I'm in the market for some bathroom tiles as well as mosaic designs. Went to Home Depot nearby but didn't find anything interesting. I wouldn't have not known this store existed had it not been for Yelp to the rescue! Jumped in the car and found myself up in here a minute later. Tons of parking on a midday. Walked in and was pleased to find a nice selection. So, I walked around a bit and found a few maybes. I noticed they were a little pricier than the likes of Lowes or Home Depot, but I was okay with that. After all, what else is one to expect from a specialty store like this? It didn't take long before I found myself with a few questions. I looked around but couldn't tell who worked here or not or if they were even on the floor at all. After a few minutes looking like I was lost and with no staff member to be found, I just decided to leave. (Come on. No acknowledgement from the beginning or AT ALL!? Meh...) Eh, just as well. Victor was so easy to work with... He was super accommodating and made the process go without a hitch. Having a limited window of time to work in, he made everything so easy, I wish I had another renovation to do! Hugo and his team worked extremely efficiently and I especially liked the way his guys spent so much time centering and sealing up the gaps on the Kitchen Sink. I cannot say enough of a warning to please avoid! This is one of the worst businesses to work with. As someone that has a brain injury, I had taken the diagrams of the measurements of the areas I need to tile into the store provided them to the sales associate Andy. I needed tile for two bathrooms showers, and for the kitchen, and two bathroom floors. We didn't even have enough tile to complete one bathroom. When we realized this they didn't have any more of the tile. Then I paid an astronomical price to have some of the tile from New Jersey shipped, however it never arrived. I kept getting the runaround when it would be delivered and it never was. I would never ever ever ever do business with this place again. Do not give them your money. They are atrocious even the manager Joanne which is a snide little witch. Who likes to talk down and mean people opposed to trying to find a solution. Absolutely no customer service. So they found the tile charging me over $300 in delivery because of their mistake!!!! Scheduling delivery was an absolute JOKE!!!' They confirmed four different delivery dates and never showed!!! They finally scheduled for a day I could be there but couldn't accommodate the time I would be there. They insisted I needed to sign a document indicating that they could leave the tile. I said no because at this point I didn't trust them. Well guess what they said they delivered the tile without me agreeing to or signing to leave with no one and when I went to the location there was NO tile. Without realizing it had been delivered I contacted the store to try and again reschedule delivery when I would again be there. I was told it couldn't be scheduled and that I contacted them in error because it was delivered. I told them it wasn't and I provided the emails where I wouldn't be available. They said it was my problem. Now I will dispute with my credit card company and have to pick another tile to redo the bathroom. This place is a JOKE. Please DO NOT give them your business!!! read more

I went to Cal Tile in Torrance for a home remodel. I had never been through this process so it was all new to me. I had been to multiple places from Orange County and in the South Bay. Ceci Navarrete introduce herself to me and gave me while giving me space to look around which I appreciate. The store has a good selection in a small place which was helpful to me. I had previously walked through large warehouses to fancy showrooms but Cal Tile was more my style. It took me many trips to get an idea of what I liked and did not; she was helpful each time I came. We ordered some Italian tiles that came out great and some simple that also looked good. At the end of the day, we ended up getting wall/floor tile and counters for three bathrooms, and a kitchen with 3 types of quartz throughout. I liked that she let me take tiles home so I could show my wife in the space. It helped with making a commitment for sizeable orders. Ceci was great for me! She was very patient, helpful whenever I asked and gave great suggestions based on what I was looking for. She was usually busy but never let me feel neglected. I was searching for the best kitchen back splash with a beachie touch to it on the planet. So I went back to Cal Tile in Hawthorne where I purchased the tile for our patio in 2013. It was my lucky day - Joann is still working there. She is so thorough and knows this industry SO well. No matter what questions my daughter and I had, she was right on. When I asked her re tiles that look like the waves in the ocean, she took us right to the California Surf Series - BINGO, this is the perfect effect we are looking for. The other staff I worked with also went over and above to assist me. You will enjoy working with the Cal Tile staff. Andy was helpful with the selection of tile and provided samples. However, I encountered a couple of glitches when 3 additional pieces were required and not available. Joanne stepped up to find the tile and save the day. In addition, I purchased a piece of remnant quartz to be fabricated and the fabricator didn't show up. At first we red the reviews and were hesitating because some reviews regards to customer service. We arrived and Joseph spend more than 1,5 hours picking the right tiles for our new backsplash, flooring and fireplace. He was more than helpful. We love the tiles and will go back definitely back to get materials for our bathrooms. We are not done yet but so far looks amazing. Also, tile selection is great. And yes it is definitely a safe place during covid. Everyone is wearing masks and there is hand sanitizer. Their honesty was very much in question! We purchased tile that was $12.50 a sq ft. A day later they called to inform us this tile was not available. So we went back and purchased a tile that was.