When we moved here in 2021, we did some research as to where we would have our juicy and delicious Lab Enzo go for day care and boarding. After going through the process of interviewing our offerings in Castle Rock, we chose Tails Up. Now it books up fast so you really should plan ahead. Although calling them and begging them also works ;) They have a very good online scheduling site where you can book all of their visits. Enzo loves it there and I can vouch for him since I can go online and watch him through all of their cameras. This play does NOT have all day play, which I prefer since my dog would be exhausted if they did that. When I board him there for longer than a few days, I always sign him up for some extra play sessions or tennis ball day where they put out a ton of tennis balls and dogs can live their best life playing fetch, etc. I can't recommend them enough! read more

I unfortunately can no longer recommend this boarding facility. Today we picked up our cats Rosco and Keanu from a 10 day stay (8/15/2024-8/23/2024), this is their 4th stay in 2 years with Tails Up. We texted to check in on them everyday and were told they were great. When we picked them up today though, it was clear they have been having diarrhea, with Rosco having lots of poo matted in his fur. They never let us know they were showing signs of illness, even with our daily check ins. They said nothing at pick up. Additionally, when picking up they informed me I could not go into the cat room to get them but had to wait and have them do it due to "the room being under construction" - that was a first but okay. They come out with my cats in their carrier and a bag with two of my cats toys and another animals medication, handing it to me saying this was theirs. I notified them it wasn't and instructed them we were missing a bag of many toys, a wand, blankets, etc. and their medication and treats. She came back with just the medication, told me I was good to go. Again asked about the bag of toys and blankets. Went back and brought just the bag of toys, said I was good to go. This went on for a total of 5-6 trips to bring us the rest of our stuff. She ended up still missing some wipes and our food scoop, but we didn't realize till we got home. The blanket we left in Rosco's crate also was in the laundry for some reason, they have never washed their bedding before which also tells me he must have had diarrhea bad enough to have to clean his bedding. We are very unsure if another animal's medication was administered to our cats based on this interaction, the diarrhea, and them acting very oddly since being home. Keanu keeps waking up in a panic from his naps like he is having bad dreams. It genuinely seems like they were not taken well care of while there. We are afraid they were administered medication that wasn't theirs and they could be sick from it. And they seem skittish and afraid. I do not know what the people at Tails Up did to them this time for them to react this way. They have been boarded for more than 10 days each time, and never come home like this. I texted their number right when we noticed they had diarrhea caked in their fur to ask if they had been sick, why we hadn't been notified if they had, and whether they had been administered another animals medication -- no response over 12 hours later. I have sent an email as well tonight, no response. Never received a "report card" either, even though their app notified me one should be available, which seems even more suspicious -- we have always received it right after check out. TLDR; I can no longer recommend this facility. They seemed to have misled me when checking in on their well being and his that they were having bad diarrhea, were completely disorganized on pick up (which is a first), lost several of our items, tried to give me another animals medication instead of their own to take home, and may have administered another animals medication to my cats. I cannot trust them to care for my cats and be conscious of their safety while boarding there, and my cats are acting traumatized now that they are home. Tails Up used to be a business I trusted (prior to the pandemic they were FANTASTIC every time) but my dogs' stays in 2023 have destroyed that trust and they will never see my business again. There was a small incident in May 2023 that gave me pause. But then we got a puppy and my backup petsitter also got a puppy and didn't feel comfortable with 2 puppies and 3 adult dogs (some mine and some hers) all together in her home and so Tails Up felt like our only option for our Thanksgiving trip. I left 12 days worth of food for one of my dogs, Sherlock, (3 packages - he gets 1/4 package per day or 1/8 am and 1/8 pm) for a 9 day trip. For my other dog, Westley, I left the exact amount he would need as he gets 1 package per day (larger, younger dog whom we are trying to get to gain weight since he's very active and on the lower end of healthy weight range). We were assured that they were familiar with Farmer's Dog diets. I confirmed amounts with a pre-check in survey and again at the check in desk. The amounts they get per day are clearly labeled on the package, with their name. On day 7 of my trip I was texted that my dogs were out of food, and could they give them kibble. I asked "How is that possible? We left more than enough?" then they found Westley's food, but Sherlock was out of food. But eventually we figured out what to do to get them through the last few days. At check out, I let the person at the front desk know I would need to speak to management about what occurred because it was very upsetting and ruined the rest of my trip to think they were overfeeding my elderly dog. I was told Quentin, a manager, would be in at 12 noon the next day and call me first thing the next day (today - as I write this at 1:15pm) in preparation for my call I looked at the post-trip report card around 11:45am and sure enough it said 1/4 packet am and 1/4 packet pm for both dogs- they overfed Sherlock by double and underfed Westley by half for 9 days. Then mysteriously at 12:08pm the profile updated to show 1/8 cup for Sherlock the entire duration of his stay - the measurement they used for the kibble for the last few days. So not only did they do the wrong thing but they're covering it up. And still I have not received a phone call. What they don't seem to be aware of is that they also underfed my puppy and that I do have screenshots of because they haven't doctored that yet. Edit to above: I did speak to Quentin shortly after 3pm and was told that 3 of my 9 days would be refunded. While I am thankful for the compensation and it will help with the cost of expedited shipping, my trust is broken and my dogs will not return. I truly help that my dogs' experience helps them to avoid this dangerous mistake in the future. read more

