I contracted CALbath to remodel my hall bathroom shower/tub combo, and I have to say, "5-Star" service all around. Prior to going with CALbath, I received estimates from three other competitors that offered the same type of service, one being Bath-fitters. I also spoke to a general contractor for an estimate. Other than the contractor, all three estimates were roughly 15% of one and other in cost; however, I thought what CALbath offered, as far as styles, were more in line with my taste. I also 'clicked' with their sales rep, Zelanne. I found her to be pleasant, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. I also found Gabby, the person I would speak with on the phone, to be very pleasant and accommodating as well, so a big thanks to her. The contractor that arrived to do the actual work, Israel, was outstanding. Israel was very knowledgeable, friendly, and just a great guy to work with. He was also open to address any concerns that I had, and he was always available for questions, which is huge! We talked with three different companies to remodel our two bathrooms. We wanted the entire bathrooms redone and CALbath San Diego was the only company that did everything that we wanted done. The other two companies only did tub and shower areas and we would need to find other contractors to complete the other work that we wanted done. We selected CALbath because there price was reasonable for all of the work that we wanted done including new bathtub and shower acrylic wall systems, toilets, vanities, vanity tops and sinks, flooring, and painting. We talked to Steve Lass at the San Diego Home Show about all of the work that we wanted done. After Steve's in-home visit to take measurements and discuss in more detail what we wanted he provided us with costs estimates for each of the bathrooms. We visited their showroom in San Diego and made some refinements to what we wanted. Steve was very responsive as well as providing a few recommendations. It took approximately 3.5 days to complete each of the bathrooms, including demo, installation, painting and finishing. We had two different teams with the same lead person (Nestor) dong the work in each of the bathrooms. All of the workers were courteous, friendly, and worked well together as a team. The work areas were kept clean during the work as well as at the end of the day before they left. We were available to answer any questions they had during the work. Traffic areas through the house were covered with a tarp to keep the area clean. We are very satisfied with both of our bathrooms and would recommend CALbath San Diego for bath remodels. read more

We had 4 companies come to our house to give us quotes for our master bath and downstairs powder room. Steve Lass showed up on time and knew his stuff! I would say," this is what I want", and he would say, "we can do that, but take a look at this, I think you'll really like it". Darned if he wasn't right 99% of the time! I learned quickly to listen to him. I really appreciated that he listened and interpreted what I wanted. After the initial home visit, Steve invited us to the showroom, where we met him the following week. It was so much fun (for me) to see the little bathrooms they had put together. We went through the options we had discussed and I was so excited! The reason I said earlier Steve was only right 99% of the time was because of the 'Barn style twin bypass shower slider door with exposed rails and rollers' that I didn't know I NEEDED till I saw it in showroom!! So, I guess he gets 100% after all . Speaking of 100%... make sure Izzy is the one they schedule to do your work. Izzy knows his stuff. He is polite, thoughtful, respectful and damn good at his job. If I had questions or concerns he addressed them immediately and took care of everything. I thought I'd be stressed out with people in the house, or from having to move my stuff, but Izzy made that a non issue for me. I knew at the end there would be a Punch List of items that needed to be tweaked or fixed, happily it was two minor things, also there was a door casing that the home builder butchered originally, Izzy said he could fix it. CALbath replaced everything in my bathroom except my toilet! I had them convert my bathtub/shower into a shower enclosure and all of my cabinets and counters including adding double sinks and duel lights. Steve Lass took what I envisioned for my new bathroom and made it happen! Since we chose to do this remodel right at the start of COVID 19, CALbath kept me informed every step of the way. Steve informed me from the beginning about the lead time that would be required for the materials so I knew what to expect. Gabby (from the office) would call me throughout the waiting period to let me know that they were still waiting on the materials. Once the materials were all in, they were able to schedule the installation within a couple of days. Israel, the installer, arrived on time every day, with his mask on and following all the COVID 19 protocol. He put paper on our wood floors to protect them and put up a plastic sheeting wall to protect our master bedroom.. He cleaned up the work site everyday and finished the job ahead of schedule. So far, so good! I was looking for an updated shower stall for my master bathroom. Months ago I stopped by the CAL Bath showroom off of Miramar Rd., not knowing that it was appointment only. Steve was there and let me come in and look around. At that time I was only looking at vanities, but he also educated me on the acrylic showers. He was very patient and friendly, no pressure and didn't push me to buy anything. So, months later, I'm looking for an updated shower stall. I made appointments with at least 5 different companies. They came to my house, took measurements, explained their prices and did their sales pitches, some pushier than others. Prices were all over the place some with fake discounts, some with special pricing if I decided "today only". I finally made an appointment with CAL Bath. Steve came to my house took measurements, discussed different options. He said he would send me an estimate the next day. None of the used car salesman pitch or special today only deals. He was straight forward, friendly and helped me with the different options to chose from. The price was good, less than some and slightly more than others. I met him at the showroom one more time. CALbath replaced my old fiberglass shower enclosure with a Corastone enclosure. The new enclosure is beautiful and transformed my bathroom into a clean, modern style. The new enclosure is the same size as the old one but seems much more spacious. CALbath kept me informed every step of the way. Their professional installers arrived on time, put protective plastic sheets on the floor from the door to the bathroom and covered furniture. They cleaned up the work site everyday and finished the job on schedule. AMAZING! The Corastone material is totally awesome, looks great, and is easy to clean. I hate grout lines and was looking at solid granite slab walls but that was a lot more expensive. The Corastone is a man made material similar to quartz. The coolest feature is the "low profile" shower pan base (extremely heavy) which is made from the same stuff and is rock solid. It's only 2.5-inches tall compared to my old shower base (6.5-in). It makes the room seem larger. read more

