If you want authentic, Southern BBQ, this is where to come! They do it it right in massive smokers run by pit masters. Our groups of four tried brisket, pulled pork, ribs, turkey, and sausage. It was all delicious, but my favorite was the brisket. For sides we had beans, corn casserole, and mac-n-cheese. Each of us had different favorites so it was all good. The atmosphere was casual, clean, and whimsical. You could eat inside or outside. Service was fast and friendly even on a busy Saturday night. read more

This was some of the best bbq I've ever had. Granted I'm from California I have never had real southern or Texas bbq but this is the standard. I got a half rack of pork ribs, amazing, sausage link, amazing, Mac and cheese was really good also. Never had corn casserole before but I liked it! Would definitely recommend read more

A really cute spot to eat, however, we did not like the very thick heavy pepper on all the meat. It was not our flavor profile.

The best bbq I've had in a very longtime!! Incredible outgoing service and fabulous bbq! Will be back soon!!

Excellent service. I catered my husbands fathers. I was going to order a truck load of food and the guy that helped me, assured me it was too much food and guided me to a better menu, I forget his name, but to you sir-THANK YOU food is outstanding customer service- even more so. read more

The BBQ here is probably best in AZ. After living in Texas and Kansas City, I know what good BBQ should be, and this place is the closest I've found. Pulled pork, brisket, sausages, all are great. The sauces are great as well. It can get busy here, so bring patience. read more

Get there early to have a full selection. I had the pulled pork and smoked turkey, both excellent. House sauce and slaw are also tasty. I felt the Mac and cheese and pinto beans were good, not great. If you're in Gilbert, worth a visit. Staff is also pleasant and helpful. read more

We have always loved Caldwell's and we love to support small local businesses. So we chose them to cater our sons engagement party. Everyone commented on how amazing the food was. Everything was packed so professional and tight so it made transport to our house so easy. They supplied all the extras. Tons of bbq sauce, onions, pickles, peppers plates and all the silverware and napkins. I will definitely use them again for a party! read more

Came in last night for dinner with my friend. It was our first time here and so glad we got there right before 6pm because it started to get packed by 6:15ish. The interior is quite small, and clearly more of an "eat outside" spot as they have A LOT of benches but obviously weather makes them all useless because there's no covering. I got a full rack of rib, she got a pulled pork sandwich with mac & cheese. Service was very fast and the staff is incredibly friendly. We loved all our food and I took half my rack home for the next day because the ribs were very meaty. Was awkward to wash my hands inside the dining area because people have to try and squeeze by, but not a huge deal. Could've likely gone outside to the bathrooms, but I didn't realize where they were. I put 4 stars instead of 5 simply because when weather isn't good, the seating is very limited and having the sink where it is, again it's super awkward. Don't let it discourage you though, you should absolutely come eat here if you love BBQ. Honestly, I'd be happy to find out in the future that they've moved to an even bigger location, because they definitely seem to have the customer base to maintain a profit =] read more

My husband and I finally tried Caldwells. Nice patio with additional seating inside. Portions are big! I had the pulled pork sandwich and my husband had the general Patton. We also had the mac&cheese. Sandwiches were epic! Mac not so much. We will definitely be returning. read more

Let's start this review on a real note! You ever been to a spot so damn good, anyone you know who has been there before you, you start a conversation with.... accusing them of holding out on you?!!? Like, damn, you had this place you were eating at all this time where it felt like your tongue was having an orgasm after every bite, but you weren't gonna make me go here? My tongue wants an orgasm!!! WTF!!!! Ya'll..... You do not understand!!! You ever watch those BBQ competition shows where they compete with judges and shit? Everything looks really good, but they smoke EVERYTHING, so you think... "Looks good but might be a little dry" cuz everyone is smoking everything, and smoke and fire make flavorful, mostly dry style meat, right? HELL NO!!!!!! THIS PLACE, DOES NOT, F#*K Around!!!!!!!!! Ribs, Brisket, EVERYTHING!!!! Smoke flavor in the meat is incredible!!! They perfected, the charred outter crust.... But the meat is actually so juicy.... You'd think it'd be dry from the smoke and char.... But so juicy and tender.....And then.... Oh God.... Y'all don't even know what's about to happen to you next.... They have 4.... FOUR!!!! DELICIOUS, MOUTH WATERING, BBQ SAUCES.... That highlight every flavor of the meat you are eating, yet also make your mouth water more, and crave more of it! This BBQ establishment, is my new, all time favorite!!!! I yelled at my sister, because she's been telling me to go for a while, but she never forced me to go!!! I straight up got mad at her, cuz she's been trying to tell me but feel she shudda kidnapped me and brought me here!!! My people.... You will not find a better barbeque restaurant, in Arizona, or your life. Take it from this random, Yelp customer review.... Go now! Stop waiting, don't play games.... They sure as f#*k are not.... You will feel like a barbeque judge on a Food Network show, tasting the winning champion. Fatty sliced Brisket, and ribs on point!!!! Get EVERYTHING here!!!! Enjoy!!!! read more

