records should get uploaded or inputted with shot type and date received. I say should because I don't know how your company does it but this is what makes since at least to me. Once those vaccines are in the computer they can be filtered, sorted, and all kinds of cool things. Say my dog got her Bordatella 5 months ago, it would make sense to have the computer send out an email, a text, or at least flag the account so that when I go to pay, the employee can inform me that there is a vaccine about to expire. If you can not or will not help the customers by notifying them that they have needed vaccines coming up your company should have a grace period on vaccines. Your company posted about the influenza and gave what I would assume was a 30-90 day window for all of the customers to get in to compliance and up to date. My Vet says Bordatella is good for 12 mos, unknown to me until today your company says 6 mos, and at 6 mos and 8 days I am turned away at the door!!!! This is like having a plan to take your kid to daycare on your way to work then finding out the daycare is closed! Well now I have to figure out what to do with my child, I am late to work, and I have lost all faith in the company I pay to watch and care for my kid while I am at work. Your system is broken and I hope for the customers and the companies sake that it gets fixed. Unfortunately for me my faith was lost and I only give one chance. You guys care for the pets and have an amazing staff but that doesn't excuse negligence. read more

It took me a long time to decide to take my 3 yr old Siberian Husky to day-camp, but with me working long hours he needed to be able to play, socialize and get some energy out. I'm so glad that I chose Camp Bow Wow...the staff has been awesome and most know both of us by first name. Kai is always happy to go there and exhausted when he leaves. I love their packages as I now take him when I can (about once a week) and its already paid for... Even bigger bonus (for Kai and his sister Saale) is that they have Merrick's wet food and some delicious treats that I can't resist picking up for them every once in a while. I will be sad to leave this group when we move in a couple months, but am thrilled that we found such a great group. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for somewhere to take their pup for the day. read more

If your dog needs medication while being boarded DO NOT bring them here. There is a HUGE lack of communication that is going on here when it comes to administering dog meds. When we first boarded our pup here they under medicated her and when we boarded her a second time they over medicated her. The daily play time is ok as long as your dog won't need meds during that time period. If you do board here make sure to count the pills before you drop off so you know what you should be coming back with and whether or not they administered it correctly. read more

I had to use this business instead of my regular boarder due to a last minute trip. I told the very young person at checkin that my dog can be nervous while boarded and may require them to make sure he eats (by telling him to eat until he starts). I returned to pick him up a week later and instead of being excited to see me, my dog was lethargic and weak. The next morning his eyes were covered in a discharge so I took him to the vet. I was furious when they weighed him and found he had lost 8 lbs in one week. He had been weighed prior to boarding for the required shots so I know it was accurate. He ended up having multiple infections that required two different antibiotics. I ended up sending this feedback into the company via their website but it was ignored. Dog owners beware! read more

Beware when scheduling. I scheduled a week long stay for our puppies using the app. I received an email stating that two of the days I requested were unavailable and I was asked if I wanted to be put on the waitlist. I confirmed that I would like to be added to the waitlist for the two days they mentioned. The staff then assumed that because two days of my requested reservation were unavailable that I was not interested in the remaining days. However, this was never communicated to me. When I called to confirm the reservation, the young man at the front desk informed me that I did not have a reservation at all. I spoke to one of the owners and she was extremely rude, blamed me for the mistake, and was unwilling to work with me to find a solution. We will not be returning to Camp Bow Wow Castle Rock. read more

Finally there is a place to board my dog in CR that I can feel comfortable about!! We tried Tails Up which was ok but way too expensive, and Beau Monde where I was shocked at their seeming lack of knowledge about dog behavior, not to mention my dog and his bed came home beyond disgustingly filthy. But here we found fantastic, affordable boarding. The interior was extremely clean, didn't even smell like "dog". The rooms were a good size and they provide a cot for them to sleep on. Initially they require you bring your dog in for a complimentary day of daycare so that they can assure a good fit and lack of behavioral issues. I personally think this helped greatly for my dog in that he was that much more comfortable being dropped off when we went on vacation. They accommodated our dogs diet at 3x/day eating habits. And best of all, they exhausted my otherwise wired dog! They allow them to run and play in bunches for hours and hours each day. He came home and slept for a couple of days! We were even given a report card to fill us in on his days at camp which was a nice touch. They obviously enjoy their jobs, and that makes dropping my dog off so easy. Thanks, Camp Bow Wow! We'll definitely be back and I would recommend this place to anyone! read more

