Colorful, friendly and delicious. The inside is colorful, the staff working is very friendly and the food is; you guessed it. DELICIOUS! Total cost for lunch including drinks came to $31. Huge, huge, huge portions. The red ketchup looking container is the hot sauce. We were warned and she was right!

This place is simply awesome! The flavors, the portions, the freshness...everything was just YUM! My whole family was so happy with our meal that it is definitely going to be a staple for us. The California sampler can surely feed 2 adults with a little to spare. The cheesy fries were crispy and extra special. I have no cons. That's it. Period.

I love California Taco. I had never been to this location in Johnston but it was very nice. The people are always friendly and it is a nice clean place to go to. They have a limited menu which is fine with me. Their tacos are inexpensive and yet fresh and delicious. They have hard tacos and soft tacos and salads and chicken wings, so a varied menu. I have never had a bad meal at a California Taco and I was happy to see that there was one in Johnston. We were looking for a small restaurant to give our business to at lunch time and we're lucky enough to find one that we already knew we liked.

From the reviews, I wanted to really enjoy this place. I struggled to order take out over the phone because the woman who took my order couldn't understand me. When I finally was able to order, I picked up the food with a seamless transaction. She was very friendly in person so it made up for the confusion earlier on the phone. I ordered the chorizo burrito. I was disappointed because it tasted more like ground beef than anything. There was barely any salsa, sour cream or beans. I appreciate the plentiful amounts of meat and rice, I just wish there was more of a balance with the other ingredients. I ordered a side of chips and they didn't taste homemade. The churros, however, were delicious. They were cinnamon churros, sprinkled with powdered sugar and a chocolate dip sauce on the side. My mom ordered chicken tacos and she loved them. If I return, I'll try the chicken next time.

I get take out here at least 2 times a week. Awesome food great prices. They have the best tacos!! But my favorite is the home made hot sauce. The owner makes them from scratch. The red is good but the green is my fave. I love the carnitas. Def a must for a quick bite.

Was looking for local delivery and wasn't feeling up for pizza. Luckily California Taco is nearby and willing to deliver! 2 adults and 2 kids were hungry so we ordered a few different things. My sister got a burrito combo and said it was delicious. I ordered the quesadilla combo for the kids. They shared the quesadilla and both ate the whole thing, which is big cause they were scared of the peppers in it at first. Normally they find sauces "too spicy" but they were eating the chips & salsa and asked for more! One of them ate the hard taco too. I ordered the enchilada combo because I was craving some enchiladas. California Taco satisfied my craving! I only ate about half of my meal and was SO FULL. Everything was delicious. I ended up eating the leftovers a few days later and it was just as good. Delivery service was also quick and easy, would definitely order from here again!

Whenever I go to this part of Rhode Island I HAVE to stop at this spot and get food. Having moved to New England from California I NEED tacos and Jarrito's. They've got really good Al Pastor, they're very quick with service and if you have any questions they'll always answer you. The food is very affordable for what you receive, the salsa they have on the table is very good, not too spicy. If you go, don't skip dessert, get some churros and ice cream!

This Mexican food chain is pretty darn good. When I'm in the mood for some taco goodness this has been my spot especially since they have locations pretty much across RI. My favorite is the small soft tacos that's pretty much all I ever get. The marinated pork, chicken and steak are my usuals. The prices are very affordable as well! The chili's that you can get with it are awesome! I They are both very different however the green one is my favorite but I enjoy mixing the both of them together! Not bad for a local taco chain.

2 Chicken Shredded Tacos, of pure deliciousness! Super tasteful and there's a lot going on with the toppings here. The supreme order comes with your choice of protein and of course:shredded cheese, diced tomatoes and sour c.r.e.a.m. Just perfect. The service was fast and definitely worth the price. Lots of selection and variety in the food. Good parking and a place to casually eat in.

