Been a few times over the years but only for a pit stop cocktail. Recently sat on patio for lunch overlooking the River Grande and was quite impressed. Staff and service has always been friendly and helpful. Menu has good variety and the food is competently prepared. Fish tacos were excellent and enjoyed by all. Even a simple golden beat salad with grilled chicken was very enjoyable. Felt like local fresh ingredients all around. Cocktails are very good and they have a modest mocktail selection as well. If you're spending any time in Paris, it's worthwhile to check this one out. read more

My partner and I picked this place, as we read that it was a popular place for dinner with spectacular views. Before arriving in Paris, we made the reservation for dinner. We came here on Monday evening and we were excited to eat! We were greeted by a friendly staff at the front desk, who directed us to go up the stairs, where there will be patio seating areas. From there, another staff member confirmed our reservation and directed us to a seat. Our waitress welcomed us and brought the menu, then she left to get some cold water for us. My partner picked half pound of chicken wings with fries, and I chose Three Sisters Bowl. Both of us enjoyed our meal, our orders came out hot and fresh. The only downside was the portion size- we both felt that it was small in comparison to the price. During our meal, our waitress came by to check-in on us to make sure that we were enjoying our meal and had everything that we needed. The views were beautiful as we have read! This place gets very busy, so we would recommend that you make a reservation in advance! read more

Ordered the large sized Grilled Peach and Prosciutto salad and the Ultimate Baked Chicken Parm Mac 'N' Cheese along with a Diet Pepsi and Mills Organic Wheat Beer. The salad was very small and was rather boring. Still felt hungry after having it but didn't want to order anything else. The Baked chicken parm was food sized but they used packaged shredded cheese was very disappointing but the chicken was good. Pasta was pretty boring also because it looked like a home cooked meal and not restaurant quality. It was an okay sizw meal though. Service was rather slow and the server was not exceptional. The restaurant was not very busy and we still had to wait about fifteen minutes until we were seated. Didn't feel very welcomed. The ambiance was pretty good especially the patio area though. Music wasn't loud or overbearing and there were a couple of tvs by the bar that didnt have any sound coming out. The bar looked good and there was not a designated bartender maybe because it was lunchtime. The restroom was clean and odorless which is a plus. read more

The seafood pasta dish was perfect, our waitress was very informative and kind, the ambience was amazing with a view of the grand river and falls! Paris on is definitely a hidden gem! I would definitely recommend it! read more

Gord and I celebrated my birthday Thursday evening on the rooftop patio of Stillwaters Plate & Pour. Fabulous view! We started with a rosé sangria and shared a bottle of bubbly. I had the Steakhouse Peppercorn striploin (8 oz of Canadian AAA reserve steak topped with a creamy peppercorn sauce served with garlic mashed potatoes). Gord had a Charcuterie and Local Cheese Plate (chef's choice of cured meats, local cheeses and accoutrements). Both were good. Because it was my birthday and our anniversary, we got free desserts ... I had chocolate cake and Gord had Crème Brûlée. Madison was friendly and took good care of us. Thanks, Madison! read more

This place has a prime spot overlooking the river. It's not really a ripoff as you'd imagine, though. Steak crunch wrap was decent. Short Rib Chili was pretty good though on the sweet side. Crab cakes tasted decent but were mostly filler: they were lentil cakes with crab. read more

Really cool ambience right by the river. Cool little downtown area with some places you can walk by . Food is solid and service was great.

Love the scenic views from this roof top! Can't get any better than this! I highly recommend you make reservations. The wait was 1 hour 45 min for the patio around 1 pm on a Thursday for a table for two for lunch. But if you don't mind sitting in the dining room... the wait was half the time. Have to say ... I didn't appreciate the attitude of the hostesses here! Guess when they are so busy ... servicing guests isn't their number one priority. We are not allowed to wait in the restaurant for a table ... they will text us. After waiting one hour and 30 min, I went in 15 minutes early just to check see how much longer and a chance for my table to come up early. They said it's not ready that I had to leave and they will text me. I waited more than half an hour later. Went back to check .. they said they text me 3 times and called me about my table. BUT I never got any messages or a call. Didn't get much of an apology or reaction after waiting for a table for two. However, I was very surprised I had to wait so long when there were quite a few tables available on the patio. However, the server was very lovely. The food was delicious. I would definitely order the Striploin Pasta in a Champagne Mustard Sauce $25.95. Very large portion and reasonably priced. The Messy Pickerel Sammy with apple coleslaw was tasty! The lightly battered fish tasted very fresh and was a generous portion for $17.95 I substituted the side for Ceasar Salad. Overall the food and views were great! read more

