This place has some of the most delicious pasta dishes you will have. I love pasta and this place satisfies my cravings for delicious Italian food. Truly reminds me of Italy. They say that they make the food from scratch so getting your food does take time & you have to be patient. When it arrives though, it is so worth it. My dinner was just OK - the veal parm, but my husband's dinner was fabulous - the pasta, ham and peas with Aurora sauce. A great homemade Ceasar salad dressing was terrific. On 12/23/2011 I went to Calabria in Mill Creek with my family recently. We arrived just after they opened on a Friday evening at approximately 5:10 PM. There were approximately four tables with people seated and no one waiting to be seated ahead of us. After approximately five minutes we were politely seated. After approximately 10 minutes our waiter came to our table and took our drink order. By now a couple more groups arrived and were seated. When the waiter brought our drinks we gave him our food order. I chose the pizza but I asked to substitute the mushrooms on my pizza with tomatoes. The waiter acknowledged he understood and away he went. He returned later with some bread for us to eat while we were waiting. After approximately 40 minutes, out waiter brought our food. The pizza that I was served was all mushrooms and no tomatoes. I mentioned it to him, he offered a weak apology, immediately removed it, and handed me the menu to pick something else because he stated the restaurant was now out of pizza crust. They had been open for an 90 minutes at this time. By now my family had their food and was eating, I quickly chose the lemon chicken because I thought it would be quick. While waiting for my food and watching my family eat their dinner, I saw four other diners at other tables be served pizza. After approximately 15 minutes my lemon chicken was served to me. It was so lemony I could not taste the chicken at all. I did not say anything and ate part of it. After another 15 minutes, the waiter asked us if we wanted boxes for our leftovers. We declined and asked for the check. When the check arrived I was further disappointed. While I am not one who typically looks for something for nothing, there was no credit or discount on our bill. In fact, we were charged the full higher price for the chicken vs. the pizza which I would rather have had. The least they should have done was to charge me the price for the lesser entree that I ordered. The restaurant inside was nice and the owners were friendly. We felt a little like outsiders though. It was obvious they they have a set of customers that return frequently and those customers seemed to be received more warmly and it appeared from our perspective that they were happier to see them return than to make sure they took a few minutes to win over some new customers. The menu prices were average for that type of food served but because of the poor service, we will definitely not be returning. Too bad though, it is close and convenient to our home. We were very disappointed. They could have handled the honest mistake differently and possibly got us to come back and give them another try. They were too slow and they did not handled the situation poorly. For those wondering there were several other waiters working at the same time. Our waiter was covering approximately five tables including ours. The best part of the dinner was the olive oil for dipping the bread. read more

The food is terrific! These guys have been doing it great since they were in Kirkland. We go about once a month, and we always leave with a smile! The food portions are huge, especially the salads and pastas. Penne Gorgonzola has always been my favorite. Calabria's is a local treasure. My wife and I are foodies and have eaten at the best restaurants in the NW and I fancy myself as a bit of a wine connoisseur, I have written very positive reviews of Calabria's in the past and when I went to Yelp and saw David R's review I had no choice but to rebut his ridiculous assessment. I happened to be in the restaurant when this group of three came in. David was trying to haggle with the owner on prices... who does that??? He brought his own bottle of red wine and then asked for wine bucket with ice which is not the way to serve red wine. He made demands that were unreasonable and then waited to leave the restaurant to make his complaints on the phone! Granted we all have the right to our opinion but trying to get price breaks and free stuff or face a bad review was over the top. If you go to Calabria you will see the owners welcome you warmly and the wait staff of Gene and Karina are attentive, friendly and professional. Last, the food is excellent and gives you the opportuinity to experience the flavors of Southern Italy. read more

After being heartbroken over the Kirkland location being shut down, I was excited to try the Mill Creek location. We arrived on a Saturday night at around 7:30 and were immediately seated and our drink order was taken almost instantly. Our server was very friendly and after a few minutes, we found out she was the owner of the restaurant. Our drinks were immediately served and our appetizer, the caprese, followed shortly after. The caprese had the very basic elements on it, yet it was so fresh and delicious, there was absolutely no complaints. The owner had a hard time recommending any dishes because all of the dishes on the menu were her own recipes. I got the fusulli caprese, and the others got lasagna. The fusulli caprese was loaded with flavor and each ingredient was highlighted. One could really taste the cheese, tomatoes, basil, garlic, and olive oil. The lasagna was also very good. It was very hearty and tasted fresh. Though this place is not a very close destination to me, I would not hesitate to go again if I am looking for a good meal! read more

