Stopped in to Camp 31 for a late lunch while in the area for work. I had no problem getting seated and my server took my drink order while I reviewed the menu. I ordered up a quarter chicken diner with the upgraded Mac and cheese as a side. My order came out promptly and all was quite good. They have a condiment basket at the table with their various BBQ sauces to try. The only thing I would comment on was that the food was just barely warm and that the sauce for the mac and cheese was kind of clumpy. Would have been nice if they put it under the broiler for a minute and added some green onion on top. Will come back in the future to try some more on their menu. read more

3 strikes and they're out. I'm in Burlington and every time I visit Paris I have problems getting their food. I'm in a wheelchair and the place isn't accessible. You try to do pick up and they have no "take out" spots left and refuse to make an extra sandwich for pick up. Literally every time I go there there is some issue and they are very unapologetic. Last time we were parked in front trying to get 2 sandwiches, a woman hobbled in on a cane and came out 2 min later saying they wouldn't seat her because they "had no room at the counter." This place does everything to discourage customers. Message received. I don't care how good your bbq is, chasing away customers is a silly marketing strategy. I'm out. read more

Got the rib combo which includes 1/3 St. Louis Ribs + choice of meat (got the BBQ chicken) + side (got the coleslaw). The combo also comes with a side of beans. Pros: - Really delicious fall off the meat rib. - A lot of different menu options and sides. - Great sauces - I recommend the Cajun sauce. I love it when I find a great "hole in the wall" type restaurant. I am from London, Ontario and was navigating to Camp31 by gps. When I approached the restaurant, I thought it was a garage ... until my gps said that I arrived at my destination. Probably because I was looking at the Mater toe truck in the parking lot. The restaurant was clean and in good condition. The staff were fast and friendly. Food was served very quickly. This is a bbq / southern style type restaurant. They serve things like pulled pork, chicken, ribs as well as burgers and club sandwiches. We started with an appetizer of onions straws. They were very good and pretty much what we expected I ordered the pulled pork Mac and cheese with corn bread. My wife ordered a pulled pork sandwich with a coleslaw. Both meals were very nice, portion sizes as expected, neither too small or too large. I found the prices a tiny bit on the high side of good. Country music is not a genre I enjoy, but it is appropriate for this style restaurant. My only minor complaint is I found the music a little too loud. If you are in the Paris area, definitely give this place a try if you haven't already. I am sure that we will return when we are in the area next. I will post a photo of the Mater toe truck. I've had the brisket dip ( is ok not great ) and the peppercorn burger ( very good ) The servers are excellent, the beer is nice and cold, the music is great. But I won't be back. The amount of black flies and regular flies in this restaurant are brutal. Both times we spent the whole time swatting them away. They seriously need to do something about it. read more

Thought we would try Camp 31 again for a Mother's Day lunch. Was another miss. Ribs I ordered were so tough I had to saw them off the bones. Didn't even finish them. They must not have been smoked long enough. Fries were lukewarm and hard. My wife had the chicken which she said wasn't that good and was very dry. Her fries were also lukewarm and hard. This place seems to be going downhill. Think we will stay away from it now. Very disappointing because years ago it was pretty good. Oh well. Lots of other restaurants to choose from. read more

If you been to enough ribfests in Ontario, you probably see Camp 31 Bar-B-Q as one of the vendors. I never been to the restaurant itself in Paris, ON, but the ribs I tried during one of my ribfest encounter seems to be A-OK. Not too fatty but tender enough, but it does need to have a little more BBQ sauce. I probably will not make a special trip down to eat at the restaurant but definitely will give it another try if I am at a ribfest! Btw, Camp 31 Bar-B-Q usually has one of the longest lines! The smokiness, open flame and the smell of meat really attracts the crowd! read more

Ribs and brisket have been very inconsistent over the years. Various sides are laughable in their execution (I recall a Mac and cheese that was watery pasta with a handful of grated cheese melted on top). Considering the cost for a family to eat the inconsistency in the quality of food is a big deterrent. They are the reason I bought a Yoder. read more

Had their take out on Friday and was really disappointed. I ordered the 2 meat combo and while the chicken was really good they cut it down to almost just a small drumstick. I also ordered the brisket which was nothing more than fat and gristle. The smashed potatoes and beans were delicious but definitely not worth what I paid. Will probably not be going back. read more

Came on a Sunday at 1pm and it wasn't too busy. Ordered the backside special with Mac and cheese side along with the beans. Deep fried pickles for starter with a nice spicy dip. They are potato slice like pieces of pickle instead of the wedges I've usually seen. Pretty tasty for deep fried pickles and I don't usually like them! Ribs were a generous portion with a nice smokey beans and a cheesy Mac and cheese. Ribs were tender and moist. Definitely coming back! read more

Was in town for business and saw the good reviews on Yelp, so we gave the place a shot. We all got ribs. They have Baby Back (ribs on the top of the pig; smaller but more tender) and St Louis Style Ribs (side ribs; larger but a bit more fat). Both styles were very good, and the sauces (5 house styles) and sides were great. I'm giving 4 stars because, while the ribs were good, I've had better in Wisconsin and Chicago. The service was good but the food is slow cookin', so expect a relaxed pace meal. I'd definitely revisit again to try other meals on the menu. read more

