Fish & Chips are my favorite food to get whenever we go out to the coast! This time, we were out in Pacifica for my daughter's swim meet, and I took to yelp/google to fnd a place nearby - this did not disappoint! The fish was delicious - perfectly crispy, and not too greasy. The takeout actually also traveled well down the road 10 minutes for my husband. My only complaint is that there were just too many fries to eat lol - but not a bad problem! :) My younger daughter and I hung out at the restaurant to eat and had a great time - nice and quiet, and warm. :) read more

It's a cool little recreation of an English pub, not that I have first hand knowledge of that, but Pacifica has their long-standing spots. And this place is deco'ed and pinted for authenticity. So, this is not a 'bad' 3 rating. It's a 'It's fine. And I'd go back.' If you've got a Jones for fish n' chips, don't think you'll be disappointed. But I mean, it's all deep fried. THE BEST British style fish and chips we've had in the US. Around since 1969, they are a Bay Area institution that is always highly recommended by my British, Scottish, and Irish friends when I ask if they've had any fish and chips locally close to what's made at home. The fry batter is airy and crunchy and you won't feel groggy from too much oil after you eat here. The fish was great and we loved the horseradish addition in the cocktail sauce served with the fried shrimp. Normally we try to remove starch from potatoes before frying but these chips seem to retain if not amplify the starchiness. These are what proper British chips should taste like and our entire basket was totally empty by the time we were done. We were married in Scotland and I'll seek out the rare deep fried "moz baz" (mars bars) just like all the local chippers adverts in Edinburgh. They have them here though it's so opulent and sweet I would definitely share it or brush your teeth soon after. They have beers on tap, I went for the Camelot branded beer specially brewed for them and it was a good light pairing for lunch. Cozy little place by the ocean, perfect to wander into on cold days, which are just about every day in Pacifica. It's very charmingly old-school with wooden panels, tables and chairs. Plenty of UK decor to enjoy in this cute dimly lit place. Service is also very prompt and friendly. But of course the main reason you go: FISH AND CHIPS. They're perfect here. Breading, crispness, freshness, everything. Served with tartar sauce and malt vinegar = heavenly joyous comfort food. The clam strips and fried mushrooms are also just as impressive. But before you dig in, take caution that the food comes out piping hot and stays hot for a while! This statement won't make any sense whatsoever but this is one of those instances when 'I wish you all could taste the photos I posted of the food we ate here.' It was just such a pleasant experience from start to finish. I have to admit I was a bit stressed when my husband and I first walked in because our 2 yr old was a bit cranky. Secondly, they only had a small table fit for 2 people. Please note that this is a small hole-in-the-wall establishment not suited for group dining but we snapped up the bistro table anyway. The hostess was SO sweet and SO understanding! She knew immediately to let us know they can't accommodate us with a high chair because the restaurant is so small but as soon as a bigger table was available she would seat us there .... AND SHE DID. Such hospitable service!!! 5 stars already and we hadn't even ordered yet at this point. We ordered the fish and chips combo with breaded shrimp. It was served within 10 mins! Hot and fresh! And I can't even say enough about that crispy texture. I've had plenty of fish and chips in this lifetime but it was nice that this wasn't greasy. It was almost 'buttery'. The breaded shrimp was equally as satisfying as far as crispiness and flavor. The fish was definitely the star of the show. Overall, a great place to have lunch and a beer. Camelot has been our go-to place for fish and chips since we moved to Pacifica many years ago. Sometimes we will dine-in, most other times, we order for pick-up and eat at home or in our car by Rockaway Beach while watching the waves crash. We even joined in there 2019 50th anniversary celebration pre-Covid. Their fish and chips and shrimp and chips are the consistent items we order. You could have salt, vinegar or both added to your seafood. Takeout orders may be placed online for pick-up. You'll receive a text when your order is ready. Dine-in is now available too. Parking around the area is sometimes difficult on the weekends, but you can park in the Manor Plaza lot across the street. Our most recent trip here was today after a dentist appointment. The fish was a little over-cooked and the batter was hard in some places. I came for the week to Pacifica. I love fish and chips! I don't have any fish and chip