I ordered a taco salad. They charged me an additional $2.50 for some ranch dressing. Seriously? $2.50 for a plastic ramekin of dressing for a salad? read more

We just left Chimi's for the last time. The food and service have fallen way, way down. We ordered a pitcher of frozen margaritas that came spoiled and bitter. They clearly were from a slushy machine and probably have been sitting for days. There was no actual lemon and very little tequila involved. They tasted horrible. The waiter went on a tirade regarding how great they were and how our taste buds are faulty. Seriously? He reluctantly brought back a second pitcher but with ice and water on top since we'd ordered them over ice to hopefully get some fresh ones. Then he argued with us that they were terrific and we just don't know how they should taste. So along with margaritas that tasted like burnt soap and terrible service, the fajita chicken was dry and the vegetables were super greasy. We've gone there for several years but this was it. read more

This location is decorated with bright, colorful decor. There is plenty of parking available in a shared lot. They bring complementary chips and salsa to the table. I really love their salsa as it has a good balance of spice and flavor. The chicken fajitas were near perfect. Service was attentive but not overly friendly. read more

Most of the time good until I sat in a booth towards the back for 45+ minutes before a worker took my order. Drinks are ok. Food is average. Will not be coming back. read more

This place has reasonable priced lunch items and to be available also on Saturday is an added bonus because not all restaurants offer lunch specials outside their weekdays. Several lunch options on the menu under $10 like this veggie burrito. Service was great and this place also gives chips and salsa with your meal. Great place to also bring larger parties and we appreciate being allowed to do a reservation ahead of time. read more

Chimi's Fresh-Mex - Veggie burrito lunch special. I got a lil carried away cutting up the burrito I almost forgot to capture my photo. - Mexican Near Me - Chesterfield, Missouri

This local fresh Tex-Mex chain consistently delivers on good food quality and service. This location, like the others, is airy, bright, and colorful. My fajita of steak and veggies needed a little seasoning but was otherwise moist and hot. Refried beans and Spanish rice were both thoroughly cooked without being overcooked. Service was attentive without being intrusive. read more

Overall about 3.5 Stars for Good. First visit last night. Good looking, clean restaurant. And, a full bar. Best item was their salsa. Good recipe. Very favorable and just a hint of heat. Most will like it. I ordered the Carne Asada steak with grilled onions, tomatoes. and jalapenos. It was good. Steak sliced and tender. But could have used a bit more flavor like chili powder or Tajin Clasico seasoning on the steak. Beans were good. Only disappointment was the rice. Was dried out. Fell off your fork trying to scoop it up. Didn't taste bad. Just no flavor. Difficult to find a Mexican restaurant with rice that's not bland tasting and seems like an after-thought. (Only one I know of in St. Louis, MO area, but can't mention it in this column). Service was good and immediate. Plenty of easy parking. Would I go back ? Yes. read more

My boyfriend and I were really looking forward to trying a New Mexican restaurant this past weekend. We were especially excited for all of the a la carte options the menu offered. We ordered a chicken quesadilla, spinach quesadilla, beef enchilada, chicken enchilada, side of rice, side of beans, corn cake, 3 steak tacos, and a beef chalupa. The quesadillas were really good!!! We also enjoyed the corn cake, rice and beans, and the enchilada sauce. Everything else seemed to have a little bit of a funky taste to it.... Especially the steak tacos. The steak had a really good texture but tasted like it had been dipped in paint. Given the good and the bad, I'll probably be back at some point. I didn't get to try any of the drinks, which I regret. There were also a handful of dishes that I'd like to try. read more

Great restaurant! Service was fast and employees were super nice. Music and tv's were not loud so we can talk to each other without having to struggle. Bathroom was super clean but we got there as soon as they opened so not sure how they are after a whole day. Good was really good and big portions. Prices are very ready also. Will definitely come back to visit. read more

My partners favorite spot. I was already told before arriving what dish I had to try so I didn't even look at the menu lol. Camarón A La Diablo - Hot & Spicy Shrimp served on a bed of rice and lettuce. Although she was not pleased at all with the current size of the shrimp in comparison to what they are on her other frequent visits the meal was still divine. The flavor and spice was spot on. The rice was delicious as well. I was overjoyed that they didn't serve the dish with beans but with steamed veggies. Seasoned perfectly cooked veggies. Cadillac Margarita - I mean I can't say much about them other than they are giving what they are supposed to give. read more

