This place from the outside and inside is pretty cool looking. The outside is in red with big windows. The inside has lots of seating and a rustic feel and chalk boards. Unfortunately the food wasn't as good as the place looks, which is what matters, to me anyway. We ordered the chicken sandwich ($12) and quarter chicken dinner ($14) with a breast/wing and poutine ($6 up charge). For a $20 plate I expected it to be much more than what it was. The chicken was barely warm and although there was a little bit of seasoning on it, the breast/wing tasted pretty plain. The poutine was good with the right amount of cheese curds (although they were cold and squeakless) and gravy, but the chicken was a total let down. The concept of the chicken rotating over the hot charcoal sounds great, but the execution is poor with hardly any flavor. The $12 chicken sandwich was also disappointing, with a mix of tasteless dark and white meat, and far too much bun. They have three sauces on the side, mild (very plain with little taste), spicy (the best one), and extra spicy (far too hot). We also ordered a flavored water, mango mint with vodka. They didn't have mango so they gave us strawberry without even asking if it was okay. $9 for that drink.

Simple, classic roasted chicken with amazing fries and great service. What else do you want? (Well better AC when it's 35C outside) It gets warm in here with the roaster being right there. It's probably one of my favourite cuts of fries to boot... crispy shoe strings on every bite. I'm sad I didn't get to try the poutine, but will swing by again when I'm anywhere close.

Ordered chicken leg with purine fries and chicken noodle soup. Overall everything is ok good. The poutine cheese was not melted fully, a bit disappointing. I appreciate the Chickens are hormone free. It's quite yum, but not mind blowing for sure.

Picked this place after reading some reviews as we were in town for the day for some sightseeing. Parking was easy and close and it wasn't difficult to find. We were seated promptly and the menu is short and concise but still offers a good selection. We ordered and received our food promptly. The chicken was so moist and delicious. Great flavors. They cook the chicken over charcoals right in the restaurant behind the register. The puri puri sauce was spicy and not my favorite but still good. Fries were a bit brown for my liking but they have several options to choose from for sides. All in all a great quick meal in a busy neat and clean location. Good portions and great prices. A must try if you're in town and in the mood for chicken.

Chicken Caesar salad. Removed cold chicken.

Excellent marketing and branding attracts customers to this restaurant. I have no idea how this place is rated so high, perhaps people have no taste buds. Went to the cashier, then told to sit anywhere. The interior is nice. The service is great. I ordered a caesar salad based on the photos posted on here and this was up sold to add chicken to it. I even asked if the chicken is good. When the chicken caesar salad came, it is a huge portion. Not bad for $17. The chicken was cold. Like barely tepid. I have worked at a chicken restaurant and we have ever served chicken salad completely cold. The manager was accommodating and offered to make a new one. I declined as I hate wasting food, but asked if I could remove the chicken off the plate. Caesar salad is pretty decent considering, lots of bacon, nice slices of parmesan, adequate dressing and buttery croutons. Piri piri sauce sucked. Will never return. The chicken smelled so good, so I have no idea what is going on back of house. There are so many better restaurants in Hamilton.

Service was good. The location is fun. The food is only so so. I might give it a second chance next time I'm in town.

Nice Warm Place! On our way to the CCMAs

The server Paul was nice! The place is clean, nice atmosphere! Food was good! Didn't taste the "charred" as much as we would have liked to! Wish they had a egg free hot sauce! I Would share a fresh cut fry instead of order 2! It's A huge Portion! Sandwiches were chicken charred and beef brisket! It's a Nice Place To be on james street!

I'm Canadian and I love my poutines! After hearing word the labanquise is one of the best poutines in Montreal and trying it, I kinda found a new favourite. Charred has the best poutines I ever had. Mixing piri piri and poutine with rotisserie chicken is unbelievable! How could something be this good! I'm so glad I found this place thanks to yelp. They have all your rotisserie chicken needs with great local craft beers on tap. I suggest you share the large poutines because of be super impressed if you can finish that on your own. The large is massive!!!!