Tails up is THUMBS DOWN!!!! I had a horrible experience today in the Castle Rock location. The groomer met me in the lobby and raised her voice at me refusing to groom my Shepherd. My boy, Solomon, has been trained, boarded, and groomed at this location several times. But today the groomer's energy was very hostile even towards me. When I dropped him off everything was fine his energy was good. The groomer called my minutes later saying she wasn't going to finish grooming him. My dog was wet and I had to go back and pick him up. This groomer met me in the lobby and proceeded to embarrass and humiliate me because she was intimidated by my dog. There was a second groomer available on staff who had groomed my dog before. You would think that her grooming him would have been the solution, but no! I had to take my dog out in the snow and wind with damp fur. Solomon has never bitten anyone ever. Again, he's been trained, boarded, and groomed at this location several times. Tails Up had permanently lost my business. Terrible grooming staff, rude, unprofessional, uncaring, and lacks the skills and temperament to be trusted with your fur baby. I have been bringing my dog here for five years. In the last 2 new ownership has taken over. Employees have turned over and my dog cannot receive the simplest of care, like getting her medication. In my last stay I specifically told them not to contact me on a certain day because we were getting married. So please monitor the situation and make good choices. They called and texted both myself and my husband as we were starting our wedding day. I tried to contact them the day after for an update and called 10 times with no response or reply until almost noon. We cut our wedding weekend short with friends and family to pick up our dog because she was not being cared for properly. Another issue is my dog receives cuddle time. With the previous owners cuddle time meant she was taken from her enclosure to a cuddle room with a futon. These imbeciles were trying to perform cuddle time in her enclosure and complained that she was aggressive. Well no kidding. The enclosure is her space. She wouldn't let us- her owners- probably cuddle her in her space. I also was received with nothing but excuses as to why they could not give her the medication provided. No one except this boarder has issues with administering her medication on a spoon with marshmallow fluff. Disappointing. Never going back. The new ownership has no idea how to handle dogs in the simplest of ways. Don't bother bringing your pets here. I've gotten calls on all my vacations and wedding day due to their incompetence. read more

