Let me start by saying that it takes a lot for me to be impressed enough to leave a company or individual a positive review - and this one is long overdue. Early this year, I had several pest control companies come out to evaluate the extent of termite damage to our house, and was made aware of a bad case of both subterranean and dry rot termites feasting on our house (not good news) - so it was time to bring the little bugger's party to an end! Which meant it was time to bring in the professionals to deal with the infestation, but who to trust? After having several other companies come out, perform an inspection and write up a bid (and not feeling confident enough with any of them to go forward), I decided to have one last company come out, and so gave Cal Coast Termite & Pest a call. I happened to speak with the owner, Jesse O Compo, who offered to take a look at the situation himself. So Jesse came out and conducted a very thorough inspection of our property, and confirmed that the critters had indeed done some rather significant damage to our house, which meant quite a bit of wood would have to be replaced, including most of the facia and the majority of a patio structure. Jesse took the time to patiently answer all my questions, and showed a real concern in meeting our needs - no bum's-rush explanations, or high-pressure sales tactics or add-ons here - just an honest evaluation of what needed to be done, and the best way to go about doing it. His down-to-earth and professional manner gave me the confidence to go forward with him and his company. However, because of an elderly parent in the house, and the difficulty involved in relocating him, I asked him if there was a plan of attack that didn't involve the traditional method (and inconvenience) of having the house tented (which would of course involve evacuating the premises for several days), and to my relief, Jesse said there was. His plan involved drilling spaced-out holes, every so many feet, into both the unaffected wood of the house, and into the ground around the perimeter of the house, into which, Termidor, a liquid insecticide, would be injected - which would serve to effectively wipe out the thriving underground termite colonies - and that approach sounded good to me! So Jesse and his crew got to work. First they dealt with eradicating the colonies by injecting the insecticide, and then they skillfully began to replace all the damaged, termite-ridden wood, including prepping the wood for painting afterwards. Within a few days, everything was done and we couldn't be happier. No more finding little piles of termite sand hills or worrying about our house being eaten alive while we sleep. So if you're in the market for termite treatment and have been reading through one Yelp review after another, then I hope this one will prompt you to pick up the phone and give Jesse and his crew a try. I found Jesse to be a straight-shooter and very easy to work with. He knows his stuff and he'll take care of you. I highly recommend him and would like to encourage you to give him a call today. read more

This company did a termite inspection and repair for the seller i bought a house from last year and did the worst repair job I've ever seen a contractor do. They overlooked the more expensive damage for the seller and then for the repair that they did do, used indoor wood for outdoor which swelled up after it rained, did not wood fill in the screws and left them exposed, siliconed the bottom of the wood panel straight to the ground and did not repair the baseboard on the other side of the wall. They had to come out twice to fix their crappy work and i just gave up and fixed it all myself. read more

Tom from Cal Coast Termite was great. He came out for my annual termite inspection for the termidor termite treatment they provide. He arrived on time within the 2 hour appt. window they gave. He was courteous and professional. While inspecting my attic, he informed me that he noticed that one of my galvanized pipes looked like it had a leak and suggested that I have someone take a look at it sooner than later. I'm really glad he noticed it because I would have never even known until it would've inevitably gotten bigger or even burst, causing major water damage. Anyone else might of just over looked something like that because it's not what they are there for. Anyways, he then found some termite issues which will be addressed with a follow up appt. But I really want to express my thanks for noticing the leaky pipe, in addition to the isolated termite areas. read more

We were fortunate to get a bid from Cal Coast Termite for house termite treatment and wood fungus repair of our patio cover. The bid was reasonable, but the customer service and professionalism of their people was over the top. They were very helpful and explained everything to my wife and I. Even better, they lived up to their promises!! The work done showed what pride their employees take in their company. Everything was completed as stated, on time, and as clean as before they showed up. These guys just went the extra mile with a smile on their face, and restored our faith in this business industry as EVERYTHING done was above and beyond! We couldn't have had a better experience, from the price to the professionalism of all their representatives/employees, to the actual work done! Thank you! read more

