Went here for a birthday dinner last night. The table was set with a personalized sign for the birthday girl! Drinks were amazing and topped with fresh fruit, and the corn bread is ALWAYS a hit. Food took a little longer than usual but we appreciated their transparency about training new kitchen staff. Our drinks and appetizers were delivered promptly which was great. The owners, Jen and Chambers, are always present and helping out the staff. What an incredible team they have. Best food in Edmonds and we love that they have vegan/vegetarian options. Wow! We were really impressed. The did was delicious as well as the drinks! Not only was the food plated beautifully but it tasted amazing! The atmosphere was lovely also. This place is Incredible! It was our second visit to this Caribbean restaurant, and even though it was busy like it always is, we were able to be seated right away inside! The reggae music, tropical decor and the lovely breeze was just what my boyfriend and I were looking for on our mid week date. We started with the jalapeno cornbread with the honey butter was amazing, as was the conch fritters. (my boyfriend's not a big fan of seafood, but even he enjoyed it.) I had the Mahi Mahi with risotto, and my boyfriend had the jerk chicken. Both entrees were delicious, and so big we had leftovers the next day. I was having a sweet tooth so we tried the key lime pie. YUMMY! So, not only is the food tasty, the ambiance is great, also the service is Fantastic! Our waitress (I'm soo sorry, I forgot her name, But, she had super long braids) and the owner even was sweet enough to check on us. Went here with a friend who knows the owner from school. I typically shy away from Caribbean restaraunts as I am not a fan of "jerk chicken" or "jerk" whatever. But Im glad I went. I was able to find several things that arent spicey on the menu and it was all delicious. We shared two apps (the prawns and the scallops) both were cooked perfectly with the pefect texture (i.e. not overcooked to the point of being chewy). For entrees I got the beef stew while my friend got the steak. Again both meals were cooked perfectly. I would definitely go here again just to try a couple of other items out on the menu. read more

Great new(er) place in Edmonds. We went for happy hour and tried almost everything on their Happy Hour food menu. The ribs are terrific, conch fritters are delicious, and street tacos such a treat. Delicious. Our dishes were full of flavor and just the right portions. The staff was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere was great - Caribbean with a modern twist. We loved the music mix - perfect fit for the atmosphere. Our meals: Jerk chicken wings appetizer PT: Ask for their hot sauce - mango and habanero bliss! Delish. She had Blackened Rock Fish - perfectly cooked and the cilantro lime cream was amazing I had Jerk Chicken - cooked just right - not dry at all. Tasty Tonight was wine night. The Prosecco was bubbly goodness and the Merlot was smooth and a great compliment to the meal. Rest assured we will definitely be coming back for the desserts and cocktails! This is definitely our go-to restaurant. Staff is always friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere is inviting, relaxing and clean. The owners, Jen and Chambers, have created a menu that is gluten free friendly, and very easy for the chef to modify a dish and protect from cross contamination. As someone with Celiac Disease, it can be difficult to have trust in a restaurants abilities to safely prepare a celiac safe meal. Calypso knows just what to do! Their knowledge and understanding of food restrictions is displayed by the time they take to talk with the chef and convey any concerns either the customer or chef have. I've eaten there 5 times and never become sick! The red curry quinoa dish is delicious. Spicy, flavorful, fresh and well balanced. And prepared celiac safe GF. Caesar salad, add chicken, is another yummy safe GF meal. My husband loves the rasta pasta (not GF). The jerk chicken wings are always a hit. And the kids menu pleases both my young grandchildren. The kids fruit platter presentation was superb! There are lots of crayons, markers and pictures available to keep kids happy and entertained. Always a fun, delicious experience. We've eaten here 4 times and the food and service is consistently wonderful. Last night we celebrated my husband's 40th birthday here with friends. They made us feel so special, going out of their way to make the experience perfect. Our waitress was attentive, quietly refilling waters and changing out dinnerware, folding napkins when a guest stepped away to the restroom, etc... but she did it in a way that didn't draw attention away from the conversation. The food was AMAZING. Every single dish was prepared perfectly. The seasonings were spot on - full of flavor and heat, but not too salty. The drinks are always so good here too. My husband says they make the best Old Fashion. I'm partial to the Mojito. This is our favorite spot in Edmonds. We were so happy to share our special evening here, and we plan to return many more times. read more

When the entrees did come out 70 minutes later, they were spot on. Not sure if they completely forgot about us or what the reason for an exorbitant wait time was. Edmonds needed this ray of sunshine! Joined a friend for HH a few weeks back, and was so impressed. The former Cafe Des Paris space feels bright, lively and welcoming. We enjoyed our bevvies (Hurricane and Zombie), along with the prawns, Caesar salad and wings. Flavor profile was on point and the only teeny tiny thing would be that I prefer the skin on the wings to be a little more rendered than they were. But that's just me. Stopped in for drinks and a gift card. Very awesomely traditional menu for a Caribbean restaurant. The Painkiller and the Zombie- the drinks by which we measure a Caribbean bar, were really great! The ambiance and the sunset view (Southerly in December) were perfect. One of the owners was running the front of the house and the service was excellent. Returned 2 months later and the Mango Habanero Mojito was fabulous. Also had the coconut prawns and they were really good! read more

Wow, we had a fabulous experience at Calypso for a recent date night. We called and got our name on the list and a table was ready for us when we arrived. The staff helped guide us through the menu since it was our first visit. Great list of tiki drinks and a whole menu for mocktails, which was a nice surprise. For apps the corn bread is to die for!!! We got the take out since the dining room is closed because of COVID-19. The food was fantastic. We got the jerk chicken and the rock fish. The accompaniments of rice and beans and mixed veggies were also incredibly delicious. What a nice addition to the restaurants in Edmonds. You can tell this place near the ferry in Edmonds is a labor of love, from the tasteful, quirky decor, to the gracious, hospitable greeting and service, to the totally authentic and yummy Caribbean dishes, to the perfect drinks. Heard about it in the Beacon so my wife and I tried it out.. Fun atmosphere with soft Caribbean lighting and comfortable chairs. (Did I mention how much I like comfortable chairs!) Our server was Karli and she could not have been nicer. Seriously, we have family members who are far less welcoming.. :-) ) She gave the perfect balance of attentiveness / leaving us alone... Which is pretty rare these days. We split two Appetizers (Caesar Salad & Conch Fritters) and the Coconut Prawns entree. All were delicious with generous servings and represented a great value.