Good: Dog rooms and play yard are clean and well-kept. Our dog is always excited to go there to see his friends. We love seeing him play with his buddies on the doggie web cam. Plus the play yard staff appear to enjoy interacting with the dogs Bad: When boarding here on at least 2 occasions (2nd one being today), staff lost the food and water dishes that we brought, over-fed him per our feeding instructions and against our request, they gave him a bath - which knots up his coat if not blow dried. I would give it 5 stars but -1 for the fairly steep price increase with the new ownership and -1 for the staff not being attentive to even the most basic care details. In short, we've been taking our dog here for 8 years but since the new owners took over a couple of years ago, the new staff isn't as attentive, friendly or caring towards us. My cane corso has been going to TailsUp since he was 4 months old; he's 6 yrs now and his excitement every time we pull up has never wavered. The team really takes the time to get to know you and your pet and is always welcoming, patient, kind, fun, and most of all, responsible. The safety and happiness of my corso is number one and I feel confident that he's in the best of care every visit. After using Tails Up for 7 years for short and long term stays for our cat, we were very disappointed after our last visit a couple weeks ago. Our 19 year old cat stayed 4 nights. When we picked her up, she had been sitting in dirty cat litter for who knows how long and had feces and litter caked on her bottom and all the way down her tail. She wouldn't sit as she could feel the mess. The person at the front, who didn't bother to introduce himself, said she didn't want to climb up to use litterbox so they put it where her food and bed were. No one bothered to clean her up, nor did they THINK to open the pen larger to the side to move box away from her. No surprise, after she got home and we bathed her, she jumped right up to her window level bed. We know they are under new ownership since our last visit and obviously things have changed. We have utilized there services on multiple occasions with great results. On our most recent trip overseas we loved knowing our pup was in great hands and that we could watch him play on video. The staff, facility, and amenities are all top level and I would highly recommend this location for any pet owners looking for day care or boarding. UPDATE: We have added another furry child to our family and TailsUp has been great. Both boys are able to stay in a family unit and play together during private time. Our dog had a great experience at Tails Up! My husband and I admittedly read the website wrong about pricing so when we got our bill at the end we were shocked at the $45 per day rate vs the $32 we originally thought (that is the price of dayCare). The care for our dog was amazing and we had to extend his stay last minute and Tails up was able to accommodate. One recommendation I would provide would be for families to get updates on their pet regularly especially if the pet is boarded overnight. I was on vacation with some out of state families and they got daily updates on their pet which would've been really nice to have! read more

Horrible experience at this facility. As soon as I walked in customer service sucked. No happy smiles or anything. It was like a morgue in there. Picked up woof after staying here and dog was acting like I've never seen. Breathing irregular, panting as if she just got back from an all day hike. Was covered in other dogs pee (was supposed to be bathed prior to pickup) She was thirsty like I've never seen, drank a ton and I mean a TON of water in the car just outside the parking lot. Her back feet were bleeding on the middle pads. Never seen that ever and I walk her outside everyday. She has never had bloody feet before. Just feels like my dog did not get the proper service that this facility claims to provide. I will NEVER take my dog to this location or any other pet hotel EVER AGAIN. This experience will permanently be stuck in my head and has given all Pet Hotels a bad reputation in my opinion. It's heart breaking to know places like this exist and are able to stay open operating as poorly as I just have witnessed. Hopefully proper staff, management, and training can better this place in the future. read more

Tails Up - Foot sore - Pet Boarding Near Me - Castle Rock, Colorado

On any given day I would probably pass for an easy going, level headed, Average Joe. The one exception to this rule are my two Italian Greyhounds. These little quadrupeds have the ability to turn me into a self-confessed hot neurotic mess. When I go on vacation, like may others with my condition, I want to know they are well taken care of. I feel completely comfortable leaving them at Tails Up. Before you can board, you and your babies have to meet with a staff member for a pre-board interview. Initially, I thought this was a little over the top - I have never done this anywhere else - but was happy I did afterwards. During the interview you get a tour of the whole facility. Their questions are also designed to anticipate a few situations I had not considered from socialization, medical emergencies, to daily routines. The whole interview was very low pressure and definitely helps you decide if Tails Up is the right fit for you. The first thing I noticed was how CLEAN the building was. The floors were spotless and there were no odors in the air. Even the outdoor area was well maintained. It was also comforting to know that there is a staff member on site 24 hours a day. You can even check out their webcams online to make sure your dogs are getting exercise. It seems they are aiming for transparency. You will definitely pay a premium for the services but I suppose peace of mind isn't cheap. The staff have always been nice and eager to help. read more