Calabria provides Authentic Italian Food, in a great atmosphere that is warm and inviting, all while providing great service. Never have I been to a restaurant where I return they recognize me. They are so personable there and to me that is as important as the food. The portions are big enough that I normally take half home for lunch the next day (or usually a late night snack! LOL) The prices are reasonable considering the high quality of ingredients, and the fact that I typically get 2 meals out of 1 makes it even better. I can go in for a glass of wine and an appetizer, a full meal (like the Pollo Gorgonzola! YUMMY!) or... just a dessert (Tiramisu!!!) My favorite place to sit is at the bar. It is fun to sit and watch people come and go, and even meet some of my fellow neighbors. It is such a pleasant atmosphere, you can definitely see that people are enjoying themselves, I always hear everyone rave about the food as they are leaving, promising to return soon. We found this to be a darn near perfect dinner tonight. The patio was sweet and pleasant to sit at on a nice summer evening and I enjoyed pretending we weren't in America for a while. The Malbec was delicious. The Old Fashioned's were $13 and $15 which isn't a friendly price but that was my only complaint at all. The bread with garlic oil for dipping was delicious. I had a house salad and my husband has a Caesar. They were fine but nothing real special. Our pasta dinners were incredible... Absolutely delicious. My husbands beef tortellini was so yummy! My Gorgonzola pasta paled by comparison, but only by comparison because it was fabulous! The service was perfect and the owners chatted with us a couple times as well. They were very sweet! Was hoping to love this place... did not! The biggest problem was the food. Why open a restaurant and settle for mediocrity? I usually judge an Italian restaurant on one dish, chicken marsala. If they can't get that right, it is very disappointing! The chicken marsala was absolutely.... sweet! I don't mean sweet as in good, I mean loads of sugar. Yuck!!! If I wanted an overly sweet chicken teriyaki I would have gone to a bad teriyaki place! I have tried chicken marsala at many (over 50) Italian restaurants all over the world. The good ones are savory with maybe a very, very, very slight hint of sweet. I happen to love sweets, but candied chicken with mushrooms is NOT a good dish! read more

I found this place while searching restaurants in my area and, what a find!!! This place has some of the best food I've ever tasted not to mention a very attentive, polite and friendly staff. My husband and I just came here the other night to treat ourselves to our favorite Bistecca Calabria (THE GORGONZOLA SAUCE IS TO DIE FOR!!!), and the owner sat down with us and had a nice chat and turned us onto some delicious liqueurs he had just brought back from Italy. Oh Calabria, I had such high hopes...just to begin I hate it when bad reviews are given without explanation so here ya go. To get down the the nitty gritty, the service was awful. They couldn't even keep my water glass full. And from the beginning of our meal they had to clean off our table while we were sitting at it. Isn't it a given to sit customers at a clean table? The bread they give is undesirable. It's dry, cold, and super chewy! They could've at least warmed it so it would've been softer and more palatable. Then my husband and I actually watched others get better service. When others sat down the table was ready for them and set. We had to ask for everything! (I'm promise not a picky person but I should be receiving the same service as anyone else) So when we finally got to place our order that's when we were told the specials..... specials should be told to customers as they are given the menu. My husband and I ordered the caprese and penne Calabria with chicken. (Both of which were delicious!) While ordering we asked why there was an extra charge to split the plate. Our waitress first fumbled a bit and then said out right "I don't know" so she asked someone else and they fumbled even more with their response and eventually settled on "they give more food with a split meal" Man the air reeked with BS. My husband and I always ask this question when it's put on the menu just to see if they have a valid answer. In our experience they never do. Then when we receive our food.... there's no chicken and I'm positive they didn't give extra food. So we notify our waitress who tells us they'll have to make the chicken separate and then bring it out. Waiting and more waiting we finally receive the chicken to our food that's nearly cold. All the while we were eating the undesirable bread and our water glasses aren't getting filled. Can you under my frustration? The one positive note that the food was delicious. But unfortunately in this experience the service received was just terrible. Myself and my husband don't go out often so when we do it's very special and Calabria made this night awful. I receive better service at the grocery store. I guess we'll stick to making our own food. read more

Overpriced average Italian food. The atmosphere was nice. Our waitress was extremely strange (or maybe she was part owner) and her inability to address me or look at me at our table was very off putting. Even when I paid for the bill she refused to give my credit card back to me, but rather to my guest. Just rude. The food here is overpriced. $19 for pollo limone: too much lemon. No veggies. Small portion of pasta and one thin chicken breast. Must have cost them less than $8 to make this dish. My guests Chicken Parmesan was actually a decent portion and he seemed to like it, but it came in at $22. Seriously $22??? We took home two pieces of tiramisu: $16. Here is the major disappointment: there is no way this tiramisu was made by a real Italian. The filling was nothing more than whipped cream. No mascarpone to be found. What a shame. I had high hopes for this place seeing that it is right around the corner from me. I won't be back. I could get better Italian food at Olive Garden--yeah Olive Garden. read more