On occasion my wife and I travel by air requiring us to leave our three furry kids with a trusted doggie hotel. We have used other services but have found Camp Bow Wow to be top notch when it comes to caring for our dearly loved pets. They like to spend the night together so the camp makes accommodations for them in the evenings. During the day we get to watch our dogs via webcam enjoying other furry guests from our hotel room several states away. We enjoy using there other services so that when we return our animals are bathed and all their nails are clipped. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible... We had to leave town on short notice due to a death in the family. One dog, young and healthy, was taken to Camp Bow Wow. Another dog, 12 years old with a heart condition spent those days at the Vet. Camp Bow Wow returned our young dog to us WITH KENNEL COUGH!!! Symptoms did not present until days after we picked him up, as Kennel Cough has a 3-10 day gestation period. This resulted in our older dog ALSO getting infected. Calls to Camp Bow Wow were fruitless, with the manager, Rachel, telling us it is our responsibility, not theirs. I was told the owner Mark would call me; Mark explained that they actually DID have a dog present with active and infectious kennel cough that they removed during the time our dog was there. For reasons I cannot understand, Camp Bow Wow decided NOT TO TELL ANYONE picking up their dogs that they had been exposed. Yet somehow, they still deny and refuse to step up to any responsibility. I say again... CAMP BOW WOW EXPOSED OUR DOG TO KENNEL COUGH AND CHOSE TO COVER THIS UP!!! THEY TOLD NOBODY THEIR DOGS HAD BEEN EXPOSED. I am truly not looking to harm business for Camp Bow Wow; until this incident, I had nothing but great things to say about the place. I simply feel quite strongly that any pet boarding facility should operate openly and communicate that an exposure had occurred. The secondary exposure of Mycoplasma (for which there is no vaccine) to my senior dog with heart disease was completely preventable. read more

How do you do negative stars? Don't use them unless you work there! Surely something has better service. I won't go into all of the details, but will say some. I will say this is absolutely ridiculous with the amount of service provided here. They will say one thing, then another the next day. Was told to get the bordatella shots and make sure this was done before going to the "dog interview" so everything's ready for our puppy to stay there for our anniversary weekend. Was told this is all that is needed and we are good to go. Took time off work to get the bordatella vaccine and pay more expensive amount due to shorter notice and have to pay more for the booster in a few weeks. Got the rabies shot paperwork which was a hastle and also time off work to get ready in time. Delayed our weekend location due to waiting on this and prices went up by the way. Had wife take off work to take in for "dog interview" as well as myself to pick up dog from "dog interview". After the easy things we had to do for this, wife was told that vaccine had to settle in longer. It would have been fine if this was told to us earlier so other arrangements could have been made in time, but time off and distance traveled here prevailed. Now looking into last minute options or just doing nothing because we do care about our dog evidently more than this place cares about our dog haha. Left message and no return call, just listened to a guy talking about sleeping and romping with your dog on the voice mail. Not sure if that's what I'd want by the way. Upset customer, read more

My puppy has been going to day camp here for the last 2 months during the week and she LOVES it! Just saying the word "camp" now makes her run to the door wagging her whole body in excitement. I love that I can use their app or my computer to watch her play on the "Camper Cams" during the day and see all the fur friends she's making :). She has a blast running around all day, and it's perfect to get out all her puppy energy. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. They know my dog by name and treat her so well. I feel comfortable leaving my dog in their very capable hands. We recently tried boarding as well one night and she did great. Their cabins are very roomy and each one has a cot in it, too. They allow you to bring in beds, blankets, toys, and whatever else you want to help make your dog's stay a positive one. I do wish they had a staff member working overnight. I don't like that the dogs are completely alone once they close. Update 5/2/18: Our dog randomly started eating rocks in the outdoor play yard. They luckily passed without surgery but we didn't know if we'd be as lucky if it happened again. Obviously, the staff can't be held responsible for my dog's weird habits lol, but we had to change to a facility with astroturf instead of a rocks. If Camp Bow Wow upgrades their facilities with astroturf, we'd be thrilled to come back, as our dog definitely loved the amazing staff, got to play all day and get her energy out, and felt very comfortable there (which was wonderful since she was such a shy, nervous dog). read more

Please beware of this place. I have two dogs, BOTH had to be rushed to my Vet after staying. My little guy was grossly overfed and was shaking in pain. I carefully bagged each feeding for him since on the previous stay they did the same thing and blamed me for not bagging the food properly. It was obvious they simply put down food and let him eat what he wanted then complained to me he ran out of food and they had to supplement. My older dog was so stressed her inner eyelid bulged. She did not eat at all. I spoke to the owner who claims to have called my vet, only after I complained, and said this was just a natural reaction to her age. HE LIED. He never spoke to my vet. I was shocked no one even noticed her eye. It was so obvious when we picked them up and the young girl at check out said she was only parttime and really didn't know the dogs. I asked the owner to review their practices and correct them, he just said what they did was fine. Very poor management and a gross lack of concern to the dogs. Fortunately my older dogs eye went back to normal after a couple of months. Ive also since learned of the multiple claims and suits against this particular location. If your dogs are part of your family then please don't take them here. read more