Over spring break we needed to kennel our labradoodle, Jett. Our flight left early so we arranged for a special 5 am drop off. However, when my husband arrived no one would answer the door. We called and called to no avail so he headed home with the dog so we wouldn't miss our flight knowing a friend would have to take him back to Tails Up later. I was so disappointed. But wait! Marc called my before our flight left Denver to apologize and make it right. He took full responsibility for the mishap and even offered to pick Jett up. He apologized left, right and sideways and assured me that he would speak with the night-crew to find out what went wrong and remedy the problem. He did. Tails Up went above and beyond and outright exceeded our expectations in the way they handled the situation. When we picked Jett up he was happy, calm and they even gave him a complimentary bath. We own a small business and know how challenging it can be to find good help. Tails Up took what could have been a game-changing experience for us and turned us into life-long clients. I just picked my two dogs up after a four night stay at Tails Up. Neither of my dogs had been at a dog boarding facility before. They returned home tired, as I figured they would. Staying a dog boarding facility is stressful for dogs. However, after a good night's sleep, they're absolutely fine. It's like they never left home! The facility is spotless. The dog kennels were roomy, the outdoor area clean and shaded. I met with several employees as I first toured the facility, then interviewed with them (with my dogs), then dropped off/picked up my dogs. EVERY single employee I spoke with was friendly and seemed very dog friendly. Surprising to me as it seems that friendliness and politeness have become a thing of the past. Based upon this experience, I would recommend Tails Up to anyone looking to board their dog in a clean, friendly, and reasonable facility. read more

We absolutely love Tails Up!! Our 11 year old rescue tends to get nervous whenever we leave her with friends and family. But when we have her stay at Tails Up she isn't ever nervous! She is always super happy when we pick her up and isn't hesitant when we drop her off. I utilize the dog cams to check up on her and can see she is always having fun. The staff is excellent and they know pets so well. They follow through with medications without issues and always do a great job of talking to you during pick up, letting you know how things went and if there were any concerns. Here is my update after Jill Sousa's passive-aggresive reply, to not me, but to anyone reading this review. Jill, your business does not do business well. I'll tell you why. I have a few members from out of town that are guests at my wedding in Castle Rock THAT WERE GIVEN RESERVATIONS at your facility and given a chance for their dogs to meet your requirements for boarding the Thursday before my event. Mind you we are all coming in at the same time. I call 2 months in advance (on recommendation from my wedding guests), and am told no, you will not accommodate me because I cannot come sooner than the Thursday before and that you will be full (not full of reservations yet, but you're sure you will be). After expressing my unhappiness with the situation, I am told "Sorry, that's just how it is." Not to mention how unkind and cocky you were over the phone. I'll tell you how it is... It's unfair to offer your services to different people of the same situation, but pick and choose depending on your mood for the day (take a Midol would ya?). It's a type of discrimination, as silly as it sounds. So, as you get my wedding guests' business, you refuse mine. Good for you. However... what you did was not right and I will let people know about your crappy business principles as I see fit. Next time, direct your comment to the person you should be replying to. Quit being so rude. Thanks for caring, but yes, I found a wonderful place for my dogs. I'm relieved it's not with your shabby establishment. You deserve this review 110%. read more

We found Tails Up when we first moved to Castle Rock from out of state 5 years ago. We had always had family members take care of our dog in CA but were stressed that we had to find a place to board her for the first time in a brand new city. We couldn't be happier with the way she was taken care of back then and have used them exclusively for both boarding and day care ever since then. Whether it be for a short daycare visit or a three week boarding, Jill and Marc go out of their way to ensure that your dogs are treated like family. We love that there is someone at the facility 24/7 so we are assured that our dogs will be well taken care of, even after normal business hours, especially if they were to need medical attention. They (and their staff) are so patient and accommodating with our senior dog as well as our new rambunctious rescue dog. We love the "report cards" we get at the end of their stays. Because they are so good at what they do, they do get booked up early (especially for the holidays and summer break) so reserve a spot early if you want your pooches to be loved on like they are at home! read more

We have a really quirky rescue who loves other dogs but very wary of people. Mark and staff have been so willing to care for Wilson and he is making some progress. Love em! We have left our fur baby there now a number of times, and are always comfortable knowing she is so well taken care of. We leave town feeling like she'll have fun on her vacation too. The owners are almost always there (a good sign to my husband and I). They have been very accommodating when we have had emergency/last minute situations. We also like that they keep notes about our dog's likes, food, and what works for her, that we have access to see her on the doggie-cam. It's also great that when we can call to check on her, whoever answers knows what dog we're talking about and how she's doing. Good job Tails Up! read more

