Burrito Mayan
Leslie H.

Since Camila's in Eureka is our go-to Mexican restaurant, I expected the same excellent food at the new Pacific location, and I was not disappointed. There are so many menu options that I love, depending on my mood. On this visit, I decided on the Burrito Mayan, which has three different meats in it. So good! The space is beautiful. It's in an old brick movie theater, and it's just a pleasant atmosphere.

The inside of this historic building is well done. The exposed wood in the ceiling is interesting. Glad they put effort into rehabbing the space. Service was good and the food was okay as well. The pork in my burrito was excellent. My wife and my daughter had nachos and both enjoyed them. There was something slightly off putting to me, though, with the taste of the cheese.

Margarita flight - Pineapple, Hibiscus, Watermelon and Guava

We have been loyal customers at the Eureka location for years, and have to say that the Pacific location offers an amazing ambiance as well as a few different menu options that we loved! The cheese dip and entrees were per usual excellent, and the margaritas were some of the best we've had. Although I think it's not on the menu yet, we were treated to a flight of margs which included watermelon, guava, hibiscus and pineapple. Let's just say that they were all refreshing; not too sour and not too sweet. The pineapple is my new favorite, while the hibiscus was a close second.

Cinco estrellas. What can I say... it was my first time at Camila's and it was the best Mexican food I've had in my life. The owner, Alex, stopped by our table to say hi and his wife greeted us at the entrance - they were both so friendly and welcoming despite the restaurant being absolutely hectic on this friday night. We started with chips and salsa - a standard for mexican restaurants but dios mío these were stand-out in comparison to other places in town (*cough* El Agave *cough*) warm and flaky with the perfect crunch, and the fresh salsa was just the cherry on top. Tasty with a slight kick, and in your personal cup - I love a socially distanced salsa. I haven't even mentioned the Margarita Tower, which was 120 oz of the most delicious (and POTENT) margarita, with dehydrated strawberries plus a sugar+salt rimmed glass to top it all off. That was enough to fill SIXTEEN glasses of that stuff. And for the price? Unreal. Unfortunately the water is near undrinkable so all I had for hydration was strawberry lime margarita - I had six cups myself and it was so good I had to taste it twice! Jajaja This is getting long so let me sum up the rest. Primero, GET THE QUESO FUNDIDO. A heap of chorizo and the meltiest sea of cheese. Segundo, I had the Molcajete, which was bursting with flavor and had not one, not two, but FIVE slabs of chicken and steak seasoned to perfection and bordered by a wall of sauteed green peppers which were just to die for. Tercero, everyone in my group scarfed down their meals and praised the quality of the food and generous portion sizes given the very affordable prices. Finalmente, you NEED to come here. They have a commitment to quality and attention to detail that you just can't find anywhere else. The interior is spacious and cozy, our waitress was attentive and made adjustments for my shellfish allergy, and the owner is an absolute hoot. I wish the best to this place and the people giving it life, please come here and support this establishment.

Our lunch...

My wife and I stopped in for lunch at Camila's Tex-Mex Restaurant in downtown Pacific, MO My wife likes queso and chips for a meal with a side of Mexican rice. This rice is different not orange but very flavorful. I had a # 6 lunch. This is a large burrito, filled with beef covered with a creamy queso sauce. It's served with a side of rice mixed with corn and refried beans which are staples of most Mexican cuisine. A basket of tortilla chips comes early on and comes with a flask of salsa and two small bowls. It was a satisfying and flavorful meal. We both enjoyed it. We will be back! We especially liked the clean just renovated building with tasteful decorations. Worth a visit.

There is a charming wine bar next door to Camila's for an after dinner repartee. Winehouse 66.

I am happy to report that the bad experience I had last time appears to have been a fluke. I returned to Camila's with an open mind and everything they put on the table was amazing. The cold beer and above par fare I expected was back on the menu. The restaurant makes its home in the old Royal Theatre, a single screen movie house until the 1990s. Camila's has done a great job of preserving some of the original lights fixtures, stained glass, and other theater-related antiquities. I saw Star Wars in the same building as a wide-eyed 9-year-old lad, back in 1977.

This looks like a really good place but our experience was terrible. I ordered unsweet tea and noticed no sweetener was on the table. By the time the waiter returned, I had drank half the glass, and I don't like unsweet tea. My wife ordered fajitas and I had a pick three plate. Her beans, rice, and lettuce etc plate arrived with my meal. Attached below are photos of our plates when her fajita plate finally arrived. My wife is Ukrainian and never eats refried beans, but she finished them off before the sizzling plate even arrived. We weren't starving either as we had queso and the shrimp soup. Needless to say we had to box the fajitas since we were both full. No idea whose fault it was, but the waiter did say never to put sweetener on the table unless requested.

Bad service and mid food. This restaurant started off good but it's going down hill. They can do better.