I have used Cal coast termite for over 5 years. At the beginning they did a good job and stood by their work. This is no longer the case. I have monthly service as well as yearly termite service. Each month they have come out the day after they leave the cobwebs, spiders, ants and other bugs are back in full force. I call, send pictures and they end up coming back out to re-spray. I also had a termite issue with my front fence. In the past they treated and repaired the fence. Now they are saying since it wasn't in the original agreement they are not responsible for the fence or gates. How do you fix it once and not the next time? They also have a guy that works there that has offered to do the repairs on the side, because they stopped covering what was once covered. I thought ok he's done work before so I had him do it again. This time he messed my gate up so badly that I ended up having to hire someone to repair it at a cost of $200. Their employee never came back, left a big mess in my yard and wouldn't return my calls, he just left me hanging with a gate that did not work. I realize I hired him on the side, however since he still works for the company and this is his day to day job it does seem to reprehensive of the work Cal Coast does on a daily basis. The owner called me last week to discuss the fence. He had been here the week before and said he would cover the fence, by the time he got back to the office he had changed his mind. I talked to him twice to see if I had misunderstood. In our conversation he was spoke down to me as if I wasn't capable of understanding the process and was just flat out condescending. I left as though his main objective was to argue until I gave up. I was at work and did not have the time or inclination to be continually talked to like an idiot. so I hung up. I realize hanging up was not the right thing to do. I work from home, was in the middle of a very busy work day and just couldn't take being talked to in such a manner any longer. As an update to the reply below. Again, I admitted I did hang up and it was not the right decision. I could have and should have handled it differently, however it was not due to frustration it was due to being talked down to and belittle in the conversation. I admitted I could have handled the situation better. I was at work and just couldn't keep rehashing the same thing over and over. Nothing I did or said was done in a mean spirited way. I was simply trying to get a straight answer from a company that I had trusted for years. It's interesting that I am being called rude and mean spirited now because over the years when I giving them baked goods they didn't seem to think I was rude or mean spirited. I guess its all about perception. My perception of Cal Coast now is that they no longer do the great job they did when I first signed up for their service. read more

These guys are the best! Thanks so much for the amazing repairs done buy Andrew,Rudy and Luise. The team is so good and fixing the damaged caused buy the years of neglect and bugs. Cal Coast arrived promptly for the estimate, as well as the actual service. We had some severe rot on our front porch that has been repaired flawlessly. The gentleman were very polite, and flexible to any preferences we had in terms of the repair. Really went above and beyond to ensure all of the rotted wood was removed and replaced. They worked quickly, and left the area cleaner than when they had arrived. Would not hesitate to recommend Cal Coast for any termite treatment and repair. read more

I just saw their response. Once again their response is not satisfactory and ignores what they did. Yes they had an "inspector" come but he either deliberately left shoddy work or didn't know what he was doing. And maybe they don't have a complaint with the structural pest board but they will get one from me because it's totally unacceptable what they did and other will be victim to them if I don't. Also many people don't know to go to the Structural Pest Board for termite companies. Notice again the total lack of remorse or any interest in making it up to me. No real response or apology for what they did. No remorse. Sums up the awful attitude of the owners of this company. Seriously get some ethics! read more

Cal Coast Termite & Pest - This is a better picture where it shows two rotten unstable boards left in their balcony job. - Pest Control Near Me - Long Beach, California

Pest control contractors can sometimes be the biggest pests themselves. Not so with Cal Coast. The process couldn't have been more simple and painless either. I called and left a message. They called right back. The girl on the phone told me when the guy would be over, and he was there on time. The inspector was courteous and friendly and talked straight with me the whole time. I never felt like I was getting conned or ripped off like some companies make you feel (cough terminix). I had a few rats in my attic, dead ones, so they rescheduled to do a full service by trapping any others, cleaning up the dead ones, sealing up the holes and sanitizing so they don't know to come back. It was more than I expected, but worth it since I have no intention of crawling up into my attic with dead animals in the heat of summer. Look, I'll keep it simple. Don't think. Just hire these guys. You'll thank me later. read more

