I stopped by Camelot Fish & Chips a couple days ago, on a Friday late afternoon. I've been coming to Camelot off and on for 25 years. I love how the inside transports you to an English pub. I ordered my go to order of a 2 piece fish and chips. As always, the fish was crisp, hot and fresh tasting and the chips yummy. The portions are generous and yes it's a little pricey, but I appreciate all the care that goes into the food! You can tell. I especially appreciate the woman at the counter who took my order and brought my food to the table. She was personable and enthusiast. Not overly, just nice. She offered great beer suggestions (I was looking for something on tap and sadly my usual Boddingtons was not available) and the pro tip of air frying leftovers was spot on. It reheated beautifully! We are British living in the US. Whenever we are close to Pacifica we make a special trip to Camelot. This is the fourth time we have visited Camelot. They have the best and most authentic fish and chips we have tasted in the US! The chips are great and the fish and batter is full of flavor. Today we visited with some family and enjoyed fish and chips, a pint of Smithwick's and pear cider. Everything was delicious and made to order. I decided to take my food and eat near the water. I ordered the Camelot. Which is one piece of fish, shrimp, oysters and chips. I love the chips. It's really a lot of food for one person . I had leftovers for later. The fish was crispy and flaky. The oysters were nicely seasoned and the shrimp had a decent crunch to it. You get a nice pub feeling if you dine in. I'm a sucker for fried fish and fried potatoes. I get a craving sometimes and I need to get it. I ordered to go and I was very happy with my food. The place has a nice decor that makes it feel very eclectic and interesting to look at. The line was long when I went last, so it was nice to look around while waiting to order. The lady at the counter was very nice. I don't remember specifically what we talked about, but she had some good jokes and also encouraged me to try the malt vinegar on the fish which I hadn't done yet in my life. I'm a fin, err, fan! Camelot Fish & Chips is a surprising find! Thanks to a Yelp search, I found a great spot next to the Safeway in Pacifica! It offers great fish and chips (i.e., fries) and a perfect amount of British-like appeal that stands out in this quirky Bay Area coastal town and otherwise unassuming area of this part of Pacifica. The fish is tasty. I know that some reviews indicate that it doesn't have much flavor. However, as a fan of fish and chips, this is just about as good as it gets! It certainly lacks spice or the "fishy" taste of cheaper cuts of fish stored in salt water, but this is certainly a welcome taste for lovers of fish. The Fish: Perfectly battered and cooked. Camelot's fish lacks the gelatinous stuff found in poorly cooked or lesser cuts of fish. It's simply great battered fish that is fried to perfection! It is served with tartar or traditionally with salt and vinegar. The Chips: What more can be said? These are fantastic British fries! The Location: It's a very unassuming location off West Manor Drive just across the street (on the south side) from the Safeway shopping center in Pacifica. You can eat inside OR take your food to the beach at the Pacifica Municipal Pier OR to Rockaway Beach OR to Devil's Slide. After all, Pacifica is one of the hidden gems of the California coast! Nice little spot for fried, well, everything! I wanted some fish and chips, so we (husband/me) made the 30-minute drive over to Pacifica. We got to Camelot as soon as it opened. The place is small and seating is limited. We noticed several people coming in to place to-go orders. If you've got a large party, expect a wait. The servings of fish were massive; if you're up for it, consider splitting an order with someone. The breading was great, but the taste of the fish was okay. We also got fried zucchini (good!) and fried mushrooms (okay). While we were eating I laughed told my husband, "Ah. America. Fried veggies!" My husband got the Camelot and it has fried fish, fried shrimp, fried oysters, and fried scallops. He said the only thing that he'd again would be the fish and shrimp; he was not a fan of the oysters or scallops. If you actually have room to eat something else, they've got fried Twinkies and Mars bars. What would make this place better for me is if the fish would have been seasoned better. Guinness is solid too, which may sound obvious, but you can definitely tell a good draft Guinness from the rest, or maybe that's just me. Real fish & chips for sure if you've visited the UK (surprise, it's pollock, not cod). For a tiny place, the line runs pretty smoothly. I was expecting a pub, but was pleasantly surprised to see a local family-friendly place, since I had my baby with me (no room for high-chairs though). It's not really a place to "hang out" after you're done eating. When you get there, you order at the counter, and then they let you know what tables are open, so they're able to seat everyone who wants to eat in. Seafood and potatoes are pretty decently portioned. I came here for a large piece of fish, and that's what I got! Ordered a 3-piece fish & chips, shrimp & chips, and a krabby cake. Everything was fried well. Thick cuts of fish, juicy shrimp, and the crab cake was goood. There was 3 of us and a baby - we probably could've ordered more, but we kept it light. This was my first time here. Wow! This place lives up to all the 5 star reviews. Definitely the best fish and chips I've ever experienced. Don't pay any attention to the "Karen's and Kevin's" giving this great place a low rating. You see this all the time. Some people have impossible expectations and they think in addition to a great dining experience, they should have their butts baby powdered and perhaps a reacharound and if they don't get it, they whine like infants. I don't give out 5 star reviews easily but I don't trash a place and give it 2 stars just because the server failed to send me a Xmas card. This place was busy as hell and their fish was great. As you walk into Camelot of course you smell fried food, but not like my mother's house when the house stinks for several days of fish. Godbless her memory but she couldn't fry fish. I always thought if the place smells gamey don't bother. I've been to England & Camelot has a British ambiance. If you need a 'fix' for fish & chips I highly recommend Camelot. It's Covid season so we ordered walk up and takeout. They're handling the crowd control nicely and there were quite a few people waiting around to pick up orders. We placed ours, then walked down towards the beach. Saw a good parking spot and moved our truck so we had oceanside dining. Brought our smoking hot fried foods back to the vehicle and ate while it was hot. Good onion rings, and the fish and chips were exactly what one would like them to be, tender inside and crispy outside. My son had the fried clams and while they're not my thing, he loved them. Note: everything I saw on the menu was deep fried. I was really looking for crab cakes but made do with the mixed fish and chips with shrimp.