This place has an amazing location by Grand River so if you can snag a seat outside then awesome! I had lunch here with my friends for a day trip to town. The staff was very friendly and a good social distancing between the tables. We were quite hungry so we ordered BBQ Buffalo Chicken Ranch Flatbread, Butter Blackened Chicago Steak Platter, and Helloumi Cheese Fries to share. My favourite was the BBQ Buffalo Chicken Ranch Flatbread. You can really taste the ranch and buffalo blended together which made it super yummy. I was disappointed with the steak for the platter because we ordered it medium rare but it was cooked to almost medium well done. The Helloumi Cheese Fries were a bit salty but it was actually quite good for my palette. Good experience and I think one of the most decent places to it in town. read more

Great service, food was delivered exceptionally fast. Both the butternut squash pasta and Chicken Alfredo were good and large portions. The Alfredo was more on the bland side for our taste and not as warm as we would have liked it. Great place, we will be back and try another entry read more

Stillwaters Plate and Pour - Garlic Parmesan Grilled Chicken Alfredo with Forest Mushroom Alfredo (what's left of the large portion received) - American Near Me - Paris, Ontario

Wish you guys made the food fresh in house instead of frozen food. Turkey burger was burnt, bruschetta bread not toasted enough with enough balsamic vinaigrette. Lastly your staff in the kitchen were complaining loudly that they don't like making charcuterie board which isn't very professional and makes customers feel like ordering food is an inconvenience to the staff. I don't think I'll be back and hope this feedback is used to positively enhance the experience for other customers. read more

Came here for brunch while I was in Paris and this is a super cute place. We were seated on the patio by the water so it had a nice view and great breeze! There were a variety of menu items to choose from but I ultimately went with the wrap. The portion sizes was pretty big! The wrap was decent, the only thing was some of the chicken tasted a bit burnt but it was still okay. Their fries are seasoned which was amazing! Would definitely come by again if I'm in Paris again! read more

Without a doubt the single best setting for rooftop dining for miles. View of the river is phenomenal and rooftop patio makes for a great atmosphere. Menu is nothing to write home about, but the view makes up for it. read more

Ok I wanted to badly to like this place but I have never had a more disappointing experience. We go the recommended dishes from their "specialties" but it was the safest salad I have ever seen and the most flavourless dishes I have ever tasted. It as if the cook used no salt or flavour at all! Don't know how this place is so busy but I would never go back! Oh and also our food took over an hour to get to us! read more

We came here on a nice summer day for lunch and enjoyed the view and food. We ordered the Caesar salad, Charcuterie, Perch, Spicy pasta, and the Burger. Really enjoyed the salad and the spicy pasta they were tasty, the perch was pretty decent as was the burger, the charcuterie was just okay. The cheese were good, the meats were fine, the accompaniments were a bit boring and didn't taste great together. Probably not their best fish. Service was good and consistent. read more

Come here for a drink (or two) on the rooftop patio & for the amazing view of the river ! We got the Halloumi Cheese Fries which were not bad. I always hate when restaurants use the same oil for fish dishes as vegetarian dishes. I'm not even vegetarian, I just don't like the scent of fish and am never keen to eat it. I forget what my partner got, maybe the shrimp & again they weren't bad. Serviceable food but come for the views and a couple of drinks on the rooftop bar. :) read more

Although we were not very hungry due to having had a late lunch, we decided to try this place in order to enjoy the view from their rooftop patio. It is a beautiful view; probably unrivalled by nearby restaurants. The menu boasts several steak and seafood options, and since we only had starters and drinks it's not fair to judge the food quality based on this visit. However, while we did enjoy our bruschetta, pizza, French fries and chilli; the bruschetta was cold and it took 40 minutes plus for our food (and it wasn't that busy). A somewhat inexperienced crew on the patio. They were all very nice, but they could probably charge more for the food/ rake in more revenue if they had people more familiar with the menu. We didn't hear about specials, recommendations, etc. "Ready to order?" With that said, initially I was very happy to see how inexpensive the food was when I opened the menu. But after hearing from the waitress I thought: 'nah, the prices here are probably fair.' I'll visit again before the fall and I will order a steak so I can give a more fair review. But, probably still a 3. read more

Very cute patio. But food did not taste good at all. Costed over $100 for two people , which would be fine if the food was good. We started with the cheese dip, and the entire top layer was one piece of hard cheese, and the chips were dripping oil. The bottom of the plate had a sea of oil, it made me feel sick; but it was probably the best thing we had that evening. I got the chicken Alfredo .. probably a 1/5. I don't know how you could mess up cream and pasta but alas. It was unpalatable without a bunch of salt and pepper the chicken had char marks and only tasted like charcoal. Partner got the messy pickerel sandwich , had a slab of American cheese on it. He didn't mind it but he mentioned he would not order it again. Overall you can't ask to be seated near the main attraction so there is no guarantee you'll get a view of the River. Even if a table is free at a more optimal spot where you can see the water, they will not allow you to move. So if you're going for the view , don't go you may not get one, and if you're going for the food, I definitely would opt to go somewhere else. Two stars because the staff were nice read more

