Calderone Club has amazing Italian food. It feels home cooked and everything is very delicious. We ordered the bolognese and spicy salsiccia pastas both of which were fantastic and flavorful. With that being said, I do think the food is quite overpriced for a plate of pasta. Each pasta dish is about $27 and comes with a small side of bread, no starting salad or soup typical of other family Italian restaurants in the area. I would expect a little more for the price. BUT, the food is fantastic so we reserve Calderone Club for special occasions. The place is always packed which speaks to how good it is. Given how busy it was, the service was a bit slower to get waters, and for the food to come out, but we were happy with our meals when they came.

Gnocchi San Marzano

When planning my friend's bachelorette party in Milwaukee, we wanted an Italian restaurant that was highly rated and close to the rest of our plans. We chose this spot and were glad we made a reservation for our group of four because the place was absolutely packed on a Saturday night. The energy inside was lively and fun, although we were seated in the very back corner of the restaurant, which felt a bit cramped. At least we had a window seat, which helped make the space feel a little more open. Our server was an older gentleman, and at first he came off a bit rude. He spoke to us in a way that felt dismissive, almost like we were young and clueless. However, as the evening went on he warmed up significantly and ended up being very kind and attentive. It seemed like most of the staff were actually Italian, and our waiter had a deep Italian accent that added to the authenticity. He had a very traditional vibe, and by the end of the meal we really appreciated him. The food was the highlight of the night. Everything we ordered was delicious, and we were all happy with our dishes. I chose the Gnocchi San Marzano ($24.95). It had a perfect balance of gnocchi, tomatoes, and sauce. The dish was a little more saucy than others I have had, but since I love sauce, it was perfect for me. Overall, despite the tight seating and the rocky start with service, we left full, happy, and impressed. It was a great choice for a celebratory night out.

This place is FANTASTIC!! We were visiting family in Milwaukee and they wanted to try this place. Everything was amazing! The service was spot on, the ambiance was perfect for any occasion, and the food was so very flavorful. Everyone enjoyed their entrees very much. They even gave me a hard time for ordering desert assortment, but enjoyed every last bite. Definitely will come back when in the area again.

Large combination pizza

This review is strictly on the pizza, nothing else. We flew in for a conference and stayed next door at the Hyatt. The restaurant looks nice, however we did not eat there. Instead, we ordered a large combination pizza to go. With that said, there's nothing positive I can say about the pizza. At best, id rank it as sub par. The crust was the most disappointing aspect of it. Yes, it's cracker thin, but absolutely tasteless. Improper dough technique as the texture was that of un risen bread. Hugely disappointing. We ended up eating a few pieces and threw the rest away. Wasn't worth it.

Chicken fettuccine alfredo

Frank is the best bartender! He's so friendly. Tonight was my first time trying this place, but he made me feel like I was a regular. I sat at the bar since all of the tables were reserved. I got the chicken fettuccine alfredo and an amaretto sour with grenadine, both of which are a staple for me when I go out for Italian food. The food came out so fast, especially with how busy it was around 5:30pm. I was shocked! The sauce was rich and creamy, maybe a little runny for my liking, but the flavor was so good! I want to come back and try some of the appetizers and desserts next time.

Now this place knows how to do NYE! We had reservations and were promptly seated at a cute little table with a window view. Service was fast, warm, and inviting. Every part of our meal was spectacular. Drinks, salad, bread, pasta, and steak were all perfectly cooked and delicious. I highly recommend the seafood pasta. Thank you for a great experience. We'll be back - as soon as we can!

Works Pizza

Got their Works pizza, great pizza. 8/10. The pizza is very thin, and the crust is fantastic. Nice place, they were extremely busy but they were fast and on top of things. Nice people there, they greeted us right away.

Lobster Ravioli

Last review was 7 years ago, so an update is needed. The thin crust pizza is still arguably the best in town, as are their meatballs and fried eggplant strips! Other favorite dishes I've ordered here are the Penne con Salsiccia with a spicy sauce, Cappellini alla Primavera with chicken or shrimp added, the Cowboy Cut Pork Chop, Veal Piccata, Lasagna, and a recently upgraded pasta with bolognese!

Food is okay. This place is hyped locally, but not really deserving. The real thing keeping it down is the atmosphere. It is SO loud in here, you can't hear someone sitting right next to you. And you're packed in here like sardines. You have to turn to the side to walk between tables.

We were seated promptly and were served with the house prosecco due to our occasion which was a generous gesture by the staff. Our selection this evening were the Fusilloni Al Pistachio and the Penne Alla Vodka. From the first bite of the pesto pasta was an explosion of flavor; the strong, decadent flavor of the basil mixed with the subtle pistachio notes was something I wouldn't forget. The consistency of the sauce made the dish creamy which is sometimes hard to do with pesto. The Vodka pasta was amazing as well; it was paired with mushrooms and spinach. The ambiance was very cozy; the cream city walls, Italian playlist, table decor and energy felt like I was transported to Sicily. Safina captured that essence flawlessly and we enjoyed our experience. Overall, we loved our dining experience at Safina and will definitely be back/recommend to friends and family for a quality dining experience.

We started with cocktails, hubs had an old-fashioned and I had a paper plane. Stella's bread service was warm rolls with a chili garlic oil. Spicy! Everything we ordered we split between the two of us. We started with the Caesar salad which had the best anchovy dressing. Next was the grilled octopus with a creamy yogurt sauce. We could cut the octopus with a fork because it was that tender. For our main entree, we shared the bone-in ribeye. For my first experience here, I began with their version of a classic old fashioned, El Anticuado. If I had any note, it would be I would have preferred a large ice sphere as it got watered down quicker than I'd like with the small cubes. But, such a small thing and the cocktails was divine. For my main, I got the Pollo grileado which was grilled chicken sandwich with spinach, tomatoes, and a flavorful poblano pesto served on bolillo bread. It had the slightest lovely spicy heat and was just wonderfully flavorful. The texture was perfect with the soft bread. It comes served with a side of their Ensalada De Casa which was a spinach salad with radishes, jicama, toasted pumpkin seeds, radishes, queso fresco, and well dressed with their house made cilantro-lime mezcal vinaigrette.
