When he comes in the staff greets him with "hi Randy" I can tell they really love him. Boarding: He always goes to Barkley for boarding. Once when we had just landed in Minneapolis for a 9 day vacation, he had a little emergency during boarding. Kim called immediately and said do not come home, we will take good care of him and had already taken him to our vet. We completely trust her and he was just fine. This is a wonderful kennel out in the country. Yes, this kennel is on the property of the owners. Their home is here. They are here with your pets. Wide open spaces surround this kennel. My dog has separation anxiety, and has been boarded from a few days to several months when I was moving. He loves it here. During the last month of my move, I had six critters...three dogs and three cats boarded. All of them were well cared of and loved in my absence. If you want a yuppie kennel that has spa treatments, swimming pools and 24/7 video surveillance, this will not be the kennel for you. If you want your pets cared for by a wonderful family in a kennel that is at their home, I highly recommend Hallcrest. Marilyn and Bob are the best. I am absolutely heartbroken, disgusted, and incredibly disappointed by what I witnessed at The Ruff House. My dogs have attended this daycare 3 or 4 times, and until today, I felt comfortable leaving them there. One of the things I appreciated was having access to the live cameras so I could check in on them throughout the day. Unfortunately, what I witnessed today completely changed my opinion of this facility. While watching the cameras, I observed a female employee repeatedly forcefully pushing larger dogs away and appearing to kick them, including two large black dogs that appeared to simply be playing. What upset me most was watching this employee retrieve what appeared to be a thin rope from a closet, place it tightly around one of the black dogs' necks, and repeatedly pull on it in an attempt to control him. The dog continued trying to bite at the rope while she pulled harder. It was incredibly difficult to watch, and I was genuinely concerned for that dog's safety. I have screen recordings of these interactions, including the incident involving the rope. I couldn't believe what I was witnessing and felt it was important to document it. I completely understand that managing a large group of dogs requires patience, structure, and appropriate behavior management. Dogs can be energetic, they jump, they play, and sometimes they need redirection. But there is a significant difference between safely managing behavior and using unnecessary physical force. I also observed an employee vaping while supervising the dogs, along with repeated instances of employees pushing dogs away when they approached them. The overall lack of positive interaction was disappointing, especially at a facility where people pay to have their dogs cared for. When I picked my dogs up, the employee apologized for how busy they were that day. I understand that some days are busier than others, but ensuring adequate staffing, supervision, and properly trained employees is the facility's responsibility. I had originally planned to leave my dogs for a half day, but after watching these interactions, I picked them up after approximately 2 hours because I no longer felt comfortable having them there. What breaks my heart the most is that the dog involved in the rope incident wasn't even mine. Someone dropped their dog off trusting that he would be safe, cared for, and treated with kindness. I can only imagine how devastated I would be if I watched someone handle one of my dogs that way. I have already formally reported these incidents to Humane Colorado Animal Protection and Colorado's Pet Animal Care and Facilities Act (PACFA) program. I have also documented my concerns directly with The Ruff House and preserved the screen recordings as evidence. My hope is that these reports lead to a thorough investigation and appropriate action to ensure this doesn't happen to other dogs. I will never bring my dogs back to this facility. I'm sharing my experience because I would want someone to tell me if they witnessed this happening somewhere I trusted with my pets. Our dogs cannot speak up for themselves. They depend on us to protect them, advocate for them, and make sure the people entrusted with their care treat them with kindness and respect. They deserve so much better than what I witnessed today.

As we left, we discussed if the one that kept approaching her was the one she wanted, did she need time away to think about it, did she want to look somewhere else. A week later we adopted from FuzzyPups!. Answers to every question came with years of observation and experience, with resources and names, with highly advised suggestions. At no time did I feel pressured to adopt. They understood our need to find the right fit. Even their adoption application asks questions to help them help you. Let me answer that for you... NO! And no, I don't have a "fuzzypup," I ran across them while searching for a REPUTABLE havanese breeder and was absolutely appalled that these disgusting mill brokers tried to paint themselves as a "family business all about the dogs." Give me a break. All about the Benjamins maybe. I just laid my rescued mill dog (from a mill dog shelter, not "rescued" by buying them from the mill!!) to rest, about 5 years before her breed's typical lifespan, after years of illness and suffering, because people like ol' Clem and Fuzzypups couldn't care less if they're churning out dogs that are going to suffer from painful health defects all their short lives. They'd rather make money off torturing sentient creatures- and make no bones about it, that's what dogs in mills go through- torture! Before they accuse me of being against breeders, there's absolutely nothing wrong with buying a dog from a responsible breeder who is doing everything they can to produce healthy, well adjusted dogs, better the breed, and do right by dogkind. Heck, I'm looking for a good breeder myself, for my own reasons. Fuzzypups is NOT a good breeder, nor is Clem Disterhaupt. Sure, you might get lucky and end up with a healthy or psychologically sound dog if you buy from Fuzzypups, but based on other reviews it's quite the gamble. MORE IMPORTANTLY, any money you give to Fuzzypups, whether through boarding, grooming, or buying a puppy, is going directly back into the mill industry and ensuring people like Clem Disterhaupt can stay in business to keep churning out mill puppies. If you care about dogs AT ALL, stay far, FAR away!!

We adopted our lovely Havanese in July 2015, and had never traveled without Teddy. We read Mary's…read morereviews and called for a meet-up with the dog. We were immediately impressed with Mary as a person and her ability to bond with Teddy who likes to check out newcomers. Mary's responsiveness and thoroughness is outstanding. In my years in health care, and I am 66 years old, I rarely have seen such a gifted customer service individual. We had a weekend out of town during which Mary comforted Teddy during rainstorms while our housesitting friend was at work. Mary sends a message via text about her visit. It's like having a nanny cam for your companion! This week we again turned to Mary who is very special to take our task at short notice, and we know our baby will again be in very loving hands.
