He also cleaned the existing gutters and secured them back to the new roof. A new roof is a significant expense, so I did a ton of research and pulled multiple quotes. In a world where roofing pricing often feels like a guessing game of "get what you can," homeowners are incredibly lucky to have someone as honest and communicative as Edward.

While searching for a reputable roofer to replace an aging roof on a rental property, my trusted…read moreelectrician suggested that I call his roofer, Humberto Valdiva, the owner of Valdiva Roofing. I interviewed four highly rated roofing companies to understand my options better and compare cost, reliability, and ease of doing business. While Humberto's prices were not the cheapest (or the most expensive), they were competitive. His customer focus is what stood out from the others. He highlighted different options for shingles, venting, and other materials that others didn't mention in their rush to get me to sign a contract. Humberto took his time to educate me, bring clarity, and compare the various options, which helped me feel informed and comfortable with deciding to move forward with Valdiva Roofing. Humberto was by far the easiest to work with during the bidding process. From bidding to completion, Humberto was my one point of contact, and he was an absolute joy to work with. I found him to be organized, efficient, hardworking (I spotted him working alongside his crew more than once), and on-site regularly throughout the project. The new roof and gutters were installed to plan, on schedule, at the price we agreed upon, and it looks great! Humberto and Valdiva Roofing earned my trust with this first project and have become my go-to roofing team. Since then, I hired Valdiva Roofing for roofing inspections, repairs, and maintenance for other rental properties that I manage as well as my own home. They added ridge venting to improve attic ventilation, sealed leaky penetrations, corrected a gutter angled the wrong direction, and replaced wood damaged by water, termites, and carpenter bees. Humberto is knowledgeable, responsive, and customer focused. I am incredibly grateful for the professionalism and hard work that he brought to each of my projects, from small to larger in scope.

Explained all that was going to be done and gave us the peace of mind that it was going to be done well. when it was time to start the job, the time he told us that the workers would be there, they were there! Punctual! Workers very respectful. We have 2 cats and I was afraid that they were going to scare them off with all the activity, got home and they were laid out sleeping. Even though it was a roofing job, they kept the areas used clean and free of hazard. When the job was done, Humberto came the house, inspected and cleaned the work site, a few days later the solar power panels were installed. All in all, it was an amazing experience!

Obviously I can't tell how durable their work is just yet, but the experience so far has been great. In particular I really appreciate their estimator Hank. He is very knowledgeable, friendly and he respects and values his clients, a lot. My roof and gutter are not standard setup, so I had lots of questions on how it can be done right. Hank either clearly explained to me his plan, or patiently brainstormed solutions with me, which gave me lots of confidence in their work. During the construction, there were things here and there that were not documented in the contract, and I am very happy about his flexibility. Their project manager Crystian also did a lot to make sure the project ran smoothly.

From our first conversation to the finished roof, Joseph earned our trust and our highest recommendation. What impressed us most was his honesty, professionalism, and pride in his work. Joseph is a straightforward, trustworthy guy who does what he says he will do. He communicated clearly, responded promptly, showed up on time, and was consistently reliable. He's also simply a really nice person who is easy to talk to. When you're trusting someone with your home, those qualities matter just as much as technical skill. And his craftsmanship absolutely lived up to that trust. Our new roof looks beautiful, and the care he puts into his work is evident in the finished result. We felt we received excellent value, especially considering the quality of both the workmanship and the service. For our family, the greatest benefit is the peace of mind. Joseph helped make our home more fire-resistant, and we feel much more confident heading into the winter rainy season. We appreciate the beautiful roof every time we come home, but feeling safer under it means even more. I wholeheartedly recommend Joseph and Mastercraft Roofing to homeowners in Palo Alto, Los Altos, and Los Altos Hills. He brings together the skill, integrity, and reliability you hope to find in a contractor. We would hire him again without hesitation. Thank you, Joseph, for taking such good care of our home. You've earned these five stars!