I highly recommend Tails Up. The staff really takes an interest in your pet, how the dog behaves and interacts with other dogs, etc. Clean facility, staffed 24 hours, no extra charge for feeding. My goldendoodle puppy (10 Months) has been going to Tails Up for about 5 months. The folks at Tails Up have always been professional and caring with us as customers. In addition, they know the dogs and are always eager to greet them. My dog, Sammy, eagerly runs to the front door of Tails Up and is always ready to go back. I so appreciate the model that Tails Up has for the dogs. Pre-consultation and then their way of dividing dogs into appropriate groups. This is the best place in the world, bar none, to take your dogs, cats. They all genuinely care about the animals, and take care of them like they are their own. My 3 dogs are my kids and this is the only place I trust to take care of them. I like the fact that they have them in play groups based on their size and activity level, and let them relax in between. I started taking my kids there 2 months after they open. I investigated other day care and boarding facilities and nothing compared to TailsUp at all. They weren't even close. read more

Mark is a standup guy, all of our dogs favorite, he accepted responsibility and apologized immediately for the death of our beloved Golden, Jesse...offering to pay half of the $4800.00 Emergency Vet bill. Our dog has gone to Tails Up for years, since they first opened. The employees at Tails Up have an absolute passion for animals that shows from the moment you walk in. We used to board our lab at another local place and it always bothered me at night they are left alone. I loved that at Tails Up an employee sleeps there at night! I, personally, like that the dogs aren't out all day. They like to curl up and take a nap once in awhile! I also love that if you happen to get home at 8:00 on a Sunday someone is there and you can pick them up. I can tell you from experience that in a crisis they are amazing. The unthinkable happened the last time we went out of town and our almost 12 year old lab was very sick. She hadn't been eating all that well leading up to going out of town, but this had happened before and she had just had her annual checkup and was said to be in great health considering her age. Two days into our trip she had to be rushed to the vet by the wonderful employees at Tails Up. Thank goodness someone was there! It didn't end well for our girl as x-rays showed major internal bleeding and after her blood failed to clot they couldn't even open her up to see what was going on. The vet was pretty sure it was liver cancer and we had to let her go. Throughout this horrible ordeal Jill was calling and texting me and calling our vet. I will never forget the compassion and professionalism they showed. The entire staff signed a book called "Dog Heaven" and mailed it to us. So sweet! They went above and beyond! I will recommend Tails Up to everyone and when we are ready to get another dog I will surely bring her there. Thank you to the entire staff at Tails Up! read more

We recently boarded our dogs at Tails Up in Castle Rock. This is the best facility we've used so far and I've tried three other pet boarding facilities in the Castle Rock and Parker area. One of my dogs had a medical issue during his stay and if it wasn't for the attentive employee at Tails Up who discovered the problem the issue could have been much worse for my dog. I find the facility to be extremely clean and well managed. I called several times to check on my dogs during their stay and each time I spoke with someone live or I received a callback with an update within the hour. I can't say enough about Tails Up. We have two large dogs who are our "first" children. They are spoiled and loved so well that leaving them in a "doggie daycare" setting of any kind was SO hard for me to fathom. We checked out a few and fell in love with Tails Up. The fact that our dogs weren't out playing ALL day long with a million other dogs was so nice as it can be extremely overwhelming, especially for our anti social hound dog :) The different play groups, the love and attention they received, they always knew our dogs names when we brought them in, no matter who was checking them in! They even complained when we would come pick them up! :) One of the biggest things for me was knowing someone was onsite 24/7. I'm very paranoid and it helped me sleep at night when we'd have to go out of town. Our pups loved it there so much that we got to a point where we couldn't mention "doggie daycare" within hearing range of either of them because they would freak out they got so excited to go there. We used them for 3 years and just recently had to move out of town and I can't find a place even remotely close to the quality of care and setting as Tails Up, hence I haven't boarded them yet. I'd gladly pay the higher rates to have them in our new town. read more
