Nothing. They don't say a single word to you. The cashiers are unfriendly, and act like they hate being there. They also shove everything you buy into one sack. When I was just there, I was buying breakable items. The male cashier just tossed them into the bag along with everything else. Not caring at all he was going to break what I was buying. Also, when I was just there, there was a man standing by the outside entrance bugging everyone for money. Customers don't want to get harassed by panhandlers. The managers should tell panhandlers to leave, or call the police on them.

I first came to this store in the late '80s or early '90s when it was All-A-Dollar and the concept was novel and new. And here we are some 30 years later and they're still peddling the wares for a buck. Over the years, they've moved a little farther towards food and maybe not so much home stuff, and with inflation being what it is, they're really facing a crisis of character. You have loads of party supplies and knick knack for a buck, but they're going to have to keep converting to more-than-a-buck items if they're going to move forward into the future. Right now, it's a haven for those seasonal goods--Santa hats, plastic dishes, temporary decor--they've got it in spades. But as a part of a weekly or monthly shopping routine, I don't think it's a place I ever just swing by to check out. But still, it's always been a good candy stop. In my younger days I would stop in for pre-movie candy (shoutout Sandy Starship Theater!) and the fond memories are plentiful.

So much variety and toys that you wish you had a bottomless wallet to take them all home. Even the "cheapo" niknaks are so cool! And you want games? Tons of such interesting games. Again, would love to buy all of them and then somehow find time to play them all. Figurines, die cast cars, outdoor toys, collectables, of course Lego sets, etc. etc. etc. Such great inventory. Stuff you can't find anywhere else. They have a frequent buyers program, too, to earn points and discounts. They do kid workshops. I recently took my granddaughter to make a Lego race car and she got to keep the car. They do free gift wrapping. If you want even more fancier wrapping paper, there is a nominal charge, but I've always found that their free gift wrap is absolutely fine. Been there several times, but each time I always end up spending a long time looking at stuff and finding things I never saw before. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about their inventory and can come up with suggestions if you are looking for something in particular. Great for adults and kids! 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

My first experience with AJ sports was a couple weeks ago when I came in to buy my kids their first skis. Everyone was helpful and left me feeling like this was a place I could trust. I came back today with the hand me down skis/boots I inherited over a decade ago. I told the staff I had no idea if they were good, or if I needed to get something newer. Beau immediately stepped up and said he'd be happy to help. He spent the next hour with me looking over options at all different price points, pointing out the differences between his recommendations for my ability level. He took the time to not only answer all my questions, but educate me on a sport I didn't grow up around. He was patient and considerate, and listen to me as I voiced certain concerns about some of the options. I ended up walking out with new (to me) skis, poles, boots, and a handful of accessories for me and my kids, with zero buyers remorse. I feel like I'm set up to have a successful ski season for many years to come, and look forward to enjoying the sport much more with myyoung family.
