It's pretty darn spicy! This is hoised in a defunct fast food chain place that they have Re-flagged as a Mexican restaurant. It could use a bit of Maintenance. Inside, it looks pretty worn out. The best things about it are the portion size because the burritos are said to be the biggest in town, and that's probably true. All around ten dollars each, they're a very healthy size. The other good thing is the salsa bar. I thought the whole place skewed really spicy. The pickled onions are too spicy for me to eat as are the pickled carrots. All the Salsas are pretty hot. The prices aren't that great. The police looks dirty. So, three stars is the most I can give it. read more

I've been coming here off and on for about two years, maybe once or twice a year. It's always been just ok. Portions are small for the price, but the quality was usually acceptable. I kept coming back hoping it would improve. Today was a different story. I stopped in on my way to work and ordered a breakfast chorizo burrito, and it was easily the worst food I've had in a long time. The beans tasted old, like they'd been sitting for weeks, and completely overpowered everything else. It was honestly terrible, and the aftertaste lingered (I can still taste how terrible it was). I live in Tacoma, where a new California Burrito recently opened, and the quality there is significantly better. I hope that location maintains its standards, because this one (in Des Moines WA) will never get my money again with their terrible food. read more

Fast Mexican food spot and you get a large amount of food for the price that you pay. Affordable and shareable sizes. I got the carne asada fries and burrito and a lot of sauces came with our order! I also liked their Horchata - it wasn't that thick of a texture however, and it is more on the watered down side. It was refreshing, nonetheless and I would get it again to satisfy Horchata cravings. The workers are friendly and it's overall a reliable fast Mexican food on the go! I live just up the street from this location and used to LOVE going here. The food was good the portions were good and the workers were really sweet. Just a little over a year later I started noticing a steep decline. Finding bones in my food, food tasting old and flavorless, and inattentive staff. I tried one more time tonight and got a shrimp burrito and a bean and cheese burrito. There were still tails attached to the shrimp (which tasted old and rubbery) and the beans and cheese burrito tasted like NOTHING. This place reminded me of a McDonalds inside. My California Burrito (called the Washington Burrito) confused me as this place is literally called, "California Burrito" but doesn't offer them on the menu. If you want one, order the Washington. Beware there is a condiment bar inside, but a lot of the veggies, peppers and salsas are extremely HOT! You have been warned. It takes a good sec to get your food but it's worth the wait and the burrito is the size of your arm. The flavors hit and they don't miss once you get passed the first tortilla fold its on and popping. And their defense I asked for a bean and cheese burrito with extra cheese and can you please throw a few onions on it? I did not ask for extra onions, however. Even if I had asked for extra onions, this is about five times the amount of onions I think, even "extra" would mean. You know, I have such a hard time deciding where I stand with this place. At first, I was over the moon to find a 24-hour taco shop 5 minutes away from my house. But since then, I've come to realize that it's much more of a love-hate relationship than anything. The problem is in the shop's consistency. About 95% of the time, there is some sort of error with my order. One time, they gave us an entirely different order. And this is whether I go through the drive-thru, or I order through a food delivery service. Of course, I could go inside, where they have a great salsa bar. But, since most of the time it rains in Seattle, the drive-thru is much more appealing. I love coming here because the food is delicious. But honestly, it's very obvious that the staff just doesn't care. I'm brown, and I can't tell you how many eye rolls I've gotten when I ask for extra salsa (or any salsa at all).
