Last Sunday grabbed lunch here with a friend. Parking is behind the restaurant, so it's a little deceiving on seeing the place is open. Don't be dissuaded...stop in. Our wait was not long once we caught the attention of a waiter and let him realize we were a party of our own and not part of the group in front of us. When we left it was getting a little more crowded. Choice of food at the table included the following: Dos Changuitos One chicken mini chimi and one beef mini chimi on top of a queso fundido. CHIPOTLE MANGO TACOS Three flour tortillas grilled chicken tacos with chipotle mango sauce, avocado slices, and cheese. Served with rice and beans. They have Coca-Cola products, which I was happy about. The burn was real - so definitely a place to grab a soda if you like having something other than water with your meal. Staff were friendly. I have visited other El Maguey's. However, this was my first time at this location. Extensive menu. Our service was friendly and very accommodating . Complimentary chips and salsa were great. I tried the Chipotle Mango Tacos with Shrimp. The Chipotle Mango sauce was so delicious. Smokey and sweet with chunks of mango. Loved it. Three tacos comes with rice and beans. One of my favorite local places to visit, always a good time. I've been frequenting this location since they were in another building and we have never been disappointed. The place is always well lit and clean, the seats are pretty comfortable. My go to is always the Potato De Luxe which is very, very good or the Fajita Mix nachos. Both are pictured. The fish tacos are awesome as well and the margaritas that got drank before they got pictured lol. They have a nice variety of Margarita flavors and non Mexican options on the kids menu which is also great! Service is always fast. I've never had to wait more than 5 mins for someone to come over even when they are packed. Love it here! read more

There was No Bang for the buck here and that's ok if you are getting a layered flavor profile But You Will Not find it here. The Staff was rude and I'll assume they don't think Americans speak Spanish. Being a Texan-born and raised Mexican-American, I can't say this Mexican food was great, but it was closer to home than most everything else we've had in Missouri. The rice and beans were devoured by my teens. The flautas were enjoyed. I had the quesadilla Birria tacos (quesabirrias), and they were decent. The service is lacking; and the communication nonexistent, so the bill may be a surprise, but they'll sure justify the up charge/price difference. It's a decent meal. One of our go to spots for weekend work lunch location. They are usually not that busy around 11 on a Saturday. They always offer a fast, friendly service which is a big deal to me! I usually go with their enchilada with chicken and I love it. It's flavorful and delicious. They also make their food quite fast so whenever I am starving, I usually will pick this place over others because I know I'll get my food quick. Aside from weekend work lunch, my colleagues and I have also been here for a happy hour. They don't really have any specials as far as happy hour goes but their drinks were affordable enough. It was fairly busy in the afternoon with some families out dining as well as people out for some drinks after work. We went on a Friday night so I'm guessing that was also a factor. Overall, this place is pretty nice and the service is fast which is important especially if you have to go back to work or have an appointment you need to keep. read more

Then we come here and makes me wonder how this restaurant has the name elmaguey can't come this location to any other location! First we ordered and told our waitress what we wanted and waited 5 minutes and our food came and both of our orders were wrong and we let our waitress know... she then sent 3 other employees over to double check what our correct order was and then she finally came back over and was saying she didn't mess anything up which she forsure did. The girl who served me was terrible i asked for pollo fiesta and she gave me pollo Feliz and when i told her that's not what i asked for she looked at me like i was stupid, so i got the menu to show her she still keeps saying pollo feliz so i finally say you know what it's cool i don't want anything I'll pay for my drink and the queso. So she say okay and i ask a diff server to get the manager he looks around as if i shouldn't have asked that then proceeds what he's doing i wait like 10 mins then my server comes back and ask me if i want the bill i say yeah and your manager and she pauses as if again I'm wrong to ask... finally the manager comes and i tell her the issue she is not even looking at me she was looking around and then i tell her I'm not even mad just disappointed in the service and i told her i felt her server was just very unempathetic so when I'm done she doesn't apologize or anything she says okay so you just pay for queso and drink like wtf!! They are just so unempathetic and don't care like no one apologized for getting my food wrong or for the service i was provided i NEVER write reviews but was so disgusted i had to for this place!!! I've been here for lunch a dozen or so times over the past several years. Good value and solid food. However the staff act like you are troubling them from the moment you walk in the door. As others have commented you'll likely receive a rude greeting and afterward experience below average service.
