Passing through and was intrigued by this place. I am so happy I went, it was absolutely incredible. I placed an order online to go, which was super easy. I got the platter with chicken and brisket, sides: chili and pickles with a sweet potato biscuit. Do not skip the brisket and chili, both were my favorite and I highly recommend. Moist, well cooked and the chili was loaded! Also the portions were huge. I would definitely go back and there is plenty of seating instead as an option too. Clean, attentive staff. We choose BBQ because usually those who do it do it really well. Not here. We literally didn't eat most/all the food and didn't take a single to go box. So disappointing. Between us we had pulled pork, brisket, salt potatoes (not like we're used to!!), BBQ beans that were not edible, cornbread (edible but seriously lacking). All around awful meal. This was my first time trying this place since the new owners took over. It was refreshing to smell the same smell as I remember it having from years past, that smokehouse kind of smell. I got my order to go, a Carolina Wrap, with Mac, and a side of broccoli salad. The wrap was very good, I was quite impressed honestly, the wrap itself was garlic herb and is a good compliment to what inside, pulled pork, coleslaw, and baked beans. I was very happy with the wrap, I felt it was an excellent combination. The only reason I didn't give them a 5 is I thought the sides could be better, they weren't terrible by any means, just thought they could be a little better. Best BBQ I've had in a long time! Our family loved everything we ordered. Their BBQ chicken, pulled pork and pulled chicken are all excellent, and I like their spicey BBQ sauce which is made in house. My husband had a side of cajun sausage with his meal and said that was excellent. Their home made side dishes are yummy, too. We had macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, and baked beans. I really have mixed feelings about this BBQ joint. On the up side it's really nice and welcoming inside. The staff is friendly, there's lots of room and places to sit and it's well designed with pictures and things on the walls to look at. The down side, however unfortunate, is the food. After all, food is what this place is really about and therefor I just can't give it a high rating. I tend to want to try as much of the offerings as possible so I went straight for the triple sampler. I ordered biscuit, pulled pork, and upgraded for $3 to the baby back ribs. This also came with your choice of two sides and your choice from three breads including cornbread, sweet potato biscuits, or a dinner roll. I went with the cornbread, baked beans, and a cup of the soup of the day. I started with the soup, white chicken chili. It seemed to have chunks of all white meat, and I appreciated that. It had a little heat to it, and that was good as well. Aside from that, it lacked real flavor. Now the best part, meat! I dove into the biscuit and it was delish! It was tender and juicy, thin cut into strips and lightly basted with sauce. I was actually really impressed. Having had Texas biscuit in Texas, this is saying a lot. It's not Texas biscuit with the hot spicy rub turning into bark in the smoker, but this was still good in a much more subtle way. That's when my joy ended. I didn't enjoy anything else. The ribs tasted as if they were from the week prior. The meat was very dried out and flavorless. They don't remove the membrane either so it was tough as well. The pulled pork was a first for me as it wasn't pulled, it was processed with a machine somehow. It was more of a "ground" pork. Tiny pieces rather then long strips and chunks like I'm used to. It was also obviously stored in liquid, this just made it mushy. It was just really odd. The beans were uneventful and the cornbread was so dry I think there were more crumbs on the table then what actually made it to my mouth. Overall I'd stay away from this one. If you do happen to check it out in the winter be very careful as the parking lot was a solid sheet of ice. It hadn't snowed in over 24 hours, roads were all clear until you pulled into their driveway. Inexcusable in my book, it's only a matter of time before somebody gets hurt. read more

Meah, BBQ has been a long time favorite for us. Callear's hasn't quite figured it out yet. I wonder if these reviews mean much to them, IDK. My standard order of pulled pork w/ slaw was just okay. The cornbread was way too dry. The wife ordered the BBQ Chicken Salad - no complaints. Okay, she enjoyed it. The Sweet Ice Tea was kinda weak for my taste. I drew a beautiful picture with the large assortment of crayons on the butcher paper. They taped it to the wall. We'll be going back in a couple of days to try other items from the menu. read more