places, near where I live. So I was really wanting some, while on vacation. I tried one place close to where I am staying, not very good. I tried Camelot and it was PERFECT! The service was sooo nice! Quick, kind, excellent skills! And the lady (Wednesday 30th 12:45pm) checked on me etc. perfect service. The ambiance was perfect also. Door open so we get a cool breeze. As soon as I stepped into the place, I was in a different world. They even have a pic of the now King Charles, on the wall. Beautiful woodworking, clean, sanitary and kept clean as the customers left. There was a constant stream of customers. I love this place more than any other fish and chips place, I've been to. I'd gladly drive for the day to Pacifica, just to come to Camelot and the beach! The fish was savory, tender, moist, it glistened with freshness, cooked perfectly, the breaded covering crispy and not over done! Sorry I didn't eat the chips today (I was already full!), but they smelled wonderful and looked perfect! The lady didn't forget one condiment. She knows her job and does it superbly! We've been wanting to come here- like -forever!!!! Driving from the East Bay heading to Brisbane for an appointment, we made the trip a little further west to the ocean for lunch at Camelot. We arrived at a perfect time -around 1:30p -on a Wednesday and there were 2 nice tables available for our selection, but patrons started to overflow while we ate our meal. The pub is small, quaint and clean. There is no apparent grease/fish odor and the menu is simple to understand. Prices are fair for the quality and quantity of food you receive. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. The fish and chips are fresh and clearly cooked to order. The fish - is some of the largest pieces of true cod I've seen around the Bay Area and the fish was breaded and fried to English-style pub perfection. The chips - not fries - we also cut and fried to English-style pub perfection. My sampler came with chicken also and OMG, it didn't disappoint - breaded and fried to perfection. There was a plethora of condiments brought to the table table - tartar sauce, ranch dressing, cocktail sauce, bbq sauce, malt vinegar and fine sea salt. Forewarning, 3 pieces of fish is a lot of fish b/c the pieces are quite generous. We have PLENTY left overs that will heat up very well in the air fryer. It's been 3 hours post meal, and so far -no acid reflux indigestion, funny-tummy or headache! For my personal health goals and reasons, Camelot is not a place where I intend to visit often. However, I will highly recommend this pub to visiting family and friends for authentic pub fish, chicken and chips. This is a neighborhood, sea community and family staple. I want to start this review by saying I absolutely HATED fish and chips prior to coming here. I've had so many shitty, oily, and soggy batches in my life that I had given up on eating them. Camelot changed that! I came here on a Saturday at 11:30 AM. It wasn't full, yet, but there were 3 groups of people already eating inside. When you walk in, make sure you know what you want, especially if you're going to dine in. You HAVE to order first before you take a seat (there's a sign about this as well). I ordered the fish and chips for dine in. They make every order fresh so there is a lengthy wait. On top of that, I noticed that they had A LOT of to-go orders, which I think adds to the lengthy wait. It's worth it though, I promise! The host drops my food off and warned me that it was hot. She also dropped off salt, ketchup, and malt vinegar. I'm stubborn and don't listen, tried to take a bite and I burned myself...lol. I took a bite of a chip and they're not crispy or soft...they're kind of a perfect combination of both. Not super salty or greasy which is a plus for me. The fish finally cooled down a bit and I took I bite. I'm used to super greasy fish but THESE were built different. Not greasy, oily, salty, or soggy. The breading was sooooo airy and melts in your mouth. Sometimes I peel off the breading when I've had enough of the grease and just eat the fish. But this batch of fish....I didn't have to do that AT ALL. The fish itself was white and flaky. I also really liked their tarter sauce. It was so thick and creamy (like a buttermilk sauce) and elevated my fish and chips experience. My eyes were bigger than my stomach and I could barely finish my meal. I notice a line of take-out as I arrive. I also notice take-out is the only option at the moment. Alas! The Black Plague of last year even touching the lives and businesses in small town America. And as much I wanted to sit and enjoy this wonderful English-inspired pub, with eclectic decor that reminded me of those I visited in London, I was ok with take-out. Lady C. was there to greet me in her beanie and a hint of British accent. A moderne Guinevere! Cute as an English button she takes me order... I order