Last Sunday grabbed lunch here with a friend. Parking is behind the restaurant, so it's a little deceiving on seeing the place is open. Don't be dissuaded...stop in. Our wait was not long once we caught the attention of a waiter and let him realize we were a party of our own and not part of the group in front of us. When we left it was getting a little more crowded. Choice of food at the table included the following: Dos Changuitos One chicken mini chimi and one beef mini chimi on top of a queso fundido. CHIPOTLE MANGO TACOS Three flour tortillas grilled chicken tacos with chipotle mango sauce, avocado slices, and cheese. Served with rice and beans. They have Coca-Cola products, which I was happy about. The burn was real - so definitely a place to grab a soda if you like having something other than water with your meal. Staff were friendly. I have visited other El Maguey's. However, this was my first time at this location. Extensive menu. Our service was friendly and very accommodating . Complimentary chips and salsa were great. I tried the Chipotle Mango Tacos with Shrimp. The Chipotle Mango sauce was so delicious. Smokey and sweet with chunks of mango. Loved it. Three tacos comes with rice and beans. One of my favorite local places to visit, always a good time. I've been frequenting this location since they were in another building and we have never been disappointed. The place is always well lit and clean, the seats are pretty comfortable. My go to is always the Potato De Luxe which is very, very good or the Fajita Mix nachos. Both are pictured. The fish tacos are awesome as well and the margaritas that got drank before they got pictured lol. They have a nice variety of Margarita flavors and non Mexican options on the kids menu which is also great! Service is always fast. I've never had to wait more than 5 mins for someone to come over even when they are packed. Love it here! read more

Being a Texan-born and raised Mexican-American, I can't say this Mexican food was great, but it was closer to home than most everything else we've had in Missouri. The rice and beans were devoured by my teens. The flautas were enjoyed. I had the quesadilla Birria tacos (quesabirrias), and they were decent. The service is lacking; and the communication nonexistent, so the bill may be a surprise, but they'll sure justify the up charge/price difference. It's a decent meal. One of our go to spots for weekend work lunch location. They are usually not that busy around 11 on a Saturday. They always offer a fast, friendly service which is a big deal to me! I usually go with their enchilada with chicken and I love it. It's flavorful and delicious. They also make their food quite fast so whenever I am starving, I usually will pick this place over others because I know I'll get my food quick. Aside from weekend work lunch, my colleagues and I have also been here for a happy hour. They don't really have any specials as far as happy hour goes but their drinks were affordable enough. It was fairly busy in the afternoon with some families out dining as well as people out for some drinks after work. We went on a Friday night so I'm guessing that was also a factor. We came into this restaurant so excited cause every elmaguey we have been to has been 10/10! Then we come here and makes me wonder how this restaurant has the name elmaguey can't come this location to any other location! First we ordered and told our waitress what we wanted and waited 5 minutes and our food came and both of our orders were wrong and we let our waitress know... she then sent 3 other employees over to double check what our correct order was and then she finally came back over and was saying she didn't mess anything up which she forsure did. Then after we finished our sour mix filled margaritas we asked for our check and after we got our check our waitress stood at the end of the table and pointed at the tip spot and said sign here and did not leave the table till we both signed our tip... With over 100 reviews on TA I feel the rover all rating here falls short. Other then the fact. The clientele is all white, the menu is extensive and my guisado de puerco was above average. DISGUSTING FOOD AND POOR SERVICE The wait was not worth the pricey,small portioned and gross food. We had a party of three for lunch and our food was cold and VERY salty. My spouse was given shrimp that had gone bad and my father was given a beer that was well over its expiration date. Can it! Really, my experience here can be summed up in three words: from a can. The chips were overlooked and had a burnt flavor, the salsa bland and tasted like a can. I ordered the Beef Chimichanga lunch special and they brought me chicken. I ate it anyway. The cheese enchilada I ordered on the side also had no flavor or substance and was drowning on a plate full of enchilada sauce that tasted like a tin can. The whole experience was underwhelming. Although I arrived at 1:30 after the noon rush, I was seated right away but then ignored for a full 15 min. I was sitting in a booth right outside the kitchen and across from the register, so it wasn't like they forgot I was there. I smiled and tried to get the attention of one of the numerous wait-staff milling about but they walked past and did not stop.
