My first time at Camilla's, clearly a popular spot on a Saturday night. The place is perfect for large groups, and our party of 7 fit comfortably at a long table with ample elbow room. Service was great. And the food was quite good. My Baja shrimp tacos were some of the most delicious tacos I've had in a long time. The sauce was yummy, and I ate every bite. (I asked for them to hold the rice and beans. I won't eat them, do don't serve them to me.) Hubby's Chile Colorado was a hearty serving and declared pretty good. Rice and beans were typical. Looking at the other dishes served, they were all massive. It's the typical American restaurant thing, so much food! At our table, there was enough food left on plates to serve at least three more people. Anyway, it was delicious. And a great atmosphere. Family friendly, too. read more

First time here, and it was amazing! My family came after a day at six flags and we were starving. Although the restaurant was busy, it felt like we ordered our food, blinked and it hit the table. Phenomenal service, absolute best carne asada I've ever eaten and a really big portion at that. The refried beans aren't the standard brown soup you get at most places, these taste like the beans I've eaten in Mexico, definitely made with love the right way. 100/100 no complaints. All around disappointing. Decided to visit after multiple recommendations from local people, chips at the beginning are awful. Very thick and low quality. Salsa was very watery, not much flavor. Ordered a queso dip at the same time as our drinks, and didn't receive the dip until we got our food (25 minutes). Would definitely understand if our server was busy but she walked passed us multiple times without a word or checking on us. Food was very bland, the "Mexican" rice had no flavor other than chicken broth. Enchilada sauce is most definitely from a can and tastes like Chef boyardee pasta sauce. I've never not finished my food at a Mexican restaurant and this time I didn't even come close. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

This place proudly tells you it's Tex-Mex! In addition to the usual tacos, burritos and enchiladas it makes an interesting selection of specials. It uses authentic ingredients in food preparation such as Nopales, a cactus product. I arrived at 5:15pm and was promptly seated in a booth. My date ordered a Margarita and I got a glass of Chardonnay. It took us a bit of time to understand the specials on the menu. My date got advice from the waiter who recommended "La Jarocha". He took my order for Carne Adobada with Nopales. The La Jarocha was served piping hot table side in a portion large enough for 2 or 3 meals! It was well seasoned and the rice had a creamy texture. It has 3 proteins in it, shrimp, beef and chicken. Likewise the Carne Adobada with Nopales arrived hot and tangy over rice. This Beef dish is served in a slightly tangy sauce that I really enjoyed. The price for this quality of food is very reasonable. The chips and salsa were very good too. This restaurant is not going for ambiance but the food and drink earns it 4 full stars. read more

By the time she came back we finished our first drinks and ordered another. Then continued to wait 15 minutes to get those second drinks and another 15 to order our food. First server didn't understand when I said 2 when she asked me how many. Then said she had to check to see if there was a table. Several were open. Shouldn't have been that hard. She passed us off to a male server who asked, again, how many. Two. Slow service despite it not beong very crowded. Ordered a cheese enchilada. It was small and bland. Chips were not great. We were never offered refills, and when I asked to order some fried ice cream, our server said they had none. No desserts at all. Not sure if they were just being lazy or decided that, as a larger woman, I didn't desserve anything sweet. And then there's the dollar surcharge to pay with a credit or debit card. Very attractive restaurant, friendly help. Really good service and the food is outstanding. Only downside for old crabby people like me is it is deafening inside. We were there on a Thursday night and it was hard to converse. To top it off, there was a family there with what looked like maybe a 4 year old cute little girl and one maybe 9-10. The whole time we (and they) were there, the older girl was teasing, tickling and stirring up the young one, and she screamed, hollered and was disturbing the whole place. Its not the restaurant's fault, but maybe a word with the parents would have made everyone's dinner go smoother. All hard surfaces and margaritas o'plenty is going to make anyplace sound like a boiler factory. Wish I knew when the quieter evenings or times were. Really like the place. read more

