I had a great experience at Cali nails, I was searching for a nail salon in Bakersfield since I'm not from here. I yelped nail salons near me and I came across Cali Nails, I read a lot of reviews about Anna, so I called ahead and thankfully she was available, I made an appointment when we got there she was a bit busy, I had a short wait she started my pedicure first she took her time she did a very great Job. The Pedicure was one of the best I've had in a long time. she also did my nails I had a fill she took her time and my nails came out amazing my feet came out amazing. They were very kind people Anna is really good, she makes sure your satisfied. I would suggest visiting this place anytime you need a fill or pedicure in Bakersfield, I would've gave them five stars if the gel polish did not cost $18 I have never paid that much other than that I definitely will go back, I enjoy this place but Call ahead Anna gets busy. I tried to look for a good nail salon near me. Tried to go thru the list and the reviews. Read about Cali and the great reviews. My first visit was good. Had Amy (she describes herself as young Amy bec. there is another Amy doing the nails too) do both my gel manicure and regular pedicure. I try to deal with only one due to the pandemic. Some clients have one taking care of their feet and another taking care of their hands. I used to do that but after the pandemic I let only one person handle both. My second visit was a disaster! I ask for the same Amy. She did my pedicure. Had a couple of toes bleed. She was not apologetic but blaming my toes for having thick skin! She was the one who gave me a pedicure 2.5 ++ weeks ago! Then she did my gel nails. I decided to get the cat's eyes style for additional $5. (While doing the pedicure, Amy showed me a lot of sample works and colors and the beautiful samples of cat's eyes style from which I chose) She was selling it to me saying that my nails will look so good for the party I'm going to. But it was a disappointment! I told her with the first nail that she did that the cat's eyes were not that visible as shown in the sample. Again she blamed it on my nails! She said that my nails were short (which she cut!) to show the cat's eyes! Such a big disappointment! After the services are done, I asked about using credit card for paying (the first time I was there I paid in cash including the tip and DID NOT GET A RECEIPT nor was asked if I needed one!) Amy said that I have to pay additional $1 if I pay in credit card. Since I have the cash, I just gave her the money for the VERY DISAPPOINTING SERVICES I got and gave the last tip because I will not go back there anymore! And they did not give me a receipt AGAIN! I forgot to ask about it too. I went home and took a picture of my bleeding toes just in case I will experience some complications. When I first came in, one of the male manicurists there said that they are all good. If bleeding toes are their standard of good I will DEFINITELY not go back there again! I hope that management will look into the issues I have experienced including the non-issuance of receipts for services rendered! read more

Went here for my first time for a regular mani-pedi. The gentleman that helped me out was very nice and professional. LOVED HIM! & I feel bad because I never got his name. I'll definitely be going back. The only thing I didn't like was that they charge $5 to remove previous gel polish (but that's if you're not gonna have gel again, I guess). I live near here so I have gone often. Most of the time they do a great job. I usually get pedicures but I have had acrylics done and I was happy with them. My biggest problem is that they do not disinfect properly. The CA State Board of Cosmetology says that the tools should be washed and scrubbed with soap, then fully immersed in the blue Barbicide liquid for 10 minutes. Then rinsed and dried. They do not do this. They rinse and sometimes use a brush to clean but do not disinfect properly by SOAKING for 10 minutes. As for the pedicure tubs, they are to be rinsed, scrubbed with soap and water, then filled with Barbicide liquid and water and the Jets are to run for 10 minutes to properly disinfect. All they do is spray with 409, scrub, rinse, and they dry it with the previous client's dirty towel. read more