The server was rude, didn't understand English, the food was like American trying to be Mexican. Overpriced, not good at all. The manager said "well the next time you come in we'll fix this issue..." wth, lame and I'd rather go to Taco Bell. Not worth the time it took to write this review. Not going back. read more

This has become our favorite Mexican restaurant. The food actually seems freshly made ,where as many pre cook and then keep in warmers. The service is always good, and margaritas are great! I love the chilli poblanos, and my husband always gets a combo with chili, taco, and a poblano. I highly recommend this location at the strip mall on corner of Olive & old 141. read more

Went to Chimi's FreshMex this past Friday. It's better than your average Mexican restaurant. The place is really clean, really fresh ingredients, and some really good cerveza that is served at the correct temperature....cold! I had the Green Chili Chimi and honey got the Pollo Chipotle. Both were really good, served hot, and really tasty. I especially liked the fresh guacamole that was a part of the dish. I enhanced mine with their salsa that was a really good recipe; just the right amount of tomato chunkiness, pepper, and spice. This is a great place for a group of your friends who also may like margarita's or cold cerveza too. You're gonna like this place because its a nice change from the other places. Mucho Bueno! read more

It's pretty good Mexican food. We have eaten there once and gotten take out5-6 times. Only once did they miss something on the to go order but I'd check at the store to make sure. They give large portions for the price. We always have enough left over for lunch the next day. read more

I have never been to a Chimi's and now I know why. Just subpar Mexican Food. Their rice and beans had no flavor at all. Frankly I can make it better than they did. If it is not Chava's or Mi Ranchito then it is not worth a visit to me. The decor is just horrid. I have no idea why they had an opportunity to make a new and fresh look and went with the antiquated Mexican feel. I think they missed the mark here. They even have a monkey standing on bar with a cigarette in his mouth??? This is just so bizzare in a time when Non-Smoking is King. The positive... they do have seating for a lot of people. read more

We've tried many other Mexican/Tex-Mex joints in this corner of St. Louis County and finally got around to trying Chimi's. We walked right in and were immediately seated. The restaurant looks festive and inviting and I liked how the booths were almost in their own cubbies for privacy in conversation. We ordered a queso dip, a burrito of some variety, and the chicken fajita chimichanga. Overall, the food was fine. Nothing outstanding, but on par with west county Mexican food. read more

They don't season the beef. Twice we've been there. First time, ordered Steak a la Tampiquena. Not seasoned, not marinaded, overcooked. Second time, beef tacos. How do you mess up tacos? NO SEASONING! Overcooked! Wife had Spinach Quesadilla. A THIN layer of melted cheese spread on the tortilla, with tons of spinach which seemed very much like Green Giant frozen spinach. Spinach not mixed in with the cheese, and very soggy. On a positive note, the beans are very good, flavorful. Because they SEASON THEM! read more

We have been going to Chimis for two years after moving here from Texas. We will never go back. After ordering we noticed the manager going into the kitchen area and start cursing out loudly in Spanish saying stuff that would be embarrassing to anyone. Both my wife and I understood what he was yelling. He was laughing and didn't have any concerns. If he had been yelling in English he would not have been tolerated. When I told our server about it he apologized but the manager never did. Obviously the manager is full of himself and thinks he is indispensable. read more

My girlfriend and I met for lunch February 2. We were seated right away with chips and salsa. I didn't partake. She got Shrimp Tacos ($13.95) -- Three shrimp tacos on corn tortillas with a side of rice. I got the Fajita Steak Chimi ($10.95) -- Deep fried flour tortilla, filled with fajita steak, sautéed onions, peppers and cheese. It was served with rice and beans. It didn't take long for our food to come out, and we both liked our food. My rice tasted like rice, which, to me, is cardboard. The beans were a smooth sauce kind of thing with some cheese. These beans were quite tasty. Then, we decided to split a fried ice cream. It was served in a shell, covered with chocolate sauce and some crunchy elements, and topped with a cherry. It looked beautiful, but I didn't like the shell, and the whole dish just really wasn't my cup of tea. I'll come again and try something different. Nonetheless, I took home beans and half of my Fajita Steak Chimi, which served well for lunch the next day. read more

Service and atmosphere were perfect! Salsa has cilantro, which I love. Watermelon margarita was refreshing and not too sweet. My only complaint is my chimichanga had burnt steak in it. read more