Cal Coast Termite and Pest did an excellent job with the work they were hired to do. We had termite infestation through a portion of our wood patio roof and they replaced only those portions that needed it. It was amazing how they were able to replace load bearing beams while maintaining the integrity of the structure. They also replaced some of the siding on the front of the house and it matched perfectly. Andrew and his co-workers were very professional and made sure everything was cleaned up after each days work. They paid particular attention to make sure there were no leftover nails on the ground as we have dogs. I highly recommend Cal Coast Termite and Pest. read more

I have had a policy with Cal Coast Termite for more than 10 years. My policy states I do not pay for repairs caused by termites, yet I was charged $450 on 2 separate occasions, when Eddie was my inspector. In a phone conversation in July of this year, I spoke with Jessica, office manager, who reminded me of my policy. I asked her why I was charged for repairs due to termite damage and she was surprised. She asked me to submit the invoices for reimbursement and I did so in a PDF. I keep calling, only to get the runaround and no reimbursement as of yet. It has been 4 months now and I recently got a call from Ralph who is part owner. Sadly, I missed the call. I called back and got same old runaround. I have referred neighbors to this company, but it makes me wonder, do they value their customers at all? Due to the way I have been treated as a loyal customer, I would not recommend. read more

Eddie came out to our property and looked at our problem. He confirmed that we had drywood swarmers. I had a previous termite guy come out who told me they were subterranean termites. It didn't make sense to me, that's why I called Cal Coast for a second opinion. Eddie directed us on what to do since he said we were still under warranty with the previous tenting job. We are new owners of this home. He took his time with us and even called us back with the name of someone to contact at the pest control board. Jessica in the office was also helpful in answering more questions we had. Overall good customer service and honest people! Once our contract runs out with this company (which the sellers hired), we're moving over to Cal Coast! read more

1star because I don't have any other option. I used this company almost 4years ago with my last house and they were awesome.I naturally wanted to use them again with the sale of my current house, what a mistake. It took me 2weeks to get back to me after about 6 messages and multiple calls. In between these failed attempts of contacting them I had 2 other termite companies come out and quote me. I finally got a call back with a million excuses why they can't call people back. I had Derek come out and inspect the house . He seemed like nice guy when he came out. I told him I was the seller on the property and the inspection was for escrow purposes. He took down all the escrow info. He told us we had two options to spot treat or tent .We chose to spot treat. We waited for the email to confirm for four days. I had to call Jessica and request the email that was supposed to be sent right after the inspection. I scheduled the apt and then a few days before I was told I had to cancel my apt because they had no idea it was "in Escrow" and had to wait closer to the close date. Which we to Derrick and Jessica and they even took the escrow info down . We rescheduled and then got a call back a few days later and was told they had to Tent if by law. I was told that since they gave it as a option they had to do it by the board of pesticides... So that was a lie. I talked to multiple companies and said that was a lie. I then was told by the office secretary Jessica that Derrick would call that day or the next to explain this lie to me. It took 6days to get a call. I was then lied to over and over again then told at the end of the conversation that since I was "the buyer" which they all knew I was the seller it was best for me to tent the house for my future in the house. Hello !!! What a Lier everyone knew that I was the seller and they took all my info for escrow to charge escrow. Derrick then told me after drilling him about this lie of having to tent because they gave it as a option , that it was a flat out lie being a law that the board of pesticides follow . He said that's what most people in his recommendation want as a buyer. So you just want to lie to me so I spend another $1,700.0 because you want more money. What a joke, they offered me a $100.0 discount for there problems Save your money & the hassle of repeated lies . This company used to be great 5yrs ago. read more