Located on a strip off Killingly with a decent amount of parking in the lot. Good looking spot with plenty of seating and a nice large bar. The only thing was that the entrance faced the bar directly where we sat so everytime the door swung open we got a huge gust of wind and a wave of cigarette smoke from the chain gang outside. So I'd suggest sitting further away from the entrance to avoid this. I'm not always the biggest fan of Mexican but wanted to give it a shot and I really enjoyed my experience here! I didn't get her name, but our bartender was phenomenal! She was a little spitfire - great personality and very attentive. You're started off with complementary chips and salsa - chips were a tad salty but were hearty bites, salsa was just ok. We ordered fish tacos and the pollo al gusto. The chicken was a bit on the oily side but was seasoned well and each bacon laced bite paired nicely with a crema sauce (I requested on the side). Fish tacos were very tasty and the chipotle mayo was yummm. Both came with rice, beans, lettuce and pico. We ended our meal with the fried cheesecake, good but not great - it wasn't what we were expecting. We both thought it would some sort of breaded cheesecake fried but it looked like it was in a wrapper of some kind and deep fried. I prob wouldn't get again but glad we tried it. All in all, we really enjoyed our visit, the staff was outstanding - the manager checked in on us a few times and really made us feel welcomed. We will def be back!

We got a homemade pineapple juice and few tacos including chorizo, steal, al pastor, and fish. Fish was not able to be ordered as single for some reason. Pineapple juice was tasty and natural so it wasn't too sweet. It was foamy maybe from blending with blender? The tacos were pretty good. Everything was seasoned well and came with some spicy sauce and lime. Personally I liked the chorizo and fish tacos the most. Steak/al pastor was a tad bit dry but wasn't bad. Service was good. Took a but for food to come out but I can tell they make a lot of things in the restaurant and prepares it after its been ordered. Overall, the place was good. It's a solid Mexican restaurant around the area. I can't say it's the best I've had though as there are a-lot of good competitors in RI. I would get chorizo tacos and their juice again if I come back.

Went here last week for cinco de mayo. I knew it would be busy but decided to give it a try. They…read moresaid it would be a 30ish minute wait. Understandable. BF and I got a couple margs and waited outside. 40 mins goes by so I go in and check. They say it'll be another 20ish mins. 30 mins goes by and they say another 30 mins. Pretty hangry at this point. Again, I get its cinco de mayo. We finally get seated more than an hour and a half later. We order the guac and tortilla chips as an app. Guac wasn't bad. Chips were stale like they were out all day of cinco de mayo. My BF orders steak tacos as his entree. I order the Cochinita Pibil. "Slow cooked pork in achiote. Served with rice, beans and tortillas". We finally get that 30 mins later. His tacos were subpar to say the most. Quote "I wouldn't get tacos here again". My dish was the BLANDEST meal I've ever had in my life. It tasted like nothing. I was visibly upset when the waitress finally walked by 15 mins later and told her I couldn't eat it. She asked if I wanted something else so I told her I'd just have the steak tacos because I was starving at this point. She then asked if I wanted a box for the entree I originally ordered and I said no because it didn't taste good at all and neither of us would eat it. She began to walk away and I politely asked if she would still charge me for the cochinita pibil and she said yes so I told her I wouldn't want anything else and to just give us the check once my bf was done with his meal. She didn't pay attention to me the rest of the time we were there. She did end up charging us for that bland plate. Pretty sad. I regret not asking to talk to someone because I guarantee no one in that kitchen would have enjoyed it either, as they were all Hispanic from what I could tell. I myself am Central American so I know authentic dishes. Sad to say I will not be going back there. Good luck!

Even as an app they're so great. I got the shrimp and a veg recently. I've enjoyed all of the entrees I've ever gotten. Honorable mention is the shrimp Diablo. Super spicy and delightful. The interior is warm, cozy, and a perfect combo of lit enough so you can see but dark enough to set a mood for spilling tea or flirting with your date.
