We tried Azteca Mexican Restaurant in Fenton, Missouri for the first time. My hopes were low because I don't really tout Fenton as an area with good Mexican Food - but we were starving so we decided to give it a shot. The atmosphere is pretty on-point for a mid-range Missouri Mexican joint - slightly run down but kept up to an extent. We sat in a booth and were served almost immediately by the same woman who seated us. She took care of us the entire time, she was brief but friendly. The food just wasn't good. It wasn't horrible, but the chips and salsa needed salt, and our entrees were *meh*. My Dad got the Carnitas, which sounded promising, but it was just a dry block of pork with fajita vegetables and tortillas. I just got a Bean Burrito and a Tamale ala carte. Both were fine, but I've had better at Taco Bell for a 1/3rd of the price. I also noticed the bathroom needs cleaned badly, there were gnats swarming the toilet. Overall - Atmosphere/Ambiance - 2.5/5 Service/Attentiveness - 3.75/5 Food and Drinks - 2/5 I wouldn't return but it's not the worst I've had. read more

We have been coming here for years, it was always the fastest Mexican restaurant in the area. The food is solid and the ambiance looks like they have taken down a wall and reconfigured the tables to a more open feel. But we were there last night and I felt horrible for what appreared to be only 1 server, 1 table cleaner and 1 food runner in the entire restaurant. I dont know if they changed owners or what, but our usual servers were not there and it was not the fastest meal...but again the food was solid. Still consistently good food at alright prices. I like the shading in the window to help with the sun, and our server was nice and got us everything we needed. Our booth gave us privacy, the holiday decorations were fun, and I love the color and style of the place. My usual go to is either the choripollo or the salad with shrimp, but this time I went for nachos. My son's favorite is the burritos Azteca. read more

The food was uninspiring. The same Mexican food you can get at every other Mexican restaurant in the restaurant in the US. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't BAD, just same ol', same ol'. I thought the best part was the salsa and chips served before my meal came. The salsa had the perfect amount of heat to it and the chips were tasty and NOT greasy. The service was good. Stopped by for dinner with my family. Large menu with plenty of choices. We ordered several dishes and they were all ok. I got the burrito azteca and it was good but not great. Just an ok taste on food. Chips were warm but salsa was eh. Not much flavor. Service was decent. She was efficient but not attentive. The restaurant was a little run down but looked fairly clean and is large. Good for groups! We had a fairly large group and they easily accommodated us. Of course it was a Monday and we did meet at 5:30 so I'm sure that helped, but we were never rushed or felt like we were a bother, so that made it very nice. I went here with my family a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised. Their service is speedy and very friendly. They also had awesome portion sizes for what you got, my dish had 12 shrimp in it and a ton of rice, avocado, and pico for only 13.99! Everyone I went with really enjoyed their dishes. I like that mine was flavorful but not too hot and I am still shocked by how much shrimp I got. Great for a late dinner stop with lots of parking and a good serving size. read more

I didn't know what to expect as it was my first visit. Was on a lunch date and had to make it quick to be back to work for a meeting in an hour. My lunch date and I both got our plates quickly, and the food was pretty tasty. Said lunch sized on the menu, but I was plenty full from my "Speedy Gonzalez" . Great service, good food! Had a nice dinner here on Saturday and enjoyed everything we ordered. Thin and crispy chips and a mild fresh salsa started things off (we used the ample flavors of habenero and jalepeno hot sauces on the table to spice the salsa up to our liking!). The house lime margarita on the rocks was just ok in taste, , but pretty strong. I ordered their version of fish tacos (Tacos Cancun) and although it was flavorful, the fish was fried in tiny cubes and very salty. There was a ton of lettuce, some pico, but not much fish. The meal had three tacos, rice and beans and it was very filling. My daughters meal was called The Azteca Platter, which was a huge assortment of taco, enchilada, a tostada and burrito, rice, beans, salad with her choice, the ground beef as the meat. That beef was delicious, velvety in texture with nice seasoning. The food was a great value and our waiter was attentive and cool. We will return! read more

Unfortunately I have to rescind previous high marks as tonight's experience was horrendous. We were told they don't offer the chili relleno that's actually all over the menu, so what we went there for was evidently not even on their menu. Ever. (According to the waitress) so we had to select something else. Waitress got order entirely wrong, brought only one plate of food and an empty plate. She then ran away to hide while part of our table had food and the rest did not. We ended up leaving without eating. Will not return. read more

Dined "in" but outside on one of their patio tables, for the 1st time since before COVID-19 closures. We had a lady who seemed like she was new/ in training. I wish I was fluent in Spanish so I could have explained what we wanted. She had trouble with customizations to our orders -- for the Alambre (House specialties) she had to bring out a guy who she called her teacher, to help her understand. She got that one, but did not keep the cheese sauce separate/ not smothering my Arroz con Pollo as requested. I still ate it, but would have like the dish better if I could have controlled the cheese. For this reason I think online ordering is best if you like to customize your order like we do. The large smashed (flattened) boneless chicken breast on the Arroz con Pollo was a bit difficult to cut with the butter knife, but I managed.