Overall very happy with our shower / bath remodel. We had Corastone material installed - it is a Travertine-like man-made material, for a fraction of the cost of real Travertine marble. Looks awesome! SUCCESSES Final result looks amazing! With the very attractive Corastone material and new Moen fixtures it is the bathroom of our dreams! Great workmanship and patience by (Israel) the installer and his assistant. Steve Lass, the sales and project manager was very patient, gracious, and flexible, which made some of the rough spots of the project get smoothed out. Cost -- The CalBath cost and value, was much better out of about 10 other companies we interviewed or got quotes from, including Bath Fitters on the low end cost, some bathroom re-modelers in the middle cost, and Loews and several General Contractors on the high end cost. DIFFICULTIES Some rough spots in the project including several delays and communications issues that could have been prevented. As professional process consultants me and my wife offered some improvement recommendations to CalBath, which they received graciously. SUMMARY A satisfied customer. We requested a bigger curved tub and CoraStone to the ceiling. We like the material because it is easy to clean, hides dirt and looks nice. The team cured the Mosaic between and the plumbing works well. Only downside to our experience was arriving to an empty office on Miramar in San Diego. Overall we have been pleased with their work and willingness to help us fix things in the bathrooms that were left a mess after the last owner flipped the house. The reason for the 4 stars is that there were delays in completing the projects in each bathroom. In the first bathroom the frame for the shower door was the wrong size and we had to wait for the correct one to be sent and in our other bathroom the shelving unit went missing sometime before our scheduled installation so we had to wait for another one to be ordered. Israel did a wonderful job with the installation and also did some finishing around our bathtub that wasn't required of him but helped give it a finished look. Generally really happy with their friendly service from Steve, Israel and Gabby. Very professional, helpful, and great communication. read more