This is a nice spot for dinner. Pretty view, especially if you sit outside. The food is good, but not out of this world. I got the turkey burger with sweet potato fries. The burger had a sweet chutney on top which was unexpectedly not bad. It came with a side of some kind of sauce which was pretty yummy. The burger was very moist. But the bun was a little too soft for my liking but it was still good. Fries were good but not great. The food tasted fresh and didn't leave you feeling super full after eating. The service wasn't bad. The waiters were friendly. My waiter was polite and patient, but didn't check on me often. Nevertheless, if you're in Pairs this place is with worth a visit. read more

Prime rib and chuck burger was at best a round obviously frozen burger that I described to friends with us, as second best to a McDonalds burger. If it weren't for the delicious bruschetta, this place deserves 0 stars. We drove 45 minutes out of town for our reservation, only to arrive and be told that "no good tables are left" so we got a cold, metal high top outside at 7:45 pm. After requesting a new table, we were ushered to the lounge/bar. Not a single server came to our table for 20-30 minutes. When they finally did, we ordered Sangrias, both which only contained chopped lemons and limes (???) and tasted like water. We ordered our appetizer and entrees, and received the entree 30 minutes later. After another 20 minutes, we were told that they had "just run out of" my entree pasta. Horrible experience; no exaggeration. At least there was alcohol in my drink. read more

Waited about an hour for patio view and it didn't disappoint. This is one of the best views of anywhere in Canada for dinner. I got the clams, shrimp and steak combo and the steak was way overdone and too salty. Scallops and shrimp were good though. Girlfriend has the chicken club and it's one of the best I ever tasted. Also got the artichoke dip and that huge and very delicious. Bruschetta was also massive and pretty good. You can get full on appetizers before you get to your mains here. read more

Best restaurant view in Paris! The food is a bit pricey for what it is, and I've never been blown away, but I'd recommend this place over most other dining in Paris. The extra price pays for the gorgeous view! Dine while the sun sets so you get to see the gorgeous river, then the dam lit up just north of the restaurant at night. read more

Service was crap. No quality check on appetizers or entrées. Food was terrible. Steak was overcooked and served cold. Cutlery was dirty. Glasses had lipstick and other gross stains. Go eat at the pubs, this place is overrated. 1 star for the view of the water. Otherwise, I'd give Zero. read more

This is the first time I've ever had to write a bad review for a place but man, I really need to talk about this restaurant. Last night I ordered a steak medium rare w/ perch. The steak was one of the saddest most charred pieces of meat I've ever seen. There was no juices coming out of the steak when I cut into it and the meat was mainly grey inside. It was so incredibly burnt on the outside that that was essentially all that could be tasted. I've had better cooked steaks from restaurants like Kelseys. The Perch was decent, but the the breading was not terribly crispy and honestly kind of soggy. And then there was an overwhelming saltiness to almost everything I was served. The fries were over salted, I couldn't tell if it was the charred flavour or not but it almost seemed like the steak had been over salted! This was a common complaint from everyone I was dining with regarding their meals as well. I expected so much better from a restaurant that prominently places a photo of the chef/owner on their menu bragging that he was in a season of Top Chef Canada. When you put your face to your menu like that you should truly take some pride in the food you serve at your restaurant. Instead, what I was served was one of the most singularly disappointing meals I've ever eaten in my life. All my complaints are really for the kitchen, I have nothing negative to say about their serving staff who were excellent and attentive. And the interior of the restaurant is very nice and well put together, great atmosphere. But man, that kitchen really needs to get their act together, that was an extremely bad meal. One I won't forget for quite some time. read more

We went for dinner on the rooftop on a Sunday evening. We made reservations and didn't have to wait. The patio is up quite a few stairs, but there's an elevator. If mobility is truly an issue, there's two flights up to the roof top patio with no elevator. The view is gorgeous. The tables were weird sticky. I thought it may have been the sanitizer, but reading the other reviews this is a theme. The food was a bit confused . Our app was the charcuterie board. Just one cheese (Brie) and some shredded Parmesan. Onion jam, arugula, prosciutto, salami and bread. Was hoping to have a wider variety of cheeses. The bread was just ok. My meal was the spicy chipotle pasta. It wasn't spicy. The tomato sauce it came with was ok. It was advertised as being served with chicken and sausage and coconut shrimp. I got one piece of chicken, two slices of sausage. It tasted like it wanted to be a jambalaya or creole spiced, but only made it halfway. The shrimp was not a good combo with it as it was way too sweet to be paired with something spicy and smoky. I couldn't go back and forth with the pasta and shrimp, so ended up eating the shrimp first, and then the pasta. My MiL got the mussels, which she loved. They seemed well prepared. My hubby got the grilled strip loin pasta which he said was creamy and kinda bland. The steak was cooked ok though. My son had the kids perch and chips, and this was cooked very very well. I ended up nibbling on his meal. All in all, wonderful location and environment. But a lot of things are a little off. Cleanliness, service, details in the meal. Can't beat the view though. read more

