POST WEDDING UPDATE: After the cake tasting and deciding on using Ma Petite Maison, we asked Negar…read morefor a contract (she calls it order form). After a few weeks, we finally got it. It did take some effort (several emails and voice mails). A couple of weeks before the wedding, I wanted to know where/when the flowers from the florist should get delivered so that she can put them on the cake. When I didn't hear back from Negar, I contacted my florist and she responded immediately that I don't need to worry. Negar delivers the cake to the venue, and the flowers are added there. Phew! So my only negative comment is that communications is not great, but persevere because the cake will be worth it! On the day of the wedding, seeing that beautiful cake on the table, it was just what we had imagined. We got great advice from Negar that we should order only enough cake for about 75% of your guests, and sure enough, that was plenty. Not only was the cake beautiful, but it tasted just as good. It was so moist, and you can really tastes the strawberry flavor in the filling. It was just as we remembered from the tasting. We had so many compliments on the cake. So don't give up if you can't reach Negar. She does everything herself, and is a totally sweet person to work with. The cake will be worth it.

The display cake was nicely decorated, but the one given to us was completely plain white with no chocolate chips around it at all. There were four cakes kept for display, and when we asked for one of them, the attender said they were only for display and refused to sell them, which felt misleading. There was plain space on top of the cake to write a message, yet the attender refused to write the wish, which is very basic service for a cake shop. Worse, the Black Forest cake did not taste fresh at all. It was hard, dry, and completely tasteless. To make things worse, it was extremely expensive $50 for an 8‑inch cake with no taste and poor quality. Overall, very bad service and not worth the money. I strongly do not recommend Cakes and Bakes.