Honest Review. We ordered 3lbs Brisket and 2 racks of ribs, 2 Corn casseroles, 3 Macaroni sides and 2 Pecan Pies. I gave only 3 stars due to the following: the Bad. 1. The place doesn't serve beef ribs. If they do on a particular day or so we did not see no sign. Beef ribs Are Amazing if done right and are Super-tender. If the joint does serve beef ribs and I am notified I will update my rating to 4-stars. 2. The Pecan Pie was not explosive with flavor nor smoke flavor. Perhaps there's are not smoked, not sure hadn't asked. Didn't taste like it. One needs a good Pecan Pie to compliment an amazing bbq! Now for the Good: There pork ribs were great. Meaty, smoky and flavorful. kudos to the team here. The Brisket was also decent, tender. The macaroni side was decent and a good macaroni always compliments a good bbq dish! I don't think the MAC was smoked tho, that would've benefitted. The corn side dish was also received well by my family so kudos here too. Overall this is a good place to eat (on the E side of valley). That is to the Caldwells for making a BBQ joint for us to enjoy! read more

I make a point of trying bbq places when I travel to a new town, so I've tried literally hundreds of bbq joints around the country, including several of the legendary bbq restaurants in the Austin, TX area - the BBQ Mecca of America. I can say with a high degree of confidence that you won't find better BBQ in Arizona than Caldwell County. Everything on the menu is outstanding. You won't be disappointed. read more

New to the area, decided to try this place. Pulled up to an "old house" lol Every spot in the parking lot was taken and you could smell the heavenly smokers, so we knew we needed to try it. Caldwell County BBQ is by far the best BBQ we've had in a very long time. I've never had better smoked turkey and the sausage was so flavorful. We were also lucky enough to snag the remaining brisket they had on hand and it did not disappoint. Growing up in Texas, I've had my fair share of BBQ and Caldwell County BBQ blows most of them out of the water. Staff is very friendly and kept the restaurant clean. read more

Today!!! Was a first for us here!!! This was a taste sensation that we will be sure to do again. We like bbq and stopped there with friends and WOW! We walked in, went to the counter to order and were given a sample of brisket, it was delicious. I had a sandwich with pulled pork, brisket and their homemade sausage. It was all fabulous. They open at 11am, that's when we arrived. Within 15 minutes there was a line to order, the patrons were going thru quickly. They have Indoor seating and also outdoor seating. It's all great. Make sure you visit caldwell County bbg. read more

Bbq done right along with amazing slaw! My wife is NOT a Cole slaw person but their lemon poppy coleslaw was unforgettable and the brisket, pulled pork, and sauces were "on point" as they say read more

Food was great. Line moved fast. And the vibe was on point. Love this place will be back.

BBQ as good as I've had in Texas. Jimmy is good people and happy to explain his art - and boy what good meat he makes! We had the "family of 8" bundle and the brisket was so tender and moist - but the kids liked the pork and turkey best so that's a good sign when somebody likes everything right? Not to mention the cole slaw and "corn casserole" that is really a cornbread, lots of seating and you can't go wrong. read more

We had BBQ catered for about 70 guest who could not stop complimenting how good the food from Caldwell County BBQ was! We really want to thank the amazing catering staff. They were extremely helpful and completely took care of set up and clean up. We were left with a ton of food and guests were pretty quickly going back for seconds. 10/10 would recommend for anyone's large gathering. read more

