One of my favorite garden nurseries in North, Texas. Ryan the General Manager at this location is just one of the nicest and of the most knowledgeable guys in the field of gardening. His staff members are always super helpful and friendly. If one does no the answer, they will ask someone who does. Let's go to the value at all of their locations. I price shop all of the garden stores in the area, from Lowe's, Home Depot to Christiana's and more. Calloways has the best pricing for fuller, thicker herbs then anyone else in town their pricing on herbs are almost $2.00 less then Home Depot and or Lowe's these days, and they look so much better. Christiana's might be cheaper but the lack of thickness and fullness of their herbs are just putting you behind by a month or more. Trust me, go look. The organization at Calloways also just makes it easier to find the herbs and flowers quickly and easily compared to big box stores. The variety is unmatched at this location, Custer location and the North Plano location as well. I shop all locations as I look for the most beautiful flowers I can find. Calloways has come a long way over the decades. They have now become some of the most competitive flowers, herbs and vegetables specialists with great overall value. Go give them a try and if you have go back and try them again after you shop those big store brands. Be sure to sign up for their deals and email notifications. Better value than big chain corporate america garden center nearby. Real savings here. But taking off one star because store layout is confusing. You need map to find things inside. The floor staff couldn't help me find stuff. Plants aren't labeled, prices aren't posted. But if you can handle that, the savings at check out are worth the extra effort. read more

The service is always good at this location. The staff is very knowledgeable, and the selection of plants are always really nice. So sad!!! I used to live to come to Calloway's for inspiration and to find beautiful plants. They have done away with the pots that they used to have around the nursery for inspiration. This has been my store since I moved to Plano, TX in the 1980's. I love the ntire staff they are my go to family for plants, trees, hedges, annuals, perenialls and meyer lemon trees lus pretty containers. I admire their work ethic, passion for what they do with a limited staff, COVID, summer heat, winter cold and sometimes very limitedd plants but they are back and wonderful.. I love being part of their garden club if there is a problem they fix it and that is a great program. I will always bring in my things and they are always so nice. They wil pack up my car or in this case they delivered. This time I needed some help and I picked out plants and boxwood with soil and annuals for Masters Touch to place and plant. They arived promptly as everyone had trouble with the wireless network with ATT today but I worked with the store, Emma and Rivas Landscaping had show up with plants in hand. Rivas Landscaping did an outstanding job! Julio and Sebastian have hands of gold and know their business. They are so kind, smart, knowledgable and the best! Between me, them, my housekeeper we all agreed on the locations and they did an outstanding job! The landscaping is fresh, creative, pretty and now my home feels like it is actually alive with color including herb gardens they paced in Ballard light weight 5 foot containers. I have been in Calloway's fan for years. Honestly the selection that they provide really cannot be beat by anyone in the Metroplex. Whether it's a seasonal thing that you are looking for a perennial or an annual plant or tree if it grows in Texas they probably have it available to you. I have also been impressed every time I have come here by the knowledge of the staff. Many of their staff members are Master Gardeners and are able to give you advice for any gardening problem or solution that you might be looking for. Another nice touch that Calloway's does is they always have bottles of cold water on hot Texas spring and summer days. There is no charge for them and they're usually located right inside the front door. I also suggest that you join their gardening club. It allows them the ability to track your purchases so that if you need to return anything for any reason they do not have to have your receipt. Being a member also extends a warranty upon the plants that you purchase from them. I have only ever had to you use the warranty one time because every plant that I have gotten from them has been healthy and ready to thrive in my garden. However, being a member also affords you weekly emails that give your substantial savings on your purchases in their Garden Center. We chose Calloways because they provide a full service nursery. We got help with landscape design, clean-up after years of none (the whole office came to help!), and installation of the final product after much planning, deliberation on pricing and plant types, and design. The whole crew was friendly and helpful, trying to make the experience perfect---with a special shout-out to Emily for design. Also for Jordan whose onsite creativity during planting helped pull things together. Jeff and the landscape crew were awesome in laying the walkway, and in rock and plant placement. Kara was the initial leader in the process who followed through with all the leg work and with whom I will happily continue to work into the future to maintain and preserve our results. I would be more pleased with some plants if I had picked them myself since I did not personally choose them. Not to despair! Calloways will trade up for the difference in pricing! I called ahead today to confirm my plants were in stock and the price, yet the pricing information I was given was completely inaccurate, nothing was even in the low ball price range I was given and hadn't been. When I arrived the herbs I was looking for were spread out and the pricing was unmarked except for a sign more than twelve feet away with no information on plant type, height or weight the amount went with, just a price. I asked an employee named Kirsten, (sp?) to confirm the price and the 12 feet she had to walk to help me clearly upset her. Her attitude could best be described as angry. I asked if this was the only herb of this kind she had and she said if it's not on the table we don't have it. I explained the man on the phone said there were 3 kinds this morning so I'm trying to locate them or see if they sold out in two hours. Another customer overheard and said she found two at the end of the table (misplaced from the rest). Kirsten condescending said to me, "see if you read the label you'll see information about the plant" (ignoring that I had looked for a while before I asked for help and these were out of place, and belittling me like an ignorant child.) As she walked away she exclaimed to the other customers when she thought I couldn't hear that, "He should learn how to read." Followed by a chuckle. When I made it to the counter the checkout lady never said a word until I pointedly asked her how her day was, she says, "FINE!" After she scans my items, 3 other female employees walk up and they start talking with their backs to me as I wait. She tells them both "Well I'm not leaving, he'll have to just make me leave!!" She hands me my receipt without even turning or looking in my direction. I say, "thank you ladies!" and not one bothered to respond or even acknowledge my existence. I'll absolutely never shop at Calloway's again and I'll be sure to tell all my gardening friends. read more

