3.5 stars. Caliente Pizza & Drafthouse is a local restaurant chain. This particular location is in Ross Township. For many months my husband has driven past this Caliente and expressed interest in eating here. Today we finally ordered pizza from this Caliente. The menu listed starters (e.g., breaded zucchini, pierogies, and tater tots), bread rolls and sticks, pizzas (e.g., gourmet, Brooklyn, Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, pan, and build-your-own), fries, calzones, burgers, wings, hoagies, salads, desserts, and drinks. Through their website, I ordered one large pizza with extra cheese and pepperoni for ~$28 and one medium pizza with green peppers for ~$21. I thought that the pizzas themselves were pricey, and after including a bag fee, delivery fee, service fee, taxes, and tips, the grand total was $69! The delivery driver, who according to the receipt was through DoorDash, was timely and nice. My husband and I immediately ate our two pizzas. They both tasted "good." They were neither bad nor great. read more

The pizza is genuinely good .but the real MVP is their 10 pizzas for $100 coupon book around Christmas. Absolute steal. Tons of specialty pizzas to choose from, so it doesn't get boring. And now that they're conveniently at the bottom of my hill, I've basically committed to trying every single one. They have a great party room for baptisms, communions and baby showers Pro tip: look for the coupons. The deals make great pizza even better. read more

Love this pizza!! There's a reason Caliente's wins awards for their pizza. I got the Detroit Style this time, about the thickness of a pan pizza, cut in rectangular pieces. Start with a nice crunchy crust, burnt cheese around the edges, gooey cheese, a delicious tangy sauce, with a slight kick to it. Toppings were pepperoni, sausage, and onions. A pizza lovers dream!! read more

The calzone and garlic parm bone-in wings were soooo delicious. I ordered thru a delivery service and it was hot and fast. I will definitely order here again read more

Relatively small parking lot on Babcock Blvd. Always seems full when I drive by. Promptly seated. The remodel created a well light, better organized space. Very family friendly. Lot of food options to absorb. We people watched the other tables orders. We saw round, square, & deep dish pizzas. We went with the Mediterranean salad and a calzone. The salad could have been a meal. It had artichokes, olives, tomatoes, spring greens AND nice enlive. The lemon vinegarette complemented the fresh ingredients. The calzone was also shareable size. Crisp crust, lots of cheese, and tons of spinach. With salad, calzone, one beer and an ice tea, the bill was $40. Look forward to trying other items on the menu. read more

Sensei Detroit style pizza was fantastic! Server was very nice and we will definitely come back! read more

Great place for happy hour. Staff at the bar is great, and the deals can't be beat. Stopped in after work and the one topping pizza was the perfect amount with a beer. This restaurant is a family favorite for sure. read more

Their pizza is good but their kitchen gets overwhelmed easily. Our visit became an exercise in waiting, and waiting, and watching other tables wait for their food. And this was not the first time this has happened. We took a group there one Saturday afternoon and what should have been a 1-hour visit turned into a 3-hour ordeal. Somebody needs to wise up and train a kitchen staff that can get orders out in a timely fashion. read more

My wife and I stopped in for early supper on a Wednesday. The place was empty except for a couple of folks at the bar and some gamers having an event in the party room. We seated ourselves and waited to be noticed for a few minutes. Our server brought menus and beer lists - both were very worn and a little gross. I tried to order a beer off the list, but they didn't have any cold. I tried to pick another, but the waitress ran off and put a can of my first choice on ice before I could catch her. Both a negative and a positive, I guess. This place is covered with plaques and other awards for their pizza, so we ordered one. It was okay, but nothing special. The sauce tasted like tomatoes straight from the can, there was too much cheese, and the crust was doughy. It was on par with some chain pizza outlets. The place is dark and in desperate need of a refresh, and it definitely could have been cleaner. The metal plates were still wet and kind of gross, the glasses were plastic, and the flatware was disposable. There are better pizza options in the area. read more

We finally decided to give it a try as we typically go to Monte Cello's when we want pizza. The pizza was excellent. However, the service was slow as it appeared they had too many customers compared to servers for a Friday night. We will be back and hope the service improves. read more

Ordered pick up from Caliente's on Babcock on Labor Day Staff was stretched thin, the hostess said they " were much busier than they expected" so pick up was a little slow nonetheless they were so pleasant & attentive We ordered a pan with sausage & Pep a Piggy & Grandma Ruffa Amazingly delicious! I had the Grandma - perfect! The crust was thick & tasty, the right amount of fresh basil & the sauce was excellent (I am Italian so I never say that!) My husband loved the "round"piggy - said the best round pizza he has had We have always loved Monte Chello's but we may have a new "go to" - happy they were closed on Labor Day read more