The food is average. The Margarita was weird tasting, like it was not fresh. There were more waiters than customers and we still had slow service, which was strange. The service was nice but again it was very slow. TLDR: Average or below. Too many great Mexican places around to drive out of your way for this one. read more

The service is friendly and prompt though when we went the waitress and waiters didn't speak English very well. They serve large beers at a low price. The problem was the food. The chips were great but the salsa seemed watered down and not very flavorful. The pork Burrito that I had was bland to the point of being tasteless and the lettuce did not seem fresh and the guacamole was also fairly bland. Not what I expected. If this is what the food normally tastes like I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

Chimi's Fresh-Mex finally opened their new location at Four Seasons Center. It looks exactly like all of their other locations except that it is shiny and new. Same menu. I visited on a Wednesday night during their first week and they had quite a nice crowd in there. I ordered the Cheese Enchiladas dinner and subbed the rice & beans for corn cake. My dinner date ordered a combo plate with a taco and an enchilada. Everything was decent. It could have been a touch hotter. Love their chips and salsa. Reasonably priced and good strip mall Mexican food. Much better choice than the El Maguey to the east and Fiesta to the west. We'll be back for sure. read more

Chimi's Fresh-Mex - Cheese Enchiladas - Mexican Near Me - Chesterfield, Missouri

My review has to do specifically with the Chesterfield location at 60 Four Seasons Shopping Center. I can't seem to learn, but my wife likes "Mexican food". I'm so disgusted with Chimi's getting my carry out orders wrong, let alone the "God, I wish I didn't have to be here" look and attitude of some of the UP FRONT employees. And as usual, I tipped at least 10% (on a carry out order) because that's common courtesy. I ordered the Enchilada Verdes and chose beef. When I cut into them, all 3 were cheese. I know $11 isn't anything to get twisted about. It's when I call and get the "Come back up and we'll have them ready..." thing. Really? So I should drive there and back again? I happened to be speaking with the manager (he had my order number) and I asked if he would please just credit my Visa card. He actually said "I'll give you my name and next time you come, you don't pay for enchiladas". I said (to myself) "screw it" and said I'd come get a new order. I thought about the manager's trite brush-off, again I said "screw it" and chucked that foil container of cat food looking glop in the trash can. That is my last experience with Chimi's... Any location. You get what you pay for. read more

Yummyness! Chimi's Chicken entree is pure yummyness. Mind you, I switched it up a bit. Beans instead of rice, and added 4 shrimp. No skimping here. There's enough food for 2 dinners! The shrimp was succulent, prepared just the way I like it. The chicken is pounded thin, cut into strips. And the cheese sauce, don't get me started. There was a liberal amount of it, enough to dip the tortilla chips. Truly, a meal to drool over!!! read more

This location is a completely different experience than the other two locations I've been to. The wait staff is friendly, attentive and fast! We were in a bit of a rush for a show,so I was hesitant to go...given their track record. I was PLEASANTLY surprised by everything. Particularly the accuracy, execution and temp of our food! Worst fajitas I've ever had. Fake meat, no veggies but onions dripping in grease. Zero flavor and the opposite of fresh.

I have mixed feelings for this place. I have been coming here for years with my wife for lunch and we have never had a bad meal or subpar service. Recently we went for dinner and it was as if we were in a different restaurant. The service was extremely slow, even though it was not that busy. It was so bad after waiting over 15 minutes for our waiter to bring us the check we had to go to the checkout desk to ask for it. Worse than the poor service was the food, which was awful. I ordered the combo fajitas - the chicken was flavorless and the steak was so tough it was impossible to chew. Also, the veggies were overcooked and near burnt. My wife had the trio enchiladas - whatever sauce they were covered in, ruined them. We have had the lunch enchiladas many times and they were always great. Not these. So at the end of the meal we discarded half of the sliced chicken and 90% of the sliced steak fajitas and 2 and a half enchiladas. On the plus side, the cheese dip is very good, but a bit runny, and very pricey at $6 for a tiny dish. After a great while we will be back but only order the lunch combination plates. read more

Chicken Chimichanga was pretty good, nice sides. Salsa had a bit of a 'tinny' taste; chips were thick style. Waiter was OK, not overly friendly, but OK. Cashier took our check and without making eye contact or saying anything to us (spoke Spanish to waiter while we waited) and took my payment. She didn't asked us how our meal was or say 'Thank You, come again'. That would have gone a long way to persuading us to make the drive out to Chesterfield again, but probably won't. read more
