Service The moment I walked in I noticed the friendliness of the staff. They provide a comfortable, playful interaction which makes you feel appreciated as a customer. From ordering my meal to receiving it was appropriate. I did not feel like they rushed making the meal and I didn't feel like to took too long. I would have given less but I will say if you get the fried shrimp it's pretty good, however they soak your fried food with steamed shrimp if it comes with the platter. After reading the reviews, I was leery about eating here. I am so glad I ignored the reviews. They'd said the service wasn't good, the receptionist unfriendly, and the food not good. Nothing could be further from the truth. A smiling employee held the door open for me, the lady at the counter couldn't have been nicer or friendlier, and the food was out of this world. I ordered the scallops and they were cooked to perfection, the hush puppies were excellent, and the cole slaw very good. This will definitely become one of our regular take out places. read more

I have fond memories of this seafood restaurant when I lived in Capital Heights so I stopped by the Laurel location with high hopes. I ordered the broiled seafood platter and had the option of substituting the scallops with the fish. I was highly disappointed, the crab cake was filled with filler and the scallops where not cleaned properly because upon chewing they had a slight crunch consistent with sand. Our meal came to almost $30, I would personally eat somewhere else if I had it to do over again. read more

I'm from Virginia Beach and the crabs are super cheap there. I was a bit taken aback by the prices. But, I'm in Maryland now so I accept that. I love the fact that Cameron's allowed us to carry the crabs out alive because I like to cook them myself. They were a mixed bag of males and there were definitely a bunch of big ones in there. Would give 0 stars if possible. Just got a bushel from Cameron's for my 4th of July party and everybody was disappointed. More than half the crabs were mealy. Most of them smelled terrible. I went to Cameron's yesterday (2/12/13). I had a order of fried shrimp which was okay. It had a heavy fried coating but the shrimp was a good size. Then I ordered a Rainbow Trout fish dinner, the skin on the fish was like leather and it had no taste. The seasoning wasn't there. The fries were old. I was also charged $1 more on my credit card. If I hadn't pulled out the receipt and re-checked I wouldn't have seen the mistake. My charge was 18.06 but my card was charged $19.06. I won't be going back to this place. read more

Im new to the area and coming from the midwest to a coastal area, All of my friends back home ask me about the Seafood...how is it? Is it better than here...Well i haven't made to the docks of Chesapeake to feast on crab, but I will say Cameron's is a great stop in the meantime while planning a seafood excursion trip. The crab cakes were very tasty, and the Spicy Shrimp is addictive...I think they mix in some crack with the spicy seasoning because I ate half a pound and was plotting on how I could get back as soon as possible for some more... Was there last Sunday 2/10 purchased 1 dozen female crabs and they were the worst crabs I have ever had, whatever they steamed them in must be 5 years old, the crabs were super mushy and all re-steams, I was born and raised in Maryland and am a crab lover, this restaurant should lose its license to sell crabs for doing what they did to these, if I ever go again and get crabs they will be live.Never ever have them cook you're crabs!! read more

Yuck. I come here about every other year thinking that maybe it would've improved. It's convenient to where I live and today we just wanted seafood from somewhere close. When I bit into that first unseasoned steamed shrimp, I regretted that I just didn't get my shrimp out the freezer & steam it my damn self. Lesson learned. Most disgusting crab cake I've ever had. I couldn't believe they actually sold me that nasty crab cake. It's just filler and nonsense so deeply fried that you're supposed to forget about the crab. All they sell is salted seafood. Even the fish, shrimp and calamari aren't worth it. I usually get the platter by have just learned it won't be better next time. Don't bother with them. I usually just go down to The Wharf and get something that actually tastes good. I'm so disappointed with the money I've wasted because they're conveniently located. I call them to get a bushel of crabs and they told me $100 on the phone then when I get there they say $130 for a bushel. They are very high for the quality that you get for the crabs. They said that they where number 1 males and they look like females. read more

Terrible!!! I ordered a fried Tilapia platter and a fried shrimp platter. The shrimps looked like they were prepared frozen and fried in the same grease as the fish and everything was very greasy. Hush puppies were overcooked. This is not the Cameron's I remember. It has to be the location. It's been awhile but the Capital Heights and Hyattsville locations served quality food. Starting off, this is my first time ever writing a review for a restaurant. However, I've read plenty of them being a manager of a restaurant years ago. I want to start off with the product. The crabs were horrible. The inside of the crabs were mushy for the most part and the ones the were edible was dry. I'm originally from New Orleans so I know a think or two about seafood. I can tell this was two different batches. Out of 24 crabs I opened half of them and over 6 were mushy so I called to get my money back. After going back and forth with the guy over the phone he told me he is not authorized to give refunds and the manager isn't available. The problem I'm having is how can you ran an establishment and not have a refund system in place? So the manager comes in 2 days later and refuse to refund the money. *The customer service suck. *professionalism was poor. (Children was behind the counter) *product wasn't fit to sell. Where do I start? I've gotten good crabs from here before, but it's not my preference. Because of the weather, I wanted to go somewhere close to home. I paid $30/dozen regular males. Thank God they were out of the $50 jumbos, or I would have wasted $50 instead of $30. I'd read reviews about bad crabs, but because I had good ones and really wanted them, I ignored them. I waited for them to "cook" them, but the bag wasn't really hot and steamy like bags of crabs tend to be. A little warm. My mind was elsewhere so this didn't hit me until I got home 10 minutes later. Usually riding home with crabs, the smell is tempting me to pull over and eat a crab right then, but not these. Get in the house and the crabs were not too hot to eat, like they usually are ten minutes after cooking them. In fact, they were barely warm. Only 5 out of the bag were edible. The rest were mushy and mealy and gross. Like they were old. Just downright disrespectful! The shrimp had good flavor, but were over cooked (probably re-heated) and half were hard to peel. Next time I will drive right by here for 15 more minutes and pay more money at Crab Galley in Bowie. My feelings are still hurt 5 days later. read more

I gave this place three tries before writing a review. They don't season the food AT ALL. Last time I paid for fresh catfish and had them fry it. It had no salt, pepper or anything. I dumped a ton of hot sauce on it and still couldn't eat it. Today I decided to try the trout broiled. They literally slapped the thinnest price of trout they could find on the grill and threw it on top of some boiled to death broccoli. Not one grain of salt on the fish or any other seasoning. I ordered two dozen of crabs over the weekend and when I ordered i instructed them to no to overcook the crabs because before I had one or two mushy ones. However, I at about 10 out of the two dozen and approximately 6 were mushy. I knew it was awkward when they were finished in 10 minutes. They recooked crabs they have already been cooked. I am so disappointed with this place! Ordered crabs for Father's Day and they were horrible. Mushy, tasted like they were dead before they were cooked and were so small. We even Witnessed people bring back dead ones when they bought a bushel of live ones. Definitely not worth what we paid for them! read more