Not gonna lie, thought it would be a Mexican restaurant by its name but it's a pizza place! Very casual atmosphere that is half bar and half restaurant. We ordered hush puppies which were delicious that came with a spicy ranch dipping sauce. The sauce was tasty but if you're expecting a "southern" serving with butter, maybe rethink. We ordered a pepperoni and sausage thin Chicago style pizza. I'm from Ohio and this reminded me of Ohio style pizza. Cracker thin crust, not a lot of sauce (which was amazingly flavorful), and the toppings! Pepperoni that gets crispy edges and big balls of tasty sausage. You can get sweet or hot Italian sausage. Waitress was attentive and friendly. Good came out in no time at all. Parking lot wraps around the side and the back of the building so don't be deterred by what appears to be a full lot. read more

Not sure what has happened here, food is still mostly good but the service is absolutely some of the worst Went there today at 4 pm Ordered at 4:22pm A grandma pizza A whole chicken ranchero hoagie with fries 3 sodas (eat in) And a godfather hoagie to go Not even sure where to start It took an hour and 20 minutes for our food to come out Pizza was soggy almost inedible And here is the kicker My daughter got the whole chicken ranchero hoagie and fries Well she got a burnt half hoagie no fries We told our server who then looked confused Went to kitchen came back said the manager was going to take care of fixing it Ok no problem Second hoagie comes out and it has nothing but a little Buffalo chicken on it (not even the right hoagie) told our server and she again said the manager would be over to take care of it (never came over. Had to flag the server down for a drink refill And when we got home and my son opened his hoagie surprise it's also spicy chicken Not even close to being a godfather $75 is a little much for this kind of service We won't be back read more

Ooooooooph swing and a miss. Not very good pizza. On par with dominoes or papa johns. I will say it was better than a Primanti Brothers sandwich which was basically not edible. Do better Pittsburgh read more

I was prepared for opening night miscues. But, I was very happy with the new location. It was well lit with all of their accomplishments displayed on the walls. The service was very good. Everyone seemed very happy to be there. We went with a Joe Pesci, great hoagie. And the Luca Brasi. It's a great pizza. Whether you are in the North Hills, Aspinwall, Bloomfield or any of their other locations, I highly recommend trying Caliente's! read more

Caliente Pizza & Drafthouse - So delicious. We had the Chicken ranch hoagie and the mob boss hoagie. So worth the wait. - Pizza Near Me - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Service was terrible. Took an hour for food to come out. Happy hour was from 5-7 and was only able to get 2 beers because of the lack of service. Severs had an attitude. Food was good. read more

Food was above 5 stars. Service leads to my rating. Although our server was pretty good and our food came out in a timely manner, we observed several people get up and leave without being served. Also we saw at least two customers send their pizzas back as they were obviously burned. We ordered peppers on our pizza that were not cooked into the pie. They were raw veggies just strewn on top after the pizza was cooked. Maybe this is their style but we found it odd. read more

First of all the host was a very nice and accommodating shy boy with beautiful hair. Our server was kind and prompt. We had so many diet cokes, ice cold! The pizza was okay kinda not hot, but really we were there for the drinks. And as sometimes happens, too much Diet Coke makes you thirsty for water, which was readily available. read more

I guess I expected ALOT more from a WORLD PIZZA CHAMPION, actually a big let down. Pizza was average. A grocery store pizza maybe better. Pizza over priced, took too long. Staff was uneducated hood rats with no hospitality experience. I'd NEVER GO BACK read more

I would like to start by saying the pizza is good, however I'm not sure if they were having a cooler issue but the draft beer was not very cold. Also we were told that since football season was over, they are out of Miller lite draft . The day before the Super Bowl !! lol. The mozzarella sticks were cold and our other app never made it to the table. Hopefully this will improve in the future. read more

When I heard they were opening this place up I got so excited! There's no decent pizza shop that delivers near us so we always drive to get pizza. The first time we ordered pizza it was good. Lots of cheese, the sauce is good, the crust is good. So, we thought we had our new go to. Second time we ordered, not so good. They must have been low on cheese and pepperoni because they barely had any on the pie! We thought they maybe had a bad day or it was a one time deal so... Third time we ordered, same as the second time. Fourth time, I asked for extra cheese. Again, they must be running low on cheese! I don't know if it's the economy or something else but, we're done with them. Unless they get new ownership I'm not going back. Monte Cello's. Is right across the street and while we liked Caliente's MC is consistent. Judging by the ratings here I see we're not the only ones who are disappointed. Lately I've been driving a little further and found a place in North Side (15-20 min away) called Badamo's Pizza! Now that place makes a great pizza! I highly recommend it! It's worth the extra 10 min drive. read more