Steve Lass my Rep and Estimator, Ouch! So good! My main man Israel I dealt with for two days! Ouch! So good, how about you? Yes you will be so good, after trusting these fine people. Steve was polite professionally dressed, and on time. I explained what I wanted, he took measurements and asked questions, then gave me options. He said "It may take 6 weeks from sign and deposit to scheduled start and delivery. I wanted a few different items than norm (brushed nickel hardware) Roman Stone for walls and "rain" doors. It took a week more to get it. Here are the results. Israel who worked by himself finished in roughly 14 work hours with no help. Polite, dressed like a pro, I left him alone to do his thing and the results are our happiness for me and Mom. Do not get these fine folks confused with Bath Fitters. I requested a quote to redo a 6' x 8' bathroom. I was a bit suspicious that they offered a Web discount of up to $1,000 and you needed to show the coupon when receiving the quote. You know, add $1,000 here, knock $1,000 off there. I figured it would all be smoke and mirrors, but you never know. It was worth a try. Chris came to give the quote. Subsequently, I didn't hear from him for a week so I e-mailed both him and the office. No response, so this time I called the office and was told they would have Chris contact me with the quote. That evening Chris sent an e-mail with a quote for a whopping $19,726.61 that included a $2,000 discount (for being so tardy). There was no cost breakdown, just this grand total. I was curious as to how he arrived at such a high figure so I requested a price breakdown. Several days later I received a new quote with the same total but now with a price breakdown. I added the line items up myself and arrived at $18,099.61 including the $2,000 discount that was also a line item. Talk about smoke and mirrors! Chris also gave me a second quote, for acrylic walls rather than Corastone (which only offers a 3-year warranty). The total on this quote was $13,926.98. However, when I added the line items up myself the total was $12,296.98. He'd forgotten to subtract the $1,000 discount noted as a line item *and* had transposed two of the digits. This is smoke and BS, not smoke and mirrors. Oh, and he also wanted a lot of the money upfront, making the excuse that this was to cover the cost of custom materials. Clearly he just pulled numbers, very high numbers, out of his hat (or some other part of his anatomy). I was drawn to approach Calbath because of their high Yelp feedback, but Eeack! I think this is a very shady business. read more

I needed a repair (under warranty) for the shower shelf which fell off in October. The rating would have dropped to two stars if the repairs had not been completed today. However the technician/supervisor who came to make the repairs today was so professional, polite, and detail oriented that I upped the review to four stars. Vidal spent just over an hour reattaching the shelf, He verified with HQ that it was acceptable to reuse the existing shelf (which was in great shape, just had apparently attached poorly initially). Then he THOROUGHLY cleaned up the shelf, the shower where it was to be reattached, and then reattached it. It looks like the shelf may have been attached incorrectly poorly initially. Please note that our initial order in 2015 had included two shelves, instead of the standard one shelf that came with the "package" we purchased. The people who filled out the order missed that, so the second shelf came in some time later and was installed by someone other than the person who did the rest of the installation. That second person came in and installed the shelf in about 15 minutes. I am not sure it was installed correctly, surely not with the attention to detail that Vidal exhibited in cleaning the area and reinstalling the shelf today. I was irritated that contacting us to schedule the repair took so long (almost 3 months), but I understand that COVID was a factor in scheduling the work. So, my impatience was probably not justified or not completely thought through. read more

I spent almost two years meeting with bathroom remodelers, and visiting showrooms before I selected CALBath, and so glad I did. MOST remodelers wanted to sell me on their remodeling rather than listen to what my needs were, which really frustrated me. Instead, CALBath did exactly what my wants & needs were transforming my 1970's bathroom with tub into a modern piece of art walk-in shower, which is a major reason for choosing them; Why don't salespeople listen? CALBath worked on a very, very tight timeline, right before Christmas 2021(would not suggest anyone ever doing this); they completed everything on time and I am absolutely impressed with the quality of construction; there have been some minor issues like water seeping from faucet, which they promptly resolved and said IF anything else happens to calls them because they back their warranty. read more

Worked with Greg at the San Marcos office! He was super friendly and helpful. He was available when I called with questions, or if he wasn't there, he would always give me a prompt call back. I purchased 2 toilets and had my bathtub/shower refinished. The installer wasn't as outgoing as Greg, and some of the paint on my wall was ripped off by the outlining tape, but I guess that's to be expected. Overall, I'm a very satisfied customer. read more