The only reason they're getting 1 star is because Yelp doesn't allow for none. Terribly run business and no accountability. Had rats, we thought we caught them all... But a couple months later, we found we had at least one in the house still. They accepted no responsibility even though I also paid for exclusion work. Tried to charge me for exclusion work twice even though it's "guaranteed". On the 4th check back they just completely bailed because I expected them to complete the exclusion work at no extra charge. Instead of patching a hole they missed the first time. Their solution was just to not show up for a check back. To top it off... Paid for them to spray for ants and silverfish... Guess what I still have. If you want someone to attempt a job but not complete it. These are your guys. Edit: I received a message saying they would like to resolve the issues about a month ago. I replied, no response. Finally I called. Talked to the office manager and she assured me that they'd like to clear this up, and could do another spraying for ants at no charge and that she would get back to me after contacting her supervisor about taking care of the remaining rats. (A job I had already paid for, exclusion service and extermination) apparently exclusion work is not guaranteed even if it's something this company over looked or missed. Well.... Guess what? Once again they haven't contacted me back and much like the service they provided... It was unfinished and half assed. Paid for a service that was not provided in completion and no accountability on their end.... Again. Do yourself a favor and use another exterminator. One that guarantees exclusion work so they can't attempt to get you to pay twice for their mistakes. Edit 2: In reply to the companies response. The fact that you're responding over a year after this complaint was made is an excellent preview of the customer service you provide. Check your records, I still have at least one check back STILL due to me. Also, yes the property was in the middle of a remodel. But ALL of the exterior work was done before you had started your service and exclusion work. I had called previous to the exterior being complete and your company had told me to wait until the exterior was finished before they could even service my property. So seriously... don't try to use that as an excuse. You may also want to look up the word "exclusion" in the dictionary. It is YOUR job to find out what access points there are and exclude any further and future entry. So when exclusion work is guaranteed... that would lead someone to believe that if YOU missed a spot... that would be guaranteed. It is not your customers fault that your employees were unable to find every access point. And please... don't respond a year later with false claims. I never asked for free service, I asked for a job that I paid for to be completed. Your attempt to save face a year later is laughable. Sure you caught 12 or so rodents... within the first month or two. After the initial trapping I kept paying and paying for you guys to put down a few snap traps and glue traps with little effort to actually eliminate the problem once and for all. I believe I spent around $700-$800 over the span of a few months. Once it became actual work and the rats weren't just jumping into the traps for you, there was a complete lack of effort and that's when I decided to no longer keep funneling money into the rats nest. During the final service that I paid for I didn't even get all of the check backs promised by your company and sure... while several rodents were caught early on... I don't believe any were caught during the last service which is exactly why I decided to move forward with another company. So please don't sit here and act like I'm some crazy customer who wanted things for free. I simply wanted a job that I paid for completed. And if I felt like you were capable of doing so I would have kept paying. But there was little or no effort put in towards the end before I discontinued your services. The final straw was when your company tried to have me pay for exclusion work AGAIN... exclusion work that was "guaranteed". I understand you're trying to save face here, hoping I won't respond. Maybe this was just one poorly handled job, but at the end of the day... everything I've stated is fact. And it's pretty insulting that you're gonna sit here and try to make me look an unruly customer who demanded free things in over to cover your own tail. Doesn't look good on your company or you to try and pull the wool over other customers eyes because you're attempting to sweep a poor review under the rug. read more

I had the nearly the exact same experience as J.K. (the 4/5/2015) review. In October I had rats. They did an exclusion in our crawlspace under our house. We asked them to put traps in the crawlspace because there may still be rats who would then be trapped in the house. They refused. Then, in March, a rat that was trapped in the crawlspace ate through our floor and caused significant damage. I called them to come back, and they charged me $225 to put traps to get the rat. I expected them to do the work at no extra charge and fix the hole in my house, and when I called to speak to a manager, I have been waiting over six weeks to hear back. I call once a week and am told someone will call me back. No one ever does. Horribly run business. read more