So sorry but originally I am from Missouri but have been a Californian for many decades. Visiting family in Eureka we had a large family gathering here and found the place packed under COVID conditions. No problem. The frozen margaritas were good and we ordered a whole bunch of them. The Mole Poblano was recommended by a family member who lives locally so I ordered it. The cheeps were plentiful but I found the salsa rather bland, no cilantro noted. Heat wasn't there! The Queso dip was ordered but with the hamburger or chorizo included, it tasted weird like cheesy SOS? No mexican flavored influence at all. The Mole Poblano came promptly and boy was I disappointed! The very small amount of frijoles refritos on the plate were actually ice cold? The chicken Poblano mole sauce was boiling hot and I had to mix the hot mole with the cold beans to make them palatable. That was weird. Noted a lack of Cotija or queso fresco cheese. I am quite fond of having cheese melted on my rice and beans. Off course the bean would have to be hot. The rice? Not Mexican, not Spanish, not Tex Mex? It was basically white rice, not toasted and was actually flavorless! At least it wasn't starchy. I wondered if I was having taste symptoms of the Wuhan Flu? I wasn't! I didn't complain (De gustibus non est disputandum) as the servers were busy and did keep the drinks, the carafes of salsa and cheeps flowing. The highlight was that someone tried to order grilled Serrano chili's but they didn't have them. They brought out nice sized fire roasted Jalapeños instead. They were great, spicy and hot. The whole roasted jalapeños with pith and seeds saved my meal. I suppose my expectations were set a bit high hearing that Camellia's was a family owned authentic Tex Mex restaurant. We're happy to have Camila's in town! We have been in twice now and have been satisfied with the food and service there. The Speedy Gonzalez is my favorite lunch special: a taco and enchilada and choice of rice or beans for $5.50. The salsa is SO good - and has a bit of spice. I hear that you can ask for a milder salsa if you want, but I love the one they automatically bring to the table. My only hope is that the margaritas get a little stronger. read more

Pretty good Mexican food for the area! If I was actually in the city I would probably give this place three stars because nothing blew me away, but it was still good. What I ordered: we started off with the free chips and salsa and ordered guacamole. The salsa was good but the chips tasted kind of bland. The guacamole was good just not the best I've ever had. For my entree I got shrimp soup. The half size was a huge portion! I couldn't even finish it. My dad got the fish tacos and he liked them! They came with a side of rice. A few months ago, we dined inside and failed to get our guacamole. No big deal, we asked for it to be removed from the check when I paid at the register. It took a long time to receive our check, so I approached the register to pay. All good, they were a little busy. While we were at the register, the cashier grabbed the server and verified that the guacamole was forgotten, and he acknowledged that he had forgotten it. No worries, things happen. He muttered something under his breath on our way out the door. Maybe it was about something else, who knows, sounded insulting but I don't speak fluent Spanish. Nonetheless, it left a sour taste and we hadn't been back until today. I'll give benefit of doubt, but it felt directed to me, primarily because it was said in my direction as I was exiting. Today, my family decides on Mexican for dinner, so I sit at the bar for a beer and order takeout, trying this well known establishment again after many months. I struggled a bit confirming the order, had to be asked a couple times for clarity, no problem, maybe my fault for some confusion. After placing my order, I overhear the same server in the back of house audibly say "I hate this F'ing guy," to a coworker as he begins bagging my food. Thinking on it, there was no portion of the conversation that would've justified these words. Unprofessional, and likely directed at me given the timing and me being the only one at the bar waiting for food. Even if not directed at me, why would you say this where customers can hear you? It was even more obvious as he passed me, walking toward the register with my bag with the most pompous look you can imagine, forcing me to immediately make my way toward the register. I wasn't even done with my beer. What did I do to make you so angry? I truly hope to receive a response and understand. Was I rude? I simply ordered food to go. Why is this a problem? I should've cancelled the order immediately, acknowledged what I heard with the manager, paid for the beer and walked out. My daughter wanted tacos. We will NEVER be back. We eat Mexican at least once every couple of weeks, but not anymore. I truly hope your experience is better. Take care. read more

The service was the worst I have ever had. The food took almost an hour once we ordered. Other customers were getting their food long after we ordered. The appetizers were not ready by the time our regular order came out. They told us that they make them special. We cancelled our appetizers. I brought this to the Managers attention.