I was excited to try this place bc of the good reviews and unfortunately I was pretty disappointed. I got a full set pink and white from an older lady. First of all, she used white tips which I have never seen before for pink and whites. The whole point of pink and whites is to use the white powder to create the white tip...then she applied the tip to my thumb very crooked. I let her know I thought it was applied very crooked and she assures me that she will be able to fix it with the white powder (on a white tip that will show no matter what...-_-) so I let her do it and after she asked if it was better I said it still looked pretty crooked and could she just take it off and do it again. She then tried to add more powder and after I said I still didn't like it she got pretty frustrated and called over a young man to speak in Vietnamese about it. The young man then asks "What don't you like" and I say "Its really crooked" show him the nail and he's like "Tell me exactly what you want so I can tell her" and I once again stated I want the thumb redone. So she begrudgingly puts my thumb in acetone and redoes it. She then applied the new tip and it was crooked again! She then proceeds to tell me that its my nail......and no matter what its going to look like that (are you serious!! it was exactly like that Angela Johnson nail lady joke :| and not in a good way) And isn't your job as a nail tech to fix something like that and make it not look crooked? I've never had that problem before. I mean come on. I have to say after that she continued to ask if I liked what she was doing which was nice, but honestly my experience was already ruined at that point. It was definitely one of the worst sets I have ever gotten. My nail beds are very short and by applying white tips she made the pink look like my nail beds were even smaller which looks so bad. She did do a pretty design on my ring fingers that I liked a lot, for $5 for two nails (huh?) and the full set was $35 alone not including top gel (which I skipped and just got a polish top coat bc I wasn't about to spend any more at this place) I am not sure if she knew exactly what she was doing. She didn't even remove the sanding dust from my hands and nails throughout the entire process which is basic acrylic application knowledge. I would never come back or recommend this place, it is expensive and this lady was really terrible. i was super excited after reading the reviews but the person who did my nails was so incredibly rude! when i told him what i wanted, which consisted of a shorter nail and a simple design, he simply told me he didn't like it so he disregarded my request for them to be short and made them quite long. the design is also very patchy with spots that don't even have polish on them. i was quite sad because now i am going to have to get them removed because i cannot have this long of nails at work. read more

Absolutely terrible. Went in to get a fill she ended up prying all of my nails off how painful. Now it's three days later to have chipped and one has fallen off. Went earlier today to my normal manicurist in Tehachapi and she said that they used MM a on my nails. Unfortunately I didn't have a good experience here. Ive been getting acrylic nails for about three years now so, I have visited plenty of nail salons. I went about four days ago and they greeted me as I walked in which was nice. I read reviews off google so I was fairly confident to come here for the first time. I was seated right away when the man had asked what I wanted he seemed completely lost when I told him "stiletto" so I showed him a few pictures hoping it was just a misunderstanding of communication. I clearly only needed a fill yet he took off all my nails. I had asked if there was an additional fee to do so and he said "no you okay," as he began to shape them he seemed lost. I had asked if he had done these nails before and he told me "let me do my job." Fine. I didn't want to be a rude costumer. Over all I was unhappy with my experience there. He cut my cuticles causing me to bleed and the forms (nail shapes) came out horrible. I wasn't rude to him so I didn't see what he had an attitude with me. If I could give them a 0 star... I was excited to go to Aguilar you know so a lot closer to my home. Unfortunately my experience at this location was very uncomfortable. The young guy is extremely unprofessional and definitely has an attitude problem in my point of view he's passive aggressive. I went in to change the color of my nails which they charge $18 (they only take cash so be prepared). I asked him for his opinion and his response was very sarcastic and unprofessional not only with his words but also with his body language and eyes you could totally tell he was very annoyed with my question, I'm assuming he gets that question asked often so his response was very cold, rude and unprofessional. I asked him to change two of my fingernails color to another color which he had not work on those nails prior. He asked me "so now you want me to change this color?" And I responded with "yes please" he took a deep breath rolled his eyes and started breathing hard slamming things on the table making it very obvious he was upset that I had him change those two colors I had told him not to change previously... As he continued to paint my nails he continue to move his head as if he was saying no, obviously very upset that I made him change those two colors he continue to breathe hard slam things and make me feel extremely uncomfortable. I also noticed they have a sign that says no kids allowed... I saw 3 people working at this location the two elderly people and the younger guy. I don't recommend this place at all give your business to someone who cares about his job in humans. Probably one if the worst nail salons i have been to, terrible customer service i ever had and also my nails literally fell off as i was doing laundry just after two days i had them. Waited about 3 hours to get a pedicure only to be told that it would be another hour. I specifically called and asked for a specific person to do my pedicure. This a family owned business and only two people were working! I did not want one specific person to do my pedicure because they would always cut me,That's why I specifically asked for the other family member. another family member walked in hours later but he only does mani's/acrylic. The fact that I drove from Olive Dr all the way to panama ln, waited about 3hrs to be told it would be longer, is very unacceptable. I would think they would care about their customers and better their customer service and maybe compensate for the long wait. Didn't even get an apology for the long wait. I can't spend all day at a salon. More than an hour is long enough. But going on 3 and told would be another on top of that? I didn't even get my damn pedicure !!! Never again !
