Whatever you do, do not give these guys your business. They are rude, unprofessional, uncommunicative and lazy. I brought them a digital projector which they told me would be repaired in one week. I called them one week later and they said it would take another week. I chalked that up to normal everyday delays. I asked them to call me sometime during the second week to update me on progress. I got no call. When I called them they literally told me not to call and to wait for them to call me. I asked when they would call me. I was told that they would call me before noon the following day. No call. I waited to see if they would call the following day. Nothing. I finally called and they told me again, "Don't call us. Why are you calling? You should wait for us to call you." I asked again, "When will you call me with an update about an estimate?" (no, they still had not given me an estimate). A month of this went by and I finally got the owner of the business on the phone. No apologies, no accountability, no professionalism. Nothing. In fact, he was incredibly rude. He explained to me that his other customers are more important than me and that he refused to repair my projector and told me to pick it up. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. I went in a couple of months ago with an intermittent problem with my camera. In the shop it worked okay, and Harry couldn't find the problem after a while it started doing it again so I took it back. He saw what was wrong and took care of it. My Pentax K-30 recently experienced the dreaded aperture block issue. General Camera Repair/Digitech said they couldn't do anything about it and that it wasn't possible to obtain a replacement part. My lcd on my Nikon cool pixels was damaged. Nikon does not have an authorized repair center anywhere in socal. And I couldn't locate anywhere to get it repaired except for Max. Living in Long Beach as far south as I can without having a boat I wasn't excited about driving to Montrose but didn't have much choice. So I called the shop on a Friday. After discussing my problem I gave my credit card info over the phone so that he could order the part immediately. I brought the camera the next day along with a boc and packing material hoping that he could FedEx to me and save me another round trip. He readily agreed and when the camera was ready I emailed him the shipping label. He took it to FedEx and I got it the next day. The charge for parts and labor was less than $100 for a $600 cameta. Stay away from this guy he screwed me over 3 times last time $250 I dropped off a camera for 2 reason the remote and firewire didn't work and when I got it back it still didn't work and all he could say was "We didn't touch the firewire" $250 gone When I first dropped the camera off he told me he would give me a same day estimate and after not hearing from him for a week I called him and said "What's up" so he said he's call me back at the end of the day and he did. But he didn't fix either of the two problems The first time was about 2 years ago I dropped off 3 pairs of headphones and he did the same thing had to call him in week. The estimate he gave me was almost the price of new ones I said go ahead and never heard from him agin I've never written a review of ANY business on the web before but this is the first time I straight out got screwed like this He isn't even able to pull up the original repair order in a computer I have to know what day it was so he can go through he receipts Once many years ago same stuff took forever had to call left him with a Sony 1000 and when I picked it up it had a huge gash in the screen and he insisted it was always there I just never noticed it read more

This place is great!! I came in to buy an old film camera for a photo class I was taking. I already had a lens from an old broken camera, and I was lucky that he had the camera I needed, and was kind enough to sell me just the body. I retuned when I thought I was having trouble with it, and he showed me what I was doing wrong, and gave me a tutorial on how to use it! I told him I wanted another lens with macro, and he dug around and found me the perfect lens for a steal! It was even a Sony lens, not some aftermarket copy. He cleaned my old lens for free, and found me a bag for all of my stuff for near nothing!! Harry, I think his name was, is such a nice man, he really cares, and is very fair priced. Harry just fixed my camera for free! I was having battery. charging issues and Harry told me what I needed to do (had a 4GB card instead of a 2GB card for the Nikon D50) and that's what handled it. An easy fix but it would have taken me a while to get there! We swapped cards and it's all fixed! He also formatted the card, made it so my pictures would be of better quality and didn't want a cent. I took my camera to repair the battery door. When I picked it up the battery was missing and the owner had to look for it. When I went to use my camera it said 'memory full' the memory card was missing. The owner stated he did not loose it and would not replace it. Two complaints. I had them transfer mini video cassettes of my babies films onto dvds for me a while back. When I went to view the dvd's, they were all shaky and hard to watch. I called them up to tell them and they said it was the way I video taped the films. I told him its impossible that I filmed EVERY single cassette like that. Their machine must have not been working. He said he couldn't do anything about. I spent a few hundred on doing this transfer and they were rude about trying to figure out if was on their end. End of first experience! Then, I was silly enough to go back again because its the only local camera shop! This time I took my Samsung Wi-fi camera to repair the lense that didn't open after dropping it once. I dropped off my camera and was told they would let me know what the problem was and the cost. Weeks went by and they never called. I called and they said they hadn't looked at it and would do so and get back to me. Months went by and they finally called me and told me the repair cost. Samsung customer service said it shouldn't cost more than $50 to repair - well, Max's was charging me over $85. I told them to forget it and I would pick up camera. He said to give me a week as he had to put it back together. I went to pick it up, they couldn't find my camera. He finally found it and it was still taken apart. He said sorry, he would have it put together. I told him if he repaired it for $50 I'd leave it - he said no. I called to pick it up and they said it wasn't ready again. Needless to say, I forgot about it and months went by again. A friend went to pick it up and they couldn't find it again. When they found it, it still was in pieces. SERIOUSLY!! She told them she'd be picking it up the next day so it better be ready. When she picked it up she said they were rude to her. I had to call them myself and tell them to release the camera to her because I didn't have time to deal with them and they never had it ready for me. I got my camera back finally. I went to try a few things per the Samsung people and realized that the battery was missing. What!!! I gave it to them with the battery. The owner stated he did not loose it and would not replace it. If I could, I'd give them no stars for their poor customer service. The fact that they couldn't find my camera twice and then it wasn't put back together the times I went to pick it up says a lot! I won't be going back there again. I am now Yelping to find another camera shop in cities nearby - I'll make the drive if I have to. And I still haven't fixed my camera and its been a year thanks to Max's camera shop!! read more