Chicken noodle soup ($6), House Salad with homemade balsamic dressing ($7), quarter leg with a side of fresh cut fries ($13)

My boyfriend and i was looking for a place for lunch and stumbled across Charred Chicken! We didn't know what to expect but it turned out amazing! The quantity of food you get for the price is so reasonable! The chicken noodle soup was light, the noodles felt homemade and the chicken breast was filling. The house salad was delicious as it was evenly tossed with the house balsamic dressing. Not to mention, the portion was great for sharing! Lastly, my bf got the quarter leg to try and it was perfectly charred. Once again the side fries were plentiful and perfectly crispy. It was so good, we had to get dessert! We tried the strawberry rubarb pie and it was sweet and tart! Overall an amazing experience and worth every penny! We'll be back!

Omg I finally got to try out Charred Chicken. Cut to the chase. Best poutine I ever had. No lie. You have the option of spicy poutine or normal. You can add on some chicken to make it a meal for an extra $6. Mocktails are around $3. Our meals came out lightning fast. I couldnt believe how fast it came! Not even 3 minutes. Food came out piping hot. Service was quick. Atmosphere was live. Only negative is that they close at 9pm and the location is a bit off of the downtown core. You won me over. Coming back for the poutine again! 5 stars *****

Note: If you cannot deal with heat, this probably isn't the best place to dine in. It was quite hot in the dining room, so they need to turn up their AC or get some fans in there! Food - 4/5 Service - 3/5 When I first arrived, half the tables were unoccupied in this small restaurant, so I assumed that we were to be seated right away, but I was wrong. Apparently, on a Saturday for dinner, they had a 'list'. When I asked how many groups were ahead of me, there was only 1 name on that list. In any event, we were told to come back in 30mins. No problem. There were maybe 6-7 tables in total, most sat 2ppl. So this place is quite small. Walked around the area and came back more than 30mins later to find that there were at least 2 empty tables. Never got a call, so perhaps they were too busy/I arrived just before they were going to call. Whatever the case may be, they have to work on a better method of seating people or they may lose paying customers. Food arrived in a relatively short time. If you're in a group of 3-4 people, the whole chicken w/ 3 sides for $30 is probably the best value. If you're doing a takeout, the whole chicken is only $15, so that's even better than dining in! Chicken was extremely tender, sides (fries, potatoes, & salad) were really good. Initially, soon after our food came, the server sorta came often then slowed his roll. He was polite and brought all 3 sauces of different spice levels so that we can try them all. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, but the atmosphere could've been improved. Better circulation would be a good start, especially on a hot day.

Casual environment with nice server. However, the food did take some time to come out and the chicken sauce was unflavourful.

We came in after a hike for some food. it was pretty late and we figured we could order lunch, but were told we cannot. We have to order from the brunch menu. No biggies! We like brunch. But this is not somewhere you want to be for that. She starts off telling us to read the brunch menu. 5-10 minutes later comes back to let us know that there's no corn ham, corn beef, and a few other items... Basically, everything we wanted to order was not available. They should have just pointed out what WAS available. We proceeded to order one big brunch special that comes as a shared platter of your choice of items. We got mac and cheese (which was not good at all. Very powdery and I really prefer a smooth cheesey type), beans, potatoes, jerk chicken, and some type of meat that looked like bbq pork. We also ordered the eggs benedicts. I would highly recommend you do not order the eggs bennies here. The eggs were hard boiled... there was not even a hint of the egg being runny. It was entirely over cooked... all of our eggs were completely hard. The corn bread plus the dry yolk made it very dry and hard to swallow. We had to order extra hot sauces and bbq sauces (which actually were quite good). The Jerk chicken was alright. Their bbq pork was great. The potatoes were so salty, none of us could eat them. We downed about 4 bottles of water. I would not return. The prices were wayy too high considering we had 4-5 options we could actually order, and we only enjoyed 1 aspect of the dishes we were served. Staff here though, are great. Really nice people! I would highly recommend that they clean up the floor. It's so slippery a lot of people were sliding around trying to get to the washroom. and then the washroom was really slippery. I'm sure dinner is popular here, but if they do want to open for brunch/breakfast, they should put some efforts into making something they're good at and incorporating that into their menus