This place has a decent atmosphere the sweet tea is true sweet tea. By far the best BBQ I have tasted in pa since I moved here almost a year ago from MIssissippi. Update: I have been here a few times now and have found some flaws. The brisket is dry and no smoke ring to be found (mark of truely good brisket). Corn nuggets are my favorite side. Well me and my wife just had lunch here we both were hungry for BBQ so I have never been so we stopped in to try it out. I had the baby back ribs and my wife had the pulled pork sandwich. The food was ok not the best ribs or pulled pork we have ever had I would say just ok nothing special about either on. Ribs for $15 bucks I would think would be more then a half rack ok for lunch but not dinner. My wife's pulled pork was warm not hot but ok to eat. Again this place is ok for BBQ nothing special. Mixed bag... I loved the food, my wife didn't so much. I got a 2-meat combo. The brisket was tender and well-flavored. I have had better BBQ pork, but this wasn't bad at all. The "Tongue Tickler" sauce was spicy, but not overwhelming, and added a nice kick to everything. The chili was spicy and delicious. My wife got pulled pork nachos. She had a point when she said the pork was homemade, and even the tortilla chips were fresh baked, so why put Cheez Whiz all over the nachos? I am from Philly, and I like Whiz on a cheesesteak as much as the next person, but I agree they could have used real Cheddar here. pretty decent place to eat. i had no idea a place like this existed in the valley but i was in the area for work training recently and found this place via google. the place is pretty cool, good ambiance for a BBQ place. the service was good too, people were very friendly. as for the food, it was ok. nothing amazing but better than a lot of places i've had. the ribs were a little dry but they had good flavor. the brisket was tender but a little on the dry side and had too much smoke flavor on it. after handling it my hands smelled like charcoal! the chicken was very good. not much smoke flavor on it but the texture was perfect. the sauces were ok, nothing i'd ever have a craving for. the sides were ok. the mac n cheese had a good texture and the flavor wasn't bad but it could have used a little something extra, same with the potato salad. i love good bread, but their dinner roll wasn't very good, i didn't even finish the whole thing. the bread on the sandwich i got wasn't very good either. i had a ham sandwich and the ham didn't seem smoked, it was just thinly sliced ham with something other than their regular BBQ sauce on it. i liked the different sauce though. this place is pretty cool, and i'm known to go out of my way for BBQ, but i don't think this is a place i'd go out of the way for. if i'm in that area again though i would definitely go back. read more

I must admit that I am southern gent, so I take my barbecue rather seriously! Let's talk the high points first... Atmosphere of the restaurant was great, server was friendly and was greeting people as they came in....very polite and attentive. The potatoes, mac and cheese, and the sweet tea were spot on, especially the sweet tea. Very good! Now let's move onto the medium items, or as we say in the south "mee-jum". The pulled pork seem to actually be tossed in a sauce already, which is a little bit of a no-no in my book... The meat should be juicy and tender and stand on its own, and just be complemented by a good sauce. That being said it definitely wasn't bad, but average. The brisket had some good flavor, but was a little bit dry... Probably because it was sliced really thin and also grilled. Again, not bad, but just average. All right y'all, now is the time where we move onto the "bless yo' heart" section. If you don't know what that means that means you probably haven't spent enough time in the south, which means you probably haven't had good barbecue and will disagree with everything else I've said anyways... So bless yo heart. The St. Louis style ribs were some of the driest I've ever had... Definitely not fall off the bone more like, "take your fork and try to pry away from the bone". It appeared they had been cooked far, far too long. There wasn't any fat at all with the meat... Which meant it stayed in the smoker or under the heat for way too long. The sweet potato biscuit was probably delicious after it was made, but the one that I got hit obviously been reheated and wasn't fresh at all. They did serve it with honey though, which is definitely southern. So in conclusion my experience was average! Nice people, nice place but it definitely didn't leave me saying I'd be back! read more

Very Disappointing Experience tonight!!!!!! My husband wanted to go there for dinner, and I agreed, didn't feel like fast food...have been here 2 previous times. We decided we would dine on the back deck since it was a nice evening out and it was crowded and noisy inside...after going inside we went out and sat for at least 5 minutes at which time I mentioned to my husband we should let them know we're out here...even though we were there the previous week and sat out there and didn't have to go and find anyone to wait on us. My husband went inside and let the waitress know we were sitting outside and she told him she would be right out...well, needless to say we sat waiting for another 10 minutes with no sign of her, or anyone else for that matter...and so we got up and left...we won't be going back anytime soon!!!! The food is okay...the first time there I made the mistake of ordering potato salad...it was horrible...yellow and runny...ordered the Cole slaw the second time...it was not chopped up fine like I like it...and to be honest I like the Cole slaw at KFC better!! My husband and I have ordered tossed salad there and the portions are very small...all of their sides are. I agree with one of the previous reviews about using the butcher paper as a table cover...scratchy on the elbows!! The back deck has a lot to be desired as far as seating goes...dirty, grungy-looking tables (they should clip tablecloths on them so they can be properly wiped down) the chairs aren't very comfortable and are bulky and hard to pull up to the table.