$6.18 a sq ft. the difference of$828.00 to our credit! The store manager and our salesman indicated that our second tile purchase ($6.18) was more expensive than the first ($12.50) . They indicated that it would be an even trade and they wouldn't charge us the extra amount. When we researched the price, we realized they were trying to keep the $828.00! We confronted them on this discrepancy and they had no choice but to pay us the difference! If we didn't bring this to their attention we never would have been paid! Shady at best!!! In the Future Take Your Business Elsewhere! After over 1 year of cabinet damage/replacement by the manufacturer and by the installer I was finally able to have my Porcelain kitchen countertop and backsplash installed. In August 2022 I purchased from CalTile 2 Porcelain slabs along with installation services in the amount of $12,705.61. During that time period I had cautioned Joann Carter NUMEROUS TIMES about the delicateness of this material, that it is subject to crack or chip on fabrication/installation and that if they were not qualified to install it to let me know so that I could secure the services of someone qualified. Each time I cautioned her she would say that Hugo (fabricator/Installer) would do an excellent job and that I would be happy with his work. Right after installing the countertop I noticed a crack in the corner. It wasn't until the next week when Hugo came to install the backsplash that the crack was actually 6" in length. Hugo was NOT QUALIFIED to handle this material because he slapped 1" of Thin-Set Mortar on top of the Hardiebacker board and shoved the Porcelain countertop on top of the mortar causing the 6" crack. This material needs reinforcement underneath to prevent it from cracking along with seaming it. I took a drawing of the countertop into Joann before fabrication, we approved a seam and Joann sent it over to Hugo who acknowledged getting it. According to the General Manager, Matt Gibbons he said that I was Adamant in not-seaming the countertop. After the installation I immediately went into the showroom and both Joann & Andy told me that Hugo had just left and that they knew about the crack and to "Keep an eye on it and let them know if it cracks anymore." That's when Joann admitted to me that this was their "First time installing a Porecelain countertop", so Joann LIED to my face! Joann also asked me WHY Hugo did not seam it like we had approved? Really? Joann needed that sale to make herself look good to the management because she is worried about her job and said that the dysfunctional management is something she deals with on a daily basis. It wasn't until 3 weeks later when I decided to put a Dispute on the last $2,000 I had paid them that Joann sent out a Porcelain Specialist to fix it. He took one look at it, called her and told her that section would have to be cut out and replaced. I also consulted with another Porcelain Specialist who confirmed the same. 2 days later I went back into the showroom to check on the status of the repair when I was confronted by the Finance Manager. She was ARROGANT, RUDE and started yelling at me in front of the staff. She asked me WHY I did not try to work it out before filing the Dispute when all along Joann knew about my concerns from the time I secured their services and Joann just sat there afraid to say anything because she is worried about losing her job. Its obvious that the Owner Mimi Sayegh condones this behavior because she watched all this unfold and Said Nothing! The Finance Manager also said that I had purchased from them 2 years ago and that "I was a problem then." My only purchase with CalTile was 5 years ago and if she knew how to read she would have seen there was no problem and I gave them an Excellent review. When I mentioned this to Joann and that I would like to contact the owner regarding this Derogatory remark Joann told me "Don't Bother." She said that the Owner needs this woman to run her business and besides they are from the same Country so she won't do anything about it. After receiving a copy of the letter from CitiBank that was generated by CalTile and signed by Owner Mimi Sayegh stating that I always had a reason not to pay was a blatant lie. I PAID THEM 83% UPFRONT before any services were rendered via CitiBank and American Express. So either the Finance Manager doesn't know who she is being paid by or CalTile was so desperate to get that $1,000 from CitiBank that they had to falsify the information to a Financial Institution. The next week I received a voicemail & text from Joann indicating that CalTile would make it right, that she had talked to the Owner's son, Joseph and he told her to tell me not to worry, that CalTile would make the repair. 3 days later I received a call from Matt Gibbons, General Manager saying that I was to consider this Business Transaction Closed, CalTile would not be fixing my countertop and with the money I was paying them I can hire someone else to make the repair and "IN THE FUTURE TAKE MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE." When I tried to explain to him what happened he would just cut me off and repeat the same verbiage. This just shows the Arrogance, Unprofessionalism and Disrespect that Matt Gibbons has for the customer and instead of BULLYING the customer he might want to pull up his Big-Boy pants and act like a General Manager. Take your business elsewhere! read more

We first went to Cal Tile to select tile for our fireplace renovation. They have a nice selection of different types of stone and tile from which to choose. We also liked the fact that the store was local and you could borrow a sample tile(s) to take home and see how it looked in the space being tiled. Our sales gal Randa Hardy was absolutely amazing! I can't say enough nice things about her. She was incredibly patient helping us to explore options, walking with us thru each step of the selection & ordering process, and following-up to make sure our delivery arrived on-time at the warehouse as promised. When we ran into some glitches that were no fault of CalTile, she was right there to help us work thru them. She's been wonderful in providing us with great recos in terms of contractors she knows & trusts to help us with our tiling and painting projects. Furthermore, she's been diligent about regularly following-up with us to make sure we're happy with the work her reco'd contractors are doing on our projects.
