Do not shop here! Called to surf in store purchases return policy is ridiculous. If I had known that you only get store credit I would have never purchased it. They really need to tell everyone at the time of purchase while in their store that the in the store return policy is different than the online return policy and that you won't be getting your money back if the item doesn't work out. read more

One star is too many. The quality of the clothing is extremely cheap, they have a terrible return policy, they don't return emails and charge $11 for returns even if the item of clothing has a mistake. The offer a $6 service to pick it up at your door in addition to the $11. On their website they don't say where the clothing is made or what it's made of and then charge too much for what the dress actually is. I am a seamstress and I would be embarrassed to use the materials they sell. They don't back their items up. You are better off buying anywhere else. I feel like I got scammed. Nice store, somehow remind me a little bit like Anthropologie store, with those long dresses, floral and vaporous and organized by colors...plus the similar smell of candles. Found the prices a bit high but lots of sales going on as well. The name is kind of strange because initially I was expecting to find a surf kind of shop like the ones in SoCal, but it is just a big boutique with the usual dresses, generic jewelry, good smelling candles and stationery. Do NOT order from this company online. When I ordered the website said returns/exchanges can be made within 2 weeks. One item did not fit and when I tried to return it the system magically changed the item to *final sale/no refund.* I know this dress did not say it was a final sale when I ordered it (another item did and I took note of that when ordering). These are the CUTEST and prettiest frocks and gowns that ever CUTED! My adult daughter and I are thrilled with our purchases, which we are wearing to Mass at The Cathedral of the Madeleine on Easter in Salt Lake City. This store has some great things but if you buy some bring and change your mind be prepared to only get store credit back. This is a bad policy. This is an outdated policy. When shopping for kids especially we tend to buy a few different options and try them on at home and then return the one we didn't like. Don't fall for this trap! This is 2019... there are other options. Shop somewhere else. They will allow to get a refund if you make an order online which makes absolutely no sense from a customer service stand point. Never have I seen such a poor return policy. I purchased clothes for my daughters birthday from a very helpful gal in the Provo store. A few items didn't fit her taste so we brought them back to the Lehi store the very next day, and the store refused to give us a refund. Clothes were full price, never worn, a gift, only bought one day before and I had all of my receipts in hand. They would only offer store credit or exchanges, and only within 2 weeks. Their cheapest T-shirt is $30.00 so its not that they have small margins either. I can maybe understand the two weeks if they've had some challenges but.... no refunds at all? However, the same sales person said that if you order something on line they might give you a refund if you pass a long inspection process (according to the sales person). I've never purchased from a store with such a policy and never will again. So disappointed. Not recommended. read more

I was looking for a dress to wear this summer and stumbled upon Called to Surf on Instagram. I bought the Whittier wrap dress on the website. Even with the pandemic going on it still shipped to me in Michigan in a week. The dress is so soft and is flowy and a great length. The color is a bit more pink than the cream i expected but I'll still keep it. Im actually going to buy the dress in the blue option because I liked it so much. My experience with customer service was pretty good. I reached them through insta and they got back to me in less than an hour. The prices are a bit high but id say the quality is worth it. I went back in January and asked if I could exchange, was told they couldn't help me because it had been over 14 days... such crappy quality especially since they were $60 didn't even last through the season. My biggest complaint is the staff at the Lehi store. They are so rude! They just sit behind the counter and chat, then act annoyed if you ask for help. They should hire older, more mature people, especially for the manager position! They charged me wrong for an in store purchase, so I asked for a refund, and the worker told me they can't do refunds, even though it was their mistake! Worst customer service I have EVER experienced! I purchased multiple dresses online to try out colors and sizes and ended up returning all of them. I was sent photos of "damage" and was told the dresses could not be returned. I couldn't even talk to an actual person - it was all over email. What kind of online store doesn't allow returns and claims damage that was clearly done on their end?? I had loved this store prior despite how expensive it is compared to other local boutiques. After this awful experience I will NEVER shop in this store or recommend this shop to anyone! So disappointed and furious that I now have 5 dresses I don't even want. I'm so confused by the order I received. I ordered gifts online for Mother's Day from Called to Surf. They just got here, and when I removed the tag from a small ring dish, an Altar'd State sticker was underneath it, scratched off, like they were trying to hide that they were re-selling products. Do they have a deal with Altar'd State? Or did they really just buy merchandise from them, take off the stickers, and resell the products on their website? Seems a little odd to me!! Just remember to double check your clothing for the magnets, so that if are from somewhere... say... 800 miles away, you won't have to give the article of clothing to a friend in hopes they'll go to the store for you to have the magnet strip removed. Called to Surf carries my favorite swimwear AND has the best customer service I have experienced while shopping online. Roxanne exceeds my expectations and her follow through surpasses any I have experienced. I was looking for the newest line of Kortni Jeane swimwear and happened to get Roxanne on the other end of the phone. They did not have what I was looking for on their webpage. However, she got it for me and more. She texted me to say it was ready to ship AND actually shipped it way sooner than I anticipated. I highly recommend Called to Surf. They are just dandy! They have cute things, could be less money for some, but have always been friendly to me when I go. They try hard to keep things restocked according to demands. My wife bought 300.00 worth of clothes and wanted to return a few so ended up getting 80.00 in store credit. Well.. we just found out that you cant even use that on the Called to Surf online store. I ordered a dress from the called to surf website that was the wrap top dress in steel blue. On the item description page the only size references they give are for the bust so I ordered a small since that's what measurement matched my size. I received the dress today and out of the package, the color is beautiful! However when I put it on, the waist was significantly smaller than the bust measurement given and has no stretch in the fabric. I will need to return the dress since it would be uncomfortable to move in. I also have a shorter torso and this dress was definitely made for someone 5'5" or taller (I'm 5'2"). The waist of the dress when put around my natural waist made the rest of the top bunch up and sag. I really wished this dress worked. This all could have been avoided if the website included more than just one measurement to refer to when ordering online! read more

Really cute clothes but I, too, had a bad experience with the customer service here... and from a manager none the less. She was snappy and rude about a discounted dress I asked about that was not only damaged but also super dirty on the bottom. I was simply and kindly asking what the dress was discounted for and she did offer a little more of a discount for the dirtiness, but was really rude about it and walked off before I could finish talking to her. I felt like she reacted poorly and I wasn't even being rude. And I know rude. I've worked in retail, and I try really hard to not be a difficult customer and know I wasn't being one. Anyway- like I said, super cute stuff but a weird return policy and not my best experience in customer service. Extra disappointing because the woman (manager) who was rude to me should have been leading out her team with kindness toward her customers. Such a bummer. read more

I recently bought a dress from this store and it was in perfect condition upon purchase. After I had worn it for the first time I noticed that there was a 2 inch rip in the side of the dress. After sowing it back together, I wore it for the second time and as I was reaching for something I heard the dress rip on the other side of the dress. I looked and saw another 2 inch rip. When I went to sow that side of the dress I noticed there was also another 4 inch rip by the armpit of the dress. My dress now has three rips in it after only wearing it two times. This was the first time I have ever bought something from this store and I am very disappointed with the quality of the dresses. I invested in a dress that only lasted me two days. read more
