About 3 years ago, Calloway's and its subcontractor removed the roots from a Live Oak that was previously cut down by another contractor. I informed Calloways that I wanted the yard "Golf Course" smooth/level when they installed the Zeon Zoysia. Instead, what I got is a Lumpy uneven yard preventing me from using a new McLain reel mower specifically purchased to cut the Zoysia grass. They refused to correct the problem and put the blame on its subcontractor and wanted me to pay an additional $750. Currently looking for a competent yard leveling contractor to finish the job. Calloway's is usually a good visit, unless it's in the winter on the rare day when temperatures drop below freezing and all of the plants are huddled in the greenhouses trying to stay warm, which was today. I really wanted to drop by and see what trees they might have in stock, which for Feb is very limited. Most trees and bushes I'm told will start dropping in March. Staff is always pleasant regardless of the day. Always happy with the location, and I like the plants they normally have, that are healthy and strong, and carry a 1 year warranty. read more

What a wonderful experience! Flower Mound store is where we shopped. A lady named Leslie (I think was her name) was so amazingly helpful! I needed advice on what I thought was an aphid infestation for my bushes and she confirmed that was what I had. She directed me to a product to buy and also a fertilizer for my bushes. She was very knowledgeable and so helpful. She told me that she had already punched out from work butt she was still willing to help a customer after her shift! Wow! We will be back to purchase more bushes and trees for our new house very soon. Love this place! read more

There is just something about this place that instantly motivates me when I step inside to become that expert gardener who cultivates the most beautiful, lush garden that friends and neighbors will all envy. Alas, I'll need a MUCH greener thumb for that to ever happen! Nevertheless, Calloway's has everything from trees, shrubs and flowers, to houseplants, herbs and vegetables. The layout can be somewhat overwhelming at first but it's actually very well organized and conducive to browsing/exploring. Furthermore, there are always staff members available to point you in the right direction if necessary or offer advice. I find that they carry better quality plants that are typically healthier and hardier than ones I get from Lowes or Home Depot. The only downside is that they can be a bit pricey. read more

Leslie and Mike always help me and they were friendly as usual but I had a weird encounter with another employee that I had never seen before. We came to look at and then buy a buda fountain that was $899. We asked about delivery and they directed me to an older man with a white beard. When asked if the delieved he 1st said no then said "we will but it will cost you a $100.00. I was surprised considering the cost of the fountain and I said that I thought the would deliver. I went to this nursery with a family member with a very specific type of plant in mind. Not wanting to wander, we asked an employee where this type was located. He dismissively pointed to the area, then went back to cleaning. Ok, no big deal, I'll go to that general area. We found the succulents, which was only one table. Maybe there was another area? Not sure and didn't have the time to wander around the entire nursery. I found the general idea I had in mind, which was great. However, I was not anticipating the price tag associated with them. With succulents, it isn't as though these plants need tons of care, not to mention these plants were not started from seeds at this nursery. Paying $8 for the smallest plant was a bit steep, and as they got bigger the price tag followed. Anyway, we ended up grabbing 5 of the smallest cacti/succulents on the table. $35 later (after a military discount), we left. The cashier was nice though. I'm not sure if I will be back, even though the nursery is very pretty. I just can't rationalize paying as much as I did here for plants I could've gotten at another location for half as much (and same brand too, as I checked). read more

Most of the time any of the staff will be happy to give you personalized advice, but if they are really busy and the place is crowded they may not have the amount of time you need. You can always go back at a less busy time. They have monthly plant specials and other sales on the most popular flowering plants for the weather. Most of the employees I've spoken to at this location were quite knowledgeable and spent a decent amount of time answering my questions. You will occasionally get a couple of employees who disagree on the right answer to a question so that's a little weird (like if a plant is safe outdoors during a frost), but overall I'm grateful for all the info they take the time to give me. The location is beautiful and they have a HUGE selection of both plants and pots. I also love their lifetime guarantee on plants. I've had to take them up on that offer a few times when a plant didn't make it. It's super easy to get credit for anything that has died. read more