First thing, it's freaking adorable. Line was long but moved really fast. Outdoor area that means kids are welcome! Secondd, service is fantastic. Helpful folks behind the counter, condiment area clean and utensils refilled. Third, Fantastic bbq! I'd say it rivals little miss. Brisket on point. Ribs are tender with a little pull, which is my fave. But the sides are unique takes! Corn casserole was a crowd favorite. My faVe was the lemon poppyseed coleslaw. Barely sweet but just righT as a complement to Smokey meats. Altogether a perfect sat lunch with the kids. Bravo! read more

Finally got to come here after all these years . it's a ways out but we went to Boyce Arboretum with my wife's brother who was in town which really enjoyed and this definitely finished the day off great. Everybody loved it , moist brisket was amazing. The macaroni and cheese is one of the best, great service , now I just need to keep making excuses to drive all the way out here for it read more

I'm very picky about BBQ and this place exceeds all expectations. All the meats are perfectly tender, smoky, and flavorful and their sides are just as good as the meat. Their fatty brisket is so buttery soft that you don't even need a knife, just give it a slight tug with your fork and you'll have a mouthful of deliciousness ready to eat. I like their pulled pork as well because it has some bark still on the meat and isn't a pile of mush like at other places. I'm not usually a fan of BBQ sauce with meat, but their house versions are really good, especially the mustard one. Pick your meats and they'll weigh them at the first station, and then you move down the line for your sides and other add-ons. Their sandwiches look to be decent value and they come on a King's Hawaiian roll, which I'll have to try next time. The corn casserole is a unique side option that's sort of like a slightly thicker, carb-ier creamed corn. I haven't found anything I didn't like here yet though, so I'm sure it's all good. Parking lot is a tad small and parking can be a bit tight. They have ample seating indoors as well as a number of tables outside when weather permits. This place, in my experience, is definitely in the top 2 of BBQ in AZ. read more

My husband and I were here today and we really weren't certain about this place. The food was good and the atmosphere was nice The best part of our experience was that we had the SWEETEST cashier girl I've ever had in my life she had this bold eyeliner and braids in her hair. She was so funny and talked so highly about the establishment. You could just tell she loved to work there and loved the rest of the employees. She really made it feel like they were a family that cared for one another. That is the type of place I want to support. I will be coming back just for her. read more

Ribs and brisket are awesome. Supper tender and juicy. Plenty of food but a little pricey.

Fist time here and great food! A great sign when it's a Tuesday night and the place is packed. Good sign great food. We had the family for four meal adding a whole rack of ribs. Wanted leftovers and all the meats were delicious. Their BBQ sauces are really good and so is the coleslaw. Highly recommend. Gave four stars because first timer, but knowing we'll be back know I'll bump it up to five stars read more

I dined at Caldwell for dinner and realized the next day that I had left my wallet at the counter. When I called to see if it was there, Justin, asked the right questions of me to confirm the wallet was indeed mine and it was safely set aside for pick-up. My husband picked it up that afternoon and was asked again for confirmation. There was a good amount of cash/cards inside which remained untouched. In my opinion, the integrity of a restaurant is just as important as the quality of their food and this establishment has both- delicious BBQ and an honest company that is managed and staffed by honest people. Thank you, Justin and team for your diligence, customer service and outstanding food. read more

I had the Dixie fatty brisket with corn casserole. Hubby had the pulled pork with pinto beans. The brisket was absolutely delicious. Hubby thought the pork was good, but rates the brisket better. Corn casserole was sweet and filling. Pintos had onions in them, but we're very tasty. I only tried the house bbq sauce which is a very bold, hickory flavored thick sauce. A little too bold for me, as I prefer a sweet BBQ. They also have a mustard sauce which we didn't try, and a hot and sweet that my husband liked. It does have a kick! Forgot to take a pic of the food as we were starving, bit it is definitely worth your while to try! Ambiance is definitely a plus. Unless you know where it is located, you would never know it was there! Very cute spot! read more

Obsessed with this place. I can't make a trip to PHX without stopping in at least once, and usually multiple times. The brisket is unreal, the smoked turkey is perfection, and the sides ... soooo good! Have the corn casserole for sure! We always get a family platter and love to share it alllllll! read more