I have been back twice since even though it is a 45 min drive, so worth it! They recently added a three course option to the menu for only 21.95 or something like that, a appetizer salad (DELICIOUS), a main dish (6-7 to choose from) and a Dessert. One of the best Italian restaurants in Bothell. Small, quaint, and cozy. Friendly and inviting. The food was excellent and the service was beyond compare. Our dinner came to almost $100 for two pasta dishes, one glass of house red wine and one caprese salad. I'd expect to pay this much if there was some sort of ambiance or a waterfront view or something but the view is of a parking lot. Oh...and there is absolutely no parking. We had to park a couple blocks away. The owners were quite nice and accommodating but I can't get over the price of dinner for 2. Now part of this in my fault. I neglected to ask the price of the pasta special. Come to find out this small seafood pasta was $42!!! Come on! It's Bothell for goodness sakes. Unless there is a full lobster in there it is no way worth $42. My friend recommended it to me. But then I found out she never saw the bill. Food but okay but not worth the price. This used to be our "special occasion" restaurant, but we have somehow found ways to work it into more dining. On occasion we will order it take out as well if we can't get a babysitter. Highlights for my wife and I include all things Gorgonzola, eggplant parm, and mozzarella appetizer. We normally receive one of 2 waitresses at the table, who both are delightful. They are very pleasant, thorough, and make the experience great. They over articulate the dining experience, in a manner consistent with high end dining options. The space is small but cozy. It looks plain on the outside and is on the corner of a strip mall. Critiques include an awkward lot of water/busboys who seem uncomfortable around guests. Also, (this is partially my own undoing), they serve delicious steak but call it "carne" on the menu. I didn't realize they had steak for a year after we started going there. Lastly it's a tad expensive for the location - though priced right for the quality and experience. Even with these areas to improve - my wife and I consider this our most recommended place to eat. read more

It is unfortunate but I have to write this because we had very high expectations. My wife and I had previously gone to this restaurant and had a wonderful experience. My family was in town from Michigan so we decided to go out for one last night. My wife and I insisted that we try this restaurant because of our first experience there. The owner is an incredibly nice guy and our meal started off terrific. We were going to try an appetizer of calamari but the waitress gave us the idea to try some dipping sauces for the complimentary bread because it would be good for the kids. We also ordered their special bruschetta appetizer. Our meal came and it was absolutely terrific. After the meal is when things got really weird. We had told the management when we first got there that we would be using our passport dining card which would give us an entree for free. When the bill came we were shocked to see they were trying to make one of the appetizers the free entree, that each of those little cups of dipping sauce were $10 each, the four pieces of bruschetta was $12. My mother had very plain brewed iced tea with one refill for which she had been charged $4.50 and an additional $4.50 for the refill. That is $9 for 2 cups of plain iced tea!! When we first arrived we told the waitress that we would be on separate checks she said that would be difficult because they don't have a computerized system, so we told her that we could figure it out at the end of the meal to make it easier for her. Come to find out at the end of the meal she insisted that because we were using a passport card that the entire table had to pay a mandatory 20 percent tip because it was all on 1 bill and not separate checks! When my wife questioned this the waitress told us that if we didn't pay the 20% that she was going to report us to the passport card company ( which is a benefit through her employer). The waitress became pretty combative and unbelievably rude. We even heard her yelling at the staff in the back of the kitchen which was extremely embarrassing and uncomfortable . What is ironic about this is we normally tip 25% for good service but not after the waitress tried to hustle us. Food is still very good there but the service is appalling and they will absolutely nickel and dime you to death. We called the Passport dining people the next day and confirmed the waitress was either badly mistaken or flat out lying. As active as we were in trying to bring people to try the restaurant we will be equally as passionate about telling people about this embarrassing experience. read more

My husband and I had chicken Gorgonzola and tasted terrible. Like something burnt on the burner. Took a while to get our server to return to correct it which I understand, Busy Friday night! Our second attempt arrived and it was much better. Our son asked for more bread to munch on while we now ate after him. Our server then told us there would be a fee for more bread. Are you kidding me? A $132.00 dinner for 3 that was screwed up and you want to charge me for more then 8 pieces of bread. Owner was called over but offered nothing more then a free dessert. Which would have been great at the time but not 30 min later. Been a regular for years never going back. All over their lack of customer service. Paid full price for a crappy evening of us all eating separate. Never again and sad as it's been a family favorite. read more

Went here for the 1st time and we have lived in the area now for three years! This is a hidden gem. Owners greeted us right away, made a point to come socialize at our table. The food was amazing and fresh and so delicious. The wine list was great and did not disappoint. We were given a slice of homemade tiramisu (my fav) and I have never had anything like that! So delicious and it was on the house. We got talking about coffee and they gave us a small bag to take home. It felt like we were in Calabria Italy at their families home enjoying a home cooked meal!