I have always been a fan of Caliente however, they used to have an excellent draft list. Now it's mostly their own "Dough Daddy". They are ok but I miss the local crafts and the big selection. Add 5 more taps and feature the good locals! The restaurants are full of beer signs but draft list does not reflect! Maybe they are getting too big? Wings used to be excellent. Last night they were mushy with barely any sauce. I told the waitress I would just take them home and crisp in an air fryer. She was kind enough to get me some extra sauce. As far as the pizza...it's expensive but was always excellent. Now, crust and sauce lack flavor. Middle was doughy and not done enough. Place was busy and poor waitress was busting her butt. All in all, disappointing. I won't be back for a while. Maybe slow the expansion and take care of whats out there already. read more

First impressions were "meh" all the way around. The pizza was very expensive and the quality was below other local offerings. The ingredients seemed great, but the dough was both burnt and chewy along with the pizza being light on sauce, especially for how overcooked and expensive it was. It's still a brand new location, so hopefully they'll work out the kinks before long. Pros: - a Caliente Pizza & Drafthouse close by - delicious sauce Cons: - pizza was burnt - not nearly enough sauce on the pizza - chewy and hard to eat - wasn't worth the $$$ - parking for carry-out doesn't exist read more

Allow me start with I will NEVER order anything from Caliente ever again. Last Tuesday, we ordered their 2 medium, one topping pizza carryout special for $21 (or thereabouts). I mentioned the special when I ordered and asked the gentleman if I could have one pizza with white sauce. "Yeah sure, no problem" so I ordered a white pizza with nothing else on it (hence, no toppings) and then I ordered another regular pizza with half pepperoni and half mushroom (one topping, right? What's the difference if I ordered all pepperoni or all mushroom? The answer is no difference). When I arrived at the Babcock location, I went to the bar area and asked if I pick up food there. The nasty, ignorant bartender sighed and said there was a window to pick up food around the corner so that's where I went (If you can't even fake being kind and friendly in a service industry then get out and go do something else). Little did I know that same bartender was the person that also handled the carry out window. I stood there like a schmuck for literally 15 minutes and watched this woman walk back and forth from the bar, into the kitchen, get drinks/menus for tables, etc., while never once acknowledging I was even there. Then finally, she asked me what name the order was under and proceeded to go get my order. When she comes back and rings it up, she says "that'll be $44.46". So I ask what's up with the pick up special and I was not going to pay $50 for 2 little jive medium pizzas. She asked if I mentioned the special when I ordered and I said of course I did. She couldn't ring it up for whatever reason so she went to get what I assume was a "manager". The "manager" comes out and tells me first, I order a premium pizza and then I ordered two toppings on the other pizza. I then ask what makes the white pizza a "premium" pizza, the white sauce? C'mon, that's no more premium than a regular pizza. Then we go back and forth about the "2 toppings" - She insisted it was 2 toppings and I asked what's the difference if the 2 toppings are the same or different, it's still ONE topping on the pizza...again, what's the difference. She FINALLY did something and rung it up for $21 and some odd cents. By now, there are 3-4 people behind me and needless to say I wasn't happy and nor were they - I apologized to all of them for their wasting time. So I have my order after at least a solid 20 minutes and the bottom of the pizza box was barely warm, I made the 10-12 minute drive home and we ate room temperature pizza. And trust that 2 medium pizzas from Caliente is not enough to feed a family of 4 - my goodness, I could crush a medium pizza by myself basically. Net, net, their pizza isn't all that and is insanely over priced. Have a blast down on Babcock and all your other locations, I personally will never, ever order anything from any Caliente location. And while another review says "There's a reason Caliente's wins awards for their pizza", I just don't see it. It's OK at best (and I have eaten at other Caliente locations, specifically on Route 8). Don't waste your money, there are 3 other pizza joints within proximity to Caliente's that are much better, much cheaper and come with much more friendly service. Boy do we miss Silvioni's!!! read more

I ordered delivery here just now. 1.5 hours went by and I hear nothing. I call twice and was told I would be refunded because I cancelled the order. 2 hours roll by and 30 mins since I cancelled the order. Someone shows up at my door with cold food. So, not only did they just straight up lie to me about cancelling the order, they knowingly sent cold food out that was sitting there for 2 hours. Update: They ended up refunding me and did the right thing, which speaks volumes. Thank you! Update: I gave them another chance since they refunded my last order. Well...not much better this time around. They forgot to give me an entire hoagie. I contacted them and have yet to hear back and that was over a week ago. read more

Absolutely the best pizza I've had in town! So glad they are now in the North Hills. The crust is perfectly crispy, and the sauce has just the right amount of tang. I tried the Margherita, and the fresh basil and mozzarella made it taste like heaven. The staff was super friendly and even gave me recommendations for my next visit. The atmosphere is cozy, making it a great spot for a casual dinner. Can't wait to come back and try more toppings! Highly recommend! read more