I wanted to send a live plant to my aunt while she was recovering from surgery. I ordered from a different place who totally let me down and didn't deliver the plant! Calloway's came to the rescue! I am out of state and so the sales associate spent a lot of time with me over the phone to help me pick out the perfect plant. He gave great advice on which rose bush to pick, planted it in a decorative pot, and timed the delivery for my uncle's lunch break so my aunt can rest. He looked up my aunts name in their rewards program so she got points for my purchase. I can't say enough good things or say how much his help and kindness meant to me. I wish I could be with my family during this time but can't because of covid so being able to do something nice meant so much and I couldn't have done it without calloways! read more

This is a good sized nursery with a big selection. We came in looking for a Christmas tree after we struck out at Lowe's and Home Depot. Calloways had a huge section of flocked and unflocked trees. They were all ranging in sizes and incredibly full. We saw very few with bald spots. Their trees are on the pricier end compared to other places. You'll end up paying double what you would at Home Depot or Lowes. They will deliver the tree to you for $20 within 3-5 days of your selection and purchase. We chose to just take it with us and save the $20. Overall I was pretty happy with our purchase. The tree we brought home was absolutely beautiful. It stood about 9 ft tall and a good 4+ft across. My only complaint would be lack of service. We had to wander around to find someone to help us. The first guy that helped us acted as if we were a huge burden. The second guy was great but I actually had to track him down after the first guy disappeared on me. Overall I'll likely return for any gardening needs we have. read more

They lost their lease due to the impending construction nearby in Addison. Mixed feeling about this one. Location/selection a plus. I couldn't find a common bush and tried to get assistance at the register. The lady quickly told me "nope we don't have that...no other stores have that". Another employee walked by and said it was available somewhere in the back. I just didn't like how that convo went. I'm a big plant fan so when walking into Callaways nursery it really is a sight to see, lovely healthy plants, a huge selection of pots and any and every gardening tools. The main reason I wanted to write a review was to express my opinion & warn others about the EXTREMELY overpriced plants!! The plants sold here are lovely don't get me wrong, but VERY overpriced - for example the smallest succulent which comes in an extremely tiny plastic cup is priced at $3.99, The next succulent size up is the typical small plastic cup that succulents are usually sold in at any store you go to & that runs at $6.99! The succulents priced at $3.99 & $6.99 are are relatively similar in size & honestly have the same size succulent just a slightly and I mean slightly larger cup it's sold in. If you want the next larger size up which is significantly larger than the last two is priced at $16.99 & roughly has a diameter of maybe 10". So overall it is very tough having to walk into such a beautiful nursery just to get your hopes up when you realize the five small plants you picked out end up totaling to over a $100 & you can't afford to even buy a pot to put them in. I also want to thank one of the employees at Callaway's nursery named Chris who was so kind and very helpful. Chris had A great personality and was eager to assist me, he wasn't just a great employee he was a kind human being and Calloways nursery is lucky to have him as a part of their team, it was the highlight of my trip! read more

I should have read previous reviews before stopping in. Like many other reviewers, I have to agree that the staff I encountered were of no help at all. I came in for a bark/soil/moss mix to repot 2 orchids I have at home. No one offered assistance and I was there 20 minutes. When I asked where the plastic pots were for orchids with holes all along the sides, the blonde, short haired last just said, "We don't have any." Terrible customer service. I ended up buying two ceramic pots and even had to ask for a bag for them bc they weren't going to give me one. They sure hate lifting a finger here. Won't be back. read more

This staff is the most unhelpful, try to avoid eye contact, and only speak when spoken to staff I have ever seen. I asked the young kid at the front where a certain plant was and he pointed over in that general direction, which was not close. So I assumed he was a cashier and couldn't leave his spot, so after finally finding a suitable plant after having to google in the store since no help was available, I went back to him to ring me out... oh no he's not a cashier. Love Calloways but this location is not so great. Selections are pretty good but hard to get help on the floor. Also seems prices are higher here than others. Cashiers are always very sweet and helpful. Although, this past Saturday while checking out, there was an extremely obnoxious man yelling in the intercom speaker and snapping at the employees. I guess he was the manager?? He put on quite a show demanding that one of his employees "get up to the front immediately" on the intercom while one of the cashiers told him calmly that the employee in question was at lunch. The plants and the prices are what you'd expect from a local chain plant reseller. However, the staff at this location is no help at all. The cashier closed a register as I was walking up. He then walked to another without saying a word. Just stared at me. So I went to that register and he never said a word.... The whole time. This location tends to be an active and busy Calloway's, with a constant traffic of customers and flora. Whenever I'm in the area hitting the nursery and big box store across the highway, I make it a point to drop in here. Especially when shopping for unique specimens, this particular location has better-than-average levels of inventory. The news of this location's closing might be premature (see earlier Yelps)...given that I've visited it several times over the last few years and as recently as this past weekend. As with many Calloway's locations, they offer gardening help and host workshops for the novice and amateur gardener. Always keep an eye on their website and social pages for sales and good end-of-season deals. read more

I went on a Saturday afternoon, there were hardly any customers and many employees, none of them offered me help and when I would walk up to them to ask for help they would immediately walk away pretending they didn't see me. I struggled to pick up a planter to place it on a cart and no one offered to help me. They all seemed very busy doing something other than helping customers. Very disappointed. read more

Every visit my daughter and I would make a trip to Callaway's. You have such a nice store and selection of plants. Your prices are a little higher, but you offer a quality product.