Lovely nursery and beautiful pots. We purchased a few plants and pots. Unfortunately my excitement went downhill when I asked young cashier with ring nose where I can find potting soil. This was our first time at this nursery and I told him that, because he looked at me like I am bothering him with question. Then my daughter asked the other cashier, lady, if it's ok to leave pot there she decided to not purchase but didn't want to leave it randomly outside. I've been a customer of this Calloway's for about 12 years and used to love the customer service, layout of the store, everything. I have no idea what's happened here, but it's just not the same. Over the last several years Ty (manager) has been less and less of a fixture and has been replaced w a slew of unhelpful employees. As someone else mentioned, they are often conflicting in their information from one person to the next IF you can get someone to answer questions. I long for the days of the knowledgeable Ty that would greet you w a friendly "hello" across the garden area. Oh well. So for anyone looking... Treeland Nursery in Gunter is a fantastic place for trees! It's a bit of a drive but they'll give you a golf cart to run around in on the farm so you can pick out the exact tree you want. You tag it and they'll deliver and plant it. The prices are hands down the best I've found in the area and the experience is fun imo. Looking for knowledgeable help, suggestions, and an amazing selection of plants, including native Texas plants? Go to North Haven Gardens. Also a bit of a hike, but without the frustration of poor to no customer service or disappointment! Both are family owned and run. We also use Lowe's for our basics and everything has been great, in spite of what Calloways staff will tell you about the quality. Without Calloway's I'm back to the pleasure of spending time shopping for my plants and flowers and return happy and ready to garden! read more

My husband and I just went to Calloway's to buy plants for our new home in the Highland Village area. We were very excited to but a ficus to complete our formal living space. We walked into Calloway's and not one person acknowledged us. We walked around looking for planters, not one person spoke to us. We went into the "indoor plants" green house where an employee came in made eye contact with me and turned left to the white couple and asked them if they were finding everything ok and walked out. We left the green house and stood in the middle of the courtyard next to the same employee while googling if we can find these same plants at Lowe's. He greeted another white couple while we stood there seemingly invisible. We knew there would be challenges moving into such a homogenous neighborhood but...wow. It's extremely disappointing. Calloway's...we are part of your community too. We always try to support small businesses. This is my first 1 star review ever. But I thought it required the time. The pictures below are what we intended to buy. We put some of these things in our cart then put them back. As we left, we passed another employee who didn't even say "Goodbye". Worst customer service experience today (9/29/17) after over 4 years of shopping here. 2 employees could not be bothered to stop their personal conversation to assist me, until my third "excuse me, could I please get some help." It went downhill from there. Apparently, my interruption of their personal conversation was too much, because then each spoke to me with a negative tone. My question required one of them to look something up. Instead of one looking up the answer and the other helping the customer waiting behind me, I was told to step aside so they could check the customer behind me out, and then they would come back to my needs. This continued with more tone and more negative treatment. I notified an assistant manager, explained what happened and left. Sad; two employees could create such a terrible experience for a long time customer. read more

We were referred by our local Calloway's to the Flower Mound location because we were told they had the plant we were looking for in inventory. However in calling the Flower Mound location before making the drive, the store told us they did not have any. They even told us they were none within 100 miles. We called again, after speaking with another location that told us FM has them, and asked them to confirm what product they search and they again stated they have none. After driving to north Plano to try to purchase the plant (theirs were in bad shape), we drove to FM to look for ourselves. Just as the other stores told us, we found they had 4-5 In stock. Flower Mound store is bad customer service, despite driving and calling all over town, they do not care. Although the store is beautiful and the plants are in good condition, their customer service is lacking. read more

Best customer service ever! Very knowledgeable & friendly staff... A+ A+ Beautiful selection of flowers, trees and shrubs throughout most the year, Lowes and Home Depot may have some of the common plants that Calloway's has but no one else has their warranty. If it's dead or just looks ratty, they will replace or refund with a receipt and a smile. No deadlines either. The layout of the grounds under all those trees makes it a place you want to stay just because of the surroundings. Even in 100 degree weather! Just wish they'd have a few more Texas natives... Worst Christmas tree in years! Completely dry and will barely make it until Christmas. Only 2.5 weeks old and watered daily. Last time we will ever buy here. I have always been a Calloway's fan, but this particular location is wonderful. The lavender that I purchased there two years ago is still going strong in my garden, and this is after several attempts (and failures) from other nurseries. I also purchased all of the herbs for my rock garden there last year, and with the help of the staff picked the perfect items for the location of the garden and companion plants that help each other thrive. This is an amazing nursery to even just meander around - every season of the year - you will learn something new! read more