I have been to your restaurant many times and have introduced this to many of my friends and business people. It used to be great but is slowly going downhill. Servers are the gateway to your business. Socialize on your break not during dinner service. Be attentive to your tables and get your orders right. Sad. I've lived 15 minutes away from those place for 18 years and just made my first visit. I'm not a huge rib fan so I've stayed away but when I heard their fried chicken was to die for, I went the next day. I loved this place when I went before but this last time was a total waste of money- had the beef dip as a take out order- got home and the fries were undercooked (had to put them in the oven to finish the cook) they forgot the garlic sauce that goes with the sandwich (listed on menu and usually very good) and the au jus with the sandwich was all fat and no flavour-they also changed the bun- they went from a garlic acer bun to a glorified hot dog bun- I even gave them a chance to explain by DM via their facebook page- no respomse after 2 days- 18.95 for a very disappointing, underwhelming sandwich. read more

Many years ago their ribs were fantastic but about 7 years ago they started serving a non meaty rib that was overcooked and therefore dry. We thought we would give them another try and nothing has changed but the increased price. Good ribs should be meaty, juicy, fall off the bone - these are not good ribs. Also need to mention the beans, in my opinion not worth getting as it's way to sweet. read more

I discovered Camp 31 at the ribfest in Pickering this summer, I randomly picked out two of the vender's there which i thought looked like the had good ribs and Camp 31 was on of them. The ribs were good, and the sauce was delicious!! They were defiantly better then the other rack of ribs picked out from another booth so I decided to take a trip to Paris to have them again.. The restaurant was packed!! People were lined up outside waiting to get a table, I took this as a good sign. At ribfest they serve side ribs so I wanted to try their baby backs. We ordered garlic bread for the table which was fantastic! Each rack of ribs comes with baked beans or you can switch them for another side, you can have two sides so I chose baked potato and coleslaw. The potato was huge and loaded with all the toppings! The ribs had lots of sauce and was okay, I was kind of disappointed. They didn't seem as good as they were as ribfest, as I remembered them to be.. Overall, the food was just average, if I'm in the area I would come back but I don't think I will be making any special trip to come back anytime soon. read more

So... I missed Ribfest this year because of the weather and the jam packed parking lot at centennial park. Never fear... back up is here!!! Instead of going to the fest i just went and found the best! They were runner up just last week for the best ribs at the Toronto Ribfest and they won a few different awards in the past. So, as a good excuse to visit this really pretty river side town only about 1/2 hour outside of Hamilton we set off on a beautiful sunny Sunday! The restaurant was only occupied by 2 other tables at 11:55am when we arrived. Lucky us :) We grabbed patio seats and settle in to pour over their menu. We ended up with pulled pork, beef brisket and fried chicken with mac n cheese, baked beans, a caesar salad and corn bread. The best part of that whole entire meal was 3 parts: Corn Bread: Enjoyed the bits of corn in the better, crispy on the outside but moist and slightly sweet on the inside. It was so good I didn't feel the need to butter it. Fried Chicken: WOWZA i didn't even look in the direction of the pulled pork or brisket as I devoured my piece. Camp 31 Rajun Cajun Bbq Sauce: Just try it.. tiny amount of kick but huge amount of flavor. The rest of it was good but those 3 really stood out. Now you're probably wondering...ahem where are the ribs??? I ended up picking up 3 racks for my family dinner that night with all the other meats and fixins... Lets just say I was very appreciated that night! We tried the baby back and side ribs and both were fall off the bone but the meat was still sturdy. The sauce on it was literally finger licking good! The service and atmosphere were great and the staff was very accommodating with me picking up my take out order later in the afternoon. I know where to go next time I get a rib craving ;) read more

One of my favourites.. Price range is that of Montanas, but the taste is superior to its competitors. Seating is quite limited so prepare for a long wait on a Friday or Saturday night. My favourite is the country steak, always battered and cooked perfectly; tender, not chewy. Members of my party have also ordered the rotisserie chicken, ceasar salad, and ribs with rave reviews as well. Ryan from Camp 31 did an amazing job catering our daughter's wedding. I cannot say enough good things about our experience. He was an excellent helper and host, and the food was fabulous. Our little ball potatoes were soft and Ryan really went the extra mile to make sure everything went off without a hitch. I would certainly use them again and will recommend them in the future. I have given 3 opportunities to camp 31 to serve me food that was enjoyable it came close the first time I was there, the second time the food was not hot (temperature) and the sauce was not very good and the third time the fries were way overcooked and we did not receive what we ordered.I have eaten BBQ in the south believe me this is NOT IT I think the southern cooks care more about what they serve I was given a ten dollar voucher for our poor food, and put it in the paper shredder when I got home .I was going to say the service was good but if they bring food like that to you,how good was it.