Lovely sit-down restaurant on the Grand River, the view is beautiful! The menu ranges from beautifully cooked steaks to fresh, locally grown salads to the mouthwatering Sourdough Ranch Chicken Club that I had my first visit. I think my favourite thing about the dishes here are the huge side of fries seasoned with cyan pepper, parsley and salt, so filling! The service was quick and friendly, the afternoon that I went there was a wait to sit out on the balcony, but they could take us right away for indoor seating. I loved the look of the place, it felt professional and clean, and I especially enjoyed the infrastructure of the building as it reminded me of something from Paris, France. I would definitely recommend taking time to visit this cute find on the Paris strip, in my opinion it's a must-see if you're in the area. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the prices as I felt that they were a bit too steep, but because all the prices are posted online it was no surprise. I suggest looking over the online menu if you have certain nutritional needs, as the try their best to cater to their customers. I hope you enjoy your meal at this lovely restaurant! read more

Stillwaters Plate and Pour - Our lovely lunch at StillWaters! - American Near Me - Paris, Ontario

Good food, poor service. They only take reservations on Sundays, so we arrived without one. We wanted a table for 4 on one of the outdoor patios. We were told there was a 45 minute wait. When I commented that there were several empty tables both inside and outside, the snappy hostess told me they needed to be bussed (they were clean and freshly set). We waited the 45 minutes because we'd driven almost an hour to specifically eat there and figured it would be worth it. When we were finally seated, there were only 2 other tables in use, the rest were empty. They could have seated us much earlier. This waitlist thing is clearly a ploy to look more popular than they are. My dad has diabetes, and we asked the waitress for a bread roll for him because he was feeling a little low and needed just a small piece of bread. Because of the long wait for the table, he needed to eat something soon and the food was supposedly a long wait. She rudely told us they don't do complimentary bread baskets and that we had to wait for our appetizers, which we had just ordered 2 minutes earlier and had been told there was a longer wait on the food. I went and asked another staff member who didn't seem to understand the request, but promptly brought a piece of bread to the table with a puzzled look on her face. The food was good.... 8/10. The wait was long considering the restaurant was almost empty, but we were happy with our meals. This restaurant really needs to consider who they hire. Snooty staff and fake waitlists are totally inappropriate and take away from the beautiful views, great location and good food. read more

I am being perhaps a bit generous with the 2-star. The service was average. The food was poor. We ordered two burgers and both the burgers and buns was very dry. Burgers were burnt. Kids food was pretty much all fries with a bit of chicken. read more

My first encounter with Stillwaters was purely accidental. I was in Paris with my husband and we were thinking about having dinner somewhere. Stillwaters was right next to us and we went in. It's a great location, right on the Grand River, the atmosphere is warm and comfortable, not too loud, and not a mausoleum. Our server, a very funky woman with ponytails, was enthusiastic, upbeat, knowledgeable, and knew how to talk about the food offered. It isn't often you find a server who knows about everything on the menu, and has tried it. Be prepared for a lot of food. Exceptionally good food. Food that has been prepared with consideration, with a fine palette, and a creative touch. Everything on the menu is good. Even the wine selection, though small, is tastefully selected, and paired very well with the menu. Always a good time at Stillwaters! read more

Nice setting on the river, but.... The windows of this view restaurant were filthy. They need to be cleaned and kept clean. The food was ok, but not really that good. I had rotisserie chicken and fries. Swiss Chalet does it better. The other meals were so-so. The staff were friendly and efficient. I don't know who can spoil french fries, but they did. Beautiful view over the porch tho.

We were excited to try Stillwaters and with it being right on the Grand River the views are amazing..... but that's all the good this place has to offer. We Ordered the Truffle Arancini and they were frozen solid in the middle. Our waitress acted surprised but asked if they were cold before we said anything. I'm not sure why she would assume something that came out of a deep fryer would be cold. I also ordered the chicken club. The bun was stale and the chicken dry and over cooked. The kitchen also forgot the sauce which only made an already dry sandwich that much worse. I think Stillwaters attitude must be our views are great so our food can be terrible. I would not recommend this place. read more