a full order of Fish & Chips (currently about $15) and ask Lady C. if I could order a beer for my birthday. She kindly said of course and even suggested a few. I notice the cliffs a street away and head on over... oh my it reminded me of the White Cliffs of Dover! I find a nice bench overlooking the ocean and dig in. Verdict? I'm in England! Oh my! Oh my! The most fantastic Fish & Chips since me glorious day's in London. The fish lightly battered with a golden crisp. The interior moist and fresh. A touch of vinegar made it "perfect" (sorry Ed lol). The chips large and generous and a meal in itself. It's served with little seasoning nothing ketchup can't fix. Truly a happy ending;) All in all, I highly recommend Camelot Fish & Chips in Pacifica. I wanted to take one star off for business hours not being long enough. However, being that their fish and chips are soooooo knock back I had to make it 5 stars. I come here for the prawns and chips extra extra salt and vinegar! The fact that they still wrap the food up in newspapers makes me happy. Idk where they get their fish but it's always plump, juicy, and flaky. When I say flaky I mean the fork separation to the fish. I don't like mushy fish so I hope I explained that. Inside is small but who needs to eat indoors when the beach is right down the street. This place is always busy and staff always manage to keep a smile on their face. We ordered the fish and chips (not cheap btw) and took it to go since they don't have outside seating and my friend had her dog with us. The fish portions were large and thick cut. The batter was completely covered and very crispy. The fries were cut and cooked to perfection. None of it had any flavor though!! It was the weirdest thing. I even doused mine in vinegar and still, it just wasn't great. Not even with ketchup. It desperately needed salt but because we got it to-go, it wasn't included with the rest of the order. The chicken strips were good from what my niece says and the sweet potato fries were just as tasty. French fries are always fresh and thick cut. You can grab just the fish and chips, fish and shrimp, fish and oysters, fish and a whole bunch of other offerings. The portions are super generous, and tasty doesn't even come close. The fish is so incredibly fresh, and I love the fact that the batter was crisp and not soggy, and it did not have that greasy aftertaste. Truly delicious. We ordered both onion rings and fries and both of them were delicious. The onion rings just like the fish were light and crispy and not greasy. I could've eaten just the onion rings and been happy they were so good. The fries were the same. Light, crispy, and lightly seasoned. We are here visiting from the UK and were told we just had to visit this English fish and chip restaurant during our stay. You step across the quaint threshold and are transported into a tiny piece of England. The decor and memorabilia is spot on and you are warmly welcomed by the British waitress. We wanted to try the fish and chips immediately but were tempted by some of the other options on the menu. To start we had the jalapeño poppers and crunchy onion rings. Both were delicious! On to the main attraction and wow were we ever impressed. The fish was succulent and the batter was crisp and light and I can say with confidence that the chips were some of the best I've eaten. *Pre-pandemic review* 51 years in business and they must be doing something right. Prior to eating here last year, we've probably been here about a dozen or so times over the years. We've always enjoyed their food and the ambiance of the place is legit. Walking inside is like teleporting to a coast side town somewhere in the British isles. My friend introduced me to this place back in high school in the late 80's, and it's good to know not much has changed. But coming back here felt like it was new again, and I got that tingling sensation in my head. Wifey and I were hungry so we both got The Camelot ($17.95). It comes with 1 fish (+ chips of course), 3 shrimps, 3 scallops and 3 oysters. She got a cup of lemonade to wash it down and I got a glass of English Ale to pair it with these deep fried British grub. If you come here looking to eat healthy, then by jolly please leave cause this ain't the place for you. Quit complainin' that they don't have any vegetarian options and don't let the door hit you in the behind. The food has been consistent and the ingredients are fresh. They let the ingredients stand for themselves and it's not over-seasoned. I know some people may want it saltier, but you can always season your food to your preference. That's what the condiments are there for, and simply ask. The fish has a clean taste and you can always add a dash of malt vinegar to give it that extra kick. You can enjoy the rest as is or dunk it in some tartar sauce or cocktail sauce. That's part of the experience and fun of eating here.
